Chihiro and Chiaki, two people so different yet so similar.

Both are geniuses in different forms. Both are rather androgynous in certain ways. Both have the best relationship in small families. And both have heavily doting lovers that can be much for the quiet beans.

“No Mondo, you should move the ribbons higher up!” Shouted Kiyotaka as he carries a box of streamers in. The ex biker leader looked at the rule stricker with curious yet slightly annoyed beautiful eyes. “It’s fine Taka, they don't care anyway.” Across the large room Jataro sits on Nagito’s shoulders as he finishes tying up a set of balloons with a smile. Questioning green eyes stare at the set up as a head tilt, “Maybe we should’ve gotten the blue balloons–” Started Hajime but the white haired lad stops him with a smile, “Chiaki will love the balloons darling. They look like Kirby so I’m sure she’ll love them even more.”

The four adults and the three past Warriors of Hope work like busy bees in a hive with different decorations of many colors for the two special adults in both lives, lovers for one side and in-laws on the other side. As the two birthday people are away for work they all work very hard on the party perfect for any and every birthday they have.

And speaking of the two—

“And that’s the folder complete for the day.”

Chihiro stretched and cracked his back with a soft grunt, his shorter hair being fixed by his hands. He looked to his right at Chiaki yawning and chugging the last drops of her special made coffee, her whole mode relatable for the equally tired adult. The gamer locked eyes for her step-brother and smiles droopily as she stands on her feet, dressed business casual but with a Legend of Zelda tie around her neck and Sailor Moon jewelry attached to her. “Shall we go Chihiro?” The shorter smiles and stands, dressed in a rather cute business casual attire with a cute pair of black shorts over black tights and his white button up tucked in and hugged with a dark green closed waistcoat. “We shall.”

Back at the party location the final touches were completed as guests started to fill in. One side of the room was perfectly measured and balanced of the green gamer aesthetic with a few fountains already working with the chocolate and some type of soda drink in perfect harmony of the sweet and savory snacks and treats on the tables, slowly fading to the soft pinks and blues of the Kirby themed decor equally measured well but also a touch messy but in a way it was still charming, and both tied beautifully as the center of the party was perfectly meshed with a 80’s arcade theme of nostalgia and amusement that’s fun for everyone of all ages as shown with the food and games.

Masaru glanced at the large window and hurried to the others in a happy beaming grin that made his trio of parents so proud as he ran and leapt over the stairway’s bar and skidded to a stop by the snack bar, “The limo is here!” Everyone was quick with last minute touches and putting gifts away before Mondo and Hajime came out at the same time to welcome the two who exit from the long black car.

Mondo was first to welcome the two with a sweet kiss on the head of his partner, while the detective was a bit slower as he hugged his wife close and kissed her nose, causing both of them to scrunch their faces up and giggle. “Welcome home.” They both said, both mildly glaring at the other as if they stole a project idea. The reaction alone caused more laughs. “Thank you Mondo.” Said Chihiro as he bent his way up and pecked a kiss on the tallest cheek. “And thank you Hajime.” Said Chiaki as she steals a kiss on her husband’s mouth by surprise. The group of four walked towards the building, the guides a bit more eager in steps than the smaller ones which earned some soft humorous smiles from the gamers. The second the two entered the building with the doors being held the sweet scent of goodies and the happy smiling face quickly waft them both hard on their feet, instantly sounds of streamers popping and glittering gleams of shine fall onto them are quickly heard and witnessed right at the same time.

How room arrangements would go in the Ishimaru-Fujisaki household:

Takaaki and Taichi share the master bedroom which is near the twins' bedroom. They have a king sized bed which can fit all the kids and them.

Kiyotaka and Kiyondo share a room together and sleep in bunk beds. They used to share a room with Chihiro before Chiaki and Monomi moved in with them. They both try to keep their things apart from each other and they do have a lot of issues. Especially with how they keep the room. But they don't dislike their arrangement.

Chiaki, Chihiro and Monomi share a room. Chiaki and Monomi share one bed and on the other side of the room, Chihiro has his. The three of them have decorated the room with a lot of nerdy shit. And they really just enjoy each other's company as their room is very comfy and just a calm space for the three of them.

I know you said they were self-explanatory. But...do you think you could explain the appeal for you in the ships and friendships listed in the "Still Really Like" tier?

