You're allowed to dislike children, but you still have to be polite and reasonably kind to random ones around you for the same reason you're passingly polite to random adults in you're daily life: Because they are people

Mizuki and Date though like. Imagine being 8 and your parents are filthy rich and going through a bad divorce. Your mom treats you like shit, lashing out at you, hitting you, saying she wishes you were never born all because you were behaving like a child. Your dad is more comforting, but he doesn’t do anything to stop the abuse and he spends his time invested in a completely different family, a girl who you love and look up to but he loves her more than you and it fucking shows. Then your dads new friend, some fucking bachelor in his late 20s, is just like "wow you guys are the worst fucking parents ive ever seen" and next thing you know your dad is sending you off to live with him. And it’s just a massive kick in the head cuz you go from a rich lifestyle to living in some really shitty tiny ass apartment with this guy who’s clearly never been around a child in his entire life and he doesn’t know how to behave and does a really bad job of censoring himself like he has a bunch of dirty magazines that he can’t hide very well cuz it’s literally a studio apartment and also he talks to himself sometimes, it’s really weird. He doesn’t even have the slightest clue what he’s doing
And he’s the best parent you’ve ever had
Because fuck, it all really hurts. You have to cope with having never received any love from anyone, and with the fact that your parents clearly don’t want you and can’t even be bothered to send you with anyone even kinda responsible. And this guy has a scary job with crazy hours and you don’t know anything about him and neither does he. But still, he never once hits you or tells you you’re not allowed to cry. He just gives you space and doesn’t push you to feel any sort of way about him. And sometimes, he’s even kind. He makes you some stew, even though it’s a bit chunky. He lets you sleep in the bed and takes the couch for himself, even though he complains about the massive back pain he’d never trade his spot for a second. He pays attention to events at your school and gives you your favorite stuffed animal when you make good grades, even though you called it ugly. He gets worried sick when you come home with bruises and puts on a goofy voice and trains you to defend yourself and you develop some highly deadly skills and even though it’s really abnormal, he buys you a bench press so you can get stronger. There’s this distance there, and you feel really weird caring about someone who you aren’t related to, but you find yourself wishing it was meant to be like this all along, that maybe, he’s secretly your real dad and he loves you like his real daughter
And when you say "I’m back" he says "welcome home"

gonna be briefly petty on main here cause i've blocked this person since I got into this fandom and i never want to interact with them ever, but I genuinely do not know why you'd trust the person w/ the canon artemis url when they keep dressing up their opinion as fact, cherrypick citations if they use them at all, and keep going onto the posts of new people to be like ACTUALLY THE BOOKS SUCK AND THE AUTHOR SUCKS in what seems to be some bizarre attempt to control new folks' reading experience.
Like I know they're an oldguard BNF and all but holy shit, if I'd interacted with that person literally at all upon getting into the fandom I would have been turned off these books forever. Genuinely don't get it tbh.

Alright I’m curious where the majority of people lie.
I personally think of him as a child because it fits better thematically so thats what i hc him as but I also like the trope of people not looking their age so I don’t mind seeing that either!

AND there are canons where Bruce is perfectly well-adjusted, has hobbies, hangs out with his friends, loves his family, and is a perfectly normal, sweet guy other than the whole "billionaire and Batman" thing. But Alfred gets all the blame and none of the credit with you "Alfred was a bad parent" people.
But??? I never said?? Alfred was bad???

topsy is a great prequel to amelia (which was intended, amelia was written to be a follow-up episode to topsy themeatically) bcuz i keep wanting to punch mr dinkler in the face for his weird misogyny directed @ louise and her win at the end of this episode wasn't enough. I need someone to straight up tell louise it wasn't anything she did and that he's being a misogynistic asshole to a nine year old girl bcuz she's kinda mouthy and rude to him. and amelia is an episode where everyone just tells louise You're Right to be angry. this is fucked. and instead of finding out the truth about thomas edison being a horrible person, she learns the truth about amelia earhart and respects her more and finds comfort in her idol. very different vibes (considering they're 10 seasons apart) but very thematically cohesive

Is there a way to get help for the people witnessing a bunch of terrified children on screen getting medically tortured and thinking that this is the show making said character cool and special and not just an abuse victim? bc this is not only old, it’s bordering on worrying.
Suffering is just suffering. It sure does make you things, but special isn’t one of them.
Child is kidnapped, abused, forced to be complicit in whatever a secret malevolent society forces them to do, has to run away and hide Not Even As Themselves to get away and it barely works for long. Their friend gets murdered. Then, when the society is fed up with them, they erased their memories and past, remove what was done to them from popular history so nobody else will know they existed, and dump them alone and without family back on the planet they were tortured to build. There is a child crying in a barn involved. Then they go on to do various other horrible things to them, the only plus side is they get better at running away now, but not always. Because they get pulled back in and messed with all the time because gallifrey hates them but also still wishes to use and abuse them for their own gain.
I wonder if the doctor sleeps better after the master went nuclear on them.
Regardless, the chosen one trope this is not. Nobody was chosen. There was a kidnapping. This is mother gothel territory.

Why fiction often villainize prodigy children while uplifting ungifted children?

Okay but please tell me why Dior is not a twin. The line of Beren and Luthien is Twins + one daughter. The only reason Elrond and Elros don't have a sister is there wasn't time to make her before Stuff Happened. So where is Dior's twin brother? Where is his younger sister? Also, why isn't Eldarion a twin? Or did Aragorn and Arwen switch the trend? One son and twin daughters? *bangs fists on table* WHY WERE THERE SUDDENLY ALL THESE TWINS? AND THEN SUDDENLY NONE???
Clearly, it was vital to the story that Dior be An Only Child™. I just used a ouija board and Tolkien himself confirmed that Dior was the specialest little boy in Arda who couldn't share mom and dad with anyone.
Now, as for Aragorn and Arwen, I think it's clear that all their children are trans and there's some confusion in the paperwork, what with mistranslations and all.
Alternatively, Arwen was like "I grew up with twin brothers and I don't want this for my children. Hear that, Iluvatar? I won't take no for an answer" and Iluvatar remembered the Luthien incident and said "Yes ma'am"
