Tumblr media
CONTENT WARNING FOR: discussions of internalized homophobia that’s in the process of being interrogated & challenged.
OR: Diversity win! Your Vice Housewarden dragging your ass for breaking the rules is gay!
This has been a thought that I’ve been turning over in my head for a while, and I wanted to sort of go through my thought process as to how I came to my sexuality headcanon for Trey, some general thoughts I have as to how he relates to his sexuality, and what areas I think he wants to/needs to do better on.
As I’ve discussed a couple of times, Trey Clover is a character that doesn’t really do deep self-reflection. I think in a future installment of my headcanon corner, I’d like to explore why that is, but I think his sexuality is a great lens to get an idea of what I mean when I pull that lack of self-reflection thread loose in his interactions.
I. A QUEER READING OF TREY CLOVER: Not Evidence, but Citations for My Interpretation.
With the caveat that all of these facets of his character are subjective, and always open to interpretation/different readings, these are the parts of Trey that resonate with me, a lesbian playing Twisted Wonderland in 2023:
Trey is a character marked with a great deal of pride in being a baker, as well as his skills in the kitchen, neither of which are traditionally considered “masculine pursuits”; he is from a working-class background whose free time is marked with assisting the family business and generally taking responsibility in a manner that implies a certain level of responsibility for the rearing of his younger siblings (cooking for them, making sure they brush their teeth, etc. No citations needed here; generally this is one of the first things you learn about Trey Clover.)
In general, despite the fact he does try to complicate the “older brother” allegations, his nurturing is a part of his character that cannot be so easily disentangled from him. I do have my own thoughts about how he feels about that role in particular, but for the purposes of this discussion, what’s relevant here is that his demeanor and dutiful attention to the needs of others is a core part of how people see him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trey seems to have an innate disdain for sports, and is not particularly competitive, generally balking at the idea of exerting a lot of effort in PE. He states himself that he only wants to do the bare minimum, which while not directly contradicting some of what he says in other voice lines and vignettes, DOES have a quite striking attitude change when taken in concert with the rest of his general apathy towards sports, the outdoors, and competition.
When Summoned: Camp, hm… Can’t say I have the skills for this, but I’ll do my best to not cause any problems. (Outdoor Wear SSR, translation from here.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All of this is at odds with the way he wants to be perceived, to a certain extent. Look at Trey’s vignettes enough, and you’ll find him asking characters, “is that how I come off? Is that how I seem to you?” He’s at once both secure in what he’s good at, and his position of authority, but also cares deeply about the way he’s perceived and how he can warp the perceptions of those around him to suit his needs.
Tumblr media
Even further still, it filters down into how Trey dresses, and his general presentation. Now, this is where it does get a little subjective, so I want to preface that Night Raven is an institution where some form of eye make-up is part of the formal dress code, where Vil espouses the notion of things not being gendered and remains unchallenged except to teach a lesson, and where in Trey’s own dorm has mandatory face make-up assigned to you in a ceremony by the Housewarden. Trey is markedly uncomfortable and feels out of place with flashier clothes, and noticeably hides from view when dressed in his Starsending regalia (see here, linked twitter thread as part of a larger Trey companion thread.) He has no shame in his pursuits, or how he does his job, but he cannot quite escape the impulse of caring what other people think of him, especially in how he dresses and the way he’s intertwined with Riddle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would also argue this is also interesting to bring up in that Trey’s cards are rarely ever as flamboyant as his peers. His eye makeup is noticeably more restrained than most in his ceremonial robes, despite it being mandatory. The only times that Trey wears anything outside of what would be considered “standard” is during Halloween, and during the Scalding Sands event, both of which are extenuating circumstances (being away from home; a holiday well-known for anything-goes and the ability to let loose and experiment more with presentation.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, finally, another subjective note, but Trey is a character that is near-impossible to extrapolate from his deep relationships to Riddle and Cater, as well as to Rook and Chenya (though the latter two are rarely focused on as much). It’s hard not to read a little into the ways in which the emotional beats of Chapter 1 would not work without a vested interest and deep bond with his fellow Heartslabyul upperclassmen that can be read in a multitude of different ways.
Okay, no THIS is the final note: Trey Clover, what the hell is this:

II. PUTTING IT TOGETHER: Some General Headcanons on Trey and his Sexuality & Presentation.
Trey’s known since puberty; he wasn’t a late bloomer, per say, but the realization he was gay came first as a general disinterest in girls before realizing there were other options.
He isn’t out to his family. This isn’t out of fear, or concern they will not be accepting—far from it, in fact. He thinks of himself as having a fairly good relationship with his parents, despite generally having a hesitation to burden them with his own emotional needs. He knows they’d love him no matter what, but dating has never been at the forefront of his mind. He will tell them when it’s pertinent, likely when he has a boyfriend, but it’s not really something he thinks about often.
Never dated in high school. Likely never kissed anyone during high school.
Night Raven University has been the first time he’s really had the space to consider his own sexuality, as well as slowly begin to experiment with his presentation as a whole. Heartslabyul is a bit of a trial-by-fire in that regard (the brand made him feel a little bit weird at first) but by now, as a third year, he’s become fairly comfortable in his sexuality, even if it’s not something he particularly puts out at the forefront of his personality.
It’s not really a secret, because he would respond with a pretty blasé “Yes” if asked if he was gay, but he doesn’t offer the information readily.
There is lingering insecurity, however, the preternatural fear of a typical cis high school boy: does this make me look gay?
