Somebody brought it up on Twitter and they made a good point: Why do ppl, yt ppl especially, assume that whenever a Black person is cast for something where the character may have traditionally been yt got casted cuz they are in fact Black??? They never base it off talent. It’s always “This is propaganda” instead of trusting casting directors. That’s not to say we sometimes are casted for things simply to make the studio look good and progressive. That certainly happens but to act as if that’s the truth 100% of the time??? Saying Halle was casted to play Ariel simply cuz she’s Black? You can’t be serious. Was Disney thinking of going in that direction? Most likely but you can’t say she got casted based off the color of her skin alone. Halle is very talented and has the look they were going for. She gives off princess vibes. She practically is already a siren so she’s freaking perfect. Also, some of y’all seem to think she’s mixed? Both her parents are Black 🤣.
