Nex Benedict was a indigenous trans nonbinary teenager. Their head was beaten against the floor in a bathroom stall. Less than 24 hours later, they died, most likely from undiagnosed head trauma. Conservatives say they want to, "protect the children", where was the protection for Nex? That's the thing. There wasn't any. Nex died. And many more trans, queer, and nonbinary minors will if we don't step up and do something. What happened to Nex has and will happen to queer folk around the globe. Say their name.

Edit: I didn't expect this to get much attention, but thank you everyone. What alot of people, "forget" to mention was that Nex was two spirited, which means they were indigenous. a 6 year old Muslim child was murdered and his mother was severely wounded by their white male landlord outside of Chicago (NBC affiliate). they are also Palestinian, according to the mother's ex-husband.

their landlord, who is facing hate crimes charges as well as first degree murder and attempted first degree murder charges, said "You Muslims must die" while attempting to kill her, and it is suspected that he was motivated by the escalation in israel-palestine.

the mother is expected to survive. her son's name is Wadea Al-Fayoume. he just turned six two weeks ago, and now he is gone.

jeffrey isn’t doing anything at all suspicious.

shumirun’s discord however was literally a playground for actual predators. multiple kids from it said people were interacting with them in a weird way. where is this energy for her? I don’t think she is a predator, don’t get me wrong, I’d never accuse someone of that without evidence but you’d be dragging jeffrey’s name even more through the mud if that was them with that kind of discord and they admitted to playing roblox with 12 year olds. you’d also be dragging their name through the mud id they’d lied about having a health condition to get a job and endangered kids in the process.

Here’s the thing.   Dyana returning in season 2 doesn’t have to be terrible. 

I do think there is a high chance that the writers intend for her to play a role in Jaehaerys’ murder.   That doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll happen, but if it does-

I can’t speak for everyone, but I do think if the writers go this route, not only does it have a lot of nasty implications, but it has the potential to be little more than an awkward attempt by the writers to prevent you from feeling too sorry for the Greens or horrified by the murder of a child, because hey- said child’s father assaulted one of the people involved. 

There’s speculation that Jaehaerys’ death will actually be accidental which is just.... frustrating on so many levels, but this is where Dyana could come in.  

It would be way better for Dyana to have a totally different idea of what is meant to happen to what Blood and Cheese have been instructed to do.  

She could be operating under the assumption that their intention is to abduct Jaehaerys or Maelor.   If this comes across as Dyana being too naive, keep in mind that she’s traumatized, and because of that trauma, I don’t find it terribly outlandish for Mysaria to manipulate her.    She could convince Dyana that no actual harm will come to Jaehaerys or his siblings, but the Greens (that is Alicent and Helaena) will suffer the torment of their son/grandson being a hostage and Aegon will feel a similar helplessness.  I think Dyana wanting Aegon to feel helpless like she did could be a good motivation. 

Going back to Helaena, people are right when they say that she didn’t hurt Dyana.  But it is possible that thanks to her trauma, she ends up misplacing a lot of the blame and convinces herself that Aegon went after her because Helaena was refusing him her bed.  If it wasn’t for Helaena, this wouldn’t have happened to Dyana.  It doesn’t make sense because it's not meant to, she isn’t thinking rationally and Mysaria uses it to her advantage. 

So, you have Dyana who thinks this is an abduction plot.  It builds tension on two levels- for the part of the audience wondering whenever this works out and the audience who knows full well that she has no idea what she’s gotten herself involved in.   Only for Dyana to be completely blind-sided and like Alicent and Helaena, be forced to watch in horror as Cheese murders a little child.  Maybe Dyana wanted revenge and maybe she wanted to hurt the Greens, but she never wanted that, not that, not that-   

The girl they got to play Dyana was excellent, so I’d have faith she’d be able to capture that terrible realization, although for obvious reasons a lot of the scene is going to be devoted to Helaena and Alicent. 

Finally, I think writing this for Dyana and having her survive the events of Blood and Cheese (unlike the bed maid who is strangled in Fire and Blood) actually sets up for a pretty compelling contrast to the way Alicent potentially handles her.

