________________________________________________________________
You were covered in darkness, but you were adjusted to the darkness, you lived in the dark with your clan who usually swims in the parts of the ocean where the light just barely touched your skin.
However instead of the comforting warmth and assurance, you had when you were a woman swimming with your clan, your family, it was a lingering warmth and a reassurance that had made you realize you were dreaming and not of your memories.
“(Y/N) you have met an interesting fate having fallen for Lucifer,” a voice echoed around you. You looked around in the dark space to search for the voice but found no answer to that.
“I would not have known of your existence if you hadn’t gone out of that water, it’s strange what this world has created once I left it.”
“Are you the moon? What do you mean by that? All I know is what I have been taught and seen when I was in the ocean”
“You could say I am the moon, but I am more than that and also less than that at the same time. I affect the world around me indirectly but you have caused quite a stir where I am at with your involvement with Lucifer, I wish you the best of luck and the best of health.”
With that, you were startled from your sleep by pressure on your shoulder, and you opened your eyes to see Lucifer smiling at you. Once he saw you were awake he went to say, “Good morning my dear, have a good dream?”
“Funny you should mention that, I heard a voice say that they were the moon, I think anyway. I don’t quite remember what they said but I remember your name,” you say as you start sitting up from the bed.
Lucifer sat down next to you as he took in what you said, humming in thought, he turned to you and patted your shoulder.
“Well the only one I know that could do that, would be my Dad, but I don’t know why he would want to talk to you.”
After a couple of days, you have gotten well versed with different aspects of human life and culture, mainly you are not allowed to eat spaghetti with your hands. You also have gotten interested in the tv that had got you basically hooked on the subtleties of different subsets of human culture, one being that if bad men are about to hurt you you can beat them up.
“Anyway, darling remember when I was talking to you about my consulting job for the police?”
You nodded remembering the different stories of his workplace along with his partner, Chloe. She seemed weird but nice from what you heard from him.
“Well, I have to go in today there is a case that the police department says they need my help with,” Lucifer continued, “and I want you to come with me.”
“I would like to, is it going to be like what I saw on tv with how they deal with violence?” you asked.
“Kind of, it depends, now love let’s get you ready for the day and we can get going.”
--------------------------------------------------
You and Lucifer walked into a one-story house it looks plain and forgettable with its beige outside paint and white shingled roof. There were also some beautiful hydrangea bushes in the front, and you noticed them because they were the only splash of color in the whole property. There were police officers around the property and you saw one documenting the bushes. You tilt your head as you were stalling to enter the house and saw footprints underneath the bushes.
“(Y/N) are you okay? Come on,” Lucifer urged on. He leads you into the home, and you immediately see the crime scene.
 It was an execution. Plain and simple. The victim was a young woman from what you saw, and she was shot point-blank in the back of the head as she was sitting on her couch, she probably knew the killer, since the tv was still on.
The aquarium was direct across from the living room, and you saw the fish in there was trying to get your attention. You can hear the voices of the fish repeatedly crying out, “He hurt her! Help her! He was her friend” You looked at the aquarium and the fishes seem to surround you as they try to talk to you through the glass. ‘Can you show me what he looked like,’ you broadcasted to the fish.
Lucifer was looking at you confused at what you were doing and was about to talk to you when he got interrupted.
“Oh no, you did not bring a civilian to a crime scene” you hear a voice coming towards you.
“Ah detective, how good to see you again, and this is (Y/N) she is my assistant and friend,” Lucifer says.
You turn your head away from the aquarium and saw a stressed blonde woman coming towards you, and you realized that this must be Chloe Decker. She tilted her head with furrowed brows and a hand to her hip as she eyes you.
“Why would you need an assistant?” Decker questioned.
“You know there are always things that I could miss out on while we’re out here and plus don’t you want someone who can put me in line and in order for once?” Lucifer replied.
“That’ll be the day,” Decker snorted.
You tugged on the jacket sleeve on Lucifer to get his attention to you, and he leaned for you to whisper to tell him the thoughts and profile the fish given to you about the person who committed the murder.
“Oh that’s brilliant, darling, see Detective my assistant just gave us a solid lead to go off of. We have a suspect!” Lucifer exclaimed as he grabs your hand and leads you out of the crime scene.
“Wait a minute can you tell me what means?” Decker ran off to you two.
---------------------------------------------
So the three of you ended up at an apartment building on the opposite side of Los Angeles waiting to interview the suspect that the fish had identified to you at the victim’s home.
Lucifer ended up filling into Decker that you had deduced based on the footprints outside the house and the way she was killed, it was someone she knew intimately enough to let the person in without a second glance. You just confirmed that for him with the description of the man the fish saw kill their owner, Blaire Wright. He also found that there was a single picture of him and the victim together faced down so he connected the dots to realize that the relationship must’ve turned to an obsession for the man and had gone possessive over the woman. The old “if I can’t have her nobody can” cliche, which made Lucifer quite bored about that trope but you can’t always choose what happens in your cases.
You all made your way to the apartment building, Decker went to find out from the landlord about the suspect and you and Lucifer were ordered to stay out in the parking lot. You spotted the man that matched the description the fish gave you and the picture Lucifer showed to verify it. His name was Oscar Grant, and he’s suspected to have developed an obsessive behavior over Ns. Wright … and he was heading your way.
Lucifer seemed to be aware of it as he straightened himself and walked over to where the man was walking into the parking lot.
You felt a strange sensation of being submerged in the water again, you felt heavy and light all at the same time. You couldn’t hear what the two were saying, but you felt the danger and sensation of a cornered animal, and that’s when you felt that you had to move. So you did. Grant pulled a gun but as soon as he did you grabbed his forearm and threw him towards the dumpsters that were ten feet away from him. You may have used a bit too much of your strength. There was now a new dent behind Grant that there wasn’t there before and a shocked looking Lucifer next to you and staring at the gun in between you and the culprit.
You heard Decker walking behind you and you heard her go with a bewildered voice, “How in the-?”
When he came to a few seconds later, he was given his rights by Decker and placed in the back of her car off the police department. While you were walking up to you and Lucifer’s ride you felt a lingering gaze on your back throughout that entire encounter. You just shook your head in an attempt to get rid of that feeling.
Later on, Oscar Grant ended up confessing to both the attempted murder of you and Lucifer and the murder of Blaire Wright. Decker relented upon the idea of Lucifer bringing you to cases because you ended up being a pretty good asset.
------------------------------------
Now you were back at Lucifer’s penthouse and you were in pajamas lounging around the bar area in his place. Lucifer was down at the LUX club area taking care of some business that he needed to get done as he told you.
There was a small pool that he had in his apartment which you found, and you can hear the call of the water no matter its state. So you took off your clothes and went in the pool, your tail and scales came as soon as you were submerged and your whole body was singing with happiness as it felt alive again.
The more you spend on land without the return of the love that you came out of the water for, your heart will stop beating unless you step back in the ocean. You forgot to tell Lucifer about that specific part of the deal of you coming on land because you didn’t want him to feel the pressure of returning a love that might not be real, to begin with.
You begin to worry about what might happen if he found out you didn’t tell him the whole truth of your situation to him. You didn’t want him to concerned for your fate, because you never know what might happen there might be a happy ending for you both.
As you were swimming in the small pool brooding in your thoughts you heard the elevator ping, so you peaked your head over the corner of the pool. When you just saw it was Lucifer and no one else you let yourself be seen by him.
“Well hello there, I see you have found my pool then?” Lucifer greeted you. You beamed at him and nodded fervently at that.
“Y’know I never actually saw you as your original mermaid self? Is it alright if I watch you swim?”
“Um sure if you want to, I’m not the most beautiful, there are others in just my clan that have amazing scales and tail fin,” you state.
“Let me be the judge of that, love-” he cut himself off with a mouth agape look as he marveled at your full beauty.