There are times, too, when he can’t quite escape a snap judgment in his head, a fear of being pegged as being outside the norm when he’s already aware of the ways in which he could be misconstrued. He respects the hell out of people who care far less about what people think of their manner and appearance, and there is a part of him that would like to feel more comfortable in himself to experiment with being a little more flashy. For every insistence that it isn’t his style, there is a moment of experimentation with excuse. There’s an innate respect for people who does not have this burden, who dress how they like with little care for how others perceive them. It could be him one day. It’s been a process to get there, and as of his third year, he’s definitely a lot more settled than he was in the past, but there is always room for growth.
III. FINAL THOUGHTS.
This is added dialogue in the EN translation specifically, and so I decided not to really count it in any evidence, but I NEEDED everyone to see this line because it kills me every single time:

Hey how do you cook chicken so often. It's always a huge fucking hassle to me to prep and cook chicken and it's so expensive I usually don't bother. Is there some trick you know for making it easy?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the answer's a lot more simple than ya think. i just have a huge bag of chicken breasts in the freezer. dont remember PRECISELY how much it was, pretty sure under $25 for 10 pounds at costco, and it'll last you several weeks when cooking for one.
the only real "prep" for making it easier is, when i don't have any chicken thawed in the fridge, i take some out of the freezer and put it into a plastic bag in the fridge. then, by the next day, ive got chicken that can be cooked and eaten up in 10 minutes. while still raw, it'll stay good for 2 days refrigerated, and up to 4 if you're stupid.
the breasts are actually a little bigger than i'd like when cooking just for myself, so while they're still frozen i find their middle and split them in half on the hard corner of my kitchen counter.
before seasoning, pat down the breast with a paper towel to get excess moisture off. it'll cook more evenly and make seasoning stick easier. i only use salt and pepper before cooking because im lazy and spiceless (poor), but you can definitely use herbs and whatnot when cooking. also smash down some of the thicker bits of the meat with the bottom of a cup or a mallet if you've got one. as long as the breast isn't thicker than, say, the width of your index finger, it'll cook through very easily, mostly in its own juices. otherwise you'll have a harder time cooking it evenly, though it can still be done. it just takes longer and might not look as nice.
pan-frying is as easy as putting in a splash of olive oil (not a ton, just enough for the breast to rest in), and cooking for 5 to 7 minutes on both sides, depending on how brown you want it. this is on medium-high heat, so i set my stove's little heat dial to 6 or 7.
for reference, the meal i made today (chicken breast, hashbrown, fried kale) was prepared in about 15ish minutes, including prepping the chicken and getting it on the pan, which was done first cuz it takes the longest to cook. the hashbrowns cooked on the far side of the pan away from the chicken, and the kale in my air fryer for 3 minutes. the chicken came off the pan first, and i let it rest for a few minutes while i let the hashbrowns finish cooking.
it sounds like a lotta work, but sincerely the most tedious thing about cooking with chicken is thawing it out, so having a few single-person servings of chicken in the fridge makes the whole process much simpler.
make sure that you're wiping down surfaces and utensils that the chicken touches while still raw, and try not to let any of the other foods at all. salmonella is easily avoidable, but still no joke.

Ok no actually I wanna hear your Trader Joe’s opinions I’m really into the orange strawberry banana juice, the bruschetta sauce, the cranberry lime juice sparkling water and cinnamon schoolbook cookies
You and I agree on the CLSW (cranlime sparkling), haven’t tried the others but I’ll look into them. The normal lime one is also amazing on its own, as well as a mixer for both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Summer must!
There’s so much shit I’m obsessed with, I’ll try and list the most important ones
English crumpets
Mango kefir
Brown sugar oat creamer
Chocolate oat milk
Simpler wines brand sparkling white canned wine
Pfeffernüsse
Chocolate babka
Brioche sliced bread
Danish Kringle
Pinks and whites shortbread cookies
Joe Joe’s gluten free classic Oreo knock off cookie
Madras lentils (boxed kind is good too)
Canned giant baked beans in tomato sauce
The non joes brand oat milk coffee and kombucha but you can get those anywhere
Their candles, two in one grapefruit mint hair wash (I despise two in one products but this one doesn’t foam and is more of a cleansing conditioner I use in between shampoo and regular conditionings), and many other non food items. I’ve bought their towels, seasonal decor (usually those felt garlands), face lotions and oils. Loved all of them. Usually I only restock on the lotion, hand soap, and lavender laundry bags. Their detergent is nice tho, and I’ve also gotten their wool laundry balls but you really only ever gotta buy them like once. They also usually have pretty cute cards at the checkout! I like their cheaper flowers too, but there’s also a lot of very cute seasonal items they carry that I just can’t justify buying bc of price (have you seen their felt sunflowers? So adorable)
Simpler times potato chips
Crispy Crunchy Champignon Mushroom Snack
Fruit leather bars
Dried orange rings
Lox (labeled as smoked salmon iirc)
Both their Tunisian and kalamata olive oil
Vodka sauce
Roasted red pepper and tomato canned soup
Canned vegetable soup
Gone bananas chocolate covered frozen bananas (gone berry crazy strawberries are good too but like a dollar or two more expensive)
Jasmine rice in the frozen isle
