On my quest to finish 10 seasons of Chicago Fire before 9-1-1's 6th season starts,
I have now reached Cruz and Chloe's wedding, and I have the stupidest smile on my face.
Good episode to go to sleep with 😍😍😍

Chenford breaking up (after a 6 year build up and an extra long hiatus) during a SECOND mid-season break--of a show where we aren't even sure we'll get a season 7--feels like such an old TV drama trope, and it's kind of familiar (like when shows would break up a fan favourite couple to shake things up and try and get ratings boosted; i.e Bones 'breaking up' stable couple Angela and Hodgins for a bit, or the Booth and Brennan gambling drama; Arrow with Oliver and Felicity from season 4 to season 6; Luke and Lorelai on Gilmore Girls etc.).
Then I remember shows where the couples that fit and worked well and by all accounts should have made it, didn't (like Dawson and Casey in Chicago Fire; Max and Helen in New Amsterdam; Jackson and April on Grey's Anatomy; Spike and Buffy; Tara and Willow; Phoebe and Cole will forever be my MOUNT OLYMPUS OF SHOULD HAVE BEEN!!!).
I am so torn right now. Lol. Like hell yeah old TV is back :) but also: fuck no, old TV is BACK?! :'(
Imma take a small break from the Rookie until the season is resolved. Because I cannot handle a 6 year commitment like this making me anxious/sad each week? I work like 5 days a week! I cannot be working emotionally when I watch my comfort show too. That's what limited-series are for, lol. (This isn't a critique of the show more of me knowing my emotional bandwidth). Still love the show and characters but I am also a weak weak being.
Either way, I got my Richonne endgame, and I'm not young enough to stick around for this angst (like I was okay with miscommunication angst, but POST BREAKUP AND THEY STILL LOVE EACH OTHER ANGST??? I am not strong enough, lord!).
Like it's TV but sheeesh, it's very old school TV. And there aren't many long running shows that I take comfort in like the Rookie (it's my fluff after a week of horrors lol). What am I to do?!
I hear starting 9-1-1 is also not very comforting even though I'm interested in Buck bisexual cannon.

Israel’s war against Hamas has triggered widespread public disruptions by terrorist supporters around the world. Calling them terrorist supporters is not rhetoric but fact. Even before the bodies of the 1200 people massacred by Hamas terrorists on October 7 had been identified, massive public protests took place.  Shockingly, astoundingly, the protests were not against Hamas’ atrocities and war crimes but against Israel: the victim.
The world and millions of Hamas terrorist supporters turned a blind eye. They deny that Hamas committed such atrocities: that families were bound by metal wires and incinerated alive, women gang-raped and executed in the most violent ways, babies were beheaded, children were murdered before their parents’ eyes, and parents murdered before their children’s eyes, tens of thousands of rockets that were fired at Israeli communities by the terrorists, or when the terrorists’ own rockets fell short and killed Palestinian Arabs in Gaza.
And as they denied that these crimes took place, even saying that Israel fabricated the videos that the terrorists made themselves documenting their inhuman slaughter, they blamed Israel for the massacre.  And then blamed Israel for its response.
Sadly, this kind of behavior and manufacturing of lies is all too expected from Hamas and its terrorist supporters. Now, however, we’ve seen them raise the bar on their incivility by shouting down and threatening others and hijacking the public space over and over. They have effectively opened countless fronts of this terrorist war, not just against Israel but against the West, with particular disdain for Jews and Christians.
This has taken place in many forms and venues.  Pro-Hamas protesters disrupted the annual lighting of the Christmas tree in Rockefeller Center in New York, winning this year’s award for the biggest Grinch to steal Christmas. During the Christmas holiday travel season, pro-Hamas demonstrators blocked roads leading to major US airports as if somehow doing so was going to “free Palestine.”  On Christmas day, a friend in Chicago tried to get to her parents, only to be rerouted for hours by pro-Hamas protesters blocking more roads. They blocked all the entrances/exits of the Freedom Tower, the site of another massive terrorist attack that you may have heard about on 9/11. New York Mayor Adams has warned that the annual New Year's Eve celebration in Times Square will certainly become the target of pro-Hamas protesters, ushering in a new year of hate.
All over the world, thousands of cruel, heartless people tore down and defaced pictures of the 250 hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, as if somehow showing human compassion for civilians held hostage in Gaza was an evil worse than that of the terrorists’ massacre.

