“How long did you put the cookies in for?” You asked your dad after about twenty minutes of waiting for the timer to go off.
“Uhhh, FRIDAY? How much longer on the timer?” Tony spoke aloud and awaited a response.
“You did not set a timer, Mr. Stark.” She replied and the two of both stared at each other with wide eyes before scrambling to the kitchen to check on the oven. It was not surprising to see smoke rolling from the inside once the door was open.
“FRIDAY, disable the smoke alarms for a few minutes, please.” You nervously asked as you father grabbed the pan and awkwardly set it onto the countertop. You both silently stared at the extremely dark cookies and started to giggle. “They definitely look like bats now, don’t they?”
“Maybe candy apples are more our speed.”

————————————————————————-
Being autistic has drawbacks for a normal person, but for an actress in Marvel movies, it was tough. I’m proud of who I am but I didn’t want the pitying looks, the comments or being stuck as only getting the “autistic” role so for my own sake, I’m not super open about it.
My parents are ashamed of it so they never told anyone and I was forced to mask anytime I was around anyone. Not even Scar knew, and she was my best friend, almost a mother figure to me. I didn’t want her to think any different of me. She’s known me since i was 7 and played her on screen adopted daughter in Iron Man 2.
We’re filming Endgame right now. I’m on my way to set with Scarlett. Today has been a rough day for me so far as my parents woke me up by screaming at me which then caused me to struggle in keeping my mask up. Scar picked me up and I’m already exhausted, I’ve caught myself stimming a few times and quickly stopped it.
When we pulled into the parking lot, i grabbed my bag and walked with her through set to our trailers where we left our stuff and we’re immediately shuffled to makeup and costumes.
“Oh shit…” I mutter staring at the costume in Erica’s hand. “I didn’t realize it was a fight scene today…”
“Babe.” Erica, my assistant and on set guardian says. She’s known about me since the first day which was when i was 7. “You’ve known about this for a week. Are you okay?”
“I’m super over stimulated right now…” I murmur tapping my leg in sets of 7, a common stim for me.
“Let’s do hair and makeup first okay? Keep you out of the costume until the last second okay?” I nod and the two of us move to hair and makeup where Scarlett is getting her hair done.
“Hey, where’s your costume kid?” She asks looking over at me.
“I uh-“ I glance at Erica who steps in for me quickly.
“It had a small tear in it so it’s getting fixed quickly.” Scarlet merely hums in response and I sit. Getting my wig on and makeup done is awful, having everyone touching me and all their voices so close to me ears. I feel a soft hand on my cheek and peek my eyes open to see Scar staring at me in concern.
“Stop grinding your jaw babe…” I release my jaw, not even realizing i had been doing it. “You okay love? You disappeared for a bit there.” I respond with a hum, my voice disappearing from within. “Let’s get your costume on and to set okay?”
I look around quickly and don’t see Erica, Scarlet must see the panic as she quickly says. “She got called away in an emergency. I’m going to be your guardian today.” I nod, feeling the panic bubble up in my chest, but give her a soft smile.
The two of us make our way to my trailer and she helps me quickly slip into the suit. I immediately want to rip it off as it’s skin tight and an uncomfortable material. It feels like it’s digging into my skin and pulling it away as if it’s velcro and my skin is the other side. I take a deep breath and come out to see Scar in costume waiting. “Ready?” I nod and we head to set where I realize it’s a busy day, all original 6 avengers, Lizzie, both Paul’s, Gwen and Cobie are all there. I internally groan as immediately, the girls are coming over to me and Scar talking a mile a minute. I stand next to Scarlett silently until Lizzie turns to me. “Hey kiddo. Ready to fight? We have to fly today.” My eyes widen for a moment before i force a smile and nod at the fake red head in front of me.
“What? Cat got your tongue?” This makes everyone around us laugh but it makes me feel awful. I have no voice, it comes and goes, when it’s gone, my parents ridicule me, I get hit. I look down as i feel my tears well up in my eyes and blink rapidly trying to will them away. I thank god silently when Joe calls us to places which means i get away from the now very suddenly concerned looking Scarlett, Lizzie and Cobie. I’m stuck with Renner as I get rigged up, the feeling of being sick suddenly appearing as more people touch me.
I feel the lump in my throat tighten and the feeling of the harness wrapped around me suddenly makes me feel like it’s constricting my breathing and everyone around me disappeared as my hands flung to the harness, in my panic my hands struggled with the buckle which just made me more infuriated and grunts started coming out as my tears blurred my vision.
I feel a set of hands on mine holding them down, i scream and rip mine away and start scratching at my throat trying to rip it open to get a breath. My eyes started blacking out and the last thing i see is Scarlett’s panicked face as she tries to grab at my hands before it all goes black.
Scarlett’s POV
I know something is off with y/n. Not off but just that she was different. I have had a feeling it was autism for a while now, today proved that to me.
She was silent the whole car ride to set, normally she’d be singing along the radio but she wouldn’t even let me turn it on today. As soon as we got to set she locked herself in her trailer without a word, the next time i saw her, she looked panicked and while she was getting her hair and makeup done she disappeared fully before i brought her back. She has days where she goes mute, she just calls them her bad days, they usually happen on days she has arguments with her parents but normally she can still communicate to me in different ways but today she was completely gone. It got worse as soon as she realized Erica was gone. Walking on to set, she tended up and i saw her tapping her thigh every once in a while. The comment that Lizzie made would normally make her laugh, her reaction today was off.
I watched her from the corner of my eye but had to look away for a second before i heard Renner.
“Y/N!! What are you doing?! You’re going to hurt yourself!” I whip my head around and my heart sinks as i see y/n struggling with her harness, her hands are shaking violently, tears streaming down her face, her eyes are glazed over. I bolt over and grab her hands gently.
“Y/n baby, stop. You’ve got to stop my love.” She rips her hands out of mine and starts clawing at her throat which is when i notice she’s not breathing properly. She’s barely able to get a small breath. Instincts kick in for me and i turn to the cast and crew crowding her. “Give her space. Now. I need someone to set up a dark room with minimal sound and her clothes she was wearing this morning as well as the blanket from my trailer. A cold cloth and her wig taken off.” I turn around as she starts to collapse, i grab her arm and quickly wrap an arm around her waist. “Now!”
It’s a bit of a blur after that honestly, the next thing i know, im alone with her in the green room after everything is unplugged and blankets are draped over the windows. Her wig is already off and someone hands me my blanket and her clothes before silently leaving. I help her unconscious body out of the suit and into her clothes before draping my weighted blanket over her body. I sit back and stare at her, not touching her at all but close enough if she needs me.
It felt like hours but looking at my watch, it shows it’s only been 20 minutes when she finally wakes up.
My heart is beating what feels like a million mile a minute with panic as i watch her blue eyes flutter open before she looks around the room for a moment. Her hand comes out of the blanket and she starts tapping her thigh again, her head nodding along to each tap. She squeezes her eyes shut and i can hear her voice mumbling. “I’m safe. I’m here. I’m y/n.” Over and over again, i quietly cough to get her attention and she quickly sits up and her head whips up to look at me with wide eyes, both hands start scratching at the other wrist. “Oh my god…”
“Baby, you are safe. It’s just me.”
“No… no… no no no no no no no no.” She started tugging her hair and rocking slightly. “They’re going to kill me… you aren’t supposed to know…”
I quickly scoot over and grab her hands before pulling her into my chest, she tenses for a moment before melting into my arms. “I can’t hide it anymore Scar…”
“I know baby… I know.” I mutter into her hair swaying us back and forth slightly.
“I’m autistic…”
“Oh baby i know…” She freezes and looks at me with wide eyes. I can ready the fear in her blue eyes. “You hide it really really well but I’m basically your mom my love. I had suspicions but didn’t want to push you into telling me. Today was too much.” She nods burying herself back into me. “I need you to know that I will always listen to you. That if you ever feel like that again, you can tell me and i’ll get you out of it. Baby seeing you pass out was terrifying. I need you to know that if you’re that overwhelmed, that you do not have to do all that.”
“But… my parents don’t want everyone knowing… they’re all gonna know now…” She mumbles into me, my heart cracks.
“Baby being autistic is not a bad thing. It makes you even more amazing. It’s not something to be ashamed of at all. You are allowed to be who you are. To stim when your emotions are too high. To have bad days. I am here to show you that.” I say looking her directly into her eyes. “I’m here to support you.”
Tears welled up in her eyes as she nodded quickly. She sat up and started tapping her thigh as she stared at me. “This is my favourite stim, it’s really subtle but it calms me down… i count the most important people in my life.” She then looks down at her hand as she taps each finger. “Scarlett.” Tap. “Lizzie.” Tap. “Renner.” Tap. “Gwen.” Tap. “Cobie.” Tap. “Rob.” Tap. “Rosie.” Tap. “It reminds me that you guys would love me, no matter how broken or weird i am because i know how much you care.” She looked up at me through her eyelashes. “Another one is tapping here.” She taps her chest right above her heart twice. “Right here.” She does the tap to each word. “This is where you sit in my body. I usually only do this one when I’m not wearing my necklace. Playing with that is the stim i can do out in public.” I pulled her into my arms again as I cried.
“Oh baby…”
“You’ve always been my safe space Scar…”
“And i will be your safe space for the rest of eternity.”
We sit in silence for a few minutes before she pulls away with a smile. “Thank you. For learning how to help me.”
“You are more than welcome my love. Let’s go home and have a calm day okay?” She nods before standing up, pulling my weighted blanket over herself. I stand and wrapping my arms around her waist, the two of us make our way out of the room to find Lizzie standing not too far away, crying into Gwyneths arms. Y/n instantly runs over to her and wraps her arms around the crying woman. Lizzie jumps before she turns and sees who it is and wraps the girl into her arms.
“I’m so sorry bug. I shouldn’t have made that comment. I know how bad your parents are.” Y/n shakes her head pulling back and squeezes Lizzie’s hands. “Liz that wasn’t what caused that.” She takes a glance back at me before taking a deep breath and looks back at Lizzie. “I’m autistic and I was overstimulated and everything was just too much. I won’t lie, the comment did hurt a little but i know you didn’t say it in a mean way. You didn’t hurt me, memories of my parents saying stuff hurt me. But not you.” Lizzie’s eyes widen and she glances at me before she nods breathing to calm herself down. “If you ever need to talk or are struggling you can talk to me bug.”
Y/n nods with a small smile. “I know Liz.”
“Hey. Me too.” We all turn our head to see Gwyneth with a pout on her face. “You scared the shit out of me kiddo. Never do that again. Understand?” She pulls y/n’s laughing form into her arms.
“I understand mother Paltrow.” She says making us all chuckle.
Y/n pulls away and biting her cheek looks at me. “I- i uh- I’m not ready to face everyone else yet…”
“They already left bug. It’s just us four left.” Lizzie said smoothing the crazy hair down on y/n’s head. “I couldn’t leave worried i hurt you and Gwyn couldn’t leave me alone but everyone else left to give you privacy. Scarlett went full mama bear mode and screamed at some people for trying to push her into anything. It was great.” Y/n chuckled, which brings a grin to my face.
“Of course you did. But i wouldn’t trade you for the world.”
“I love you too baby.” I say kissing her head softly.

