Throwback Thursday: Lollapalooza ‘92 It was an epic concert and a significant time for Grunge music. With the news of the passing of Chris Cornell today, who I saw in 1992 perform with Soundgarden at UBC Stadium in Vancouver, a flood of memories came flooding back. It rained all day, but it was warm, we were soaked. Despite the rain they kept hosing down the crowd with a firehose, many shoes were lost this day as we were passed forward over heads to the stage, I came home wearing another person’s Converse as it was impossible to find your shoes after the concert, with hundreds of pairs on the field. I grabbed a piggyback to the top of the stadium. Missed the ferry to Vancouver Island, slept at the ferry terminal, warmed ourselves under the hand dryers in the washroom. Caught the first ferry home, paid the extra bucks for the buffet and dined like rabid dogs. Perhaps the most memorable concert I have ever attended.