which teams do you think are tanking to get Paige next year? Or the possibility of her going to the new Bay team
Teams that look like absolute dumpster fires to me:
Sparkles. Sparkle on! It's a dumpster fire! 9/10
MYSTICS. Mystics. Dumpster fire rating: 10/10
Chicago Sky. Dumpster fire rating: 10/10 plus an additional 100 dumpster fire points because they traded their 2025 pick to Dallas!!!!! Dallas is already a semifinal team!!!!! If Paige goes to Dallas she'll be like Maya Moore and get 4 championships in 7 years!!!!! 😂
I don't know who the fourth lottery team will be. I think Indiana and Atlanta will have a mid-off and one of them will end up in the lottery.
The only thing that would mess with the Paige to Dallas narrative is the tangled red thread of fate. It's still a lottery. The lottery odds depend on how well each team did over the past 2 seasons. So Mystics odds will be low because they did well in 2023. But there's still a small chance Paige and Aaliyah could be teammates again.
There's also a tiny tiny small little chance some other team will try to trade for that number 1 pick.

The Voice sure does know how to go out with a bang! As the reality competition show draws to the close of its 24th season, the Emmy-winning program has announced its star-studded lineup for its finale episode, which is set to air on NBC's Dec. 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
2024 Grammy nominees Jelly Roll and Tyla are set to take The Voice stage to commemorate the season 24 finale, alongside performances from Earth, Wind & Fire, AJR, Keith Urban and season 25 coaches Dan + Shay. The intergenerational genre-spanning lineup will play a collection of songs that combine major moments in their respective careers, the dominant songs and styles of 2023 and their latest releases.
Jelly Roll, a four-time 2023 Billboard Music Awards finalist, will perform his Grammy-nominated Lainey Wilson-assisted "Save Me," the second single from his chart-topping album Whitsitt Chapel. Amapiano/Afropop star Tyla will perform "Water," her breakout single, which recently hit the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 ahead of the release of her forthcoming debut studio album.
Music legends Earth, Wind & Fire will perform a career-spanning medley that previews the band's upcoming Heart & Soul 2024 Tour, which they are co-headlining with Chicago. Another genre-fusing band, AJR, will perform a medley of its hit single "Bang!" and "Yes I'm a Mess," which hit No. 28 on Rock Airplay this year.
Keith Urban, a four-time Grammy winner who previously served as a judge on American Idol and a coach on the Australian version of The Voice, will perform "Blue Ain't Your Color," his 2016 hit single which ranked at No. 9 on Billboard's Decade-End U.S. Hot Country Songs (2010-2019). Another superstar country act, Dan + Shay, will grace the stage with a performance of "Bigger Houses," the title track from their most recent LP.
In addition to these eye-popping guests, The Voice has even more performances in store for the season 24 finale. Season 22 winner Bryce Leatherwood will return to perform "The Finger," a single from his forthcoming project. Furthermore, this season's top 12 artists will band together for a special joint performance. In that spirit, this year's coaching panel - Niall Horan, John Legend, Reba McEntire and Gwen Stefani - will join forces for a bubbly rendition of "Let It Snow."
This season marks the first in which none of the show's original coaches - Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, Adam Levine and CeeLo Green - from the series' inaugural season appear on the coaching panel. Shelton departed after last season, which saw One Direction alum Niall Horan emerge victorious.

I feel bad for Gallo/Alberto. The Hawkami storyline didn't do this character any favors, painting him in a bad light. It was amazing how quickly to CF fanbase turned on his character.
Also, from what I've been reading, the anger of how they could have kept Hawkins, is really, in my opinion disrespectful. Gallo has been on this show for over 4 years, he was more than that storyline. His absence is going to missed, as is his friendship with Ritter and his great one liners.
I just wish, he and Sylvie, were given better storylines than what was recently given to them in the past two seasons.
A big part of the problem in my opinion is how much the show has focused on relationship drama since (let's be honest) season 9. And while I started to watch the show because of a ship, I really enjoyed the ensemble feel of the earlier seasons and how each character would get a story arc, be it Cruz and his brother with the gang, Mouch and his bio kid, Chlii and her sister, Mills and his family, etc. Some of the storylines were not great (again, does anyone remember Alderman Casey?) but it gave a better glimpse of the characters and made them more multi dimensional because, in all honesty, Violet's been on the show since late season 9 and I do not know much about her still. It's a shame that the new gen of characters are more background ones than anything.
Focusing on relationship drama made the show too narrow and siloed. A lot of the characters who weren't in the romantic relationships didn't get enough screen time - we barely saw Boden, poor Ritter was in every episode for like 6 seconds, paramedicine wasn't fully explored because it was just a tool for the writers to keep Brett in Chicago, they're rehashing Stellaride drama (which is very stale at this point) because Taylor took a leave.
I wish they could have explored Gallo's family more instead. There was this fic some time back where the author made the fire that killed Gallo's family an arson and I wish they would have done that on the show. It would have been better use of Alberto's talent rather than making him seem like a jealous idiot.