Lime popsicles
Steak and stout meat pie
Pastry Bites Feta Cheese & Caramelized Onions
Canned tuna*
*especially with the gluten free microwaveable mac n cheese (I’m not gluten free if you’ve noticed, I literally just prefer some of their gluten free products. Same with the oat milk. I’m not lactose free but I just really like it)
Most of the frozen wontons I’ve tried
Chimichurri rice (goes great with the aforementioned roasted red pepper box soup, and chopped onions, green peppers, and spinach cooked in a wok)
Chicken sausage
Butternut squash gnocchi, iirc the potato gnocchi is good too
Most of their dried pastas
Almond and chocolate filled frozen croissants
The bars of chocolate you find at the check out that come in packs of threes
The weird meat sticks at the checkout too
Frozen hashbrowns
For whatever reason, their frozen green beans and asparagus is so much better than other generic brands I’ve tried
Any of the canned olives but esp the kalamata
Sun dried tomatoes
The produce is okay, a little pricey but they had brown Mexican tomatoes once that fucked hard. The herbs trustworthy too but really where is it not
Any of their chocolate covered nuts
Their fucked up chocolate covered chips, sometimes found in their snack mixes
Peanut butter pretzel snacks
Their dried seaweed isn’t my fav, but it’s not bad. I think it’s overpriced tho but tbf I usually get huuuge, less flavored packs from Costco
Pine nuts but good Gd are they expensive
They have cute, weird heirloom hybrid squashes during the fall a lot too that are pretty tasty
Things I’ve gotten from there that I hated? I didn’t like their orange chicken, ANY of the cereals I’ve gotten from there oddly enough, their pecorino Romano only comes grated and mixed iirc and I didn’t care for it. Some of their beers have made me scowl but also those are all random brands. But their wine (yes, even SHAW. But shoutout to coco bon red blend and blue fin moscato RIP!) has never does me wrong…except for any other flavor of the simpler wines canned ones. I can only do the sparkling white and literally no else I've forced to drink it has liked it! some of their salads have done me wrong. the canned chickpeas and dolmas were off. and some of their pricy juice mixes left me a bit disappointed.

Going To Costco with Jake Jensen
Tumblr media
It's that time of the month!
It's time for you and Jake to go to Costco.
You get there early to do the cans and bottles,
Jake grabs the SUV sized cart.
You made the list.
Jake, when left to his own devices, will NEVER make a list.
Which is why he spends more money that he intends to.
You show your membership card to the greeter.
First thing's first.
Jake has to look at every computer, every tablet, every phone, and every TV.
Tumblr media
Then, Jake sees a few old-school arcade games.
Of course, Jake has to look at every one.
It takes longer than you intended because Jake has to touch and look at every electronic and device.
Eventually, you and Jake make your way to the toilet paper.
But you get a two pack of sweatpants and a two pack of T-shirt.
You basically live in sweats when you're home.
Which Jake finds incredibly sexy and cute.
You go to the bakery section, and get muffins, carrot and chocolate cupcakes.
Tumblr media
You and Jake get the toilet paper, the bottled water, and the seltzer water.
You and Jake also get frozen pizza, gluten free chicken nuggets (those are GOOD!), fish sticks, and you even get fruit and veggies.
You get the Cherry Barbecue chips, and you get two bags because they don't last too long between the both of you.
(If you haven't had these, try them. They're good, and they're Michigan made! I'm a Michigander, and I love these things. Cherry barbecue sauce is tasty if you do it right.)
You get granola bars, some chocolate chip cookies, oatmeal bites, even bread, and breakfast bites to have as a mid-morning snack.
You even make sure to get plenty of kibble, wet food, and doggy toys and doggy treats for Mario.
Tumblr media
You also get a huge thing of both plain and peanut M & M's, cheese and caramel popcorn (Chicago or Detroit popcorn, depending on which city you are in-I just call it cheese and caramel corn), and Sander's sea salt caramels (another good thing, trust me a jar doesn't last too long in the house, because we ALL eat it, no matter how hard we resist).
You get coffee and vitamins, with a huge pack of Coke and Pepsi for Jake.
Jake pays for the purchase, and you go to the food court and get you and Jake a slice of pizza and some vanilla soft serve.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You put the pizza and soft serve in a box.
You and Jake arrive home, and you put the lunch in the kitchen.
You put the soft serve in the freezer.
You and Jake unload the car.
Tumblr media
After you and Jake put everything away, you both change into your sweats, and you even wear one of Jakes really big graphic tees, with on of his hoodies over it.
Jake is in his sweats, graphic tees, and hoodie.
You and Jake have been together for two years, living together for one, so you two dress alike, even though you and Jake both work from home.
Jake literally pretends to be annoyed by it, but he finds this incredibly sexy deep down.
Tumblr media
You both eat your pizza.
You grab two bottles of water, and you put some lemonade mix in it.
You both have lemonade.
You then eat your dessert.
After, you two try to watch a movie, but you both fall asleep on the couch.
Jake grabs a blanket, and he covers you both with a blanket.
You both sleep for the rest of the afternoon, and you order Chinese for dinner.
Tumblr media
Because screw it, you're both WAY too lazy to cook tonight.
You read your book after you're done, and Jake plays a video game for a bit.
Eventually, you two fall asleep in bed later that night, but after you two have some adult fun time activities.
That's to help burn off lunch and dinner.
You and Jake wouldn't trade this for the world.

🍁Happy Thanksgiving🍁
Canadian Thanksgiving falls on the second Monday of October each year. I hardly ever see anyone mention it so I'm gonna do it!
