A few years ago I did a commission SOS Bulgaria, an organization that supports children across the country. The task was to make illustrations for a small booklet that kids going to meet with a therapist would be given to read while waiting.
It was a short but sweet story about a small boy who's become a problem child after being bullied in school (I personally believe that the main character was perfectly justified in attacking his bullies but perhaps telling this to children would send the wrong message, lol).
In any case, this was a project I did several years ago. Looking back, I am happy to see how much my style has evolved. I still need to draw more though.

The L.A. Cancer Challenge supports life-saving research with support from ordinary people committed to making a difference. It will happen on October 21st.
You can participate in Los Angeles or virtually by reporting your steps through the Internet. You can also donate here.
This year, they aim to raise $600,000. As of July 25th, they have already raised $42,356.
The Amatruda Lab thanks everyone who helps us raise money to save lives. We can't do this without the generosity of normal people!

What are your thoughts on the 'youtube kid celebrities'? You know the ones where the parents film their kids and post it on youtube and get money. The whole thing feels gross to me but I was told that some of them (such as Ryan's World) are okay and the kids get enjoyment out of it.
It's wrong, it's bad, and it usually is abusive.
Who are we asking if they enjoy it? Is it the kids, away from their parents, to people they know won't hurt them if they say no?
And whether they are okay is extremely situational, and the thing is, once you use this kind of content to generate money, you've got a real recipe for disaster.
You're exposing a child to the entire world. You're telling them their names, where they live, their birthdays, and what they do in a day. There is a serious issue with perverts taking these videos or responding to these videos, but there's also the fact you've been made a celebrity without a full understanding of what it means for you.
And people are intense, they are wild and unpredictable. Imagine people crowding around, and threatening, someone - who may still be a minor - as a result of some video of them from 10 years ago when they were 5. It's stuff people do every day to celebrities, and we already have people who behave that way in fandom spaces. Hell, we have people ALREADY doing that with regards to people of viral videos or massive followings - sending threatening messages, threatening letters, doxxing them, etc. It's detrimental to a person's mental health to grow up in such toxicity.
On top of that.. we have countless horrific stories of children in this spotlight being abused, assaulted, killed, etc. It's exploitation and putting a price tag on a child's image is always going to go awry.
Child actors are stereotyped as growing up as "failures" for a reason. Child actors often have a LOT of baggage from the pressure, stress, abuse, and trauma inherent to participating in such a career. Just look at what happened with Britney Spears, she's only recently been able to finally break free of all the absolute bs she's had to deal with her entire life.
I have a link, a timestamp link to a specific point of this video that is extremely relevant. It's a former youtube kid coming forward and talking about their horrible life, and the people of the video discussing the major issues of this.
(CW that they're pretty raucous, raunchy, and flamboyant, so it can be intense, but everything they say is very on point.)

"The chances of developing long COVID, complete with neurological damage, increase with reinfection.
That means some percentage of the present cohort of students will be lost every week, every month, every year. Whatever they might have achieved without infection, their achievements will be hobbled, perhaps for life, by long COVID."

Not being homophobic and protecting children's well being is simply much more important than not being called transphobic or terf. Lazy attempts to insult someone won't hurt the way homophobia and children gender-reassignment treatments do.

*** An amazing summit coming up! Just wanted to share this. ***
Hi all
I would appreciate your help.
From 20 -the 30th of March 2023, there is the "Children's mental health matters summit" in which I am one of the presenters.
Over 35 presenters are delivering excellent sessions on all things related to children's mental health.
I would love it if as many people as possible would attend; please use my affiliate link below as all proceeds I make are going to SMIRA, which is a UK charity helping children and adults who suffer from Selective Mutism which is what my talk will be about.
Selective Mutism (SM) is an anxiety-based mental health disorder where those affected can speak in some situations but not others.
For example, can you imagine a child who cannot speak in school or with friends and, if left like this, have to deal with this into their teens some people have had to deal with this all of their lives?
Thank you, and I know you will get so much out of all the sessions if you purchase your ticket before March 7th; you will get all these fantastic presentations for only £17.

This illustration of a dollhouse is a part of the series with the kid and the therapy sessions. This was an actual dollhouse the people who commissioned it had at their studio, which was used in the sessions. Children would be asked to rearrange the house and the furniture in an exercise that would calm them down and help them feel at ease before talking about their problems. The age of this illustration is starting to show but I still remember having a lot of fun drawing it.

Language and speech disorders in children are common conditions that can greatly impact their development and communication skills. These disorders can affect a child's ability to understand and express language, as well as their ability to produce clear and fluent speech. Seeking treatment for these disorders is crucial in order to prevent long-term consequences and help children reach their full potential.