Accidents Happen
Warnings: hospitals, mentions of injuries, let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Avengers x reader platonic
Request: Hi hi! Can you please do a avengers x little reader? R is 6 and maybe Natasha or peter drop her off at school but a few hours after school starts they get a call saying she had an accident and got injured badly. So the whole team shows up at the school to rush her to the Emergency room and the person who dropped R off feels really guilty but the R tells them it wasn't their fault (also could R be wise for her age?) Anyways thanks feel free to ignore this or change some things thank you!
Request by: Anon
*not my gif*
Summary: Nat blames herself for the accident you had at school that causes the entire team to rush to the hospital
A/N: I loved writing this
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
“Thank you, Nattie!” You called, scrambling out of the backseat and sending a wide, toothy grin to the redhead.
Natasha smiled at you fondly, “You’re welcome, n/n, have a good day.”
You closed the car door and turned on your heels hurrying towards the entrance, excited for school to start. The woman couldn’t help but chuckle, you’re the only kid she’s ever met that’s been happy to go learn, especially at six years old.
She watched from the car until the entrance door swung shut softly behind you before she put the car into drive once more and set off to begin her no doubt long day, though a soft smile still lingered on her lips from her interaction with you.
-•-
“Where the hell is she?”
“What’s going on?”
“Do you know who I am? I could have you fired with the snap of my fingers!”
“This place is full of so many puny humans, and yet not a single one of them is giving me a straight answer!”
The outraged roars of Earth’s mightiests heroes might not have been what anyone in the hospital was expecting in the middle of the day, but to be fair- they were beyond stressed and concerned. They had no idea what was going on, not really.
About fifteen minutes ago, Natasha had received a phone call from your school- her being your emergency contact- in the middle of a debrief with her teammates. The principal on the other side of the phone had been very vague as she informed the woman that she had been in an accident and was rushed in an ambulance to the nearest hospital, all but hanging up before Romanoff could fire off any one of the thousands of questions racing through her mind.
Chaos had followed that phone call, the avengers all scrambling around, trying to get to the hospital as quickly as possible with no real direction as to what was going on.
So now, they stood in the lobby, anger and worry etched onto each of their faces respectively as they swung around in circles, demanding answers from any of the many people working there.
Bucky and Thor both looked seconds away from lunging towards the closest doctor and shaking them until they gave them an explanation and to point them in your direction.
Tony was sneering at every person that passed, trying to intimidate them while Steve tried to ask questions as calmly as he could. Clint looked seconds away from diving through the doors dedicated to doctors only.
The only one that was silent was Natasha. She stood in the middle of the chaos with her arms pulled around her stomach, face paler than normal and looking as though she might be sick.
She had dropped you off this morning. She had been the one to leave you at that school without a second thought. How could she not realize that something would go wrong? She always had a sixth about that kind of stuff.
And now, because of her lack of realization, you were somewhere in this vast building, lying in a hospital bed, all alone- probably scared. And she didn’t even know if you were alright.
“Miss. Romanoff?”
The voice automatically silenced all of the avengers and they all whipped in the direction of it.
The doctor who spoke, to her credit, didn’t look the least bit intimidated at being stared down by the people, instead glanced down at her clipboard, “You’re here to see Y/n L/n, correct?”
Natashas head immediately bobbed up and down, moving forward, fear gripping her heart, “Is she okay?”
A sympathetic and reassuring smile appeared on the woman’s face, “She’s going to be fine,” She assured the group.
Everyone's muscles immediately loosened and Natahsa felt a shaky breath leave her lips as fear's grip loosened a bit on her heart.
“What happened?” Tony demanded, still not fully convinced.
With an incline of her head, the avengers all piled after the doctor as she led them through the workers only door, “She was in an accident at school. Apparently she had been trying to jump to the monkey bars at recess, but misjudged the distance and landed at the wrong angle on the metal pole of the jungle gym, hitting her head. She was knocked out, so the school called us. She has a concussion, but she’ll be fine in a few weeks if you take the proper precautions. We can discuss those later.”
There it was again, the fear and worry and guilt that was consuming the redheads entire being. She could tell by their reactions that her team was feeling the same.
“Right in here.” The doctor cast them one last smile before leaving them at the door of your room.
Immediately, Bucky all but threw the door open and everyone rushed in, crowding into the small room.
Natahsa pulled up short at the sight of you, lying in the hospital bed, looking smaller than normal surrounded by all the big equipment in the oversized bed.
You turned your head with wide eyes at the sound of footsteps, but relaxed into a smile when you saw who it was.
“Hi, guys,” You piped happily- as if nothing happened- but your voice was a bit weaker than normal.
“Oh, n/n,” Nat breathed out, immediately falling to your side, crouching down, grasping your hand in hers and squeezing it, “Are you okay?”
You nodded, smiling up at the woman, “I’m fine, my head just hurts.”
The woman frowned, smoothing back your hair from your forehead, “Do you need anything?”
Apparently, the team had caught onto Romanoffs feelings of guilt a while ago, because they exited the room at that moment, knowing that they should give her some space with you for a few minutes to sort through her emotions. They hated leaving you, but knew you would always be safe as long as Natasha was around.
You shook your head- slowly so as to not hurt yourself more, “I’m fine.” You promised, “I’m happy you’re all here.”
A shaky breath once again slipped from the woman's lips, “I’m so sorry,” Her eyes were welled up with tears.
It was then your turn to frown, confusion pulling your eyebrows down, “For what, Nattie?” You had no idea what she was talking about.
“If I hadn’t left you today, if I had known that something was wrong, I never would’ve left you.” A single tear slipped down her cheek as she squeezed her eyes shut and put your still intertwined hands to her forehead.
You squeezed her hand once, “It’s not your fault, Nattie, you couldn’t have known.” You were smiling kindly at her now.
“But-”
You shook your head stubbornly, a trait she often wondered if you got it from her, “It’s not your fault. It could’ve happened to anyone and there’s no way to tell if or when it’ll happen. Accidents happen.” You insisted.
A shaky huff of a laugh left her lips as she pressed a kiss to your forehead, “When did you get so wise?”
A wide grin appeared on your face, “I always have been, you’re just noticing now.”

Kid Y/N feels under the weather, what is gonna happen? ft Wanda and Natasha
Rain pelted against the large windows of the Avengers compound, a symphony of nature's melancholy to accompany the drama unfolding within. Y/N, a young child with an inclination for mischief, which made her seem like Loki's daughter sometimes (she may be...), and two extraordinary guardians: Natasha Romanoff and Wanda Maximoff, found herself feeling under the weather. The cold had crept into her small frame, bringing with it a storm of sneezes and sniffles.
In the heart of the Avengers' home, the living room was a battleground. Y/N lay on the couch, surrounded by a fortress of plush toys. The television played some animated movie, forgotten in the background. Natasha was still donned in her Black Widow uniform after returning from a mission with Wanda, her fiery red hair cascading in waves, was the epitome of calm. She knelt beside the couch, worry etching lines on her face as she touched Y/N's forehead with the back of her hand.
Y/N - Mama, I don't wanna take those yucky medicines!
Whined the little girl as her raspy voice showed her clear discomfort.
Wanda, also in her Scarlet Witch attire, floated into the room with a tray of steaming soup and a small bottle of medicine. Her expressive eyes softened as they met Y/N's defiant gaze.
Wanda - Sweetheart, it'll make you feel better. Just a spoonful, okay? *frowns*
The girl's eyes narrowed and a pout formed on her lips.
Y/N - No! It tastes icky.
Natasha sighed, her stern look softened by a smile.
Natasha - Come on, kiddo. You'll be back to causing chaos in no time.
Y/N's eyes welled up, a mixture of exhaustion and frustration.
Y/N - I don't wanna be sick, Mommy.
Natasha's heart melted at the word. Y/N had walked into her and Wanda's life like a burst of sunshine, and now, seeing her curled up with illness, it felt like the sun had been clouded over.
Natasha exchanged a glance with Wanda, who was now floating in the air, her green eyes filled with concern.
Wanda - We just want you to feel better, little one. *soft voice with a motherly smile*
But Y/N was having none of it. With a sudden burst of energy, she sat up, sending the plush toys scattering like leaves in the wind.
Y/N - I don't want the yucky medicine! I hate it!
Natasha's eyes met Wanda's, both sharing a knowing look. Parenting, even for two superheroes, had its challenges. But they were up for it. Wanda floated down to Y/N's eye level, a playful smile on her face.
Wanda - How about a deal, little rebel? Take the medicine, and Mama will read you a story. A magical one.
Y/N eyed Wanda suspiciously, her small brain working through the proposal.
Y/N - A really magical one? *head tilt*
Wanda nodded, her fingers conjuring a spark of Scarlet energy.
Wanda - The most magical story you've ever heard.
Y/N contemplated this for a moment before finally nodding with all the seriousness a child could muster.
Y/N - Okay, but no yucky medicine next time. *scrunches nose*
Natasha handed Wanda the medicine with a smirk.
Natasha - Of course, princesa.
Wanda poured the medicine into a small spoon, casting a glance at Natasha. Natasha nodded subtly, understanding the silent question. Wanda approached Y/N, who was still eyeing the spoon with scepticism.
Wanda - Open wide, little one. *cooing*.
Y/N opened her mouth reluctantly and Wanda administered the medicine. The kid grimaced at the taste, but she swallowed it down with a determined expression.
Natasha - Good job, honey!
Natasha praised, ruffling Y/N's hair.
Wanda - Now, for the magical story...
Wanda settled on the floor near Natasha with Y/N nestled between their chests.
As Wanda began weaving a tale of enchanted forests and talking animals, Y/N's eyes sparkled with wonder. The room echoed with Wanda's melodic voice, each word painting a vivid picture in the child's imagination. Natasha sat back, watching the scene unfold with a smile. The storm outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the warmth of the family huddled together.
As the story reached its climax, Y/N's eyelids grew heavy. The pair shared a glance, silently agreeing to transfer the dozing child to her cosy bed. Together, they lifted Y/N, who mumbled something about flying with Mama and Mommy in the magical forest.
In her room, surrounded by plush toys and soft blankets, Y/N slept peacefully. Natasha and Wanda lingered for a moment, marvelling at the small, slumbering figure. Parenthood was an adventure, one they embraced wholeheartedly.
As they tiptoed out of the room, Natasha began to whisper.
Natasha - We make a good team, don't we? *smirks*
Wanda nodded, her eyes reflecting the love and contentment they both felt.
Wanda - The best. *winks*
And with that, the two superheroes, mothers to a special little girl, ventured back into the living room. The storm outside had quieted, leaving behind the soft hum of family and the promise of many more magical stories to come.

A angst request where tony stark visiting his little sister reader in the hospital, stage 3 Leukemia cancer. Tony tells her about everything including being ironman and his team. Sister stark! reader gets to meet his team
Nice surprise
a/n- the end was a bit rushed but i am currently going through my drafts
Tumblr media
Tony sat at his desk zeroed in on a mission a report that he’s set off to the side for weeks and weeks, not worried about if another shield agent called his phone asking for the mission report like some landlord begging for rent, but that was ok because Tony never really worried about much, the reasoning behind this was because he had pretty much all the money in the world to fix whatever issue that popped up. That was until that one call from the hospital when the doctor said his little sister had Cancer and there was pretty much nothing he could do about it except hope for the best. That was a problem money couldn’t fix, well he tried anyway, paying for all of the treatments known to mankind but still no positive result occurred.
