Things I’m not over from last night:
Brettsey still being in love with each other (in canon not just in my brain)
Burzek admitting they didn’t want it to be just a one time thing (because they love each other and are ready to do something about it)
Mack calling Adam Dad
I will be taking no questions at this time
And I’m trying to do adult things like work and get my move sorted but I just have scenes on repeat in my mind

You can’t keep staying invested in a show that you can’t enjoy anymore.
Having something be devastating shouldn’t be the reason you stay invested. That hope is damaging and we are the ones having to pick up the pieces of that.
I can sure as hell say that I didn’t like the episode for the words on the page and I know I’m not the only one. I’ve been saying for months that the reason why I’m halfway out the door is BECAUSE of the words on the page.
Gia did a fantastic job, visually the script did come to life, and to keep her career blossoming she has to defend them. That’s the part that sucks. That woman has immense talent and joy for the craft. And Gwen is a woman in a male dominated field. She should (in theory) understand the dynamics at play.
I think this shows us as fans that Gwen doesn’t know or care what we want to see anymore. She has her own agenda as showrunner and that’s paramount to her, even though we are the ones at the end of the day that keep the show alive.
There’s always going to be a breaking point and I think this is where this show has lost the viewers trust. We’ve trusted this show to bring us the exciting stories week after week, but this isn’t what we want to see anymore and that’s a decision that we get to make.
And I feel like that’s the power we have that can sometimes get forgotten as fans. The views can make or break a show. And as much as I find this nuanced, you can’t force yourself to enjoy something if it’s changed to a point where you no longer recognize it.
If only Gwen understood the value of a happy audience. That human connection. The joy of this show is just gone, the characters don’t have happy moments they just struggle and that’s not sustainable in a lot of ways.
The only thing tying us to this show is the nostalgia of what we know this show used to be, and the potential that it has to be great again.
The question I keep asking myself is how long am I willing to break my own heart for the nostalgia of something that no longer exists???
My happiness matters more. My joy means more to me than a possibility that may come in 6 months or not at all.
The show has changed. There’s really no disputing that fact any longer. And with that the question looms of are we willing to blindly follow a pattern that no longer benefits us??

I don’t want to be very negative but I want to be a little negative
Where was the goodbyes from the rest of the unit? Are we suppose to assume that they just gave him a quick hug and good riddance? Would they not be effected by that?
We missed out on a goodbye from Trudy which also feels really really wrong
Upstead deserved so much more than Jay deciding he’s gonna just up and go to Bolivia that day. It just feels really out of character and it was not very where you go I go of Jay.
No Halstead brothers goodbye?? When Natalie left med, we got a scene of Will saying goodbye to her AND Owen. I really do not understand why they made them brothers if they just want to pretend that they are strangers

I’m just gonna say that I kind of loved that Stella and Kelly ‘fought’ on that call. It just felt realistic to me. Like they’re Lieutenants in the same firehouse who are in charge of seperate teams (that specialize on different things while on calls/in the field) and they’re married. They’re also kind of opposites - so them disagreeing on a call was bound to happen especially one that could have put one of them in danger.
Like Stella said, It’s just a kind of fact of the job that they’re gonna bring a little bit of the job home with them and a little bit of home to work with them. I loved that we actually got to see them talk through it and figuring out a little of how they keep it from happening in the future. Communication is key y’all.
Also, Kelly Severide talking and communicating his feelings instead of shoving them down and hiding like he’s been known for in the past? That my friends is character development that I love to see.

OK so the promo.
[spoilers/speculation for 10x03 and 10x02 below]
That line, "one bad act doesn't make you a bad person" - he's talking to Hailey, right? That sounds like his gentle Hailey voice. I think he's talking to Hailey.
One bad act doesn't make her a bad person. But Voight's done a million bad acts. I really do think Jay is working undercover to take him down now.
I think Anna was the last straw. Jay's tried everything else. For 10 years he's tried to reign Voight in. He's protected him and covered for him in the past (7x01). He's tried to change Voight's ways a million times. He made that deal with him in 9x09. In trying to honour that deal, Anna got killed. If Voight had done the right thing and brought Anna in she'd still be alive. If Jay hadn't gone along with Voight, she'd be alive.
I think that was the last straw for Jay. Now the only thing left to do is take Voight down. Something he didn't do in the military with Elliott Knox, and that incident is still on his mind over a decade later.
I think this time he's willing to risk his career to be A Good Man. And if that takes lying to Hailey to protect her - both in the moment and in the future by removing Voight (who btw nearly got them all killed last week) - maybe that's also something he's willing to do at the risk of ruining their relationship.
And this isn't the first time we've seen Jay act all skeevy like this. We saw it once before. In Chicago Fire Season 2, when he was working undercover to take down that mobster at Molly's.
I really think that's what's happening here. I hope it is. But how it plays out? Who knows. It may not be resolved as quickly as we think.

As a show of hands, reblog this post if you won't be watching Chicago PD live after this episode.
I think it's a really good idea that we all use alternative streams if you choose to. The ends don't justify the means anymore.

I’ve never seen writers come close to ruining 2 of their shows in the span of an evening!! That takes talent

So what you’re telling me is that I’ve got my long awaited and well deserved manstead endgame? I’m getting Rollisi baby (and the hugest potential that Kelli’s coming back - like I feel it in my soul, especially now that Molly’s gone), and a potential for a Brettsey engagement?
Did Dick Wolf realize he fucked up majorly? And is trying to fix shit?

So when it says in the promo that this is the end for one of them, I still have this quiet little hope of…what if it’s Voight? A tiny part of me is like, imagine if this was all a ruse after all and Jason is staying as exec producer but Voight is going down and Jay actually isn’t leaving. However, that would then mean multiple cast members lying to and upsetting fans to the point where people have stopped watching already. Idk, it’s one of the many weird theories I’ve had. Probably the most outlandish given all the recent med interviews as well, but we can dream.
I've been thinking the same thing. Hoping for it, at least.
Just. Nothing about this whole Jesse leaving situation has made sense. Not from day one. And now what's happening on screen? It makes even less sense. There's GOT to be more to it. Right? Please?!
And hey, if Jesse really is coming back and people quit watching before that happens - all the better to sell more Peacock subscriptions with, my dear.