Your tail was massive and the scales decorating and protecting your body were glittering with a rainbow of colors complementing your skin tone. It made you look heavenly and the flowing tail at the end made you look that way even more so.
You became self-conscious at the way Lucifer was just staring at you, so became to fidget under his heavy gaze in the water.
Then he spoke gently, “You are beautiful, absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for letting me see your true self like this.”
“Thank you Lucifer, that means a lot to me.”
The brooding can wait, you have time to be hopeful and to think about that happy ending.

Planning a Hell of a Wedding | ✓ planning the bachelor party
Drabble 08 / ?
Setting: Post s5, maybe post s6?
Word count: 1.1K
Rating: T
Summary of the series: The Devil and the Detective make their way through the wedding planning checklist. One is more passionate about it than the other.  (Works as a sequel to this fic.)
Author’s note: Here’s a little more something for you to read while you wait :)
Read it on Ao3
‘Oh God,’ Dan mutters, his eyes lingering on Chloe’s new ring as he spots her and her permanently grinning fiancé at the bar. ‘We’ll have to plan Lucifer’s bachelor party, won’t we?’ He looks to Amenadiel and Maze. The former looks back at him with something very close to panic. The latter simply shrugs.
‘So?’ Maze leans back in the booth, popping an olive from her Dirty Martini into her mouth.
‘Look around, Maze!’ Amenadiel half-shouts over the loud music. Cosmo in hand, he gestures to their surroundings: Insane amounts of booze and barely clad dancers. ‘Every day in Lucifer’s life is a bachelor party!’
Maze huffs. ‘Well, not anymore.’ Looking like a child who’s had her favourite toy taken away, she glares in the direction of the bar where a moon-eyed Lucifer is playing with Chloe’s fingers as he watches her talk.
‘You’re no better yourself, Maze,’ Dan reminds her, nodding towards her lap with an amused smile.
Maze looks down, her eyes immediately going soft as they land on sleeping, drunken Eve. She quickly looks up again, feigning indifference. ‘It’s not my fault my girl can’t hold her liquor.’
The knowing looks on Dan and Amenadiel’s faces has Maze clearing her throat and averting her eyes. ‘The girl. I said, “the girl”.’
‘Sure, you did,’ Amenadiel smirks, glancing over at Dan. They both chuckle. Maze looks like she seriously considers stabbing them, and Amenadiel quickly returns to their previous topic. ‘But the fact that Lucifer has somewhat resigned his excessive debauchery only puts all the more pressure on us to give him an unforgettable, absolutely phenomenal party!’
‘Pressure’s mostly on the best man, though,’ Dan points out in an attempt to push down the ridiculous performance anxiety already crippling up his back. ‘Right?’ He and Amenadiel both look expectantly to Maze.
‘Whatever,’ she breathes, shrugging again. ‘We’ll just get some fast cars.’
The two men share a look and nod. It's not a bad idea, actually.
‘And some strippers, of course,’ Maze adds, before taking a sip of her drink.
Dan laughs uneasily. ‘Not sure Chloe would like that.’
‘Not sure Lucifer would either.’ Amenadiel nods towards his brother, and they all three watch as Lucifer declines offers from five low cut dresses, barely casting them a glance as he makes his way to Chloe on the dance floor, her favourite IPA in hand and a stupid smile on his face.
Maze rolls her eyes and scoffs, then returns her attention to Dan and Amenadiel. ‘What about male strippers then? I mean, dude’s giving up dick for at least, what, fifty years? If he’s willing to make that sacrifice for Miss Granny Panties, the least he deserves is one last night of man-to-man. Or man-to-man-to-man, if he likes.’
Amenadiel shoots her a flat look. Dan blinks and makes a choked sound, his throat suddenly dry.
‘No?’
Both men respond with silence.
‘Fine. Have it your way. Just cars and booze. No strippers.’ Maze looks deeply disappointed for a second before her face lights up with an idea. ‘Unless…’ With an up-to-no-good grin, she turns around in her seat, as much as she can with Eve napping in her lap, and zooms in on Chloe.
‘What? No, Maze,’ Dan protests when he realises what she’s suggesting. ‘I mean, not just because I’m not gonna ask my ex-wife to take off her clothes in front of her soon-to-be new husband—Dan shudders at the mere thought—‘but because there is no way she’ll ever do that. Trust me.’
Maze looks deeply unimpressed. Then she licks her teeth and raises an eyebrow at Dan. ‘Decker never gave you a proper striptease?’
Before Dan can answer that, Chloe’s ‘Who am I giving a striptease?’ sounds from beside them. Lucifer, of course, is practically pressed up against her side, his hand clutching expensive fabric at her hip—not possessively; just like he never wants to let her go.
‘Me, hopefully,’ Lucifer excitedly replies Chloe’s question, eyes lasciviously gliding up and down her frame.
Chloe must be quite drunk already, or maybe it’s just the novelty of wearing Lucifer’s ring on her finger, because instead of rolling her eyes at him, she puts a hand on his chest, leans in with a smirk and, loud enough for all of them to hear, purrs, ‘I thought you wanted to take this dress off me yourself.’
Lucifer lets out a low, husky chuckle and looks at Chloe like she’s a wet dream come true, and more.
‘Oh, fuck off already!’ Maze grunts towards them and immediately whispers, ‘Not you, baby,’ when a pair of disoriented, slightly hurt doe eyes suddenly look up at her.
‘Don’t mind if we do,’ Lucifer smirks, already pulling Chloe in the direction of the elevator. Before they can get even three steps away, however, Lucifer lets go of Chloe’s hip and returns to the table.
‘Right, but speaking of getting naked’—he glances at Chloe before looking to Dan, Amenadiel and Maze—‘when you do plan my nothing short of spectacular stag night at some point, do me a favour and  keep any kind of ecdysiasts out of it. I mean, I’m all for scantily dressed women dancing’—he gestures towards Sarah performing on the table next to them—‘men, too, of course, but… I never thought I’d say this, but I’ve seen enough of that. And besides, any striptease is boringly PG-13 compared to the positively sinful things this woman does to me.’ Lucifer shoots Chloe a look which can only count as foreplay, and this time, she does roll her eyes. She also sends him an enticing smile, her eyes burning with promises and dark, dirty secrets.
Amenadiel clears his throat.
‘Point is,’ Lucifer continues when he manages to take his eyes off Chloe, ‘try stay clear of the clichés, okay? Strippers and expensive liquor are just Tuesday for me. I want something exciting! Something like, I don’t know, fighting a UFC champion. Or a bear. Or go swimming with sharks! Always wanted to try that.’ The last comment is directed at Chloe, who raises her eyebrows and nods, probably because it’s not the first time she hears this. Lucifer looks to the three (conscious) people in the booth again. ‘Or I could give you Elon’s number. I’ve heard spring’s lovely up there!’
He grabs a napkin from the table, ‘borrows’ a pen from a guy in the middle of giving another guy his number, and actually scribbles down Elon Musk’s contact info.
‘Just be a little creative, will you?’
—is the last thing he says before he and Chloe hurriedly walk towards the elevator, hands all over each other.
Maze, Dan and Amenadiel all look at the napkin lying on the table.
‘We’ll need more than fast cars,’ Dan states.
The other two nod.

Lucifer: Season 5, Part 1 Thoughts
Part 1 of Season 5 of Lucifer came out on Netflix on August 21. And you bet your bottom dollar that I binged all 8 episodes. I stayed up until 2 am on August 22, but it was worth it. I’m not sure if the cast, crew, writers, and producers went into this season thinking it was their last (It’s not, Part 2 of Season 5 is rumored to be out in February of 2021, with the final season, Season 6, rumored to be released in early-mid 2022.) or what, but they really brought their A game for the first 8 episodes of the season.