When Tonys mind drifted to the thought of his sick little sister, FRIDAY suddenly came on “Mr. Stark you have a call from doctor Reyes” Tony suddenly shot up from his seat. That was your doctor, did something go wrong? What if something terrible happened to you? Tony took a deep breath and paced around the room.
“Put him on speaker friday.”
“Yes, Mr. Stark”
Suddenly the doctors familiar voice echoed around the room
“Mr. Stark I have good news and bad news about your sister” The doctor spoke firmly but Tony could hear the nervousness in his voice as the doctor spoke.
“Give me the good news first Reyes”
“Good news, we have been seeing improvements from the treatments, and we think if she can fight it off a little longer before she gets to stage four, we might be able to get most of the Cancerous cells out of her body before they spread even more.”
Tony sighed and smiled a little bit, he was glad there was going to be a little light in this situation, so that it would give him hope that the bad news wouldn’t be as bad as he thought it would be.
“I am very relieved to hear that doctor Reyes, and what about the bad news?”
“Unfortunately, your sister has moved on to stage three leukemia cancer, and who knows how long until she gets to stage four, but we were hoping you could come in and visit her. She took the news pretty hard and has asked to see you all day today. I think it would make her day but we do not want to hassle you Mr. Stark, we know you are a busy man.”
As soon as the doctor said that you’ve asked to see him all day, Tony was already halfway putting his jacket on and out the office door, Tony quickly respond with “Thank you doctor Reyes, I will be there in about ten minutes”, once the call ended, Tony practically sprinted out the front doors of the compound, rushing to his car quickly.
When Tony pulled into the parking lot of the hospital, he was able to gather himself again. As many times as he visited you, it was hard, harder than almost everything else he’s ever done or fought, but he had to have hope for you because Tony loved you with his whole heart, you’re some of his only family left, his rock, the one person that stuck beside him when everyone else left. He pretty much couldn’t live without you.
Tony checked into the hospital counter and signed his name on the visitor sheet, and made his way down the hallway, with a teddy bear in hand and since He’s visited you one too many times, he practically knows the hospital like the back of his hand.
Once Tony gets to your room and opens the door slowly, he sees you look at the direction of the door and you shoot up from your bed happily “Tony!! I missed you, what are you doing here?” Tony chuckled and bent down in front of your bed to give you a hug. “Hey kiddo, I just came by to see how you were doing, I missed you” Your mood seemed to drastically change when he said that. “Doctor Reyes told you to come didn’t he..” Tony stopped and sat down in the chair next to your bed and held your hand.
“Yes, yes he did but that does not mean I don’t want to see my favorite little sister, I love you okay?”
You seemed to crack a smile that made Tony's grin light up also “I’m your only little sister”, you responded with a bit of laughter in your voice
“Exactly, and I wouldn’t have it any other way”
Silence seemed to take over the room as you finished up your multitude of questions for your brother, Tony seemed to have one of his own, he then asked “If you would want to do anything in the whole world, what would it be?” you smiled and pretended to have a pondering look on your face then answered “I probably would want to meet the avengers, especially Captain america and Iron man”, Tony perked up and grinned and looked around then back to you.
“Well, would you like to hear a really really awesome secret..but you can’t tell anybody okay?” You looked at your brother intently while he spoke and nodded your head quickly, eyebrows furrowed. “Tell me, tell me, I promise to keep it a secret”, Tony smiled then said
“I’m Iron man..”
You looked at him suspiciously and said “Nuh uh, prove it.”, Tony stood up and pushed a button that summoned the suit onto his body then quickly took it off, looking down at you while your eyes were widened in awestruck he spoke “Do you believe me now?”, you looked at him and questions started to flow out of your mouth.
“Does that mean your friends with the avengers?”
“Have you fought any monster aliens?”
“Do you know Captain America?”
“Have you been to space!?”
Tony laughed and pushed you gently so your back was resting against the bed “Yes, to all of those questions, but-”, Tony got cut off right in the middle of his sentence as a feminine voice interrupted “Um, I am so sorry to interrupt but visiting hours are now closed, if you would be kind enough to make yourself out, thank you”, Tony nodded and went over to your bed to give you a quick peck on your head and whisper something in your ear, and you seemed to nod excitedly at the information spilled to you.
The next day Tony had made arrangements to make a perfect visiting time and clear all of the other avengers schedules for you to meet them, he knew this would mean a lot to you and he was going to do everything in his power to make sure this was perfect.
Tony got to the hospital with two other cars following him, all the avengers known, packed in three cars and he couldn’t wait to see the smile on your face, Tony then spoke “I’m sorry I had to disturb anyone's plans, but I know this would mean a lot to my sister, she’s just a kid that got handed a rough hand”, Steve responded with a sympathetic look on his face and responded “it’s really no trouble Tony, we’ve all agreed that we would do anything just to make it a little bit better for her” the others around him seemed to nod in agreement “but still, thank you all”, Steve smiled back “anytime Stark”.
While walking into the hospital, and checking into the visitors sheet seemed to take twice as long, Tony knew the look on your face would all be worth it. As they all stood in front of the door to your room he opened it slowly and you popped up quickly.
“Tony! You’re back!”
“I am back, but I have some friends with me also”
You tilted your head, until room people walked through the door and you gasped with a wide grin on your face.
“Thank you Tony! You’re the best big brother ever, I love you so much”
Tony went over to hug you, and all the avengers watched in awe at how loving their boss could be, but soon enough they all sat next to you, ready to answer any questions that you may have had, and they all stayed until visiting time was over, while you were sad they had to leave as they gave you their goodbye hugs. The only person in the room left at the end was Tony, as he came over and sat next to you. You felt your eyes tear up and gave your brother a tight hug then spoke
“Thank you Tony, you really don’t know how much this means to me, I love you”
“I love you even more, but I always want you to know that I would travel the moon and back for you”

Ready or Not, Here I Come - Mama!Nat x Daughter!Reader
Summery: Your mama, Natasha can’t find you during a game of hide and seek and gets slightly worried
Notes: ‘Calls’ as in shouting, I’m going to assume reader is too young to have a phone yet, loll.
Readers Age: 4 Years Old
Requests: Open
Tumblr media
“Ninety-Nine... One-Hundred! Alright Malysh! Ready or not, here I come! Mama’s gonna find her little loon!” Natasha called out into the hallway of her section of the compound.
You both had just gotten back from spending the weekend at the Barton’s farm, over the weekend you had developed a love for the game of hide-and-seek from the two eldest Barton children.
So far this was yours and Natasha’s third game, and Natasha was just as into it as you were since she just could’t get enough of seeing your cheeky little grin or hearing your adorable squeal whenever she found you.
“Y/nnnnnn! Come out, come out where ever you are, манчкин.”
Nothing.
Hm, you were learning fast. The first round you had come out of your hiding spot straight after she had called you, always being a child to answer when called so that you wouldn’t give your mama a scare.
Natasha made sure to make her steps heavy, knowing that you would giggle if you felt as though you were tricking her.
“Could my little Y/N/N be under the carpet?” She called out as she lifted the carpet gently. “Oh? She isn’t here!” She called out, pretending to sound shocked.
Although she was a little but when she didn’t hear a sound afterwards.
You were really getting good at this game. Clint had thought you well. She could imagine his words of ‘the student becomes the master’
“Ohhhhhh Y-NNNNN!” She sang. “Mama’s coming to find youuu.”
Nothing. Huh.
For the next minute Natasha played it the way she usually did, making silly little comments as well as looking at the spots where it was plain-fully obvious you weren’t hiding. But you were beginning to worry her by remaining quiet.
You were a quiet child, of course. But usually during games like this the more your mama called the more you wanted to run to her and make sure that she wasn’t actually worried, plus you loved the cuddles that you would receive.
“Y/N? Sweetheart?”
If you just giggles or let out a huff or something she would gladly keep pretending for another five minutes, but there wasn’t a peep out of you.
“Come on honey, Mama can’t find you anywhere. She gives up!”
Natasha thought that that ought to do it. But it didn’t. Still not a sound.
And due to having received a small dose of syrum during her time in the red room, her hearing was better than the average person’s, making it easier to hear around your’s and her’s apartment in the compound. Which helped whenever you had a nightmare or needed to get up at night due to a tummy ache.
Natasha was panicking now, switching into protective Mama mode.
She began to search all of your previous hiding spots where you had hid in perviously. But nothing.
She would have heard the door open if you went to go somewhere else in the compound.
“Y/N! Come on sweetheart! Why don’t we go find Uncle Thor? He and Loki just got back from Asgard, you love Uncle Loki!”
You did love Uncle Loki, he was one of your favourite uncles and if something wasn’t terribly wrong you would have zoomed over to her that very second from where you were supposed to be hiding.
“Malyshka please. Are you stuck? Do you need Mama to come get you?”
Natasha wandered aimlessly around the apartment, not entirely sure what to do. She didn’t want to leave incase you got scared if you came out of your hiding spot because she wasn’t there.
It wasn’t until she noticed a little pair of kids’ shoes sticking out from under the rack that she felt huge relief.
Natasha pulled a few of the coats to the side and smiled in relief and at the adorable sight in front of her.
You were fast asleep, your head resting on her slippers.
She should have known how tired you would be. You had been running wild with the Barton kids all day, you had stayed awake the entire car journey back chatting away because you felt that if you fell asleep Natasha would be lonely, you had then played another two games while running around with Natasha. She’s surprised you hadn’t fallen asleep sooner.
After she quickly snapped a picture of you on her phone she put it away and went to softly pick you up, you were light, so it was no problem.
“C’mere sweet pea.” She murmured as you let out a small grunt.
“Mama.” You whined slightly.
“Right here Moye Serdtse.” She cooed softy as you lay your head on her shoulder.
“Did I win?”
Natasha suppressed a laugh. You had won in scaring her if that’s what you meant, which of course it wasn’t.
She studied your red locks that you inherited from her, and said something that she had known since the day she she discovered your existence. “I won.” She said lovingly. She had won, she had won in life because she had you. What else could she ever need?
You huffed, not understanding what she really meant. “Next time I will.”
“Maybe.” Natasha chuckled. “Let’s go sweetheart, you can sleep in my bed.”
You smiled up tiredly at Natasha as she moved some hairs from your face. “Yes please, Mama.”
“I love you. Malyshka.”
“Iluvoo too...” You replied, half asleep on your Mama’s shoulder already.

Baby Outlaw
Summary: Natasha has found out about another little girl who managed to escape the Red Room and she’s put Yelena onto it. But you escaped over a year ago and have no intention of being found (Part 1)
Tumblr media
A/N: Here we go: my first not-Peaky fanfic on this blog. I started writing this one a while back and I’ve written a few more parts already, but I just wanna see first if anyone is interested in this one. Also, I wrote this one with an OC originally, but decided to post it as a reader insert, because people on here prefer those usually. Anyways, let me know what you think and whether you’d like to read more!
Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3
Words: 3228
*****
“Yelena.”
“Hi! Are you calling me from your superhero friends’ headquarters? Are they with you now? How is the god from space doing? Tell them I said ‘hi’!” She excitedly answered the phone, only to suddenly change her tone, “Wait, what is wrong with you? You sound so serious.”