I really wish the Fire writers weren’t so terrible. I totally believe it’s in character for Brett to want to adopt considering she sees herself in that baby. But I also think her anger spiral with Adler wasn’t just about her screw up. I stopped watching after 11x03 (will never forgive them for killing Hawkins off), but I didn’t read anything that said Brett was acting like she did in 11x20. I know Sylvie Brett Two Ts has made appearances but it’s been a while. Was the last time when Foster was pushing her boundaries in season 8 with trying to override Brett’s decisions as the PIC? Anyway, after Casey came back to town in 11x18 she seems all out of sorts. More easily annoyed (with Dylan), more easily angered (with Adler and even Boden slightly), and almost unsure? No one in the firehouse has noticed, outside of Violet and even then she didn’t seem to get exactly why Brett has not seemed like her normal self. Violet knew when Brett was acting down and out at the end of season 9 that is was because of Casey.  In my opinion, this is exactly what’s going on right now. Casey returned with no notice and completely shattered Brett’s illusions of moving on. She’s obviously still trying to force herself to move on with Dylan, though I do believe the beginning of the end of that started in 11x21. She knows the relationship isn’t right because she waited so long to tell him about her wanting to adopt the baby, and didn’t ask him how he felt about it. I also think she doesn’t want him involved at all, even if he wanted to be. Like I said before, it’s totally in character for her to want to adopt, dating back to season 4, but this also feels a little like desperation to fill that hole Casey left. Those hopes to be with him and probably have a family. If she can’t have Casey, at least she can have someone to love and care for. She still thinks he moved on and is in a serious relationship. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that’s she jumping into this so fast, and strongly, after that. The storyline doesn’t seem so out of the blue when you look at it from that angle. I don’t know about anyone else, but it feels obvious to me and I’m really mad at how the female friendships have been written this season because neither Violet nor Kidd has noticed. When was the last time Brett and Kidd even had a scene together like they used to have when Foster was around? Then to have Violet pushing Brett to Dylan constantly even though it’s obvious Brett is not comfortable with it. What the fuck is up with that? Unless it has something to do with him being Hawkins’ friend? But Violet is more levelheaded than that. I don’t think she’d try to live out her relationship with Hawkins via Brett and Dylan. Grief is obviously different for everyone, but no.
How does Casey tie into this storyline in the finale? The only thing that makes sense right now is Brett leaving 51. I don’t think she’ll up and go to Portland because of Casey’s talk with Boden about coming back to Chicago. I’m not one to believe Jesse is coming back fulltime, I think if anything he’ll maybe do two episodes or so a season if there’s a reason (like the task force storyline or even coming back for Brett, hint hint wink wink nudge nudge) like he’s stated before. My theory is she takes a step back from being a paramedic and maybe only takes on paramedicine duties (due to her conversation with the foster parents about timing). I was originally thinking a job promotion, but that’s never even been hinted at. I don’t think Brett would want to be behind a desk anyway. Matt comes back to Chicago as a Captain at another house or maybe even as a Battalion Chief. This gives both Kara and Jesse the option of popping in when they feel like it and when the storyline calls for it. Kara’s contract is probably on the more expensive side so this would also be in line with the budget cuts Dick Wolf shows will be going through next season. I know some have theorized that Brettsey will be the cliffhanger or even Matt in danger with the task force storyline, but that makes no sense unless Jesse is definitely coming back for at least 12x01. Which I get the feeling he isn’t, otherwise this adoption storyline wouldn’t feel so rushed. I feel like another storyline would be used to get Brett and Casey back together anyway, if that were the case. If Casey really is proposing like it seems like (and we’re clowns so can we really trust ourselves with that speculation?) it gives Brettsey another reason to slow down in their careers and not be at 51 anymore. That could also be the move Jesse was talking about in interviews for Casey to get Brett back. There’s also Kara’s hint at the last OC Day about a ring, etc etc..
This is Chicago Fire though. I don’t know if I’ve ever been remotely close to figuring out where a storyline like this is going. For all I know they’re baiting us one final time because we’re so easily conned. For example: me making this long ass post about a show I swore to never watch again after Brettsey broke up and Evan Hawkins died.
Thoughts? Opinions? Indulge in my crazy because this is driving me insane.