What follows are some random thoughts I have on the season. Yes, there may be spoilers!
- I really like that the last couple of seasons have explored  the supporting cast more. Maze, Ella, Linda, Dan - they are being fleshed out a lot and I am living for it.
- Seeing more of Linda’s backstory was great. And, I liked the way it tied into Maze’s own feelings regarding Lilith and abandonment. I am here for Linda x Maze, may that be a deep friendship or something more. I always love them together.
- Speaking of Maze - it is getting repetitive to see her be pissed at Lucifer (who really needs to step up and see that she is her own demon with thoughts and feelings.) or being down on herself for not being able to make solid connections. Maze, you have connections: You have a best friend in Linda, friends in Chloe, Ella,  Amenadiel, Trixie, Charlie. These people are your found family! They love you, Maze. But, Maze has to learn to love herself. Stop betraying them because she’s upset. All that said, Lesley-Ann Brandt always brings her A-game.
- I didn’t care for Lilith. I get what she was trying to do and that, in the end, she wanted mortally and love, but even she couldn’t find it. But, she abandoned her children. :( I’m thinking her ring will play a key role down the road: either to give Maze mortally/a soul, give Eve immortally (so she and Maze can be together?), make Lucifer human, save Chloe, something! That ring is coming back into play.
-Amenadiel worrying about being a good father to baby Charlie. It was really cute, as is his friendship with Dan. The scenes with Dan, Amenadiel, Lucifer, and Jed trying to calm the baby were comedy gold. I also really loved seeing Amedadiel working a case with Chloe. He’s just grown so much as a character during the last five seasons and I’m here for it.
- Dan finding out about Lucifer was a bit of a surprise. Poor guy. He’s been lost since Charlotte’s death and all this new age stuff seems to be his way of trying to find meaning in his life. And, now he has to deal with the fact that EVERYTHING is real and his ex-wife/friend is in love with the actual Devil. And, he has this great fear that he’ll go to Hell, because of all he’s done - and knowing the Devil is real - of course that is going to mess with his mind! And, Michael - playing on fears - knew just want to do with that. I’m interested to see where Dan goes during Part 2 of the season.
-I felt so bad for Ella. She decided that she wasn’t going to go for the “bad boys” and that she was going to look for a nice, normal man for a normal romance and what does she find? A freaking serial killer! Who was using her and planning to kill her! Like, Ella, girl, take a break from dating for a while. She either dates men with no futures, serial killers, or Dan.
- I have to give it up to Tom Ellis in his portrayal of Micheal. So twisted and cowardly and yet weirdly I get it? From what the show has told us or implied - before his fall, Lucifer was one of their parents favorites, made Michael miserable, was a favorite of some of the other siblings. I can see a twin becoming jealous and causing issues. It’s interesting that Michael straight out stated he planted the idea of rebellion in Lucifer’s head. Michael planted the idea of causing Eve to sin. Of coming to Los Angeles. I’m wondering how much of it is true and how much was Michael just speaking nonsense. And, what else has Michael planted in Lucifer (or anyone else’s) head? Did he plant Chloe in God/Dad’s head? Did he pretend to be God/Dad and tell Amenadiel to bless the Decker’s with a baby? Oh, the possibilities.
-While I didn’t love episode 4 (it felt a bit like filler) - it was so good to see  Tricia Helfer, back on the show. I miss Mom and Charlotte.
-Chloe finding out she was a blessing/gift from God/Dad? I am so thrilled they didn’t get too angsty with it and played it perfectly. Yes, she had every right to be confused and upset. But, thank goodness they didn’t drag that out! The writers really hit a lot of great beats with Chloe this season.
-  I have read that some viewers were annoyed that Chloe was/is worried that Lucifer doesn’t lover her back - when he has shown his love via actions - but, I get it. Lucifer is Lucifer. He self sabotages, he refuses to deal with issues, and he tends to pull away. He become invulnerable - right after it was more or less agreed by everyone that Lucifer chooses to be vulnerable around Chloe because of his love for her. She might be thinking: “Okay, will he get bored? Is this real? Will something else happen that makes him pull away?” Chloe needs to have a solid talk with Lucifer, and it’s a talk that he may not be ready to have. As a show-runner hinted: “You can’t fully be in love with someone until you fully love yourself.” And, we all know that Lucifer is still working on loving himself.
- I was really proud of Lucifer during the first half of the season. He stayed in Hell to protect Charlie, Chloe, and the world. He only left to deal with Michael and he was smart enough to leave Amendadiel in charge. He was honest with Chloe, he tried (in his own way and to the best of his abilities) to give her space, he bonded with Dan, he got jealous (that was hilarious), he moved forward with Chloe, he tried (again in his own way and to the best of his abilities) to not freak out over losing his “mojo”, he admitted (to others and himself) that he NEEDS Chloe, he found Chloe. He showed some nice growth. He’s by no means a mature and fully realized “person” yet, but it’s clear he is trying.
- When Dad/God showed up? I had no idea Dennis Haysbert had been cast in the role, so I was so excited. He’s a great choice. I love that he came down from the Silver City to break up a fight between some of his children. His ex walking around Earth? Demons coming to Earth? A half-angel being born? Eve coming down? Cain and Lucifer fighting? Dad/God’s not bothered by that. He’s not coming down for that. But, his children fighting? Yeah, he’s physically and completely coming down to break that stuff up. I’m excited.
- So, 5A mentioned the Silver City and some of the other angels often. We learned that many of Lucifer and Amenadadiel ‘s siblings are praising Lucifer for going back to Hell to protect Earth. Something which Michael can’t stand. We also learn that Dad/God has locked himself away and that Michael is the only one he speaks to. You guys - I NEED to see some of the other angels or at least hear about them. Maybe even hints of what the Silver City looks like? Uriel may be dead, but Azrael and  Remiel are still in the Silver City. And, the show has mentioned a Castiel, who enjoys music. We’ve also heard about Gabriel and Raphael, who are apparently proud of Lucifer for being mature enough to return to Hell on his own. I’m actually wondering how many children Dad/God and Mom actually had together? So far we have nine angels/children. Did they have hundreds? Thousands? Just those nine?
- Let’s talk Deckerstar. If you are a fan of Deckerstar, as I am, then you were loving 5A. There was awkwardness, angst, cuteness, sweetness. They were flirty and playful. When they FINALLY had sex? Linda and Ella weren’t the only one celebrating. And, I loved that it really seemed that BOTH Chloe and Lucifer spent 5A trying to be honest and straight forward with one another. They seem to have realized that they’ve wasted too much time and they have to try and be honest with one another, even if it is very hard.
- Overall, I LOVED Part 1 of Season 5 and CANNOT wait for Part 2. 2021 cannot come soon enough!
-And, I’m sorry, but Lucifer gifs are lined up in my queue for days to come.

Summary: Ella is your best friends since you were children, never went apart until you encouraged her to move to LA. You guys haven't seen each other for two years until Ella tried to get in touch with you.
You somehow disappeared and was worried sick. Once you were found and better, Ella promised to make sure you never have to suffer in silence alone. Making you move in with her, and now you are gonna be working with her.
The thing is she never told her friends at work anything about you. She was waiting until you got better and moved in with her, but a rich playboy with devilish charms took the pleasure of meeting you first.
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“What do you mean you don’t know where she is!” Ella began panicking in her lab alone. She couldn’t even concentrate on her work that Decker needed.
“I’m sorry sis. Our family has been looking around the block and her home. There was no trace of anything. Her phone was left behind along with her wallet. She's gone.” Her brother sighed over the phone. His voice seemed tired and guilty. Ella can’t blame him for trying. Ella put the phone away from her ear to calm her breathing and tears.