Natasha was serious, “I need you to track someone down.”
“I am,” her younger sister still didn’t quite understand, “You gave me the file with all the girls, remember? I’ve been tracking them all down for the last months.”
“I know, I’ve heard.” Still there was the urgency in her sister’s voice and it didn’t go unnoticed by Yelena. “This one is special.”
“They all are.” To Yelena, this was a matter of principle; from faceless weapons they were now free women, all important and valued. Still she understood, “Special why?”
Natasha sighed on the other end of the line, “Do you remember everything Dreykov did after I managed to get out?” She tried to hide the guilt from her voice as much as she could, but didn’t quite manage it.
“Of course. The security got much stricter, punishments harder, and the chemical subjugation. No one escaped after that.”
“Well, someone did,” Natasha said sharply. “Another girl managed to get away, only a year ago. She escaped from the woods, when they were training her. During the blind dropping.”
Yelena remember that part of their training well. The young girls were dropped in the middle of the woods during the freezing winter and had to get back on their own. It had taken her days to do it. A lot of girls never came back. “But wait, that means she’s only small...” she wondered out loud.
“I think she’s twelve now, thirteen maybe?”
“How did she get away? The tracker...”
“She cut it out of her leg,” Natasha finished her sentence for her. “This must’ve been before they did the operation on her.”
“Umnaya devochka...” Yelena mused with some admiration in her voice.
“She won’t be in your files.”
“I can find her,” Yelena said confidently, “if you can tell me where she was last seen?”
“St. Petersburg,” Natasha was obviously rummaging through some files on the other end, “but that was almost a year ago.”
Yelena nodded and was quiet for a little while. Then she wondered, “Why is she special? To you. There were so many little girls. We all were little girls once.”
Her sister didn’t reply straight away and when she did, some emotion slipped into her voice, “She doesn’t have anyone. I checked. Dreykov killed her whole family. And she managed to get away, just her, but now she has nowhere to go and no one to go to. I think she deserves someone looking out for her for once.”
“I think so too. I will look out for her,” Yelena answered decidedly, “I will find her.”
Natasha felt a certain relief wash over her. She knew Yelena would understand. After all, if she didn’t, who would?
*****
Six weeks later, Yelena was staying in a small apartment somewhere in Camden Town in London. It had taken her quite a while to track down the little girl who somehow had slipped through Dreykov’s fingers. She’d survived the Red Room and found a way to use it to her advantage. Yelena decided that as soon as she’d found the girl, she would have to ask her a lot of questions on how she did it.
But the kid was slippery, as Natasha would say. In the last month, she’d moved cities twice and changed the name she went by four times. In St. Petersburg, they called her ‘Anya’ at one of the shelters where she sometimes went for food. In Berlin, the homeless kids mentioned a girl named ‘Lisa’ that fit her description. In Paris, she’d dyed her hair, clever girl, and went by ‘Cleo’ and then ‘Lilian’. Finally, Yelena tracked her to London, where she heard rumours of a ‘Maisie’ living rough, which was funny to Yelena, because that name did not suit her at all. She felt like she knew the girl already.
But the trail kept going cold. Yelena was constantly chasing shadows and rumours, never catching actual sight of her. Until London. Up until a few days ago, the former assassin had spend days gathering information and had gotten a recent description. And then, when she wasn’t even really looking for her, she’d seen a kid on the streets. It was only a glance but Yelena knew it was her.
“Hehe, there you are, you little fish,” Yelena whispered to herself, as she observed a child that had gotten so good at not attracting any attention to herself, that Yelena noticed at once. Right now, she was walking around the farmers market in Islington and she’d already managed to nick two apples, some chocolate and some more chocolate, a can of coke and a loaf of bread. All the food disappeared into her seemingly endless pockets. Yelena smirked at the sight.
“Well, that explains one thing,” she told the little hooded figure from far away, “how you managed to survive the Red Room’s starvation techniques. Let’s see what you do next, rybochka.״
But as Yelena made her way to follow the girl who had just rounded a corner, she saw that she had vanished. “Shit,” she hissed and cursed herself internally for being spotted. Quickly, she started running until she caught a glimpse of the blue raincoat the girl was wearing. Fast a lighting, she darted through the crowds and Yelena had the hardest time keeping up with her. Through the streets she chased her, waiting for her to slip up somehow, but she never did. Nimbly, the girl suddenly sprinted into a narrow little street and Yelena almost ran by it. At the end, she jumped over a few cars and crossed the road, while Yelena had to wait for them to pass before she could follow. She was losing her, a twelve-year-old girl, and it bothered her immeasurably.
“Oh, come on!” the blonde called out, as the kid suddenly did a double take and disappeared into the crowds again. Full of frustration, Yelena shoved people aside left and right to her. And then, pure luck, she recognised the raincoat right in front of her. She grabbed it tightly and tried to tackle the girl to the ground, though carefully, very much aware that this was just a child. However, this child had received years of training in one of the most severe facilities on earth and as soon as she felt Yelena’s tightened grip on her shoulder, she spun around, ducked and flipped her assailant over her shoulder.
With an “oooff” filled with surprise and embarrassment, Yelena hit the pavement. “Seriously?” she muttered and in that moment, she locked eyes with the strange girl. It was like the world stopped for a few seconds. Yelena recognised both the fear and the resolution in the other’s eyes. She opened her mouth to say something to calm her down, but as she moved to get up, the girl kicked sand from the streets into her eyes. Spluttering, the assassin wiped her face and lost sight of the girl. When she pushed herself up, she was gone.
Cursing loudly in Russian, Yelena attracted quite a bit of attention on the crowded streets. She huffed with irritation and walked away. Then she took out her phone and called her sister.
“Did you find her yet?” Natasha answered by way of greeting.
“I lost her.”
“Again?” she sighed, “She’s only twelve, Yelena.”
Full of indignation, she protested, “Well, none of this would have happened if you would have given me the correct information sooner! She is too smart now.”
“Smarter than you?” Some sarcasm laced Natasha’s voice and Yelena could practically hear her smirking on the other end.
“I have sand in my eyes...”
“Poor baby,” She now not even tried to hide the humour in her voice. “Do you need me to come down there to help you?”
“Yes,” Yelena replied at once, mainly because she just wanted to see her sister again, but reconsidered, “No. No, I know you are busy with superhero stuff.”
Natasha was silent for a little while, letting her younger sister sulk for a bit, “Stop chasing her. You’re probably only scaring her away. Remember what they taught us about being followed?”
“Find out who is following you and why.” The tactical theories had been an integral part of their training.
“Exactly.”
Yelena bit her lip and suddenly smiled, “I know where she’s going next.”
*****
As soon as you were certain you’d lost the assassin, you made your way back to Camden Town. For a couple of weeks now, you’d noticed someone on your trail and while you’d had your suspicions, your pursuer managed to remain in the shadows for the most part. Until the last few days: you’d decided to flip the tables on her and tried following her. This all went according to plan, up until today. Still, you figured you could use your little scuffle to your advantage, because now she’d be busy trying to find you. This gave you a chance to check out her apartment and learn more about her.
It hadn’t been hard for you to figure out where she’d been staying. In fact, it had been laughably easy, if you knew what to look for. And so, only half an hour later, you were standing in front of the right building.
Now for a way to get in. You debated climbing up the walls, but there were a few too many tourist out and about for your liking. As a stroke of luck, one of them walked up to the front door and was currently fiddling with the keys.
“Let me try,” you walked up to him with a winning smile. “My mum owns this apartment, there’s a bit of a trick to it...” Without suspicion, he handed you the keys and soon enough, you’d opened the door. “See?” you charmingly beamed up at him. He didn’t think anything of it as you followed him inside.
After waving after the tourist, you walked up the stairs to the third floor. You knew it had to be one of two apartments on the front side of the building. Singing some Russian song to yourself, you settled on trying one of them.
Forcing the lock was a piece of cake and it took you about four seconds to do so. After looking around for a few moments, you knew you’d picked the right apartment. Everything looked staged somehow: there was some furniture and even a few knick-knacks scattered around, but none of it really seemed to reflect a real personality. This was an assassin’s cover story, without a doubt.
“Bed first,” you whispered to yourself, as you lifted up the mattress to look for the most obvious hiding places. Nothing there. Then you checked a few random drawers and eventually made your way to the kitchen. There, on the table and in plain sight, you found a postcard yet to be sent. You flipped the image of Nelson on his column around and on the back was written: ‘The biggest poser of them all, just for you. Love, Yelena.”
“Yelena...” you tried out the name carefully. Suddenly, your stomach made a growling noise and you went in search of some food.
Just as you had your head stuck inside the refrigerator, you heard a sound behind you. Quickly, you slammed the door shut and ran for the bedroom window, but when you got to it, a blonde was blocking the way.
“Hi!” she cheerfully said, which only gave more rise to the panic you felt building up inside of you. So, she continued, “You know, if you are looking for more food, I can make us something.”
“Shit,” you hissed and ran into the other direction.
Behind you, you heard her call out, “You do not have to run, I am happy to cook us something. I am hungry too, you know!”
Not knowing what else to do, you fled into the little bathroom and locked the door. Breathing heavily, you tried your very best to keep your focus, just as you were taught. But panic settled into the pit of your stomach, because as soon as you laid eyes on her again, you were certain: she was a widow. And you’d rather die than be taken back to the Red Room.
“Little fish...” she called out from the other side of the door, “Please just stop. It is no use. That window will not open. I have tried.”
You tried the window and cursed again at finding she was right.
“Yes, much shit,” the voice confirmed.
You slapped the side of your head three times, telling yourself to snap out of it. The only way you are going to survive this, you told yourself, is by staying calm and thinking.
“I just want to talk. And eat.”
But her talking to you didn’t help. In fact, it only increased the urgency to flee you felt. Finally, you let yourself slide down against the door and sighed. If you were going to get out of here, you needed to find a way out of this bathroom first.
Yelena, on the other side, sat down with her back against the door as well. And even though she remembered being that age so well, and she understood all the fear and distrust you were probably feeling right now, she had a hard time finding the right words. So, instead she asked, “During the dropping, how did you manage to escape the dogs? I mean, you cutting the tracker from your leg was smart, I will give you that, but that also makes me wonder: why did they not notice sooner that it was no longer moving? And how did you manage to get out of the forest without dying of frostbite first? I just have a lot of questions, you know, and I really would like some answers, because now I feel stupid for not thinking about all of that when I had my dropping.”
“You wanna know so you can tell them where to upgrade their security?” The words had left your mouth before you could stop them.
“No, rybochka, of course not. Besides, there is no point now. The Red Room is gone.”
You sucked in a deep breath, hopeful for a second, but immediately telling yourself this must be a lie.
“You don’t believe me?” Yelena seemed to sense your emotions, “I have proof.”
Considering all your options quickly, you realised you didn’t have many. “If I come out, you swear not to touch me?”
You heard some movement outside of the bathroom and realised she was getting up. “I swear it. And if I did, you’d probably throw me across the room again.”
Furrowing your brows and wondering if this was another joke, you opened the door and moved out with your back against the wall. There you found Yelena, standing in the middle of the room with her hands up, and a slight smirk on her face.
