Kwami Fusion AU

After a lot of thought and consideration, I’ve finally decided to make my own Ladybug AU. And in this AU, the main heroes are Dragon Bug and Snake Noir! And all of the heroes that regularly appear aren’t single wielders; they’re all fusion wielders! 

I’m really excited about this AU - I’ll be creating a side blog for it soon, where you can send in asks and prompts for Dragon Bug, Snake Noir, and the whole gang! Here are the main wielders:

Chloe - Queen Heart, Pollen and Daizzi (Bee and Pig)

Headcanons time!

The story, for the most part, is the same, just with the kwami fusions listed above

Adrien’s hair stays out in this AU because hair rubs/ear scratches from Dragon Bug

He has a black and teal hoodie on his suit instead of the full mask (he has a regular Chat mask on too); the cat ears stick out through holes on the top of said hoodie

Gabriel wants ALL the Miraculouses in this AU. Not only is he seeking to bring back his wife, but he seeks ultimate power as well.

Its a plot point that Emilie was also evil in this AU. She tried to achieve the ultimate power, but it put her into a coma.

Master Fu guards the Ox with his life, as it is his key to keeping his strength in his old age (and the key to his old age also).

In dire emergencies where they can’t afford to wield both at once, Luka and Kagami are backup Snake and Dragon single wielders

The whole class are backup single wielders as well; they’re only contacted in the most difficult battles

Ivan is Master Fu’s personal choice for the Ox backup 

Snake Noir calls Dragon Bug My Bug, Dragaboo, and M’lady, and still refers to Marinette as Princess

Dragon Bug calls Snake Noir Kitty, Snek, and Scalie. He pretends to be offended by the last one but he not

She sprays him with a Water Dragon if he’s being silly and she’s feeling like a tease

She can’t tell whether its his Cat or Snake side that just hissed at her

He’s a lot more loved and supported in this AU. He and Marinette become friends quicker, he has the Boy Squad, Nathalie isn’t evil and tries her best to be supportive, the Gorilla is just himself, etc.

Alix is a closeted musical lover - you can imagine this all changes when she becomes Rambit. The girl sings and dances like, all the time (Queen Heart will never admit she’s blushing). Why else do you think she has an umbrella as a weapon?

Speaking of Queen Heart, Daizzi helps Chloe be nicer - or at the very least, try to

Multifox and Turtledove are very competitive. This doesn’t change after they’re revealed to one another

Kim getting the Monkey and Tiger at the same time. I’ll let you guess where that goes

Cantor has TWO boomerangs - his horseshoe and a literal boomerang that came with the Dog

Max literally becomes the most loyal person ever because of his two Miraculouses. Dogs and Horses are almost always loyal wielders.

Are you still into ML? I was wondering what you've been thinking of Chloe's development. I remember you being a really big Chloe fan so I was just curious how you think it's been going.

lol i’m killing time at work so i’ll give this a thought out answer 

tl;dr: i can think of 17 different ways chloe could’ve been written better. 

here’s the thing, chloe’s actually one of the more interesting characters in the show in my opinion. that’s why i loved her so much because there was a lot to unpack there, and i think some of the more recent episodes gave us even more to grapple with. 

she’s a rich spoiled entitled girl whose mother was never around, constantly ignored her, and invalidated all of her accomplishments. she was raised by her pushover father who let chloe have whatever she wanted, and chloe acted out in order to a) gain attention from others, and b) gain her mother’s approval. because her father never nipped that behavior in the bud, she got used to using her power and her cruelty to get what she wanted. 

but….her idol is a superhero – a selfless, brave, heroic, and honest superhero who represents everything that chloe isn’t. say what you want about her motivations, but chloe’s physically put herself in harm’s way to save ladybug and help her during fights because she wants the good guys to succeed. she respects what they do. she wants to be those people who save the day and don’t get a thank you. she has what it takes to be a hero, she just needs to snap out of her nonsense. 

the show had me going for a second when she started trying to be nice to people, when she actually admitted to her mistakes and apologized for them, when she opened up to ladybug and realized how her actions were isolating herself from her classmates. but then the writers, in typical fashion, undercut that. 

chloe makes these strides but she’s still just as mean to her classmates as she was before. chloe does the bare minimum and gets a party thrown on her behalf. chloe’s entire three parter redemption arc ends up with her continuing her cruelty as a way to bond with her mother (and stretch out her cruelty for comedic effect). chat noir comes to her with her miraculous and she’s rude and entitled about asking for it, and the justification for letting her continue to use the miraculous is that “well she already knows the powers and we don’t have time to train another girl with a bumblebee color scheme about the rules.” 

it kind of upsets me because i think chloe is totally deserving of a miraculous but not the way she’s been written. her brattiness is overdone to the point where she comes off more as a caricature than a fully fleshed out character. there was a way to make her redemption work and they had a lot of space to do it properly, but ML’s writing is lazy as all fuck. it’s more cringey than anything else and it’s not interesting or enjoyable anymore. 

i still love chloe, but more because im in love with the potential her character could’ve had if there was a good writer mapping out her arc.