“Okay. Thank you so much, and tell everyone that I love them. I’ll take it from here.” Ella hung up the phone and placed it on the table. She covered her face and hunched over the table with her elbows on it. She prayed that you were alive and well. Nothing scared her more than losing a long life friend that was basically her sister.
“Are you okay?” A familiar voice asked. Ella gasped and quickly put her head up, showing her teary eyes threatening to fall.
“Ray-Ray?” Ella was shocked to see her ghost friend all of the sudden. “W-What are you doing here?” Ella turned around and used her shirt to wipe away the tears that were about to shed. Ray’s face turned concerned and took a step closer to put a hand on her shoulder.
“I was gonna visit you to see how you were doing, and it looks like I came at the right time. What’s up with you?” Ray asks her and Ella looks up at her and tries to keep her composure.
“(Y/n) disappeared, or more like kidnapped. I don’t know but something isn’t right and I’m so worried about her. I knew I shouldn’t have left her behind. I’ve been gone for two years and this happens.” Ella’s voice was broken and it made the secret angel sad as well. You were also a big part of her life and it was thanks to you that Ella finally left her corrupt family. You couldn’t even see or hear her, but it’s like you agreed to her opinion on the spot. If Ella couldn’t listen to her at the time, then she would listen to you. She even thought about letting you see her so that it can be the three of you.
“Ella let’s calm down. We don’t know how she disappeared but we both know that she’s a good ass kicker. If anyone could get out of tough situations it would be her.” Ray reassured her while rubbing her arm.
“That’s not gonna stop me from worrying. Can you find her? You're a ghost and maybe you can talk to some other spirits about where she’s been or something. Please..” Ella begged and held Ray’s hand tightly. It broke her angel heart to see a cheerful human so broken. She’s gonna find you one way or another, but she knows she can’t do it alone.
“I’ll go look for her, just keep calm and try not to break down in front of everyone. When I see her I’ll come back with an update. I promise that she’s gonna be alright Ella.” Ray calmly tells her with seriousness. Ella looks up at her ‘ghost’ friend, surprised but calmed down.
“Thank you Ray-Ray.” Ella hugs Ray, surprising the angel guardian and a small smile tugs at her lips.
“No problem Els.” Ray hugs her back and smiles at her human friend.
__________________________
“Uh Els?” Ray appeared behind her with a nervous smile. Ella turned around quickly by the sound of Ray’s voice. She hasn’t seen her in six months and it was almost driving her crazy worried.
“Did you find her?!” Ella got close to her with so much hope in her eyes.
“Yea I found her and she’s alive but..” Ray fidgeted a bit and Ella’s face turned concerned. “She’s in a critical condition physically..the doctor says that she’ll be fine once she’s healed but her traumatic experience might change her mentally.” Ella puts both hands on her face and tries to hold back a sob. Ella’s reaction made Ray comfort her the best she could to see the good side of things.
“B-But! She won’t go crazy as in asylum crazy. She just won’t be as positive as she was before, and you remember how she was when she first met you. Once (Y/n) sees you again she will be back into her old self in no time.” Ray tries to give her reassurance and hope the best way she can on the spot. Ella sniffs and wipes her tears away, and composes herself.
“So who did this? And how did you get her into the hospital?” Ella’s face turned so serious that it could even make Ray’s devilish brother nervous.
“I was actually lucky to give a ‘ghost’ signal to your friend Maze. She helped out with everything and she’s even coming with one of the culprits as we speak. I honestly don’t know who did this to her. There were so many people involved..it was horrible. It’s best if (Y/n) tells you when she’s all better.” Ray explains her heartbroken friend. For the first time in six months, Ella gave a sigh of relief and a light hearted smile.
“Thank you so much Ray-Ray. I don’t know what I would do without you. You're such a good friend.” Ella hugs her again and Ray happily gives one back, finally relieved that (Y/n) is alive and hopefully gets better. Ray looks through the window and sees Lucifer with Chloe coming in closer to the lab.
“You got company, I gotta go. Bye Els!” Ray quickly disappears in front of her without giving her a chance to say goodbye.
“Well hello Miss Lopez- are you alright?” Lucifer stops in his tracks along with Chloe. Ella’s eyes were still red and the tears made a mark on her cheeks.
“Oh! Don’t worry these are happy tears. I recently solved some personal problems. What’s up?” Ella went back to her happy cheerful self while the two duo looked confused and concerned.
“W-well, we only came back to see if you found anything on the case-Are you sure you're okay? You know you can talk to me about anything.” Decker tried to take her case seriously but it became difficult if her optimistic friend suddenly had puffy eyes and tear stains.
“Come on now, who do I have to punish? Is it an ex?” Lucifer grins and Chloe rolls her eyes.
“I wish it was an ex. Guys I’m serious, I’m happy. You're so sweet to worry about me but things are actually turning around for the better. Come here, I got something for the case.” Ella reassured them with a genuine smile and went to the table. Lucifer and Decker looked at each other and back to Ella. They both know that there’s something strange that happened but they know better than to push. Even the devil himself will back off...for now.
Maze came strolling in the precinct with a smirk on her face. She dragged a guy who’s in a lot of trouble and will get her an amazing amount of cash. This guy is despicable and everyone of the detectives need to interrogate him for their cases. Yea he’s that deep into trouble. The guy keeps groaning in pain and calls for help to any of these officers. Maze pushed him onto the floor and placed her feet on top of his chest.
“Well Mazikeen, had a fun time hunting I see.” Lucifer walked away from Deckers desk towards the demon. Maze looked like a mess as well, but she didn’t care as long as the cash was good.
“This guy is one of my best work. He really kept things entertaining.” Maze smirks at the demon and ties his hands together.
“One of your best work? My, now I have to know what this man has done.” Lucifer looks intrigued at the man. There weren’t many criminals that made Maze so distraught and pleased.
“Is that Loy Huddson?” Chloe gets up to take a closer look at the man on the floor.
“Yeah, what about it?” Maze raises an eyebrow at her.
“He’s on our list for most wanted, the third one on the list. Everyone’s been looking for him everywhere. Maze how did you find him?” Chloe looks at her in bewilderment.
“I just had a hunch, a demon’s gotta keep her secrets too Decker.” Maze grins at Chloe and brings the man to his knees. “Now, how much do I get for this one?”
“You get about $500,000..” Chloe still looks shocked and Lucifer grins and applauds his demon.
“Well done Maze.” Lucifer observes as the officers take the man away and give Maze an envelope that holds the check for the money.
“Since the fun is over I’m gonna go put this baby in my card. First two rounds are on me tonight Decker.” Maze grins and walks away with the check.
“I’m not going out on a girls night out tonight!” Chloe tries to tell her from the distance.
“Great I’ll meet you there!” Maze gave a mischief grin while leaving.
“Looks you have a night off Detective.” Lucifer smiles at the workaholic woman.
“You had something to do with this.” Chloe crossed her arms in front of her chest and glared at the devil.
“Most definitely, come on now detective, we can’t keep these punishments waiting.” Lucifer starts walking out of the precinct despite Chloe’s protest the night off and lectures about the punishment.
A taxi cab stops by infront an apartment building and Ella stands there with excitement and anticipation. She’s been waiting six more months to finally see her friend. Ella has left LA for a week to see you in the hospital during the last six months but she can’t help but jump a bit knowing that you're moving in with her. She promised herself that she will be there for you no matter what, and this time you won’t suffer alone in silence. Ella squealed and ran to the taxi cab, opening the door to pull you out of it and hug you so tight.
“Whoa Ella! Jumping me already?” You laughed and hugged her back just as tightly. You were just happy to be back, even more happier that you're gonna be living with you life long friend.
“I just couldn’t wait, oh! I’m taking you with me to my job in three hours to show you how things work around there.” Ella let’s go with one arm to check her watch.
“Looks like I missed a year of work.” You chuckled and Ella lets go of you and gives you her brightest smile.