“Dreykov send you?” you asked, still eyeing all the possible exits.
“Dreykov’s dead.”
You narrowed your eyes, “How do you know?”
“I blew him up. Boom. Just like that,” the blonde smirked again at the memory, “First, we set the Red Room on fire and when they tried to escape, I sabotaged the engine and blew up the ship as they tried to get away.”
“How?”
“I stuck my baton into the propeller and it exploded. Like fireworks,” Yelena nodded proudly.
You frowned again, “There’s no way you would have survived that.”
The assassin made her way to the kitchen, but continued in a conversational tone, “I almost died, but my sister jumped after me and attached her parachute to me. Natasha saved me.”
“Right,” you nodded slowly, still very unsure of what was fact and what was fiction in this story.
“Listen, rybochka, I understand you don’t trust me now. It is okay, but I just want to help you.”
You felt at the lining of your pocket to feel for the reassuring presence of a knife there. “Why do you keep calling me ‘fish’?”
“Because you are slippery and also cute.”
Some strange part of you did like this strange assassin that was probably send to kill you. She felt familiar somehow, like you’d known her for a long time.
“Now what?” you finally asked.
“Now you give me your knife,” she glared at you strictly, like you imagined maybe a mother or sister would, “the one you keep in your pants.”
Rolling your eyes, you produced the small weapon and reached out towards her. But as Yelena tried to take it from your hands, you swiftly kicked her to the side and dashed forwards.
“What was that for!” she shouted out, full of genuine hurt. With a growl, she dodged the next few blows you tried to land. Quickly, you became aware of the fact that she was a lot more skilled than you were but you had one advantage: she tried her very best not to hurt you. Guess there were some upsides to being only twelve.
Yelena jumped out of the way and avoided the chair you threw at her. “Enough!” she warned you, “Stop fighting me or I will have to fight back.” By way of an answer, you kicked the door in her face and sprinted across the little corridor.
This was your mistake, because in those few seconds, you lost sight of her. The moment you rounded the corner, you were tackled to the floor. Yelena quickly straddled your waist and pinned your hands as you tried to claw at her face.
“Calm down!” she instructed loudly, trying to make herself heard over your loud shrieks, “I do not want to hurt you!”
“Maybe I do want to hurt you!” you ground out. Again, you felt a part of you wanting to trust her, but you just couldn’t let yourself do it.
“So stubborn...” Yelena gritted her teeth, as she tried to keep your squirming form in place. “Fine,” she suddenly let go, “As a sign of trust on my part, I will not stop you. Go on, little fish, hit me.”
You balled up your fist and pulled it back, but for some reason, you couldn’t do it.
“Good.” She climbed off of you, “Now we can eat.”
You watched her walk away and wondered, “Are you the Yelena?”
“Yelena Belova, and yes, you have heard from me.”
You had: ‘the greatest child assassin’. It was like she could read your mind, “But I am not her anymore. I am free now.”
“How?”
“I will explain while we eat. Come, little fish,” with a small smile, she motioned for you to follow her.
“Stop calling me ‘fish’!” You got up and walked over to the kitchen.
Yelena was gathering different groceries and you wondered vaguely what on earth she planned on making with all of that. Meanwhile, she stated, “But I don’t know what else to call you. What is your name?”
“It’s Y/N,” you whispered, feeling more vulnerable than ever.
Yelena smiled warmly at you, “Y/N is a nice name, rybochka.”

The Avengers compound hummed with activity as the team prepared for an important mission. The team was tasked with thwarting an imminent threat from a nefarious group seeking to exploit a powerful artifact. As the team gathered their gear and reviewed their plans, you watched with wide-eyed fascination. You wanted nothing more than to be part of the action, like your superhero guardians.
Wanda crouched down to your eye level. "Remember, sweetie, this mission is too dangerous for you. You'll stay here with Nat," she said, her voice filled with motherly concern as she saw the sparkle in your eye as you fantasized about being with the team.
You pouted but reluctantly nodded. You understood the dangers, but that didn't stop you from feeling left out. "Okay, Mama."
The mission was set to begin at sunset. As the Avengers geared up and made their final preparations, you watched from the sidelines. Wanda and Nat had promised to keep you safe, and they both took that promise seriously.
With a heavy heart, Wanda glanced at you. "I know you're disappointed, love, but I need you to stay here. It's just too risky for you."
Your big, innocent eyes filled with tears. You understood the need for safety, but your heart ached to be with your beloved Mama. "I'm scared, Mama." you mumbled out barely above a whisper.
Wanda's heart clenched at the vulnerability in your voice. She knelt down and hugged you tightly. "I promise Nat will protect you, Y/N. Nothing will happen to you, I swear."
“Not me, you.” You explained. You had no reason to worry about your own safety, but Wanda was going on a grave mission, you couldn’t help but worry that something may happen.
“Me? Detka, I’ll be ok. We all have each other’s back.” Wanda assured you, she hadn’t even thought about her own safety to be frank, too busy worrying about how you would react to being without her. Though, maybe that’s what motherhood is all about, always putting your child first. Their feelings, their happiness, and their safety.
“Pwomise?” you wondered looking up at Wanda with doe wide eyes and pure innocence.
“I promise that I will do everything in my power to come home to you safe and sound.” She clarified. Even though unlikely, Wanda couldn't bring herself to make a promise she didn’t have the full power to keep. There was always a chance something could happen to her in missions like these and you both knew it.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the Avengers embarked on their mission. You and Nat standing by watching them depart, your small hand tightly gripping Nataha’s. The compound felt empty and eerily quiet without the usual banter and laughter of the team.
Hours passed, and the tension in the compound grew palpable. Nat kept one eye on the security feeds, monitoring the team's progress. Unable to sleep, you pushed any hesitation you still harbored for Nat aside as you clung to her side like a lifeline. The minutes stretched into hours as you tried to find comfort in your stuffed animal and Natasha’s closeness.
Taking Natasha’s attention away from monitoring the team, an emergency alert blared through the compound. Her heart skipped a beat as she read the message: " Multiple intruders detected. High Alert. Seek safety immediately."
Normally this wouldn’t phase Natasha, but with you to protect, fear gripped her nervous system, and she scooped you into her arms. "Stay close, kid. We need to go to the safe room." With you in tow, she rushed through the corridors, heart pounding with dread. Her first priority was getting you to safety, “How many are we looking at FRIDAY?” she said aloud to the Artificial Assistant.
“I count 7 armed soldiers and 2 unarmed, Miss Romanoff. Would you like me to deploy the nano recon drones for more real-time data of the base?” FRIDAY responded with limited emotion in her voice.
“Deploy the recons and the defense droids, and notify Fury!” she demanded as continued to rush you to safety. On the verge of tears, you waverly spoke, “Natty? What noise is dat?”
“We just need to go to the safe room, Y/N. Someone is here,” she explained as she tactically rushed you across the compound.
You wanted to ask who, but soon enough, you couldn't hold back your tears anymore. The loud noise, the frantic state that Nat was in, and the lack of Wanda all came crashing over you. Even when Natasha seemingly kept her cool as she checked corners and cleared hallways before ushering you along, you could tell that something was very wrong.
“Shhh, everything is going to be okay, I’m not going to let anything happen to you, ok?” Nat tried to reassure you but your tears continued to fall.
Once you got to the safe room, Natasha instructed you not to let anyone else in, no matter who they said they were and to be as silent as you could, before rushing back out to take control back of the building.
“Any idea on what their play is here?” she questioned FRIDAY, trying to put the pieces together, as she left you to gather the weapons she needed to take on such a group. There was nothing on the radar that would’ve led the team to foresee this event happening. Especially now, when everyone is away.
“Intent is Unknown,” FRIDAY informed.
Was that it? Everyone is away, in fact, everything they’d been following for the last 2 months pointed toward this weekend in Glasgow. Was it a distraction?
Pulled from her thoughts, Tony’s name came buzzing through her phone. “Romanoff,” Nat greeted like any other phone call as if she wasn’t in the middle of a dire situation.
“Nat, everything ok there? I’m seeing alerts come through.” Tony queried, optimistically hoping something may have unintentionally triggered the alarms, even though he had taken extra precautions to block unintentional triggers.
“Here? Oh yeah, everything is great. You know, except the gang of at least 9 trying to take over the compound. Peachy, really.” Nat sarcastically replied, she wasn’t upset with Tony, but it was one of her coping mechanisms in times like this, “How’s everything in your neck of the woods?” she wondered, trying to see if her theory had any ground.
“Surprisingly quiet. I’m sending you some help,” Tony said as he deployed suits and more equipment to help fight alongside Natasha.
“Thanks, I have a feeling Glasgow was a distraction,” she uttered as she marched toward the invaders.
Tumblr media
Amidst the dimly lit corridors of the Avengers' high-tech compound, The Black Widow stood alone. The emergency alarms blared in the background, casting eerie crimson lights that danced across her sleek black suit. The once-peaceful sanctuary had been infiltrated by a group of highly trained armed guards, and Natasha was the last line of defense.
“Hey, Fellas!” Nat cheekily shouted towards them
The guards, clad in tactical gear and armed to the teeth, advanced on Natasha with cold determination. They moved in unison, their footsteps echoing ominously against the cold, metallic floors. Natasha could hear their synchronized breaths, a chilling reminder that she was outnumbered.
With a flick of her wrist, Natasha activated her Widow's Bite, sending electrifying shocks coursing through her fingertips. The room's lights momentarily flickered, casting eerie shadows as her attackers closed in.
The first guard lunged forward, wielding a baton. Natasha sidestepped his attack with grace, her movements fluid as water. She delivered a swift kick to his chest, sending him crashing into his comrades.
A second guard opened fire with an assault rifle, spraying bullets in Natasha's direction. She rolled behind a nearby pillar, bullets whizzing past her. Her keen reflexes and agility kept her one step ahead of the deadly hail of gunfire.
From the shadows, she launched a pair of electrified Widow's Bite disks. They struck two guards, incapacitating them instantly. The room was filled with the acrid smell of burnt fabric as their uniforms smoked.
Tumblr media
Amidst the chaos of the compound invasion, as Natasha fought valiantly to protect their home, a sudden surge of determination welled up within you. Being safely tucked away in the secure room, you could hear the sounds of the struggle outside and it gnawed at you, filling your mind with a mixture of fear and courage. What if something happened to Nat? You could prevent it.
With small, trembling hands, you pushed open the heavy door of the safe room. Your heart pounding in your chest as you took hesitant steps toward the fray. You watched Natasha, in her awe-inspiring Black Widow suit, fighting against the row of heavily armed intruders with incredible skill.
Then, You watched her take some punches and you couldn't just stand there. You have powers too, powers you’re still learning to control. With a deep breath, you focused your thoughts, trying to remember what Wanda had taught you about harnessing your abilities.
As the guards closed in on Natasha, your eyes glowed with a faint, cyan hue. Your small hands extended outward, palms out, and concentrated. Vibratory waves emanated from your palm, a powerful force that rippled through the air like invisible shockwaves.
The sudden disturbance caught the invaders off guard. Staggering and stumbling back, their weapons falling from their hands as they tried to maintain their balance. Natasha seized the opportunity, delivering swift and precise blows to disarm them.
