Spocktober + Trektober Day 17 - Survival Training
Their camping dates in The Final Frontier are everything to me :'3
(ID (+ bonus unedited version) under cut!)
Tumblr media
I wanted to add the unedited version too because I actually quite like the scrappiness of it! Plus I find it funny that I've done 16 of these and somehow managed to switch the 'Spocktober' and 'Trektober' in the corners on the 17th and not like. the second. 😅
I'm sticking this one right up on my wall :3
[Image ID: A black and white drawing of Jim Kirk, Spock, and Bones from Star Trek: The Original Series. They are sitting around a campfire in a clearing in an alien forest; in the sky above is a crescent moon, a distant ringed planet, and a galaxy. Smoke rises from the fire, and it casts long shadows behind the characters. The forest and sky are drawn in white gel pen on black ink, and the ground around the characters is shaded in scratchy black brushstrokes to indicate the ring of light thrown by the campfire.
Bones and Jim are reclining on the ground, to the left and behind the fire respectively. They are wearing casual clothes; Bones is wearing a jacket and Jim is wearing a t-shirt with a button up shirt over the top, unbuttoned. Bones is also toasting a marshmallow. Spock is on the right of the fire. He is sitting cross-legged facing the other two. He has a blanket wrapped around him and is wearing a beanie with a bobble on top, covering his ears. Only his face is visible. He is scowling, and saying in a square speech bubble "I do not see how this activity provides adequate survival training."
Bones replies, also scowling, in a round speech bubble "Just enjoy the peace and quiet, Spock."
Jim's eyes are closed and he is smiling, basking in the moment.
Above the drawing is written "Trektober" and "Day 17 - Survival Training" Below it is written "@aerialworms" and "Spocktober".
The second image is the same as the first, except several brushstrokes have broken the boundaries of the drawing's frame, and 'Spocktober' and 'Trektober' have switched places. /End ID]

it's okay. thanks for trying.
we're going on a killer quest // @ensnchekov
Tumblr media
"thank you, for not making me feel stupid about this." it means the world to her. it means more to her than she can say. "um, do you think that we could... can we try again, maybe? i'll definitely get it right this time, i promise!" udyati holds out her pinky finger to add more weight to the promise. a pinky promise is a most solemn vow, after all.

Darlington had never gotten used to it. He doubted he ever would—the urge to gag, the bitter spike that drove through his soft palate and up into the back of his skull.
“Fuck,” he gasped.
Alex blinked. “I think that’s the first time I’ve heard you swear.”
Chills shook him and he tried to control the tremors that quaked through his body.
“I c-c-class p-p-profanity with declarations of love. Best used sparingly and only when wholeheartedly m-m-meant.”
i had actually forgotten this part, kind of a chekov's gun, isn't it? i can't wait for him to either swear again or declare his love now

S2 episode 12 (The Deadly Years) what's going to put them through the wringer this time?
whoppee:
- POOR CHEKOV! He's so frightened by the old dead body
- I like how they made it realistic and Kirk had to raise his voice at the old people
- I would NOT bring them aboard the ship. Like what if this is contagious, you can't beat old age (somehow I feel like this statement will be disproven by the end of these 50 minutes)
- Spock cock blocking Kirk is the best thing of this century (edit: I don’t know what this is about but I believe it)
- They're all gonna get thrown in the old people makeup like David Tennant in Doctor Who, aren’t they?
- Kirk is shirtless and decides to call Spock (the camera is tits level)
- McCoy with a bit of grey *twirling my hair*
- Scotty! oh wait no he just tried to bleach his hair and eyebrows (don’t dye your eyebrows Scotty! You can be blinded!)
- OH NO! GIVE THIS MAN A HAIRCUT (they gave McCoy the worst haircut)
- McCoy getting more of a southern dialect <3
- "Oh yes I'll live... but I won't enjoy it." CHEKOV IS THE BEST. Also Hii Sulu Hiii
- Okay I like this commodore, but he really has too much of a hang up about starbase 10
- Spock with grey in his hair <3
- "I'm not a magician, Spock. I'm just an old country Doctor." "Yes... As I always suspected." Spock basically smiles as he says this and it's said with so much love
- "This isn't going to hurt a bit." "That's what you said the last time." "Did it hurt?" "Yes!" Chekov is never going to medbay again
- Stop putting Sulu on the spot. Other people saw these interactions, this is a stupid ass court
- Kirk was not winning this. Rightfully.
- The audacity of this bitch. To even THINK that Spock would be after command. HE IS BREAKING SPOCK'S HEART
- Spock spending what could be their last moments trying to help McCoy after getting rejected by Kirk
- yay Kirk is saved and is able to save the enterprise. But why is Spock there? Let the poor man rest or at least get the serum
- One last note. I love Sulu.
Twas an okay episode, short on thoughts for it though.