Sure, no problem!

Generally, the vibe is that these are the ships that I most like for him, within the constraints that the other person has to be an Ultimate. (Since Makoto and Hajime, the non-Ultimates, are already in the highest tier.) For the most part, I like him with characters who will go against the grain of his more unsavory convictions, because the part of me that is really bothered by his thing with Ultimates wants to see him recover from it. (It's the burnt out former gifted kid in me, I think. And that hyperlink is to a song of the same name. It's a good song.) But to break it down more specifically:

Komanami: I like their interactions in the game, and since I mentioned that I'm kind of unenthusiastic to ship Nagito with any Ultimates, Chiaki is up there because, of the Ultimates, she at least would really push back against a lot of his stuff regarding talent. They both like games, they both have surface-level mellow vibes, and I love the height difference. The fact that she's willing and able to politely ask him to stop doing what he's doing is nice. And I think he's someone who would gladly just let her sleep on him.

Komazumi: Similar to Chiaki, of all the Ultimates, Mahiru is (and sees herself as) pretty normal, and she has/had a reserve course best friend. There's enough in place for her to refute some of Nagito's stuff, and she's often assertive and considerate. She thought to bring him food when he was tied up. Her comment that he would make a good stay at home dad (or whatever it was) in SDR2 also helps. And I think the fact that Mahiru is someone who will readily admit to not being okay is good for him. Also, luck and photography can be an interesting combination.

Kamukoma: This is opposite vibes from Komanami and Komazumi, but Izuru and Nagito's very similar baggage can work well in a scenario where they're both trying to heal. Or be an absolute powder keg, in a scenario where they're not. I ship them both with Makoto more, but I do still ship them with each other. Partially because there's too much good fanart of them not to. And partially because, as I've mentioned in the past, I have a personal fondness for equilateral triangles.

Nagito x Chihiro: Okay, so here the ship answers the question of "If I saw Nagito do an out-of-the-box extreme gesture of devotion for someone, which character(s) would I be cool with having on the receiving end?" and also "Which character(s) could use a slightly over-enthusiastic pep talk?" (I think Nagito would really flourish if he gave someone a pep talk and they actually brightened up and got inspired. He dreams of that kind of win.)

Like Mahiru, Chihiro will just openly not be okay. Chihiro will openly cry. Chihiro will openly ask for advice. I think those things would be good for Nagito. But also, Chihiro wants to "become stronger", and I think having someone willing to go to misguided lengths to cheer them on and help them out would be a positive thing. Nagito would love an Ultimate with a specialized intellectual talent who wants to push themself past their current limits. Would they potentially be a bad influence on each other? Yes, but in a way I'd be interested to explore.

And now for the platonic:

Sonagito: This one is mainly because Sonia is one of the characters who doesn't seem to hate him, in SDR2. Her reactions to him are very focused on what behavior of his she dislikes, not disliking him as a person. And Nagito tries to stop Teruteru from harassing her and makes fun of Kazuichi when she rejects him. They have a cute thing going on, is what I'm saying.

I think there would be more here if she were only born a princess and not also hypercompetent at being a princess, speaking a bunch of languages, etc. If it was just "She was born with her station and that's enough to call her an Ultimate," then that could begin to pull a thread, but she's just genuinely excellent, which would only reinforce his belief in the concept of Ultimates, so that's one for the minus column, lol. Don't get me wrong, I love Sonia's skills for her character; just in the context of her being friends with Nagito, it doesn't advance what I would want it to. And that's fine.

Nagito & Taka: Their diametrically opposed ideologies provide exactly what I want out of any Nagito relationship. And Nagito's very particular vibe of "regular rule breaker who is highly respectful toward authority" would be cool with Taka's very particular vibe of "wants to be friends with everyone but also no running in the halls". They both have trouble coming across how they want to, with their peers, and they both have a kind of callous way of expressing themselves sometimes, and they're both highly principled in very different ways. It'd be fun to explore a friendship between them.

Nagito & Kyoko: They're both so smart, and they have such different vibes. (This isn't an actual part of the character analysis, but I'm thinking of the Danganronpa Abridged joke/moment where Kyoko goes "No. Shut up," when Leon tries to say something during the first trial of THH, and comparing it to the canon moment where Nagito just says a knowing "I see," when Gundham says something in the fourth trial of SDR2. Does that make sense?)