Living in Japan makes it difficult to find the traditional Thanksgiving fixings, particularly turkey. So for this year's spread we've got: roast chicken with cranberry BBQ sauce, homemade perogies from scratch with kielbasa sausage (procured from a specialty meat shop in Nasu), lasagna from scratch, mascarpone dinner rolls from Costco, and a pumpkin pie, also from scratch! I even had to boil and puree the pumpkins myself. My other Canadian co-worker doesn't drink alcohol so we made mulled apple juice to drink which I think may be my new winter staple.
Put apple juice in a pot, add a cinnamon stick, a couple of whole cloves, some allspice berries, and a touch of maple syrup and let it simmer on low heat on a back burner. Hot, tasty, and simple!
Don't forget to be thankful for the good things around you. Happy autumn!

Food items I am never without.
I like to cook, so I’m constantly picking up oddball ingredients for Some Recipe I found on a blog (usually Smitten Kitchen). But there is some stuff I just ALWAYS keep in stock.
1. Thomas’ Everything Bagel Thins. I eat these for breakfast almost all the time when I’m at home (which is 4 days out of 7). I eat them with cream cheese, Everything Bagel seasoning from TJ’s, and a salted tomato slice. Perfection. They’re also good with some schmear of your choice and lunch meat. A full bagel is just too much starch for me, these are perfect.
Tumblr media
2. Pre-cooked bacon. I buy this gargantuan envelope from Costco. It lasts a few months and is well worth it. Two strips in a folded-over paper towel for 50 seconds and you’ve got nice crisp bacon, for eating, crumbling on a salad, putting in eggs, or in my case, making a wrap sandwich. It’s so much quicker, easier and neater than cooking up bacon from raw.
Tumblr media
3. Mission low-carb tortillas. I don’t particularly keep low-carb but these taste exactly like regular tortillas so why not? My go-to work-at-home-day lunch is a wrap made with these, lettuce, chicken strips (which I either cook up myself or get at Costo, they sell great packs of them), pickled red onions (which I make myself by the boatload and am never without), mayo and two strips of bacon. Sometimes I’ll make a quick-and-dirty fish taco with frozen fish sticks in the air fryer, some coleslaw or broccoli slaw mix (or just lettuce in a pinch), pickled red onions and chili sauce. They’re also good to make egg wraps.
Tumblr media
4. Frozen acai berry bowls with granola. Another Costco find. I tote one of these to work for morning breakfast and sometimes have them for a snack. They’re really good. One minute in the micro direct from frozen makes them still freezy but soft enough to stir up. This is the item that makes me want a chest freezer for my basement - they come in packs of six and I just don’t want to be at Costco every two weeks.
Tumblr media
4. Wasa crispbread. I eat this all the time. When I do avocado toast, it’s on these. A schmear of cashew spread, avocado, lemon olive oil and either salt, dill seasoning from TJ’s or Tajin.
Tumblr media
5. Crystal Light. This is what I drink 90% of the time (although Spindrift seltzer has been gaining ground of late). I don’t make up a pitcher of it. I mix up six packs each of lemonade and iced tea together to make Arnold Palmer Crystal Light, put it in a lil dispenser, and mix it up by the glass in these big 30 oz plastic hockey game souvenir tumblrs which are surprisingly sturdy and useful. I go through this so much that I order the packages by the dozen from Amazon on Subscribe & Save. It really helps me put down enough water every day.
Tumblr media
6. Taylor Farms chopped salad kits. These kits are the BOMB and they make a very satisfying, big salad. I usually add some chopped chicken and/or hard boiled egg to give it some protein. They have MANY flavors. Creamy Dill Pickle is my favorite.
Tumblr media
7. Mini snacking cucumbers. This one’s hard because they go bad fast. TJ’s has the best ones although the Costco ones are good too but only intermittenly available. I eat these like candy, dipped in Tajin (something else I am never without).

Homecooking [Dec ed]
The last homecooking post of 2023~
But 1st, here's a Starbucks drink I got - too sweet! I wasn't a fan but I've tried it & it is a pass for me.
Tumblr media
Oh & here's another one from earlier in the month:
Tumblr media
It was alright... will stick to my triple shot iced Americano though. Just plain & simple.
So why the influx of Starbucks drinks?
2 reasons: I got Starbucks giftcards so I have Starbucks money to spend that I didn't . .. pay for haha & more importantly, I don't have a new routine yet =( I didn't change location of employment but my POE changed & as a result, some things aren't the way they were anymore. Under the former boss, there was free tea & coffee available. I didn't normally drink the coffee but it was there. I would oftentimes bring my own tea/coffee & use hot water to make it but hot water during the day time is like . .. a limited resource. I don't know why/how the water lines/systems work but I think more ppl use it during the day time & once the reservoir is out, it doesn't get refilled??? But it's a hot + cold water dispenser so I don't get it. Anyway, the point is - I can't make my own coffee/tea anymore. So I've been going to Starbucks *Sigh* I really don't wanna go bcos it takes time to get there so it cuts into my break.. . but I need to figure something out =/ like get up even earlier to make coffee?
Now let's go onto the homecooking.
Tumblr media
Pesto pasta!
Tumblr media
Fried rice with chicken breast & baby bokchoy; topped with dried seaweed.
Tumblr media
Microwaved dumpling & a small Korean soy bean paste stew with noodles. Okay, I've never microwaved dumplings before. .. it was not good! I added some water so it wouldn't be too dry. Micowaved it once & felt it wasn't ready yet so I added a bit more water & microwaved again. The 'skin' was weird =/ the filling (pork + corn) was okay but the skin was patchy & I'm not even entirely sure if it was fully cooked. I figured if the pork is cooked, the thin wrapper should be, right? Bleeeeh
Tumblr media
Cold noodles + seafood dumplings & kimchi. The seafood dumplings don't look appealing at all but they were not bad. The skin is weird though. .. I think it's rice flour.
