Rambling About a Show (10/11/2022)

So, I started this on Sunday (10/09/2022) and finished it today. My thoughts are gonna be a bit backwards with this one.

Yo, what kind of ending was that?! 🤨 I’m not even mad about it, however it has me asking a lot of questions. 😣 I cried when Jung Sa-bin gave the rings back to Kim Soo-hyuk, explaining that she knows who is truly in her heart. From what I understand with the ending it implies that Cheon Jong-beom and Jung Sa-bin end up together. I’m only basing that off how I interpreted the ending. Even if it was a bit confusing (to me) to begin with. 

I have to admit that the reason I was watching this was because of Lee Soo-hyuk. I think I’m gonna end up mentioning this for every drama I watch of his. 🤣 I honestly think I’ll do that for any actor and actress that I enjoy watching. 🤣 He may have been the main reason for me, but I stuck around for the plotline. A few other reasons I stuck around is because it’s a crime show. Which I love crime shows. Also I enjoyed the idea of the red string theory, and reincarnation.

So, they mentioned broken heart syndrome later in the series. I can’t remember the exact episode it was mentioned in. Then it was brought up again towards the end. Well, both times I cried about it. Because it hit close to home for me. Due to the fact that, that was mom’s cause of death. Granted this series had me crying several times. I’m not even kidding. 🤣 Pretty much EVERY emotional or tear jerking scene had me crying. ESPECIALLY when  Cha Hyung-bin’s remains were buried by Jung Ha-eun. When this happened it came to light of why Cha Hyung-bin had approached Jung Ha-eun in the first place. The guilt that man had carried all that time. 💔

Listen, the way Detective Cha Hyung-bin was protective and loved Jung Ha-eun, it was heartwarming. I felt that he was a cheesy romantic but I loved it. Then we have Prosecutor Kim Soo-hyuk. He’s a badass with a smug, it has to be my way, attitude. The complete opposite of Detective Cha hyung-bin. Even though Soo-hyuk was a bit of dick, I ended up liking his character. Though I didn’t like the way he went about prosecuting people. But it is what it is.

In the case of  Gong Ji-chul and Cheon Jong-bum. Even though both were innocent for the most part. I still didn’t like the fact that he was stalking  ung Ha-eun and Jung Sa-bin. Like, I’m glad Gong Ji-chul’s named was cleared, but still his behavior was a excessive and unsettling. Same with Cheon Jong-bum. Jang Ki-young did a fantastic job of portraying both characters.

I’m glad that in the end Prosecutor Kim Soo-hyuk began the process of correcting all his wrongs. I teared up when he resigned as Prosecutor but later showed up as an Attorney. The way his belief had changed was also amazing as well.

Of course there were a ton of plot twists in my opinion. Every twist kept me intrigued. I lost a lot of sleep over this series because I’d rather have answers than sleep. 🤣 That’s just how good it was to me.

Romancing a stlaker is wrong!

Well here we are…The end of #BornAgain. I would like to say it was a pleasant ride, but we all know I wold be lying.

First of all I would like to say that I have nothing against #JangKiYong or #JinSeYeon ! They are both actors, they play a role. The show was bad because of the writers and director of that show not the actors.

So here we go.

First of all #BORNAGAIN promote unhealthy relationship and there’s nothing you can do to make me change my mind!

Gong Ji-Cheol/Cheon Jong-Beom are unhealthy character and they should get professional help, PERIOD. But the show decide to go in the dangerous territory of the women being the savior, and she need to fix this man.

Let’s examine the facts:

Gong Ji-Cheol stalk Ha Eun. He kill a hairdresser. He stab multiple time her fiancé. He shown no remorse and believe he’s wrongfully painted has the evil guys.

Cheon Jong-Beom stalk Sa Bin, he stole her diary, when he found out that she love someone else, and he plot to kill her lover. And again he shown no remorse.

This character has the basic personality trait of a toxic man. He’s a narcissist. He believe that everything he does in his the right and everyone his wrong. He’s controlling and he his prawn to violence.

Sa Bin here is shown has understanding and always forgiving his flaw. With here good Samaritan behavior, she will change him and save him.

Every creepy behavior he show here, are he romanticize with music and the setting. Like if following someone around and stalking her on social media, to see what she like was cute and a trait to look in a potential love partner. It is not, it’s all about control!

This kind of behavior always escalated, first it’s just watching and, then he will say why are you going out with those people, why are you wearing this, eating this…All of this to isolated the victim so she end up alone and even easier to control.

And then it escalated to physical and verbal abuse.

It doesn’t end up in them being happy with unicorn and rainbow!

Why does it matter, it’s just a drama? Well because women in this kind of relationship have extremely hard time getting out! If the popular media, show this has normal, what do you think is going to happen? Why would I get out, it’s normal that he follow me around. It was my fault he was violent, I shouldn’t have done that.

Forcing love on someone is not love! It’s an obsession and it’s not healthy at all! We should encourage writer to write about healthy relationship! I have nothing about a stalker storyline has long has it shown has what it is, an dangerous and unhealthy relationship!

Every now and then I watch Kdramas (especially if one of my fav actors is in it). I don't like being involved with the kdrama community at large due to various reasons, so I don't normally share my thoughts on what I watch Kdramas wise. However, I started a new show, Born Again, and I have THOUGHTS.

The series double up on the episodes. So episode 1 is actually 1 and 2. So on and so forth.

Episode 1 (1&2) and episode 2 (3&4) could have been a standalone movie with how complete it was in it's storyline. I genuinely wondered what was the point of more episodes. The story was a tragedy on all fronts. Ha Eun afraid of committing to marriage because she knows she's on borrowed time. Hyung Bin is desperate to marry Ha Eun for love but he's a cop in the middle of investigating a serial killer and that takes him away from Ha Eun when he wants to be by her side. Gong Ji Chul is the son of an artist/serial killer who claims to kill women who remind him of those who abused his son as a child. Gong Ji Chul is in love with Ha Eun but he can't escape his past of abuse and afraid of a future where he'll turn into his father. So you know none of that is going to end remotely well.

The tragedy builds up with each passing moment for each character. It's so perfectly frustrating in how none of these characters can escape their destiny when even one different decision could have changed their ending.

It was a fantastic start to the show that also undermines the notion of even continuing on.