But in your determination to help, you had left yourself vulnerable. One of the guards managed to regain his composure and, in a desperate act, fired his weapon in your direction. The shot rang out, and a searing pain lanced through your left shoulder.
Before Natasha could even catch sight of the bullet, you were on the ground crying in pain. Both Tony’s drone and Natasha swiftly subdued the last of the guards and she rushed to your side. Her heart ached with worry as she gently cradled you in her arms.
Tumblr media
As soon as the bullet made impact, Wanda could sense that something wasn’t right, even from miles away. It was as though an invisible thread had been pulled taut, stretching across the miles that separated you. Her brow furrowed in concern as she continued to sense that something was terribly wrong back at the compound. She couldn't put her finger on it, but her maternal instincts told her that you were in danger.
Wanda began running through every option she has to get to you. Would using her powers be faster? What if she used her powers on the jet, could she make it go quicker without overloading the engines?
After weighing her options, she went with the latter. The team had already reversed course once they discovered it was a set up, “Hang on tight,” she said before supercharging the engines.
“Wanda, what are you doing?” Clint managed to get out as he was smushed against his seat from the G-Force.
“Y/N is hurt. I can feel it.”
Tumblr media
When she finally arrived at the compound, her fears were realized. The sight that greeted her was both heart-wrenching and heartwarming. She found Natasha cradling you in her arms, your face contorted in pain but also displaying a remarkable resilience.
Wanda rushed to your side, her eyes filled with concern. "Y/N! Natasha!" she exclaimed, her voice trembling. She knelt beside you, “Are you hurt?” she frantically asked, her hands glowing with a soft, soothing light as she assessed the extent of your injuries.
Natasha looked up, relief washing over her features as she saw Wanda. "Wanda, i’m sorry, i- i’m so sorry, i put her in the safe room and she tried to help-," Natasha explained, her voice laced with fear of wandas wrath and admiration for your bravery. "She used her powers to protect us, but she got hurt in the process."
“Mama, miss you!” you gasped through clenched teeth.
Wanda's heart swelled with a mixture of pride and concern as she looked down at you. Gently stroking your forehead, she used her powers to ease the pain. "You're so brave, little one," she whispered, her eyes filled with tears. "I'm here now, and I'll make sure you're okay."
Though clearly in pain, you managed a weak but heartfelt smile as you looked up at Wanda.
Even though Wanda was upset that you were caught in the crossfire, she couldn’t blame Natasha. She understood that Natasha, like herself, cares deeply for your well-being and did everything in her power to protect you during the invasion. The priority for both of them was getting you fixed up.
Tumblr media
Wanda paced nervously alongside Natasha in the compound's infirmary while you lay on a medical bed, receiving treatment for the gunshot wound.
Natasha reached out to gently place a hand on Wanda's shoulder. "She's going to be okay, Wanda. The doctors are doing everything they can."
Wanda nodded, but her brow was furrowed with concern. "I know, Nat. I just can't believe she came out of that safe room. She's so young, and she shouldn't have been in danger."
Natasha sighed, understanding Wanda's anxiety. "I get it, Wanda. I tried to keep her safe, but she's got that Stark stubbornness, you know? She was determined to help."
Wanda looked at Natasha with a mix of gratitude and worry. "I appreciate that you were here to protect her, I just wish it was different, I wish I had been here, we should have been more careful. She's just a child."
Natasha nodded in agreement. "You're right, Wanda. We should have been more careful about sending everyone on a wild goose chase. But you know how determined she can be. She wanted to help because she’s seen you and me doing what we do."
Wanda sighed, her shoulders slumping with fatigue and relief. "I know, and I'm proud of her courage, but I, I just hate to see her in danger like this. She can’t take after us, I never want her to be in danger again."
Natasha squeezed Wanda's shoulder reassuringly. "We'll keep her safe, Wanda. We're a team, remember? And we'll make sure she knows the importance of staying out of harm's way."
Wanda finally met Natasha's gaze, and there was a softness in her eyes. "Thank you, Nat, for protecting her. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to her."
Natasha smiled gently. "We're her family, Wanda. We'll always do whatever it takes to keep her safe." she noted as she enveloped Wanda in a comforting embrace. Sinking into the hug, Wanda clung to Nat as she buried her face into her neck and relaxed into the arms of her lover.
As they continued to watch over your recovery, the couple knew that they would need to work together to ensure a balance between protecting the child they loved and nurturing your independence and bravery.

Birthday Wish
A/n: This is an idea I got from a post on Facebook I think and well here it is.

Warning: uhm really angsty and sad and sad and really sad. Mentions of neglect of child, suicide, and death. Let me know if it should add more.
Tumblr media
It's your mom's birthday.
What would a 7-year-old give her?
You have been taking down notes of what would your mom want. The reason why the page was full of scribble is that you don't know what she wants.
Why you don't know what she wants?
Because you guys don't even hang out. Your mother somehow loves you in a different way it seems.
She often tells you to go do something else when you ask for her time. Or leave her alone so she could focus on her work. Or just don't talk to you.
It could go months or years like she forgot she have a daughter. She somehow just remembers you there when you ask for her to give you attention which by the way just seems to irritate her.
Today though you wanted her to not be pissed at you for the gift you're gonna give her. Every birthday you give her cards or cupcakes which she either throws away or burns.
But somehow no matter how you rack your small brain no ideas would come up. So for a solution, you decide to survey the team cause somehow they know your mom more than you.
Most of them said 'give her a card'. Or just 'give her a hug and wished her happy birthday' which is all you did and still pissed her off.
Until you came across Steve. Who by the way always know what to say.
"Uncle Steve?" you whispered, peeking by his office door.
"Yes," he replied in the same manner.
"How do I know what to give mama for her birthday?" you tilted your head, still outside his office to give him some privacy like you always do with your mom.
"Come here" he ushered. You timidly made your way to him your head bowing cause you were not used to people letting you in their office.
He lifted your chin for you to look him eye to eye. "Give your mama something special" he mused. "Something she always wanted and make sure the gift comes from the heart." he mused, pointing at your chest.
You pondered, furrowing your eyebrows in deep thought. And then it clicked.
"Thank you, Uncle Steve" you exclaimed, running out of his office. The man couldn't help but chuckle.
""
Something your mom always wanted was what she tells you every day. How could you be so stupid?
What she always wished for was something you never thought could make her happy. No matter how she says it, even if she changes the word and its sentence. It holds the same meaning.
You hesitated for a minute but you knew this is what she wants. It's not about you, it's about making her happy and she will never be mad at you. Anything so she wouldn't be mad right?
""
Natasha came home after her mission. Tired and drained out. She was surprised you didn't greet her at the door. She exhaled satisfyingly. You probably learned not to bother her when she's home from a mission.
Tired and worn out she slowly made her way to her room, rubbing her eyes to hopefully pry her eyes open so she could do her nightly routine before sleeping.
Opening the door she flicked the switch on to properly see where she's going.
Her eyes which were once loopy and tired were now widened at what she saw. Her mouth was agape and an audible gasp left her lips.
You were in her room.
Hanging
Natasha didn't know what to do. It seems like her world became frozen and it was your hanging body and her that was only moving.
You were pale and lifeless. Your eyes closed and somehow you look in peace.
She never moved. Never moved a single muscle. She was only moved when she was nudged by Tony also the sleep-deprived person who's always up no matter what time of the day.
Noticing the redhead and curious at what the redhead could be so scared about that she froze. He also looked up seeing your limp body.
Tony franticly called the team and instruct Friday for medical assistance. Everyone was running around in a panic. Shouting and panic rambling can be heard all around the compound. But all of it was muffled in Natasha's ear.
The team can even get a hold of her so she guided her to the bed and leaves her alone for a while.
When everyone was out a lone tear escaped her eyes and followed by a series of tears she can't control. She sobbed and wailed. And she somehow couldn't stop it no matter how she tried.
She cried until no tears were left. She stared nowhere until she saw a colorful letter on her side table. Written on it was "HAPPY BIRTHDAY"
She knew it was yours. She shakily opened it and cried once more.
Dear Mama,
Happy Birthday, mama! I know I shouldn't make a letter cause you hate it and you'll probably burn this off. But I just wanted this to be a tradition to give you a letter every birthday and since this is my last one I had to do it. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry I always make you mad mama. I didn't mean to. I'm sorry you had to take care of me like you always say. I didn't really wanna go but you have to have what you want for your birthday right? I hope this finally makes you happy mama. And I hope this also doesn't make you mad like the last gifts I gave you.
I just don't know how to make you happy mama. And this is what you always wished for and that needs to come true. Thank you for taking care of me mama. I'm sorry you had to.
I love you mama even if you don't love me back.
Your daughter,
Y/n
""
She doesn't know how to feel. Everything she said to you all replayed in her brain. Every nasty thing and every neglect. All was there.
Wishing you were never born, never alive, and wishing she killed you herself. That we're just a few of them.
All of it was the other way around.
Now she wished
It was her hanging

“Kid.” Tony bumped the door of your bedroom open with his hip, holding a bag of McDonald’s in each hand and staring at you patiently. You said nothing, just set down your homework and sat up from your bed. “It’ll be there when we’re done. There’s ice cream in the fridge, too.” Your dad motioned for you to come along and took you to the living room where the movie you were dying to see—which didn’t come out for another month—was currently paused on your screen.
“Really?” You chuckled and sat down on the couch. “Did you call the director? Again?”
“Me and him go way back, he’ll do whatever I ask him. Ready?” Tony asked, just as he heard the front door open. “Oh, crap, I thought she was working late.”
“It is late.” Pepper overheard him and kissed him on the forehead as she walked by. “You better have gotten me some food, too.” You and your dad laughed, but his laughter was more of remorse as he handed his bag off to her. “Y/N, are you excited? I wish I had study breaks like this when I was in school.”
“Shh. Sh. Sh. The movie’s starting.” Tony lowly bothered her as he pressed play and she sat beside him. “Time to relax.”

Y/n’s pov
I don’t remember much of last night after knocking the mop over all I know is that Wanda and Natasha at one point we’re comforting me which was weird in itself.
I stirred slightly before noticing a presence beside me, well more like under me. my head was laid against someone’s chest, i could hear their steady heartbeat and smell their perfume. My eyes fluttered open slowly and the first thing i saw was a mass of red hair. I gasped wrenching out of her arms but winced when an IV pulled my skin. “Shit…”
Wanda shot up from her position, asleep next to the bed in a chair and reached her hands out. “Baby don’t pull on that. We’ll get it taken out properly.” My head whipped up to stare at her as she stood across the bed from me, one arm stretched out, the other clutching the sheets under Natasha who had propped herself up on her elbows staring at me confused.
“Wha- why- what’s g-going on?” My voice came out in a hoarse whisper, grating against the throat.
“You got shot yesterday detka… you almost passed out in the hallway. Turns out you also had a fever. You spent the night in the medbay. We didn’t want to leave you alone.” Wanda explained softly sitting back down, giving me space to figure out what was going on.
“But-but why was I sleeping on Natasha…?” A glimpse of sadness flickered over the redheads eyes before she gently smiled. “You were upset last night darling so you asked me to cuddle. Come here, let me take the IV out and we can go find somewhere more comfortable to talk hmm?” I bit my lip nodding carefully, sizing them both up before I took small steps toward the bed where Natasha gently took my hand and pulled the IV drip out of my arm. She placed a bandage over the spot, kissing it, almost out of instinct.