Tumblr media
Tiramisu from Costco. 7.5/10
Tumblr media
Udon with baby bokchoy, tofu, egg, & the 'tempura' from the tempura udon kit.
Tumblr media
Pesto pasta again with another kind of pasta. I forgot the name of these but I like the texture of these noodles.
Tumblr media
Instant noodle hehehe with tofu, egg, sausage & cucumber.
Tumblr media
I experimented with new drinks during my week-long vacation. This was great! Not sharing what it is :P I've made this twice; 2nd time better. But it's the process. It is time-consuming.
Tumblr media
Yubu-chobap; ie: tofu pockets stuffed with rice.
Tumblr media
Mini plain kimbaps. I had leftover seasoned rice from the yubu-chobap so I rolled the remainder into these mini seaweed rolls.
Tumblr media
Curry chicken udon
Tumblr media
Homemade pho with leftover breakfast hashbrown lol
Tumblr media
Deep fried oysters. These turned out really well IMHO. (used the frozen oysters from Hmart)
Tumblr media
Pretending to be fancy.
Tumblr media
Kimchi fried rice & dumpling+ramyeon soup.
So yeah .. despite it being a week into the new yr already, this is the final 2023 homecooking post :P
Any plans/goals for the new year in terms of cooking & eating. ..? Nothing in particular. I wanna practice latte art consistently. Like I said, I can't drink hot milk or cream so that doesn't work well with latte art practice lol yeah I don't have much plans. ..visit Korea again? xD

Fried Rice Spice Recipe
Add rice and carrots, stirring till evenly coated. Spread evenly on a big sheet pan lined with parchment paper or sprayed generously with no stick cooking spray. For the most effective, tender-chewy fried-rice texture, use day-old cooked rice, straight from the refrigerator. The components record is just about what you’d count on for a comparatively unhealthy frozen meal like this.
Tumblr media
Costcuisine isn't affiliated with Costco or any of its suppliers. In the event that Costcuisine receives compensation for a post from the producer of a product or some other third party, the arrangement might be clearly disclosed . That’s why care ought to be taken to make sure that you don’t overdo it when using onion powder. As for elements that pair nicely with mint, consider these which are typically used in Mediterranean cuisine such as tomato, feta cheese, olives, couscous, lemon juice, or zest.
Sasa Particular Chicken Fried Seasoning
Bake 5 minutes longer or until eggs are cooked by way of. When including oregano to your fried rice recipe, it’s greatest to start with only a pinch or two if you’re using the dried form. Flaxseed pairs nicely with different elements such as garlic, onions, cooked vegetables, and even fruits like apples or oranges.
It’s exhausting to describe, however it’s usually labeled as spicy, peppery, and either heat or sizzling.
Not only have we demonstrated consistency by method of our quality and stellar market popularity, you'll by no means catch us dwelling on past glories.
In phrases of how much to add to your recipe, it’s best to begin out small after which adjust as desired.
HEAT oil in large nonstick skillet on medium-high heat.
Our merchandise outline flavours, taste and aroma and provides life to all types of food delicacies.
To the identical skillet, warmth 1 tablespoon sesame oil.
Not solely that, however cauliflower rice is far lower in calories and carbs than both white and brown rice. Costco’s plain cauliflower rice supplies about 25 energy and solely 2 grams internet carbs per ⅔ cup. Plain steamed brown rice supplies 166 energy and 32 grams web carbs per ⅔ cup . To make Costco cauliflower rice stir fry within the microwave, dump the contents of one of many small baggage in a microwave-safe bowl. Mix oil, water, soy sauce and Seasoning Mix in massive bowl.
Welcome To Costcuisine!
To get essentially the most out of this scrumptious ingredient, it’s best to toast them first in a dry pan till they begin to pop. Dill pairs nicely with many other elements similar to garlic, onion, lemon juice, tomatoes, potatoes, mushrooms, and fish. For some sweetness, strive including bell peppers or tomatoes.
youtube
This is probably the most well-liked technique of cooking cauliflower rice stir fry. The directions are proper on the package, however I tweak them by cutting back on the oil. The veggies are fairly minimal and small – and the flavor is generally center of the highway.
Other Best-selling Furikake
Place the remainder again in the freezer for future meals. When it comes to fried rice recipes specifically, I suggest adding about one tablespoon of chopped green onions per cup of raw rice. Cooked Costack Jollof spice and cauliflower rice stir fry last up to 3-4 days in the fridge. You can even freeze cooked cauliflower rice in freezer storage bags which have the air pressed out. Wondering tips on how to cook dinner frozen cauliflower rice on the stove? Chicken fried rice is the comfort dish of Chinese meals. This classic take on the favourite is simple to make and makes the proper lunch or dinner. Transfer to serving bowls, then top with sliced onion, lox, capers, and a pat of cream cheese to create a composed look. Onion powder has a sharp, pungent taste that's harking back to the fresh onion. Dill is an fragrant herb with a unique taste that can be described as candy and brilliant, similar to the style of anise, parsley, and celery. Mint has a singular and refreshing taste that can be described as subtly candy with an underlying cool sensation. Basil goes well with many other flavors corresponding to garlic, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms, and cheese like feta or mozzarella.