“Don’t sweat it, I had my brother mail all of your things over and I saved up some money to put in your card. You only had $300 in it.” Ella smiled proudly as if she was right on schedule. Your face softened and hugged her again.
“Oh Ella you didn’t have to put money in my card, I could’ve made my own money.” You pulled away from the hug and she handed you your wallet and phone.
“Nah, I wanted to give you a boost on your new life, if things are gonna be different I want it to be a good different.” Ella smiled and you swear you couldn’t understand how you deserved an amazing friend.
“Thank you Ella, this means a lot.” You smiled and carried the duffle bag with you while following her inside the apartment.
The apartment seemed comfortable and with the amount of money she gains, she’s really more of a simple person. Others would’ve gone crazy with it. It’s beautiful and full of life, just like her, which made you smile.
“So how do you like the crib?” Ella gestures to the whole apartment with a proud smile.
“It’s perfect Els.” You giggled and followed her to your room. You placed your duffle bag on your bed and sat on the soft and comfortable mattress.
“I’m gonna go take a shower. Wanna go cruise around for a while and get something to eat?” Ella smiled at your relaxed body gesture. Maybe Ray-Ray is right, things could go back to normal.
“Yea sure, I’m gonna take a short nap so wake me up when you're done.” You smiled at her and laid on your bed comfortably.
“Alrighty, I’ll be back for you miss.” Ella winks at you and leaves the room. She closes the door on the way out and you smile to yourself. Things will get better. You closed your eyes and went to sleep. You were so sleepy that you haven’t noticed someone knocking on the door.
“Ms.Lopez? Are you in there?” Lucifer tries to be patient but his situation is just eating him. He easily picked the lock and went inside. He looks around her new apartment and looks at the picture on the shelf. It was a picture of Ella and another woman he’s never seen before. She hasn’t mentioned anyone other than her family.
“Keeping secrets?” Lucifer puts the picture back and proceeds into the hallway. He opens the first door he sees and sees a woman asleep on the bed. The same woman in the photo.
“Well hello, I wonder what makes you more special than her family.” Lucifer steps closer to her, making sure not to wake her up. He see’s how peaceful she looks while she’s dreaming. He gets closer to her and kneels down in front of her. Observing her face and body gesture, something seems to make him drawn to her. Her head moves slightly making her hair move to each side, showing the back of her neck. There's a weird mark on it and Lucifer frowns lightly at it. Lifting his finger to gently graze behind her neck. “What is your story, darling?” He whispers gently to her as if she’s listening.
“Lucifer what are you doing?” Ella was at the doorway with her arms across her chest with a disappointed look. Lucifer quickly stands up and turns around towards Ella.
“I’ve tried knocking but this is important.” He tries to explain and turns to you then back at Ella. “But I have to say Ms. Lopez, I’ve always thought you were an open book.” Lucifer grins and Ella grabs his arm to pull him in the living room.
“Her name is (Y/n).She’s a long life friend, basically like a sister to me. I was gonna introduce you guys to her in two hours. Now, what is it that’s so important?” Ella sighed and looked at the trouble maker impatiently.
“The detective has been really snappy with me lately. Don’t get me wrong, I love her snappy side on the occasion but this seems different. You see, I’ve done nothing wrong and I was wondering if you can help me.” Lucifer smooths his suit and sits on the couch. The optimistic scientist can’t help but feel bad for her troublesome friend. The truth is that if he wasn’t interested in Chloe then he would’ve introduced you to him. Ella hasn’t been able to talk to Chloe about her problems with Lucifer.
“I can see what’s going on, but try not to break into my place again dude. I have company now and God knows she’s a hell of a fighter.” Ella grins about your reaction if Lucifer got to wake you up.
“Not again with his name.” Lucifer sighed and leaned back on the couch.
“Hey Ella, are we leaving now-” You stopped right in your tracks when you saw a guest on the couch. “Oh, I didn’t know you had company, do you need a moment.” You looked back at her and the stranger.
“No, this is actually one of the people you're gonna see at the precinct, he’s-” Ella was interrupted when Lucifer stood from the couch and walked towards you.
“Lucifer Morningstar, darling. Nice to meet you, (Y/n) correct?” Lucifer gently holds your hand and kisses it gently. You raise an eyebrow and pull your hand away.
“Yeah it is. Nice to meet you Mr.Morningstar.” You said politely, you couldn’t help but feel that this guy is trouble.
“Great! Since you both met, I wanna take (Y/n) out for lunch before I get to show her the precinct. Lucifer you should get going, I know there's a case wanting to be solved.” Ella went by your side and linked her arms with yours, dragging you to the front door.
“Nonsense, I’ll join, the detective can wait a little longer.” Lucifer smiles and tries to follow the both of you. Right when Ella was gonna open her car door, her phone rings. She sees that it was Chloe calling her and accepts it.
“Decker?” Ella was confused since her shift hasn’t started yet. Lucifer hear’s this and tries to listen in but Ella waves him off. “Oh wow, okay I’ll be there.” She hangs up the phone and sighs.
“Well? What happened?” Lucifer asked, waiting for Ella to explain.
“Chloe needs me at the lab, it’s an emergency so I have to be there straight away. Looks like there's no lunch, sorry (Y/n).” Ella gave you an apologetic look.
“It’s fi-” “I can take her.” Lucifer interrupts you and smiles at your best friend.
“I-I don’t know Lucifer, she just met you. It’s better if she comes with me.” Ella looked really hesitant about it. She didn’t want to leave you alone to someone you just met but she doesn’t want to keep you hungry.
“And have her starve? I believe you have better manners than that Ms.Lopez.” Lucifer playfully lectures her. Ella looks at you for a response and you just smiled reassuringly at her.
“I’ll be fine Ella, just focus on your work, I’ll bring you your lunch, okay?” You smiled at your friend and she smiles back at you.
“Okay, okay. Call me if there’s a problem or text me. Make sure you stay with Lucifer at all times and you better not lose sight of her.” Ella points at Lucifer in a scolding way and you tried not to laugh.
“I never lose sight of women, one of my special traits.” Lucifer puts both of his hands up.
“Alright mom we get it.” You put her hand down and hugged her close. Once you parted, Lucifer guided you into his car which surprised you. You were kinda expecting a Lamborghini with the way he looks rich. This car was actually really classy. Lucifer opens the door like a gentleman and you sit in the passenger's seat. When you got inside, Ella passed the car with hers and waved at you.
“Have fun! You know what I want. Love you!” Ella blows a kiss at you and leaves the parking lot. You laughed at her declaration through the parking lot. Lucifer gets in the driver's seat and starts the car. The engine turns on and the vibration of the car has traveled to your body, making you blush a little.
“Where would you like to go (Y/n)? Fast food I presume? I know one that’s close by.” Lucifer asks and you look at him with a genuine smile.
“Yeah, the sooner I get to Ella the less she’s gonna fuss over me.” You look back at the road and relax while feeling the wind through your hair.
“Perfect.” Lucifer grins and speeds up a little bit more. He couldn’t help but feel relaxed with you. It’s like some type of aurora you give him. He should be feeling excited to learn more about you and your private life. Looking for answers as to why Ella has hidden you for so long. Hell, even wanting to know your deepest desire. Yet all he wants to do now is relax.
‘Not even the detective can make me feel that way.’
On The List (Part One)
Prompt from @halfbloodfox:  I’m looking for something where Lucifer has to take care of Trixie. Maybe, Decker is stuck at court testifying on a case, Dan is whothefuckknowswhere, Maze is on a hunt and at school Trixie gets hurt or sick. Surprise, Lucifer gets the call. He’s on The List? Since when? During Season 2 or 3, pre 4 nonsense at least. What do you think?
This was...unexpected.  And perhaps a little unprecedented.