Lies of P bookish Headcanons
I got a LOT of them but let's see how this first post performs lol. If y'all want more/specific genres/characters
━━━━⊱⋆⊰━━━━
GENERAL FICTION
P, loves all sorts of genres but is close to the romantic ones more. Ofc he'd like Austen, the Brontë sisters too!
Special mention... Mary Shelley's Frankenstein (for obvious reasons)
HP Lovecraft. Hear me out. He sees the monsters around him all the time, why not ponder on their existence? Surely, like him, they were created for a purpose...accident or not. P would want to find the beauty in the abomination.
Cosmic horror P vibing with Pandemonium??? Yes and yes only.
***
Carlo, lover of fairy tales as a kid, would definitely grow up with the French classics. Maybe some Dumas, (Man in the Iron Mask, Three Musketeers and Count of Montecristo) i think he'd love Cyrano de Bergerac play too. This would've inspired him to be a great fighter!!
Lowkey I think Carlo would make a great detective too. So giving him AC Doyle and Agatha Christie.
***
Romeo, i think would like Dumas too but he seems to me the more sentimental type.
So imma say he reads Russian classics as a hobby ಥ‿ಥ . We're talking about Chekov's plays, Crime and Punishment, Anna Karenina, War and Peace.
(This is also aligned to my other HC that Romeo is an orphan from a nouveau riche family in Krat. Orphan boy but he has the blood of an Aristocrat.)

The end of legally blonde would hit so much better if Elle and Vivian ended up as a couple, and here's why
The way they set up Elle and Emmett is unsatisfying bc he's set up as her love interest. You can tell they'll end up together the second he's introduced. Vivian and Elle? Enemies to lovers, much more compelling. Plus (IMO) Emmett's boring. There's not much to his characterization and Elle jumping from mean blond white boy to nice brown haired white boy doesn't illustrate growth on her part.
It also works with the Canon lesbian character, Enid, who is initially judgmental and rude to Elle based on her appearance and speech pattern. She even outright accuses Elle of being homophobic early on. Making Elle sapphic makes the accusation more poignant, and it's "don't judge a book by its cover" message hits harder. As it is in the film, Elle and Enid don't really interact enough on screen to justify the turnaround (imo).
Finally, Vivian is a much more compelling character if she's gay. She's playing a part as much as Warner is, and her being closeted in order to succeed in the society she was raised in. We do see a subtle "coming out" process in her wardrobe change, going from turtle necks to crewnecks, but idk it's barely there. There's also a scene where she's regarding her engagement ring with her friend, and her face isn't exactly one of excitement. She's not necessarily into the idea of marrying Warner, she's fulfilling the societal prerequisites to success.
Chekov does seem to have left a few of his guns scattered through the plot that point toward this having been the intended endgame romance (ESPECIALLY the repeated juxtaposition of Elle and Enid. It happens more than i remembered tbh, but its p subtle and kinda slows down/stops after the first half). They just never go off. Instead, Elle ends up with Emmett in the epilogue text, not even on screen. Like it was tacked on.

