17/2/2024 - Dessert
📍 Tong Shui Desserts, Chinatown
🥣 Yam Paste ($5)
Smooth but devoid of sugar. Kind of takes out the joy of eating orh nee. Where's my coconut milk ):
🥭🥣 Red ruby with mango in coconut milk ($6)
Huge bowl, not too sweet but perhaps could be creamier? Maybe it's just me but I would prefer a slightly sweeter version.
Maybe this place is more suitable for older folks as the desserts are really low in sugar.

After dinner @ Hansik, Tina, Andrew & I went to Meet Fresh. We haven't been here in YRS! The place shrunk so much :O it's now like maybe. .. 40% of the former size.
Anyway, we got some things:
The winter season special almond milk tofu dessert; Andrew's winter melon drink; Tina's milk tea (I can't remember which one) & my red bean iced milk slush (?) - lol I think that was the name!
In any case, the name doesn't matter too much, right? It contained a sweetened red bean mixture sitting on top of a milk slush. It wasn't bad; I would say it's comparable to the red bean bingsoo that I really like except this was the watered down drink version. I'm not a sweet tooth but it could really use some sugar or condensed milk. Maybe it's meant to be more mild & more bean-ie but. .. would have been better if a sweetener was added!

Mooncake Festival - September 29, 2003
Traditionally consumed during the Mid-Autumn Festival in China, mooncakes are a type of Chinese pastry item. While moonwatching is allegedly related to the event and mooncakes are considered a delicacy, the festival is mostly about the harvest. While commemorating the holiday, mooncakes are shared among friends or at family get-togethers. As one of the four most significant Chinese festivals, the Mid-Autumn Festival is well-known.

Sending you and your loved ones a very beautiful and blessed Winter Solstice (Dongzhi Festival) with warm rays of sun which will soon bring the season of spring.
忙碌的是生活,离别的是距离,问候的是祝福,期待的是团聚,思念的是情谊,想到的是心意,冬至节日悄悄,温暖慢慢送到,烦恼越来越少,幸福一生。冬至快乐 !
Tumblr media
Dongzhi (冬至) literally means “Winter's Arrival”. It is one of the 24 solar terms of China's traditional solar calendar. It has long been celebrated on Winter Solstice when the night is longest and the day is shortest in the Northern Hemisphere. The main Chinese Winter Solstice traditions are worshipping the Heaven and ancestors. Dumplings and Glutinous Rice Balls (汤圆) are popular food eaten during the celebration of the festival in China and many parts of the world.