They just know stuff, and they're both sitting on it, Nagito with a smile and Kyoko with a stoic expression. They could both just silently absorb and process information and both know that the other has picked up on what they have picked up on without saying a word. And then, if they're working together, both use it to corner someone verbally. And if they're no working together, then they try to work around each other mentally and that's also very fun!

Honestly, I love the idea of Nagito smiling sunnily at Kyoko and Kyoko staring stone-faced back and they are best friends, and I also love the idea of Nagito smiling sunnily at Kyoko and Kyoko staring stone-faced back and they are enemies. But it's also cool if they're not quite either one but they just have an understanding of each other that most don't have. Or if they're both dating Makoto and they just get each other in an almost kind of tense way, maybe accepting, maybe even hostile, just any angle for those two could be so cool.

My Danganronpa Ships Hands Headcanons

Note: I'm a multishipper

- Naegiri (KyokoxMakoto)

Kyoko's hands are cold which is surprising considering that she always keeps them under gloves. Their cold and rough because of her scars. Kyoko's hands are her biggest insecurity, she hates looking at them. Makoto on the other hand (pun intended), loves his girlfriend's hands. He loves when she uncovers them and takes his hand. Whenever Kyoko choses to take off her gloves, Makoto gives Kyoko little kisses on her hands.

Makoto's hands are warm and soft. They're also small, he often wishes that they were bigger so they could cover Kyoko's hands to make her hands warmer. Kyoko loves when she gets to touch his hands but she's always afraid he won't like how her hands feel.

- Sakuraoi (Sakura x Aoi)

Sakura's hands are big warm and soft but she doesn't realize that at all. Sakura is always a bit afraid of holding Hina's hands. Aoi's hands are small, she's worried that she'll hand up hurting her with her strength. But Aoi absolutely adores Sakura's hands. She loves when her hands can hide in Sakura's hands and just feel the warmth and softness. Aoi always gives Sakura hand kisses and makes sure to encourage Sakura into giving holding hands when she doesn't feel to confident.

- MahiruxPeko

Mahiru has warm hands, Peko has cold hands. Peko isn't used to holding hands with others, whenever she feels Mahiru's soft hands she feels surprised by their warmth. Mahiru loves Peko's hands and once she takes it, she doesn't want to let go.

- MondoxHifumi

Mondo's hands are cold. Whenever Hifumi takes his hand, he offers to help him make it warmer. Mondo pretends to dislike it but absolutely loves when Hifumi holds his hand or kisses it. He would use every occasion to hold Hifumi's hand and make up the weridest excuses, just so he doesn't have to admit that he loves his soft hands.

- KiyotakaxChihiro

Taka has cold hands, when Chihiro takes his hand he immediately starts giving him small kisses on his hands. Taka completely melts when it happens.

- Miu x Kaede

My headcanon is that Miu has nerve damage in her hands. Because of that Miu's hands don't feel heat or cold, so it often leads to injuries such as burns. That disability also leads to

Byakuya's hands are extremely cold while Hiro's are extremely warm. They often have conversations like:

YH: You're hands are so cold

BT: Maybe yours are just too warm

They love to hold hands. They do that all time.

- Mikan x Akane

Mikan's hand tremble a lot when she's nervous. Mikan is worried that her cold hands will push Akane away. But Akane loves kissing her hands. Akane takes every opportunity for Mikan to touch her, she sometimes randomly asks Mikan to check her temperature just so Mikan can touch her.

- Kokichi x Shuichi

Kokichi's hands are warm which was confirmed in the canon.

"He can like about a lot of things but not the warmth of his hand"

Shuichi's are cold. Kokichi always uses that as an excuse to hold Shuichi's hand. Kokichi often gets flustered when Shuichi calls out how warm and nice Kokichi's hands are.

- Toko x Kiyotaka

Toko's hands are actually really nice to touch. They're warm and soft, Taka loves holding them. Toko had no idea that her hands are like that since she never really held hands with anyone.

- Hajime x Chiaki

Chiaki's hands are really nice to touch, they're small and soft. Chiaki loves holding Hajime's hand. Sometimes, he would hold her hand while she plays her Nintendo with one hand. Hajime would get worried she is uncomfortable playing like that so he would let go of her hand but then she will immediately ask him why he let go.