Thing I Can Make Out On The White Board:
1) The CRM is clearly planning to make a move on Portland. We know this because the map the promo shows, the top left says Portland and Post Operation, that latitude and longitude for Portland, Oregon are on the board. (Also, the World Beyond spinoff, which I have not watched)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2) I think the π symbol could be a reference to pizza or an implication that the story is now coming full circle.
3) RPED and marine - marine is a military branch and I think RPED can either stand for Respiratory Protective Escape Device or Rapid Prototyping Experimentation Demonstration. We know that the CRM has made devices to attack people with chlorine gas, we also know that they are performing experiments.
Tumblr media
4) Radio G7 Span and East of River - G7 is the Group of 7 that includes Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, and the US. It is a government thing. I think this shows the widespread reach of the CRM. When I looked up East of River, it brought up Washington DC, as East of the River is a part of DC called the East End.
Tumblr media
5) Food Lines/Inventory Seeds RW 32.62527 - I can't put a whole lot of meaning to this beyond possibly trying to attack Portland's food supply, unless seeds are referring to their bomb capsules. Both the Seed stand and the seed mention made me think back to the season 3x1 Seed but that can just be a coincidence.
Tumblr media
6) Code 3362, FL/only - I haven't been able to find what code 3362 means, but I think FL means food lines OR front lines.
Tumblr media
7) Engage -> Assess -> Execute -> Reclamation -> PPP exception - I think this is just how they keep files on communities and document them. I am uncertain exactly what the PPP exception is, although I have made 2 posts on it. I think it means Power Projection Platforms in regards to what the CRM views as assets (A's who can be reformed the the CRMs benefit, and control military forces) or medically it refers to glycolysis and the Pentose Phosphate Pathway and how the body responds to methanol (metabolic acidosis).
Tumblr media
8) Echelon Exception - we are aware that there is something called the Echelon Briefing. We know that historically Echelon was a government surveillance program (which is similar to how the CRM knows about all these communities). We also know that Echelon literally means rung of a ladder or level.
Tumblr media
9) Intel / Rules / Contact Park - I cannot read anything that it says in between the section titles. I do know there was a character on Fear the Walking Dead: Dead on the Water (or something along those lines) named Park. That show was about the USS Pennsylvania (I think) going against its orders to fire up on Chicago.
Tumblr media
10) Refinery C2H5OH1 - The CRM is manufacturing ethanol. We know ethanol to be alcohol, the most concentrated form being moonshine. We know that if not made properly, it becomes methanol which is poisonous to the body because our body turns it into formaldehyde. I think this is why Beth says "bad moonshine can make you go blind" and I also think this is why Alone takes place in a funeral home. (I also think Alone took place in a funeral home to emphasize the fact that Beth did not get a funeral). I think this is Pharmakon, poison and cure coming full circle. Even in the episode Still, Peach Schnapps was a poison and Moonshine was the cure. (Daryl said Peach Schnapps is not good and Moonshine is a real first drink).
Tumblr media
This is just info, I can't really make the best sense of it all as I have no watched any of the spinoffs and haven't seen past Carl's death in the show. (My fiance and I are only on 5x7 of our rewatch)

the backlash from tonights episode is going to be ... bad. especially if it ends with the new couples. I do wonder where the writers take it from here though. do you keep them together or break up and stay in this continuous circle next season
I'm still trying to sort through my asks (I've deleted ones that were already addressed, so...check the tag, friends), but I had to finally post this one because the only way that finale could have gone any worse (given where the stories where) was if someone from the core cast actually died during that freeway collapse asdfghjkl One bullet dodged, at least? Silver lining? I have a couple other asks dealing with where the show goes from here, and while I'm not going to make any *definitive* predictions about a show that doesn't even have a start date for production, what I will say is that how the writing staff handles these relationships is probably going to be an indicator of how secure TPTB feel about the future. This fandom is already talking about "when" the relationships might end and how it can still lead to canon!Buddie, but...how much time is 9-1-1 getting on ABC really? What if Ryan and/or Oliver want to leave after the next year? Are people so desperate for Buddie that they'll take the Chicago Fire or S.W.A.T. ending where the couple gets together only to break up because someone won't be there anymore? If season seven - most likely a shortened season because of the strike - actually needs to play out in full before ABC will consider renewing...isn't the show better off sticking to one story instead of changing things along the way again, especially when they're looking for a "new audience" and pulling this crap won't endear them to said audience (who isn't used to it)? These are the questions I ask myself. Not "How long until Buck and Eddie are single again?" (Because the reality is...moving to a new network may not change anything at all. Especially if time is moving even faster than we realize.)