Going to Cosco with Colin Shea, Ransom Drysdale, and Andy Barber
Tumblr media
Going to Costco with Colin Shea
It's that time of the month.
Eva and Colin need to go to Costco.
Eva bring Harper along, who sleeps the entire time in her infant seat in the huge grocery cart.
Tumblr media
Colin shows the greeter your membership card.
Colin and Eva both enter the store, and immediately stop at the front display of pastry goods.
Eva puts the sour cream cake in the cart. It's only $7.99
Colin and Eva only came here for diapers, bottled water, seltzer water, toilet paper, dishwasher pods, and baby wipes.
Eva wrote everything on a list.
The last time, Colin and Eva spent WAY too much because they both forgot the list.
Colin and Eva get some kibble for Dickens, along with several chew toys, and some Milkbones.
Eva gets the diapers and the waters, and the baby wipes.
Colin also gets the toilet paper, the dishwasher pods, along with two packs of those huge muffins.
Eva gets blueberry and the coffee cake ones.
Colin and Eva also get some jalepeno cornbread.
Colin is going to make chili tonight.
Eva feels that this is a bad idea.
Has she seen this man cook?
He almost burned the house down on their second anniversary as a couple.
Eva decides to help Colin with what she can.
Colin also decides to get burgers, chicken nuggets, some frozen pizza that is by Motor City Pizza Co.
Along with some of those cheese sticks.
Harper screams, and Eva takes her to the lactation room.
Eva breast feeds Harper, and she's now happy as a clam.
Colin also gets some of those organic oatmeal cookie bites that has coconut in it.
Colin has also thrown in those post-natal gummies for Eva.
Eva weren't expecting it, but he does that.
He pays for the items, and it totals well over $100.
Afterwards, Eva and Colin both get a slice of pizza, some water.
For dessert, Colin and Eva both get the hot fudge sundaes.
Colin and Eva make it home.
Colin and Eva spend the afternoon making chili, while both Colin and Eva play and care for Harper.
Dickens never leaves Harper's side, and barks when she cries for something.
Eva smiles and kiss Colin lovingly.
Eva feels lucky that she married Colin.
It's the perfect sense of domestic bliss.

Going to Costco with Ransom Drysdale
You and Ransom need to make a Costco run.
The twins go through diapers and wipes like they're going out of style.
You both didn't realize that you would need to buy double of everything.
Your dad gifted you a Costco membership, so you both could buy diapers, wipes, and baby food and baby formula in bulk.
Ransom commented on how much cheaper buying in bulk was.
This is the trust fund playboy we're talking about!
Tumblr media
You get those Biscoff cookies for him, because they're his favorites.
Along with your famous chocolate chip cookies that you make from scratch.
You need one of those mobility scooters because they make the task of shopping easier for you.
You often get dirty looks when you use the scooter, but those people don't know what's it's like living with a chronic illness.
Not all illnesses are visible. Not all disabilities are visible.
Tumblr media
Ransom puts the Harlan and Katherine in one of the giant carts in their infant seats.
You get the diapers and the wipes, and Ransom also gets you those chocolate cupcakes that you like.
Along with that peanut butter pie you both have your eye on.
He also gets bottled water, seltzer water, toilet paper, and a giant thing of Drumsticks.
You both love Drumsticks, and it's been forever since you actually had an ice cream cone.
With your MS, it's often made it hard to enjoy things, and ice cream cones are one of the few things that you can still enjoy.
Ransom puts some baby clothes in the cart.
He didn't realize that you could find a lot of designer clothes at Costco.
He puts in a cute red and gold dress for Katherine, and a cute black suit for Harlan.
Along with some cute khakis and cute jeans for Harlan, and a cute denim skirt and a cute khaki skirt for Katherine.
Those outfits will be worn for the first Christmas photos, and you agree that they will look cute in them...but Ransom mistakenly put in the newborn size.
You dig through the sizes, and get some that are a few sizes bigger.
The twins will have grown a bit by then, and you explain to Ransom why you have to get baby clothes in larger sizes.
The twins will grow into them.
Ransom pays for the items, and is actually surprised at the total.
He would have paid three times more if you had gotten the same items at the fancy grocery store, the fancy baby store, and at the upscale mall.
Did I mention this is the trust fund playboy we're talking about.
The baby clothes and diapers are getting bought at Costco from now on.
Tumblr media
He was amazed at how cheaper everything was.
You explain that getting the basics here is cheaper than anywhere else, because of the cost per item, which is already on the signs.
Ransom and you get the hot dog meal, and split it, along with churros for dessert.
Ransom had always wanted to try a churro, but never got the chance to growing up.
He realizes that the food doesn't have to be fancy.
He realizes that spending time with you and the twins is important, and taking care of you is also important.
He looks at with love and in awe, and that's not going to change.

Going to Costco with Andy Barber
You and Andy had only been dating for a year and a half, and had recently became engaged.
You two just bought a house, and were making a Costco run for the basics.
He proposed to you when he took you on a date night he planned.
After his divorce, and the death of his ex-wife and his son, he never thought he would find happiness again.
He never thought he would find love again.
He was wrong.
He met you, and you had started your job at a doctor's office.
You often stop at the local coffee place, and that's where you met Andy.
You were both getting coffee, and you two struck up a conversation.
You exchanged contact info, and your first date wasn't soon after.
You both get the toilet paper, the bottled water, the seltzer water, along with the pop-both regular and diet.
You also get the alcohol, the beer and the wine.
You also get the chips, and they have those Great Lake Cherry Barbecue chips that you love, so you buy two bags.