A look of confusion must have flickered across my face because Wanda sighed softly. “Come darling, let’s go sit in the living room hmm?” I retracted my hands and interlaced them together in front of me and followed the couple as we went towards the living room. They seemed to have a conversation with each other through their minds.
I sighed as my anxiety started to increase. I struggled the most being around these two as I’ve always wished they could almost mother figures towards me however they don’t like me. They sat on the couch, side by side, their hands interlaced. I sat in an armchair, crossing my legs underneath me, causing me to wince before untucking my left leg and let it hang down, swinging back and forth slightly. My head was tucked down, my eyes staring at my hands which were now picking at my skin around my thumbs, a bad habit I picked up from being around Natasha.
“We need to talk to you detka.” Natasha said quietly. “We messed up in the past. We shouldn’t have been treating you the way we were. It wasn’t fair.”
“You’re right it wasn’t.” I snapped, my defences coming out as i glanced up at them through my eyelashes, the look of sadness flickered across their faces confused me.
“Detka… let us finish okay?” Wanda said softly, I nodded softly in response. “We messed up. We want to make things right and explain why we acted the way we did. Can we do that?” I nodded softly finally looking up at them as Natasha continued. “You shouldn’t be on this team. Not because you aren’t skilled enough but because you’re still so young. You deserve better, to try and live as a teenager. We hoped maybe if we didn’t get close to you then maybe you would want to leave. You would ask Fury to move you… but you’re to stubborn for that.” I snorted slightly nodding my head, knowing fine well she’s right on that count.
“You are so important malyshka. You deserve to have a family which if you would like, me and Natasha would like to be that for you. Even if you don’t want us to be your official parents, we would still like to be your guardians y/n. People you can rely on. Talk to. Go to if you’re upset or scared or hurt.” Wanda said, her eyes full of fear, fear of what? I have no idea, all I know is I never wanted her to feel it again. “Last night when you were out of it, you called us mama and momma. It really made us realize how much we care about you.”
During her talk, my eyes welled up, tears filling them up, my hands picking at the skin even more now, causing it to bleed. I leaped out of my seat and clambered into Natasha’s arms, my tears turning into light sobs as I buried into her neck. “Mama… it was real… you-you… you wanted me…”
Natasha’s arms wrapped around my body, pulling me into her, rocking was back and forth gently. I felt warm drops on my head and looked up at her blinking softly. “Mama… don’t cry…”
“They’re happy tears detka… I’m just glad you feel so safe with us… we love you so much and we will spend the rest of our lives showing you that.” She said pressing kisses all over my face, making me erupt in giggles before Wanda stole me and tugged me on to her lap, her arms wrapped around my waist, pressing kisses into my head. “We love you so much detka… so much…”
“I love you guys too momma…” I murmured burying into the crook of her neck, my arms wrapping around her neck. I yawned softly into her neck and then felt her chuckle softly. “If you’re sleepy detka, take a nap, we won’t go anywhere okay?” I nodded softly into her neck and after reaching my arm out for Natasha who placed her hand in mine allowing me to pull her closer, snuggled into the two falling asleep rather quickly.
Natasha’s pov
Y/n pulling my arm so I was wrapped around her and Wanda made my heart flutter. This sweet girl took our talk so well. She’s already so comfortable around us. I love her so much. It makes my whole body melt. The three of us sat like this, cuddled together, Wanda and I just chatting about nothing until a loud bang of a door slamming opened, caused y/n to jump and start shaking in our arms.
“Shhh… you’re okay detka… it was just the guys being loud… you’re okay…” Wanda muttered into the girls hair squeezing her slightly. I shot a hard glance at Tony, Thor and Sam who stumbled in laughing loudly. They all froze seeing my glance and gulped. “Sorry… didn’t mean to wake your girlfriend Tasha…”
“You didn’t. You woke our daughter asshole.” Wanda snapped looking up at Tony who raised an eyebrow and stepped forward seeing y/n in our arms, a small shake still running through her small body. “You’re-you’re… sorry do we like her now?”
“We’ve always liked her Stark. Honestly I’m so annoyed with you guys. By the way, you’re lucky that y/n needs me right now. I’m close to snapping your neck. You are the reason she got shot yesterday the. you had the audacity to blame it on her?! Youre fucking sick. She’s a kid! She doesn’t deserve to be treated the way we have all been treating her.” I warned sending him one of my classic Natasha glares. The man visible gulped and took three steps back. “From now on, Wanda and I will be in charge of y/n. If you treat her badly, you will pay. She also won’t be going on missions until we agree she’s ready and old enough. Do you understand me?!” All three men nodded quickly before shooting out of the room. I took a deep breath before a soft whisper came from below me.
“Mama…?” I looked down to see y/n’s bright green eyes staring up at me. “Really…? No more missions…? No more… having to hurt people?”
Wanda squeezed her eyes shut, a sob choking out of her throat. “Momma??”
“No baby. No more missions or hurting others. From now on you will be a teenager. A regular kid who has two living mamas okay?” Y/n broke into a grin and flung her arms around both of our necks repeating thank you over and over. “I love you mama.” She said placing a kiss on my cheek. “I love you momma.” She said placing a soft kiss on Wanda’s cheek, making the brunette grin widely and attack her face with an abundance of kisses.
“And we love you to detka. With all our hearts.”

Twick or Tweet
Warnings: none (I think), let me know if I missed any :)
Pairings: Avengers x child reader
*not my gif*
Summary: You do some early trick or treating around the tower
A/N: Halloween Event 🎃
Please don’t plagiarize my work, you may reblog if you like but I’m asking that you don’t steal my hard work
Tumblr media
The sound of giggles was slightly muffled through the door, and Steve had to try and suppress his grin so that he could act surprised.
A small knock echoed off the walls of his room and he waited a second before opening it and looking around in confusion.
His gaze landed down at you and he furrowed his brows, “Y/n? What are you doing here?”
You giggled, orange and black witch costume swaying slightly as you shook before looking up past the brim of your pointed hat and to the blue eyed man, “Twick or tweet!” You exclaimed excitedly.
“Oh, well I can’t deny candy to the cutest looking witch I’ve ever seen.” He teased, reaching over to the table where he definitely hadn’t placed two pieces of chocolate candy for this very purpose, “Here you go.”
The candy was dropped into your little pumpkin-shaped bin and you squealed, “Tank you, Unca Steve!” Another toothy grin was flashed at the man before you waddled away and over to the next door down the hall.
Nat stood up at the sound of your tiny fist hitting the door and she smiled softly, “Hey there, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?” She asked, squatting down to your level and playfully flicking the top of your hat.
You giggled, face scrunching up as you looked at the woman, “Twick or tweet!” You repeated, eagerly holding your bin out in front of you.
“Hmm,” The redhead pretended to think as she slowly stood up, “Let me see what I have here.”
She reached behind the door and pulled out a large bag of chips that she had snagged from Tony’s snack cabinet earlier.
“Yay! Yay!” You cheered, jumping up and down in excitement.
When she bent down to your level again, you were quick to place a sloppy kiss on her cheek, “Tanks aun’ Naddy!”
“Anytime, little one.”
The next door over, Thor was bouncing on the balls of his feet, practically jumping out of his skin in both anticipation and excitement.
Your fist had barely even tapped the door by the time it flew open and you were met with the sight of a very enthusiastic looking God.
“Lady Witch!” He exclaimed loudly, probably shaking the tower a little bit, “I have brought you some candy for your Halloween!”
He rushed back into the room and returned only a second later with a big bowl filled to the brim with candy, dumping the entire contents into your bin.
He wasn’t the only one who was thrilled anymore.
Loud laughs of joy escaped you as you looked down at your loot, “Tank you, tank you!” You chanted, rushing off to yet another doorway.
Clint opened the door about a minute after you knocked, and in that time you rocked back and forth on your heels, huffing impatiently.
When it finally did swing open, he was leaning against the frame, looking down at you cooly, “Sup, kid?” He appeared to be the only one who hadn’t gotten the memo.
“Twick or tweet!” You demanded cutely, holding up your almost full bin in front of your face.
He raised his eyebrows, “Halloween?” Then he took a quick glance around his room, “Alright kid, you just stay there.”
When he returned, he was holding a packet of Oreos, which he tossed in your tub, “Here, kid, knock yourself out.”
You narrowed your eyes at him for a moment before giving a firm nod and turning on your heel to walk away.
He blinked after you for a moment before shrugging and closing his door once more.
The next person to see you was Bruce, who nervously eyed your candy load, “Are you sure you should be having that much junk food, n/n? You could get really sick if you eat all of that.”
“Twick or tweet.” You ignored him.
And he ignored you in return, “I really don’t think I should be giving you anymore-“
“Candy!” You yelled, silencing him.
His eyes widened and he quickly rushed away, only to come back a second later and throw a bag of popcorn into your pile.
You smiled sweetly, “Tank you, unca Buce.”
The door to Tony’s room opened before you even reached it, and he quickly pulled you into it before stealthily closing it.
“You got the candy?” He asked once he was finished.
You giggled, dumping all of it onto his table in the center of the room.
A large grin broke out onto his face and he picked you up and spun you around, “Well done, my little witchy pumpkin!”
Another laugh escaped you, “Tank you, daddy!”
“We’re gonna have so much fun eating all this candy.” He promised placing you down and making his way over to the couch, already unwrapping a chocolate bar, “Just make sure not to tell your mother.”

[Steve]
If the night at Bucky's had been an isolated incident, I wouldn't have thought much about it. Unfortunately, in the days that have followed, things have only seemed to get more and more difficult for Willa.
It started the following morning, when I woke up around 5:00am to find the little girl in the bed next to me, bawling her eyes out. I had quickly switched on the bedside lamp, checking her over to see what was the matter, and I found her to be in the grips of a seemingly hellish night terror. She had no mind channel open, no crimson glow, so there was no way for me to know what she was dreaming of. Immediately, I had gathered her in my arms, rocking and soothing her as best I could while simultaneously hoping to rouse her from her torturous sleep. But it was no use; she was far too deep in the nightmare to break free. She flailed and sobbed and sputtered incoherently for hours, and all I could do was hold her and watch. By the time 7:00am rolled around, she finally woke up, and at that point she was inconsolable.
I couldn't get anything out of her that entire morning. She had fought her way out of my arms and crawled deep under my blankets, and I simply had no heart to remove her. I tried coaxing her out with the promise of cuddles, breakfast, and even her favorite movie, but nothing worked. Eventually, I decided to leave her alone and let her determine when she felt safe to come out, but she ended up staying there for most of the day. When she did finally emerge, she was a puddle of tears, her eyes begging for comfort and reassurance. But at the same time, she wouldn't let me come anywhere near her. When bedtime came around again, I offered to let her sleep with me in my room for another night, and she surprised me greatly by agreeing to it.
Through the night, she had another horrific nightmare, one so terrifying that it sent her jumping out of the bed in fear when she awoke. As soon as she saw me waiting for her with the lamp on, a deeply concerned expression drawn on my face, she grew so afraid of being punished that she began hyperventilating, eventually passing out from her compromised airflow. In the agonizing process of her panic attack, she wet herself again, and it was at that point that I decided I needed to speak with Jenny.