B5 03e14 Ship of Tears previous episode • table of contents
The news from Earth is back, but it's fully propaganda now.
I'm glad Sheridan's getting to play in the starfuries for a bit. He definitely needs some chill, fun, flying time.
Dang, it's Walter Koenig! My guy, Bester. Can't wait to see what evil shenanigans he's up to now!
He's such a good villain. So reasonable. So...off.
I don't get why the gang are still stonewalling G'Kar...it's ever more fucked up the longer they keep doing it. C'mon, be better.
I forgot about the new uniforms for a bit but I like them. Looking snazzy! I like the lines and random patch of color.
I genuinely wonder if Bester intentionally goaded her into hitting him. Glad PsiCorps are against the Shadows...it's a low bar to clear, since the Shadows are against life, but still glad.
This is a huge enemy-of-my-enemy stretch, though, considering elements within PsiCorps have been directly enemies with B5 interests themselves. Still, cooperation has got to be key against the shadows.
Wow, this is the biggest fight I've seen Delenn and John have! But seriously for the best to read G'Kar in on all the intel. He brought his intel to them! it's insulting they haven't read him in to their own intel.
Oh shit, they disclosed the existence of the Secret Ship to Bester! That's a hell of a move, as is it for Bester to just plop into the Captain's chair on the bridge. Is that a Star Trek nod? Chekov never commanded the Enterprise in any of the episodes and never sat in the chair, so Bester steals the chair for a second in B5? Cute.
I gotta pay close attention to Delenn and G'Kar's talk. Delenn's decision to obsfucate was directly because of the Grey Council's decision not to share any info. Delenn's arguing it was a good decision, because if they'd allied openly with the Narns from the beginning, the Shadows would have wiped out the Narns entirely instead of only enabling the Centauri to genocide and oppress them.
I find G'Kar's reaction a bit...odd. He talks himself around to agreeing with her, which I find a bit shameful of the writers. It cannot ever be a good thing that a people were wiped out without any foreknowledge from supposed allies. Maybe it wouldn't have changed the outcome in terms of life, but who could say what they may have done?
They have a sort of tractor beam and caught a ship, cool. Weapon's supplies, but it seems to be a person in pained stasis. Dun dun dun.
It's so wild that they took Bester into their confidence enough to take him on the White Star when they're known G'Kar all along and he still doesn't know it exists! Wild, wild set of priorities on information sharing. Bester has been a literally mortal threat to them all, G'Kar has never been a threat to any of them but Londo. And that was fair anyhow.
A shadow body? Or a different species that's allied? I thought the shadows were multi-limbed, spindly things.
Not just one person in a tube, but over a  hundred! Ivanova called them sleeper tubes, but Dr Franklin calls them cryotubes.
They have impants on either side of their cerebral cortexes, the lady they were waking up slowly came to screaming and asking why they were doing this. Bester identifies her as "a blip," a telepath who refused to take suppressants or join the corps. This lady is P-11 or P-12.
And she has a terrible nightmare/flashback to what looks to be three individuals, the same species as the unidentified body they found earlier. Leaning towards species allied with the shadows.
P-12 lady made herself a nest of wires? And first thing she tries to do is lure Bester in and attack him. Good instincts, lol. And she's in pain, she says. Bester claims she has no reason attack him or sabotage the station by ripping out all the wires, and she automatically shoots at Bester's PsiCorps broach.
Her name is Carolyn - I guess the shadows already got their hands on her and into her brain? Well that's harrowing. idk what her shared telepathy with Bester was about, even with Bester's explanation. He met her when she was caught and sent to the re-education center, and immediately fell in love with her. Tried to make her experience in the center better...I guess? Bigger quarters and more food. Yikes. And then he knocked her up. No mention of if she had anything to say about that?? jesus.
Hm, Shadows use people as processing for their ships? They are acting like they've talked about it before, but it's new info to me, and horrifying info at that.
Bester says his promise to keep her and their baby safe is the only promise he's ever made that he meant a damn. And that if they can help her, he's 100% on Sheridan's side. Handy! If they can pull it off and get those next level impants out of her or something.
Ivanova says he'll turn on them the second it's all over and I'm inclined to believe her. Maybe he'd play nicer for longer if he achieved some of his goals for telepaths - they are the future, he says.
Did Garibaldi finally teach himself enough Narn to read some of G'Kar's book? Good for him.
The Shadows are weak to telepaths, hence probably the 100+ telepaths being made into ship components. And this info is so timely, because the Shadows are attacking a place right now! Telepaths! We ride at space dawn!
Kosh...