Just a half hour before, it had been a semi-normal day for he and the detective, dressed in their best--well, not him, but the respect for the court was there--as Chloe waited to be called to testify.  Per usual, he tagged along, a charming ace in the hole, just in case.
But then his shirt had started buzzing outside the large double doors; to be more exact, his phone was ringing.
“Lucifer,” Chloe hissed as a clerk eyed them while they passed by, “turn it off vibrate!”
Smiling winningly, he reached for his chest pocket, purring, “An honest mistake, Detective; I assure you, I know proper procedure for the courtroom.”  He glanced at the screen, eyebrow raising as a bell of familiarity rang in his head.  “Should I know this number?” he asked, turning the screen towards Chloe.
She frowned, taking the phone from him as she murmured, “That’s Trixie’s school.”
“But why--”
Holding up a hand to stop him, she answered, “Hello?  Yes, Ms. Hendersen, I’m being brought to testify today.  Uh huh.  Oh, no, did you try Dan?  Of course not.  No, no, it’s not a problem; I’ll send Lucifer to pick her up.”  She paused for a long time, a muscle ticking in her brow.  “That’s a question for him at another time, don’t you think?  Uh huh.  Yeah, goodbye.”
Tilting his head, Lucifer asked, “Was that Trixie’s lovely school administrator--”
“Don’t.  Even.  Star,” Chloe growled, handing him back his phone.  The door beside them opened just a crack and the DA motioned for her to join them.  With a nod, she didn’t spare Lucifer a glance as she moved to the doors.  “I need you to pick up Trixie; she threw up in math class.  I’ll leave here as soon as I get the okay.”  Before she squeezed in the door, she muttered quickly, “Ginger ale--she likes Canada Dry best--for her stomach, some toast or crackers to have in her system.  Make sure she takes little sips.  This should be done in a couple hours and then I’ll be home.”
“Detective--” he said in alarm, reaching towards her, but the door was already closed.  For a moment, he just stood there, wondering two things simultaneously: did Chloe really trust him with her sick offspring and why did the school call his phone?
It hardly mattered now, however, what made sense.  Sitting in his Corvette outside an elementary school, he found that he was...uncomfortable.  It wasn’t often there was a situation he found himself unable to figure out--in fact, the first hadn’t been until he’d met the detective two years before--yet here he was.  Sure, he’d learned how to occupy Trixie, but this was new territory.
How did one pick up a sick child from their school and adequately take care of them?
Taking a deep breath, he got out of his car, striding towards the doors.  How hard can it truly be? he wondered, confidence growing the closer he got to the building.  If Daniel can do it, of course I’ll be able to.
Following the signs to the “office”--a large, gray room with children’s paintings hanging everywhere, most of the space taken up by a quadruple desk with five women squished side by side at their computers--Lucifer idly took out his handkerchief, wiping his hands as he eyed several of the drawings.
Surprisingly, there were a few that showed a real talent, should they continue honing the craft.
“Hello?” one of the women greeted hesitantly to his back.  “Can I help you?”
He turned with a charming grin, noting the immediate softening of all the secretaries’ faces.  “Hello, ladies,” he answered, strolling to the desk with his hands in his pockets.  “I actually received a call from Debra--Ms. Hendersen, asking that I pick up Beatrice Decker-Espinoza.  I know I’m not her parent--”
“Oh, you’re the infamous Lucifer Morningstar!” the first woman cried, nearly tipping her chair backwards as she stood.  Holding out a hand, she added, “Trixie is through that door, in the nurse’s office.  Karen will go and grab her while you sign her out.”  She shoved a clipboard with an attached pen under his nose.  “Just her name, your name, why you’re picking her up, and the time.”
Holding the pen, he raised an eyebrow at the woman.  That was certainly easy.  Did she already know to expect a deal?  Or was this her idea of flirting?  The memory of Malcolm Graham flashed through his mind and his gaze turned foreboding.  “Is it truly that easy to just pluck a child from your facilities?” he demanded, anger burning in his belly.
“Oh, my, you’re right!  I do need your picture ID to compare your information to what we have in the system,” she answered quickly, blushing wildly.  “I’m so sorry, it’s just that Debra gave such a...thorough description of you, I completely forgot!”
He slowly reached for his wallet, pulling out his license and handing it to her.  “Why would a primary school have my information?”
“Well, after the...kidnapping,” she said slowly, peeking a quick glance at one of the other women, who dropped her head, “Ms. Decker updated the people on Trixie’s approved list.  We aren’t supposed to release her to anyone other than her parents, her grandparents, or you.  There is a Mazikeen Smith on here, too, but that’s on a call ahead basis.  But if Ms. Decker and Mr. Espinoza aren’t available, we’re to contact you first.”
Blinking in shock, he made a noncommittal noise in his throat, taking back his ID and signing out the urchin.  “I, uh, thank you for your diligence,” he murmured, spinning on his foot to stride towards the chairs lining the windowed walls.  He was allowed to just come to the school and pick up Chloe’s child whenever he felt like?  No permission, no questions, no call aheads necessary?
Chloe Decker trusted the life of her offspring in the hands of the Devil?
“Lucifer?” a small voice whined from behind him, making him turn back around.
Straightening his jacket and cuffs, he answered, “Your mother has been held up in court today, Spawn.  So she sent me with clear instructions.”  He’d already called Patrick at LUX to provide the Canada Dry and crackers.  “I’ll be taking care of you this afternoon, until she is finished.  Is that all right?”
The little girl nodded her head slowly, face pale as she reached for his hand.  When he didn’t immediately take it, tears started to fill her eyes and he panicked.
Taking her hand gingerly, he raised the other to wave at the women.  “Thank you very much for your help.”
Then they were off.
-.-
If she hadn’t felt so gross, Trixie might have giggled at the scene before her.
Lucifer had brought her back to his penthouse, explaining that it was closer to both the courthouse and school, that her mother wouldn’t be too much longer.  She’d thrown up during the elevator ride, only half-listening as he tried desperately to comfort her in the weirdest ways--“I’ll have the cleaners come straight away; you don’t have to worry about cleaning it yourself”--when he’d picked her up, rushing her through the doors to the bathroom.
He’d waited there, awkwardly patting her back until she was finished.  He’d then ushered her through to the couch, saying, “Don’t worry, urchin; I’m sure I have a bowl somewhere, or at least something similar.”
And there he’d left her, bringing them to now.  His suit jacket was gone, the sleeves of his white undershirt rolled up.  He held a fuzzy black blanket in one hand, a paint bucket in the other, holding them out to her.  “I’m sorry it took so long; I had to go into LUX’s storage to find a...vomit receptacle.”  When she didn’t take it from him, he placed it directly beside her face on the floor, gripping both edges of the blanket to lay it over her.  “I don’t know if you have a fever or not, but I’ve noticed you and your mother enjoy your ‘snuggle blankets’, as it were.  This is the softest one I could find; I hope it’s...snuggly enough for you.”
She giggled a bit, sniffling.  “Thank you, Lucifer,” she murmured.  “Can I have some ginger ale?  And something to eat?”
Nodding curtly, he turned towards the hallway that led to his mysterious kitchen.  “I have a variety of crackers, from wheat to sesame to pepper; do you have a preference in this state?” he called from the other room, the sound of cabinets closing echoing his words.
“Do you have saltines?  Or the Ritz circle ones?” she asked.
He was silent for a long time before she saw him come back around the corner.  “Well, there’s no accounting for taste,” he sighed striding back in to the room.  Brandishing a crystal plate that held at least half a box of both saltines and Ritz crackers, he set it on the coffee table.  “And Patrick will be bringing your ginger ale up; I assume a case should be adequate for just a few hours?”