You both were hosting a barbecue at your house for the fourth of July.
You realize that the holiday also is close to Andy's birthday, so you place an order for one of those giant birthday cakes.
Tumblr media
A few days later, the cake is ready, and you go to pick it up.
You have another surprise for Andy, but that needs to wait.
Andy and you both pay for the items, making sure to place each item in one of those giant carts.
The smell of the pizza from the food court is inviting, and you and Andy each get a slice.
Along with those hot fudge sundaes.
Shopping at Costco will be even more fun from now on.

hello tumblr,
I am feeling a little bit stressed today, but what else is new. hmm i had some breakfast this morning with my friend Ben, and it was pretty good, considering how I'm normally not a huge fan of De Neve. It could've been improved tho if there were some pancakes or french toast sticks. After breakfast i came back to my dorm for a nap. it was only supposed to be for 30 minutes, but i ended up going an hour over. so worth it though. after that i headed to Kerckhoff to meet up with some friends and hang out for a bit. On the way there I saw this club selling lattes and picked up an Ube latte! I thought it was kinda mid, but the idea was very interesting :) 6/10
After quickly stopping by I finally made my way to the badge office and i was able to pick up my NEW BRUIN CARD AFTER TWO WEEKS OF NOT HAVING ONE 🥳🥳 that truly made my week tbh.
then after that i hung out with some friends again at Kerckhoff, and while I was there I had a fungi pizza from epic and it was soooooo good.
Afterwards, my friends Hayley, dylan, and James and I got into my car and I drove us to Costco to pick up some snacks for a hangout tonight. Before we left we got some chicken bakes and shared some salmon sushi

I really don’t mean to do so many readmores but trying to be respectful/considerate when something could be significantly triggering, especially if I’m talking about triggering topics in a “negative” view of myself. Talk about weight, calories, exercise, etc. Touches on fatphobia and how fat people are judged.
So a couple weeks ago, right before my 29th birthday, I decided I wanted to try to just get more of my life in routine and attempt to establish some better habits (eg a bedtime routine, keeping skincare up, going back to the gym regularly, cooking more meals instead of snacking on pre-packaged foods, etc). I had 14 weeks until the start of school so it just felt like a good time to start working on these things. Part of this is also that I want to be able to feel good about myself in business casual clothing around other people, since I’m going to be around a lot of people and need to wear business casual a lot of times.
I also thought I might just see if I lose weight during this time since I was focusing so much on “healthier habits” and you know, curious. Even if I “only” lost a few lbs or whatever, I guess I just wanted to know? Also my sister has kept talking about her weight loss despite me saying I’m uninterested (she says she has lost like 25 lbs, and was barely in the “obese” weight category btw, eating like 2000 calories- I know, numbers talk, but this is why it’s under a readmore). So I was just thinking like, i might not lose weight like her since I’m me, but maybe I could a little bit too? I am actually in the “obese” category, I store my fat in the dreaded mid-section so like, and I’m not muscular, so while we all know BMI is shit, even my body fat percent IS considered obese. (FWIW, I’m a small fat I guess).
We all know, I’m recovered from atypical ana, so primarily weight loss focused efforts are usually not safe for me as I can get super restrictive again and in that mindset. So anyway weight loss has nothing to do directly with my goals for the next 14 weeks, but I think I had it in my head that since I came off of like several months of essentially existing on the frozen chicken melts from costco and skittles and other candy from winco, healthy habits would likely lead to some reduction, yeah?
I initially didn’t weigh myself but did on my birthday. After that, I decided to only weigh myself on Mondays (new week starts). Anyway I’m not expecting huge results or anything, but since my birthday I have basically stayed the same, actually going up a little bit.
Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t really care, but… I also didn’t lose any weight last week so I decided to kinda see if my eating habits were actually conducive to weight loss. For my birthday, I celebrated two days, and I had gone out to lunch one day and to a movie and dinner the other day, so I just assumed like, water weight, took in more calories those days, etc, not a big deal. But I guess I had challenged myself for last week to just really do my best to stick with it without being too hard on myself. I went back to weighing my food to track it during the week (less rigidly so, I suppose, since its not like I’m upset if I can’t finish a meal, or if my husband takes a blueberry off my plate, etc). For the five weekdays, I averaged 1450 calories in (uncertain how that ended up such a nice round number lol) and, according to my watch, 2710 calories out. I don’t always trust the watch because it logs my weight lifting through my app which always says I burn more calories than I think I really do (if I was lifting closer to my max and/or doing less resting, maybe, but I’m resting like 75% of the session). So I kinda suspect actual burn to be like 2400-2500.
I know over the weekend I eat a little more, less protein, more “eating out,” as I refuse to sacrifice enjoyment with my husband. Like I won’t refuse to go get a Mac and cheese bowl with him just because I can’t track it. Saturday, I’m not really sure. He brought home lunch and I ended up eating several tortilla chips, barely had any ice cream he brought home because our favorite is discontinued so he bought another brand that I didn’t like, and I had a few handfuls of cashews but like didn’t actually eat a MEAL. Yesterday while I didn’t track, we went out for Mac and cheese bowls for lunch, and I ate half of mine then and half for dinner. I also did eat grapes, veggies with a Greek yogurt dip I made, and a smallish bagel (package says 230 calories) at bedtime because I hadn’t had a lot of fruits and veg especially that day and wanted more.