In the first season, we saw Dyana begging Alicent to believe that she hadn’t invited/encouraged Aegon.  Alicent does believe her and tells her it wasn’t her fault and is gentle with her as much as their society allows her to be. She gives her moon tea and enough money so she can leave the Red Keep.  I don’t think Alicent deserves prizes for basic human decency, but I do think its interesting how she is talked about in comparison to say, Viserys or Daemon. 

In contrast, after Blood and Cheese, we can have Alicent confront Dyana (likely after some time in the black cells) Dyana begs Alicent to believe her,  to believe that she truly had no idea that they were going to kill the prince, she would never- 

And instead of Alicent believing her and showing her mercy like she did the first time- in a cold fury she condemns Dyana to death.  (Remember how in Fire and Blood Alicent wanted the families of the Blood and Cheese to be revealed so she could bathe in their blood....)  I showed you mercy once.   You went and got yourself involved in a plot that got my grandson murdered.  I don’t care what you thought.   Especially when this involves Alicent’s only daughter, who Alicent is shown to be protective of in a way she isn’t with her brothers. (”My only daughter, “My dearest love,” “My sweet girl”)

The Old Chateau - History and Overview

Eterna Forest's Old Chateau (dubbed in recent years by the locals as Mori no Yōkan (森の洋館)) is a sprawling estate situated in the north of the forest, nestled within large throngs of evergreen trees. The style of the manor is perplexing, mirror the architectural style of buildings commonly found overseas in regions like Unova or Galar.

Though a lot of the history of the family that built their mansion there has been lost to time, the style of the building makes sense upon learning of the family's overseas origin. They moved over to Sinnoh by boat, seeking to expand their business in an outside market.

This family, however, was besmirched and cursed by their own misfortune.

The boat ride over had been treacherous, as choppy waters and rough waves unlike any seen before battered the ship. It nearly capsized a couple of times, but fortunately remained righted as they made their first step into the Sinnoh region. With ungodly amounts of wealth, they were able to predetermine where they wanted their new estate built before they had even touched down on the land, having planned it all out long before they officially arrived.

Enough of the mansion had been built already for them to live in at the time, though by the time the manor had actually been finished in the early 1940's, tragedy struck.

The family dined separately from their staff of butlers and maids, and one of their rather old butlers had suffered a fatal heart attack during dinner. It happened right at the table, killing him before anyone could even think to move and help.

Since that day, both the family and the staff saw strange happening in the dining room. An apparition of this ghostly butler often seen sitting in the very place he died, sometimes moving towards the kitchen area. Upon entering, he was nowhere to be found, but the area took on an unmistakable chill.

This would not be the last of their misfortunes. The husband of the family would go on to have an affair with a woman from his now failing business - a secretary - leaving his wife to find out the hard way upon his affair partner becoming pregnant, and then dumping their child on him.

Though his wife was indescribably irate, she would stay, if only for the money.... but it became clear that this treachery had made this a woman most wicked. As the illegitimate daughter would grow older, so would the woman's ire. It was harder to look at the girl and not be reminded of her husband's betrayal.

In a fit of hysteria, one fateful autumn night, the wife would dose her husband's meal with a lethal dose of poison, before locking the illegitimate daughter in an empty, windowless room. With her husband having keeled over within the next few hours of dinner, and the daughter abandoned in a forgotten room, the wife would take the other three children and leave the manor. They left the Sinnoh region entirely, a dead father, a dead daughter, and a dying business left in their wake.

By the time police had arrived to the manor for a wellness check, it was too late. They discovered the body of the husband, sat in a plush chair in the library, eerily still... as if he'd simply fallen asleep, and would wake to return to his reading material at any moment. They discovered the body of the illegitimate daughter next. They took both of the bodies away, and with no way to contact the wife, the manor was condemned and fell quickly into disrepair due to the harsh Sinnohan elements.

The Old Chateau was quickly accosted by various ghost-type pokemon, including a Rotom that quickly overtook the family's old black-and-white television, among other appliances. There was great death in this estate, and the negative feelings and emotions that took hold of the building drew them in in droves.

This forgotten manor became a place of urban myth and legend as well to the locals, with rumors spreading quickly about the ghostly butler, along with the room housing the ghostly spirit of the little girl. In the library where the husband died, there were rumors about a painting with glowing red eyes, and a book that, when moved, housed a secret room behind the shelves.