Smiling, she said, “That’s actually way too much.”  He started to open his mouth, but Trixie knew better than to push the teasing with him.  “Will you turn on the TV and watch with me?  My mom usually rubs my back when I’m sick.”
After a moment, he nodded, crossing to the mantle to grab the remote.  He sat on the opposite side of the couch, pressing some buttons as a projection screen rolled out from the ceiling, a projector starting to whirl from behind them.  “Is there a particular show or movie that you prefer?”
“Can we watch Secret Life of Pets?  It’s funny and it’s on Netflix,” she added when his jaw clenched.  “It’ll help me fall asleep.”
He perked up at that.  “Is sleep good for you at this point?  At some of my...parties, you’re supposed to keep the humans awake until they have finished vomiting.”
Nodding, she answered, “As long as you help me if I wake up and have to puke again, I should be fine.”
“Then I suppose I’ll just sit here and keep watch.”
She smiled as he pulled up the movie, though she really missed her parents.  Lucifer was doing a great job, but he didn’t know what he was doing.  Her mom knew right when she needed snuggles and gave them to her without her asking.  She might be nine years old, but that didn’t mean being sick wasn’t scary.  Especially when her stomach was still roiling and her throat and mouth burned....
“Are you all right, spawn?” he asked immediately, making her realize that she had started to silently cry.  “Are you going to be sick again?”
She shook her head, but that’s when the sobs started.  “I miss my mom,” she whispered between savage breaths.  “She always strokes my hair so I can fall asleep.”
While she got control of herself, Trixie felt him leave the couch for a minute, making her feel even more alone.  He was really trying, but he didn’t know what to do, and her mom didn’t have to ask her how to take care of her, and she wasn’t left alone to cry--
Hands gently pulled her off the throw pillow she’d been using, only to deposit her head on sweatpants-clad thighs.  She tilted her head back to see Lucifer wearing a bright green T-shirt and gray sweatpants (they still had a tag on them).  “I needed to change in case you don’t make it to the bucket,” he explained easily, reaching over for the remote once again.  “Now, lay back; I’ll attempt to stroke your hair, but you may need to direct me.”
Shocked, Trixie did as he said without a word, feeling his hand gently rest on her head.
She fell asleep to the sound of the elevator dinging.
This will be getting a part two shortly because it is getting very long! That will be Deckerstar though. :)
Discord Chat: When a Demon Prince Finds His Angel
Summary: Chloe Decker enters Rachel’s bookshop in search of answers following the discovery of Tracy’s dead body. Michael asks Levi to check in on Rachel as he and Zatanna cannot get ahold of her. Levi comes to the shop fearing the worst but hoping for the best as he professes his love for his angel.
TRIGGERS: Blood, Gore, Murder, Angst
WRITTEN WITH: @dxtective, @ofleviathcns, Zatanna Zatara (mentions), Lucifer Morningstar (mentions), Michael Demiurgos (mentions )
Rachel: Had greatly enjoyed her night out with Tracy, it was nice how normal it felt hanging out with the women. Meeting another mage was completely by accident when the girl started training with Zatanna. Of course, Zee was simply attempting to pull Rae further out of her shell when she suggested for the first time they hang out, which turned into almost an every weekend thing since then. The Movie had been one they were both dying to see enough to stop by Zee's and get some snacks to smuggle into the theater. The Afterparty at a pub hadn't been planned but still greatly enjoyed as they parted ways laughing and smiling like always. By the time Rachel had gotten home, she'd been too tired to do anything but crawl into bed and rest completely forgetting the promise of texting Zatanna when she got home.  It was only when she arrived at work did she remember pulling out her dead phone, cursing slightly that's she'd been so careless as she searched her office for her charger easily plugin it in and attempting to turn it on. The screen had just started to light up and come to life when a couple customers came to her asking for various things sighing letting her phone sitting on the desk while she attending to help she didn't hear the various texts and calls coming into her phone from a very worried Zatanna.
Chloe: Chloe didn’t want to cause a scene if there wasn’t a need for it. She and her two uniformed officers entered the bookstore. No one had their weapons drawn, but all three of them were clearly at the ready. Chloe did an once over, seeing the store was open, everything looked in order. “Is there a Rachel here?” She called out.
Rachel: noticed the moment the cops and Chloe entered her shop, it was strange seeing the detective here in her domain, the women never came over here usually staying towards Zee's Shop or Lucifer's Pub.  She had been on her way to check her charging phone only to hear Chloe as for her moving forward. "I'm Rachel Roth, The owner of the bookstore can I help you?"
Chloe: A feeling of relief washed over her. Chloe had been somewhat worried based on the reactions of Michael and Zee that Rachel May have been attacked as well. “Rachel my name is Detective Decker I’m with The NYPD. Is there somewhere we can talk privately?” Chloe glanced around, hoping not to alarm any of the store patrons.
Rachel: Noticed the switch in her tone something had happened something bad, something that now required her statement in kind. "In my office will work there is a door" She replied her head moving towards her office so they could talk privately with the door shut. Her brain raced as she tried to think of what could've possibly happened to warrant a homicide detective at her door, not too much how worried she'd sounded calling out for her.
Chloe: Chloe let Rachel lead the way into the office, instructing the other officers to wait outside in order anyone (Tracy’s killer) attempted to come after Rachel.“I’m sorry to have to be the one to tell you this.” Chloe sighed, this being the worst part about her job. “Your friend Tracy was killed last night sometime after you parted ways.” She paused allowing that to sink in. “I’m so sorry for your loss.”
Rachel: Rachel could feel the shift in the auras something truly terrible had happened and it was someone she knew. When they entered her office she saw her phone had plenty of missed calls and text making her wonder just what had happened from last night to this morning.
Hearing the news seems foreign to her like she couldn’t possess what was going on by any means. Visions of Tracy laughing and cracking jokes with her just last night flashed before her eyes. She opened her mouth too many times to count before finally thinking of what to say. “How...How did she die?”
Chloe: Chloe hated this part. Watching the face of someone who loved the victim fall, and knowing that their heart just shattered into a billion pieces. She’d been doing this for several years, but that knot in her stomach still manifested every single time. “Cause of death hasn’t been officially confirmed, but unfortunately, it’s a murder investigation. You were the last known person to see her alive, so your safety is imperative. I know this is all a lot to take in, so if you’d like me to step out for a moment let me know.”
Rachel: Rachel couldn’t breathe her world was crashing yet another person close to her was dead and she failed to protect a fellow mage. Chloe was hiding something about Tracy’s murder her words felt too robotic and forced that she had to see what happened. Had to see the sights Chloe had. She felt herself crumble to the point where she moved forward carefully grabbing Chloe’s hands. “It can’t be…..please don’t go” She whispered, distracting the women from why she really grabbed her hands.
Looking through Chloe’s memories was something she was sure Zatanna would’ve scolded her for but she needed to see Tracy for herself. The scene formed before her as if she was standing in Chloe’s body, looking at the horrific crime scene, she felt everything Chloe felt in that moment building up to the dead body which looked like Zatanna. Every piece of the crime Rachel watched, the blood wings behind her, the clothes forced on her to the never fit her normal image. Everything about this scene screamed wrath and rage, Levi had promised that Michael and Lucifer had been watching him but all demons lie. This was her friend, her life ended simply because she was close to Zatanna and herself, it wasn’t scientist to know she was the expendable person when it came down to it. Levi followed her around, and Michael followed Zatanna, they were off-limits but Tracy was nothing but an innocent torn between a war of Heaven and Hell. She felt her face move from the body to Lucifer as the male took notice of the body reading exactly who’d killed her. In that moment Rachel pulled herself back from Chloe’s mind rage filled her entire being mixing with her grief over her, looking towards Chloe glad to see just concern for her reflecting in her eyes. Her eyes began to water as she let out a broken sob falling to the floor before the Detective, somewhere in the back of her mind she knew she had to control her emotions, Chloe was innocent and she didn’t deserve her rage and anguish as she continued to sob knowing that her powers were flaring out making the lights flicker inside her office and bookshop, she needed to calm down get herself under control or this building was coming down with everyone in it.