I just can’t see where literally 5k calories could come from over my weekend to offset my week. Which makes me wonder if my thyroid is doing okay. Like over the last couple of weeks I expected to see some decline in weight, even just a lb or two. I keep seeing people thinner than me lose even more weight and it’s… yeah it’s discouraging, not because of the weight loss exactly, but more because it makes me really curious WHY my body seems to suck.
The thing is, it’s so hard for a fat person to be taken seriously when they are concerned about their thyroid. “If you aren’t losing weight, you aren’t doing it right.” We are told we can’t REALLY be tracking correctly- clearly we are eating more than we think, we aren’t tracking every bite, we NEED to be obsessive and THEN we will see results and if you don’t see results, you aren’t obsessive enough. I’ve had a fucking eating disorder; I know how to be “obsessive enough.” I don’t want to be tracking calories like this at all, but I especially don’t want to have to spend like a month avoiding all fun foods and declining things I enjoy with people I enjoy JUST to get good enough data for people to take me seriously when I say I’m concerned for my thyroid health?
Ofc there may be other reasons that I just can’t think of. I don’t think it’s GI tract stuff given how my bathroom habits have been. I guess maybe it could be that, in response to going to the gym again, my body is storing more glycogen, and I’m giving it appropriate carbs so it’s doing do. I don’t feel particularly sore or water-retention-y so I don’t really think it’s that. I can’t remember when I’m actually supposed to take my ring out for a “period.” The “right” thing to do here is just keep doing what I’m doing for another couple of weeks, let a month go before I get really worried.
Really what it all boils down to: how other people perceive me. I don’t really care what I look like to myself. I’m perfectly content to just be in my pajamas at home all the time and eat how I want to eat and what fuels me best etc. But after years of rejection and being teased for how I look, and now starting a new professional path in which I will 10000% be judged by how I look, I have to think about how I look to others and I expect “the worst” because that’s the data I have. Telling me to shift my thinking and expect people won’t care or whatever doesn’t honor my actual experience. Yes there are people who don’t care and will be kind no matter what, and yes there will always be people who judge you harshly no matter what too, but my actual loved experience and the actual data I have says that more people judge me harsher on my body’s appearance than they do with straight-sized individuals, and more people judge me harshly for traits related to my neurodivergence/ autism than they do for neurotypicals.
And ofc when people like me try tl share why it might be harder for us to fit into the box of “socially acceptable enough to not be so harshly judged,” we are, again, judged for THAT.
Idk I have other thoughts but I’m just disappointed with what I can’t do lately. And it’s depressing and nobody wants to really listen to depressing shit so this is my little outlet of frustration.

My story
Hey! My name is Kacey Cuevas, and I am the pickiest eater you’ll ever meet. Pickle on my sandwich? Send it back! No, you can’t just “take them off”, I’ll taste the pickle juice. Side salad touched my steak? I’m not eating that side. Sounds annoying, I know, but this is my reality. I remember one Thanksgiving my father had it with ordering me pizza when there was a whole smorgasbord in the kitchen. He made me sit at the table and try a piece of turkey. He said if I didn’t like it, I could spit it out and he’d order me the pizza, but I had to at least try. So I did, and boy, did Dad learn his lesson that year. I had him carve me off the smallest bite of white meat he can and I pushed it around my plate for a good five minutes. Then I picked it up, inspected it, and tried to hold my breath when I put it in my mouth. I pushed the piece of turkey over to the back of my jaw in hopes to just chew and avoid it touching my taste buds (a 10-year old’s logic LOL). The second I bit down into the turkey and tasted the flavors of my mom’s special spice blend I gagged. My face turned white, I got nauseous and then, you may be able to guess what happened next. I vomited all over the Thanksgiving dinner table. Safe to say we all ate pizza that night.
Since then, my family didn’t really try to push new foods on me. My mom kept the freezer stocked with dino shaped chicken nuggets, tater tots, pizza rolls, and frozen hamburger patties. At family parties, my mom stopped at Wendys or McDonalds to make sure I ate before the party. (fun fact: I had my driver stop at a Wendys drive through on my high school prom to grab some nuggets so I didn’t have to starve throughout the night.) Living at home, my mom would control the snacking (my nickname was the Chip Monster) and she would try to make healthier versions of my comfort foods. However, when I moved out on my own, things got dangerous. UberEats and DoorDash were my best friends. I also got myself a membership at Costco and I had access to chips, cookies, and soda in bulk. After living on my own for a couple of years, I was completely unrecognizable. I had put on about sixty pounds from my high school weight. I struggled to walk my dog, and I started to feel like I no longer fit comfortably in my car.
It wasn’t until my best friend decided to throw a Halloween party one year that I realized I needed to change. In September of 2020, I set a goal to lose ten pounds by the time of the party. It was going to be the first time seeing my friends since the start of the pandemic and there were even going to be people I hadn’t seen since high school and I was mortified for them to see how out of control I had gotten. By the time the party came around, I was down about fifteen pounds! I was feeling way better and although I still had a long way to go, I was so proud of myself for sticking to it this time! I had tried to lose the weight countless times in the past before it got out of control, but I failed because I followed all these fad diets, tried weight loss supplements, over worked myself doing exercises I hated at the gym, and I was searching high and low for a “magic pill” or an easy way out.
I have spent the last few years getting to know my body and what works for me. I have dedicated hours to researching and learning about sustainable weight loss and now, I am ready to share that all with you! If your story sounds anything like mine and/or you are struggling in your weight loss journey, this is the blog for you! Stay tuned for tips, motivation, low calorie dupes for your favorite foods and more.