It's become a frequent spot for teenagers and young adults to take part in 'tests of course' (kimodameshi), though as of late the amount of ghosts and their ferocity has kept many at bay.

In the past decade, the path leading up to the manor had become extremely overgrown with various bushes and small plants, becoming entirely inaccessible to the masses. Perhaps, due to the nature of the manor, that was for the best.

spoilers for farha, which you all should watch but is very, very brutal even if it is not terribly graphic.

the scene where the one israeli genocider doesn't end up killing the infant is such a powerful scene for a number of reasons. but one aspect of it that sticks out to me is that when his commanding genocider tells him not to "waste a bullet" and he can't go through with curb stomping the fucking newborn to death, he ultimately condemns the baby to a crueler death - to starve to death, alone in the night, beside his family's bodies.

it is of course a crueler death, and I am sure the soldier is aware of what will become of that baby when he places the kerchief over his face and walks away. but this moment is not about the soldier being decent or kind at all, of course - if he was halfway decent he would die rather than kill that baby.

he doesn't care what will happen to that baby as long as he doesn't have to bear witness to it. to cover the baby's face is to cover his eyes to the cruelty of his and by extension israel's actions. it makes him uncomfortable to think of curb stomping a baby to death, but not of starving him. of leaving him alone and screaming.

he doesn't even consider for a second disobeying the order and shooting the baby, putting him out of his misery - as horrific as that would be.

because it isn't about the baby for him - it is about HIS comfort. he's comfortable with ethnic cleansing, he's comfortable with terrorizing a woman who has just given birth and her family, it is not at all about shame or horror or a tiny spot of decency in him. he's just not comfortable with having to step on a baby and kill him.

he is more comfortable with letting that baby starve out of sight than he is taking direct action against him.

this is the liberal zionist or frankly the liberal colonizer even beyond zionism - because it's all connected. as long as they do not have to be the ones to crush the infant to death under their boot, as long as they can shield their eyes from the brutality of their country, they'll take that option.

I think about israelis living so close to the gaza strip, living in relative security and having food and shelter and yes bomb shelters because THEY are citizens of a settler colonial state and people who are being colonized are going to resist the violence of occupation.

I think about how generally they are so removed and detached from the brutality of what israel does to palestinians, and how after oct 7th, many people who considered themselves liberal zionists went completely apeshit racist and genocidal, and this is according to actual peace activists in israel, actual anti-zionists in israel, actual leftists in israel. the ones who have refused to cover their eyes to the realities of the occupation and the genocide.

you see it on social media - people who consider themselves non-zionists or liberal zionists have been laughing at hateful genocidal zionist memes, and centering their own pain, and it reminds me of how liberals in the united states will do ANYTHING not to witness the horrors of us imperialism when it threatens their comfort.

this is not unique to zionists, this is a symptom of settler colonialism. I do believe that sometimes liberals can do better than that, but they often end up useless as allies to resistance, actual resistance, when it fucking matters the most.

so many liberal americans will continue to watch their favorite racist shows or buy disposable vapes or support joe biden, and they'll make all kinds of excuses about why they have to but the truth is this: they value their comfort more than they care about genocide.

I mean frankly even I do to some extent. I pay my taxes. I'm not gonna go to prison on tax evasion because I want to make a point about genocide. I know that I would never go serve in the military even if it was conscription, I'd go to jail for that but that's never been a real concern for me here.

meanwhile, there are people who do not have the comfort to lose. in the film, farha does not have the privilege to choose comfort. she can close her eyes, she can look away, but she hears the baby cry and cry and cry until the baby passes away. she has no choice.

in choosing his own comfort, the soldier unknowingly condemns a child to witness trauma he can choose to ignore. now farha, a 14 year old girl, has to live with not being able to free herself from her sanctuary/prison to save the baby.

a 14 year old girl injures herself to save a baby, but a grown man covers a baby's face and lets it starve so he can live with himself. he still murdered that baby, but he'll tell himself that he didn't.

people often say they know what they'd have done if they'd lived during the holocaust or other atrocities. but honestly these same people don't do shit now. they cover their eyes.

if you're going to accept the deaths of innocent people, at least say that your comfort, your security, matters more to you than their lives.

because it clearly does.