"Did anything happen in the days leading up to her shift in behavior that might've been cause for such a regression?" the mild young lady asks as she sits across from me in the living room. Resting back against the soft cushions of the sofa, I pick apart the past week in my mind, ultimately unable to identify anything.
"No," I sigh with a shake of my head. "There were small incidents here and there, but that's always the way it's been with her. Nothing major happened, at least, not that I can think of." It's now later in the morning, and Jenny and I are wrapping up a last-minute session I requested while Willa plays in her room. The doctor started off speaking with the child herself, but after half an hour or so of not getting much response at all, she decided to come out and work with me instead.
"I see," Jenny notes, scribbling something down on her legal pad. Closing up her pen, she brings her eyes up to meet mine, a familiar sense of warmth and patience lingering in her gaze. "Steve, with everything that Willa's gone through, her road to recovery isn't going to be as smooth as any of us would like it to be." I nod, not sure where the doctor could be going with a statement like that. "And even though things seem like they're getting worse with her, this is actually a pattern that's seen quite frequently with survivors of abuse and trauma who've recently escaped. Willa's body and mind were suppressing a lot of emotions, a lot of fear during her captivity, and even at the tower due to the things Tony did; her system couldn't handle addressing these feelings, so it shut them out. Now that she's in a truly safe place, with a safe person who only loves her and takes care of her, those things are beginning to show themselves because it's safe for them to." A wave of relief washes over me as the woman finishes her explanation, and I let out a deep hum.
"So this... is normal?" I ask. She nods.
"It's a difficult part of the process, since it might seem to both of you like things are getting worse when they should be getting better, but it's really just a sign that her body and mind are ready to start doing some deeper repair."
"I see. That's..." my voice trails off as I bring a hand up to brush through my hair. "That's so good to hear," I finish honestly. "I was really worried that I had done something wrong, or was messing up in some way."
"I don't think you need to worry about that, Steve, not at all. You're doing a phenomenal job with Willa. She just adores you." A faint smile crosses my face as I think of the little girl, and how much love and care I hold for her in my heart as well. "As far as dealing with her new or returning behavior, I'd recommend allowing her to get it out, as much as you possibly can. A big part of her might just need to respond in the way her body originally wanted to. She might need to go through the act of being scared or crying or getting sick, since those were all responses that were made impossible for her up until now. In regards to the increased accidents, it's a very common indicator of sexual trauma in children. I know it's frustrating, but try to be as patient with her about it as you can."
"No, no- it's not even frustrating," I assure her quickly, meaning the words with all my heart. "Really, it's not. It's not a hassle when it happens, not at all; it just makes me so worried."
"I know it's alarming to see her regressing in that sense, but it's totally normal and shouldn't pose an issue permanently as long as she remains in a safe environment where she isn't violated sexually. We're just meeting her where she's at, if that makes sense, and where she's at might go forward or backward for a while before we really start making linear progress. I know you know this already, but Willa is in many ways somewhat younger than five still, at least internally. And that's okay. We just have to let her exist at whatever developmental age she's at."
"And you think- you're sure it's okay? That I'm kind of, well- I don't know, kind of 'babying' her, as Tony would say?" I ask, wanting to be sure the doctor still approves of my controversial approach. Jenny smiles, allowing me to relax even more with relief.
"Yes, that's completely acceptable. Actually, it's probably very therapeutic for her system to be allowed to have those critical early childhood experiences that she was deprived of for so long. Whatever helps her feel safe and secure, even if it's meant for younger kids, is completely fine."
"Good," I nod, feeling slightly more sure about myself as a parent from all of Jenny's encouragement. "I'm sorry she wasn't up to working with you today," I apologize again, "I told her you were coming and asked her to do her best to be open and honest, but... I don't know. At the same time, I don't have much heart to push her."
"It's completely fine," Jenny reassures me once more, shaking her head at my persistent apologizing. "Therapy isn't ever something that should be forced upon a child. She'll talk when she's ready." Glancing down at her notepad, she offers, "I was wondering, though, if maybe the three of us could wrap up the session together? I believe Willa's still playing by herself in her room, and a lot of times children can be demonstrative of what they're thinking or feeling through the ways that they play. Maybe we could sit in with her for a little bit, if you don't mind?"
"I don't mind at all," I tell her, earning a smile as she rises to her feet.
"Alright, then," she says with a nod. "I'll let you lead the way."
Leading the woman back through the house, I stop just outside the child's half-open door, knocking a few times against the sturdy wood before pulling it the rest of the way open. Willa sits on the floor beside her bed, a few toys scattered around her as she holds a small wooden doll in her hands. Her big green eyes meet mine warily, and my heart sinks as she begins to tremble. "Hey sweetheart," I greet gently. For a moment, I remember that just a few days ago, she would beam every time I entered the room. Realizing that we're back to such a state of fear and uncertainty, a tinge of disappointment builds up inside of me. But then, I remember the doctor's words, and I'm able to remind myself that Willa's behavior is actually probably a good sign, in some weird way. "Things are starting to show themselves because it's safe for them to."
"Your daddy and I were wondering if we could sit and play with you for a little bit," the young lady's soothing voice overlaps her previous words running through my head. A look of skepticism forms on the little girl's face as she glances between the two of us, but thankfully after a few more moments, she nods. "Wonderful," Jenny says with a smile, and we enter in, both sitting a few feet back to give the child some space.
"What're you playing, Willa-bug?" I ask in a gentle tone, now able to get a better look at the toys she's taken out of her boxes. She has a bathtub and a sandbox from a dollhouse set, as well as Captain America and Ironman figurines, and the little brown-haired doll she's holding in her hand. The clothes are half torn off the doll, the hair messed and tangled. Big, frightened eyes look from the doll to me, and then back. "Who've you got there?"
"Willa," she says simply, holding up the doll that seems to represent herself. I nod.
"Is Willa getting dressed?" Jenny asks politely.
Swallowing hard, Willa shakes her head. "Off," she mumbles, removing the toy's purple dress and placing it on the floor. She then removes the doll's underwear as well, leaving it completely naked. Next, she reaches over and picks up the sandbox, opening up the cover. Almost urgently, she begins to dig, not stopping until she's created a little hole in the center. Then, she takes the Willa doll, placing it in the center of the hole. A lump forms in my throat as she buries the tiny pair of underpants with it, not paying any mind to the dress.
"Oh, you're... is Willa playing in the sand?" I ask, trying to understand the child's actions. Not giving a response, Willa simply continues with her scene, picking up the Ironman action figure and extending its arm. Clumsily, she begins using the plastic hand of the figurine to begin shuffling sand back over the doll that represents herself. "Willa, sweetie, what- what is Ironman doing?" I question carefully.
Once the wooden doll and her underwear have disappeared completely beneath the sand, Willa extends the other arm of the superhero's body, making them now both stick out straight. With a concerning amount of force, she begins jabbing the hands into the sand, uncomfortable sounds of plastic and wood colliding as the man apparently attacks the girl. Glancing over at Jenny, I see that her brow is furrowed in concentration. All I can hope is that she's understanding what Willa's actions mean, because to be completely honest, I have no idea what to make of any of it.
After several more moments of the violent motions, Willa finally stops, putting Ironman's arms back down and dropping him to the floor. Sifting through the sand, Willa pulls out the wooden doll, shaking her off slightly before finding her purple dress and redressing her. Turning back to the sandbox for a moment, she uses a single finger to re-bury the underpants, causing my brain to ache with questions and concerns. When satisfied with the way the piece of clothing is hidden, Willa picks up the bathtub, once again removing the doll's dress before placing her in the tub, coming to what seems to be a stopping point.
"Sweetheart?" I ask quietly, unable to even form my thoughts into a question.
"Can you tell us what you're doing, Willa?" Jenny fills in for me. "Willa's taking a bath now?" The little girl nods. "What about Daddy? He's with you when you take baths, right?" she continues, picking up Captain America off the floor and offering it to the child. To my surprise, Willa shakes her head, pushing the doll away. Jenny lets her. "No help from Daddy? Okay, that's okay, hun," the doctor says quickly, wanting to avoid upsetting the chidl.
"What was... what happened in the sandbox, honey?" I ask, not sure if I should be asking so many questions but ultimately too worried to refrain from doing so. Willa flinches slightly at my question, her bottom lip quivering as she gives me nothing but silence in return. "Okay, it's okay, sweetheart," I coo soothingly, not wanting to push the subject too hard, "that's okay, you don't have to tell us."
"How about you keep playing, sweetie," Jenny suggests, "it's okay. You said Willa was in the bath?" The small girl nods, looking back down at her toys before pulling the doll out of the tub, redressing her in her purple gown. Then, the child surprises both me and the doctor by repeating the same exact process all over again, starting with digging out the underpants in the sandbox, putting them back on the doll, and then completely undressing it.
My brow creases in perplexion as I watch Willa 'play,' her motions almost seeming like a routine or ritual that her body knows by heart. She repeats the entire scene once, then twice, and by the point in which she's buried herself a third time with her underwear, preparing the Ironman doll to perform his assault, I finally speak again, causing the child to pause. "Willa," I breathe, my heart pounding faintly in my ears. "What are you doing?"
Her wary gaze rises to meet mine and she blinks, her arm beginning to tremble as she clutches the action figure tightly.
"Could you explain it to us?" Jenny adds, her voice laced with concern. "What is Ironman doing to Willa?"
"Why is she buried with her underwear?" I ask, earning a glance of warning from the doctor. Sighing, I take a moment to breathe, not wanting to say anything I might regret. "What is- sweetheart," I murmur as I notice the poor thing's eyes filling with tears. "What is Tony doing to you?"
"Hurting me," she concedes, her voice barely loud enough to hear. Her big green eyes peer up at mine and beg for what she's too afraid to out loud: to not hurt her, myself, to not be angry with her for expressing her feelings with her toys.
"Okay, Willa-bug," I nod, not completely understanding but deciding that at the moment, I don't really need to. My biggest priority for now has to be showing Willa that she's safe and that she's not in trouble for what she's admitted. "What if- how about Daddy comes and helps you?" I offer hopefully, taking the Captain America figure from Jenny carefully and holding it up for the little girl to see. "How about Daddy comes and protects you?"
"N-no," Willa refuses, picking up her sandbox and holding it slightly closer to herself, almost in a protective manner.
"Why not, sweetheart? How about Daddy comes and- comes and makes Tony stop, stops him from hurting you," I try, reaching out with the figure and trying to place it in the sandbox with the other two characters. Unexpectedly, Willa jerks it away, bits of sand spilling out from the sides as a look of anger forms on the child's face, a look I've never seen before. "Willa, please-" I insist, extending a hand to take hold of the sandbox.
But to my complete surprise, instead of pulling back again or allowing me, Willa throws the entire thing at me, sand dumping all over my clothes as she snaps, "No. You don't. You didn't."
As the dust settles into my lap and I blink away the sand from my eyes, I'm met with the sight of Willa staring back at me, any indication of anger or frustration completely drained from her face. Her eyes are as wide as saucers as she gawks at me, as if she, herself, can't believe what she's done. And before I can say anything, before I can reassure her or even try to calm her fears, she's jolted up onto her feet, running right out of her bedroom door.