everyday i roll up to my awakening, read my silly little gay fanfic, talk to my friends, usually eat something and then let the sheer longing to be a part of the type of love found in star trek tos take over my existence until it is time to sleep.
like. there's the obvious K/S right? the longing looks, the understanding, the fact that Kirk touches Spock so openly and Spock Lets Him even reaching back. the idea that they are so wrapped in each other kills me. they are T'hy'la, they are lovers, friends, partners. in every universe it will always be them.
but there's also the others, the quiet friendship between Spock and Uhura (in tos it's much more subtle then aos but there are Scenes of them just. goofing around, Uhura sings and Spock plays his lyre, they complement each other and fill the little pockets of each others lives with quiet loving companionship.) in a lot of ways they are a mirror to Kirk and Bones.
Speaking of:
Kirk and Bones are rough and honest and endless loyal, they've built each other up and have changed each other, handprints litter their skin and bones (ha) from years of touch and friendship, both have seen the other at their worst and best, in so many scenes Bones pokes fun and banters but when it's serious, when they all truly might die, when Kirk might die. you can see the humility and love written across both their features, worn and comfortable as an old cotton shirt.
Spock and Bones are different, they gripe and bicker and insult each other with enough malice where someone who was a little bit unaware might try to bring it to the Captain's attention. but Spock doesn't take Bones' insults like Jim does, he doesn't take "i don't know why im on this metal tincan with you lot" and respond with "because you love me" Spock fights back, a quip or statistic always up his sleeve (even if im p sure he's lying out of his ass most times) and you can see Bones thrive on it. thrive on having someone be just as bitchy as he is, you can see the respect forming in the set of his shoulder and the stance of his feet. and he fights back with everything he can. and for Spock, there is very few times he lets himself (really lets himself) be as emotional as he is when he bickers with Bones. there is no logic in fighting back, no logic in insulting Bones at any given chance (on and off duty) but Bones gives him a space to be illogical and emotional and petty. Bones and Spock fill a role in each others lives that i honestly don't think anyone else could and they Love each other goddmanit, when Spock is hurt Bones takes care of him with the same ferocity that he otherwise only does with Jim, and Spock goes to great lengths just to be there with him. they love each other guys. they fuckin love each other.
and that's not even TALKING about the others!! Sulu and Chekov bantering and pulling pranks, quietly making fun, and damnit they work well together too, you can see the way they move together, K/S? they have a literal mental bond, Sulu and Chekov? they're just Like That. Scotty and the Enterprise (yes im doing them too) while different, it's still teeming with love. the love of your work and the love of your creation, building and healing (because it is healing isn't it? you never look at Scotty repairing the Enterprise and think "yep. just a guy putting together some metal" it's healing. fucking fight me on this i don't care) and honestly? i think the Enterprise loves him back, as she does the rest of the crew. she hears their footsteps and quiet warm touches. she hears the private conversations and offers help where she can
"give me a sign," whispers Rand. "if I shouldn't do this...tell me now." Janice is shaking, crying, the Enterprise doesn't know what it is. doesn't know if a sign is a good thing. everyone is always moving, talking so she doesn't know what started this but- she shifts, puts her energy to the com in Janice's room. it buzzes to life and Janice laughs, broken. the Enterprise doesn't know if she's helped, doesn't know how to make it better. she tries again.
"Janice- I love - you." spirts the machine. different voices stolen from audio files on the device. and Janice finally smiles.

BUT THEN ALSO THE DON'T LEAVE BUT IN REVERSE (rip spock)
Spock knew.
However, could it be accepted? He had faced the concept of dying before when he was in that volcano...it seemed back then, he was more willing to embrace his fate with open arms, perhaps because he was choosing not to feel. But now, all he could do was that.
Feel.
It was clear to him, though, before Chekov even got to his side what was happening. His blood was everywhere...hell, it was a miracle he wasn't spilt in two. As the ensign gripped him, lifting him just slightly the dying vulcan let out a pained groan but he moved his head so he could see Pavel more clearly, staring, part of him hoping his friend couldn't see the fear leaking into his dark eyes.
Tumblr media
'Listen to me, Chekov...the ship...you have to get back to the ship-!' Spock tried to command, his tone faltering and he took in a sharp gasp of air, attempting to ignore the horrid discomfort threatening to overtake him at any moment. 'They need you...now more than ever...p-please, you must let me..go.'