Chloe: Chloe’s heart broke for the girl. She caught Rachel as she collapsed, being fully prepared for the action- but not for the pain she swore she could feel almost physically from her. “Ok. Ok. It’s ok. I’m not going anywhere. I’m here.” She stroked Rachel’s hair. For a few moments, she swore they were connected in a way she’d never experienced before, but was certain it had to be the trauma bond. And then the lights began to flicker. Weird. Must be old wiring. “I'm sorry I can’t bring her back.” Chloe sat down on the ground next to her. “But you may be able to help us catch who did this. Tracy deserves justice, and that’s something you can give her still.”
Levi: Levi practically flew to Rachel's shop, worry coursing through him at the thought of Aamon going after her. He stormed into the shop trying to get his eyes on her "Rachel? Rachel, where are you?" Seeing the cops he felt his heart sink. No no no. Levi marched over, eyes glowing green "Where is she?" his voice, slightly demonic as part of his illusion slipped away.  The cop pointed towards a door, trembling at the sight of the prince of hell. He let go of the cop, trying to pull himself before opening the door "Rachel..."
Rachel: Rachel’s world was shattering, everything that had long since built up was coming out in front of Chloe she knew she was pushing her emotions out in waves to the women, letting her feel her physical pain and heartache at the loss of her friend. She had to gain control or she could hurt the innocent women in all of this. Tracy did deserve justice but how was Chloe going to give her that? The women still thought Demons and Angels were nothing more than stories in a book. Wrath did this to Tracy and Lucifer allowed it to happen. “I know who did this….But you’ll never believe me” She whispered letting out a choked sob when Levi busted into her office looking frantic and scared, at that moment all her anger returned tenfold looking at him her eyes glowed Red “YOU PROMISED” She growled out sending a wave of power pushing him against the wall.  Seeing Levi stand there looking worried over her only seemed to increase her anger but she still felt herself holding back, She didn’t want to hurt Chloe as she calmed down enough to return her eye color back to its normal blue.
Chloe: “You....know who did this? I promise you can trust me, Rachel. I’m more open-minded than you think, I-“Chloe was startled when someone entered and was even more surprised when she recognized who it was. “Levi? What’re you doing here?” But it became clear almost immediately that he wasn’t there to see her, Rachel apparently knew him- and became instantly furious. Chloe didn’t know what was going on, or what she just saw. Did that girl’s eyes just.....glow red? That couldn’t be right...The detective sat on the floor, silently, processing.
Levi: Levi let out a small grunt from the force of being thrown into the wall. He knew she’d be angry at him, he was angry at himself if he was honest. It’s what he deserved after trusting his brothers, he should have kept an eye on Aamon himself instead of trusting that Lucifer and Michel would do their jobs. “Hey, I know I promised you and I’m so sorry that I couldn’t keep it but I need you to take a deep breath for me ok?” His eyes darting between the girl that had captured all his attention and the detective who looked like she was having a crisis. He was trying to figure out a way to tell her that the woman didn’t understand what she was in the middle of without explicitly saying what she was in the middle of. “Zatanna and Michael sent me to make sure you’re alright. Let’s let the Detective here ask her questions and you can take it all out on me later okay?”
Rachel: found herself looking at Chloe with hurt eyes, the woman said she'd understand only when she showed her a bit of her demonic side she grew extremely quiet. Listening to Levi tell her what to do seemed to make her want to just punch the demon in the face but his advice was sound as she took a deep breath holding up a finger "You don't get to talk to me right now, My friend is dead." She said colder then she'd ever talked to him before turning her attention back to Chloe allowing her sadness to show through holding her hand out to Chloe. "The person who did this...I can't be the one to tell you, Detective Decker...." She paused for a moment her eyes going towards Levi for a moment before moving closer to the women to whisper. "Please ask Lucifer....he knows who did this and I can't have you going after this.....criminal alone....he hurt Tracy, simply because of a grudge...I can't have him hurting you too because I talked..." She pulled away wrapping her arms around herself trying to keep herself together, she couldn't crumble again. "Please Chloe...I can't have any more death...."
Chloe: Chloe wasn’t sure what she’d just seen, but it didn’t matter right now. She was looking into the eyes of a scared young girl who’d just lost someone she cared about. She hesitated, but took Rachel’s offered hands and pulled herself up. “You’re saying...Lucifer knows who did this?” She did her best not to have any emotion shown in her voice. She didn’t want Rachel to think she was discounting everything she was telling her. He had been acting strange st the scene. Like he knew more than he was saying. Who was he covering for, and why? She hated to think that he’d hide something from her, especially something so important. “I won’t let anything happen to you. I promise.” Chloe had no idea what she was dealing with, but she truly believed she could protect Rachel from anything.
Levi: Levi gave Chloe a small smile "Would you mind giving us a moment Detective? This whole thing has hit us all, my family included, fairly hard." if he could just get the detective out of the room he could make sure Rachel was alright, she could try to rip him apart if she needed to he didn't really care about that. He raised his hands in surrender "Okay, alright. You don't have to listen to me, it's fine." Levi moved his eyes back towards Chloe, brows furrowing at her words "Trust me, Detective, that is not a promise you should make lightly." if anything, Rachel would have to end up protecting Chloe.
Chloe: “Of course.” Chloe looked to Rachel to be sure it’s what she wanted as well, and with confirmation- she’ll exit to converse with her officers.
Rachel: Felt herself still shaking from the tears she was leaving unshed but the moment Chloe looked to her as if to ask if leaving her alone with Levi would be okay she gave her a soft nod. "Cou-could you call Zee too and let her know I'm okay?" She asked knowing Chloe could see to it even if she hadn't asked.  When the door finally shut her eyes turned to Levi glowing red once again as he rage returned unchecked. "You Are, all the same, You're just like every demon in my life, you used pretty words to gain my trust and you ended up LYING" She screams not bothering to control her powers as she pushed memories of her pain into him in waves. The first memory she pushed was her unfeeling mother and the monks she's lived with treating her as if she was nothing more then abomination. It fast-forwarded to their horrific deaths similar to Tracy at the hands of her own father as he taunted her for being unable to stop him.   The next memory to show was Malchior who used her heart to get what he wanted out of her and then threw her away as if she was nothing.  The Final Memory she chooses to blast Levi with was Tracy's mangled body, how it was done up to look just like Zatanna and the crushing heartbreak she'd felt all her life. " WHY WON'T YOU ALL JUST LEAVE ME ALONE!" She screamed out shattering the lights in her office collapsing to the ground sobbing.
Levi: Levi was bracing himself, he knew that as soon as the human was out of the room Rachel would let loose. She is hurt and angry, you've handled worse, you can take whatever she throws at you. The demon stood, still against the wall as he was hit with her emotions and memories, his heartbreaking for her. The amount of pain and death that she had to live through was more than anyone should have to see. But despite all the destruction she'd lived through, and the pain she was now letting him experience, it only made him respect her more. Finally, unable to stay still any longer, he moved and knelt down beside her. "Hey, I know you don't want to listen to me but I'm gonna say this anyway." Levi wrapped his arms around her "I know that my promise to you was broken, and I cannot express how sorry I am about that... how furious I am at my brother's for letting this happen. But as much as it might bite me in the ass later I'm gonna make you another promise." he took a shaky breath before continuing "I will do everything in my power to ensure this never happens again. If anyone tries to make that beautiful smile of yours go away I'll show them a pain worse than death, even if it's one of my brothers. Please, angel, let me help you. Whatever you want, I'll do it."
Rachel: The pain was too much everything was crashing together in her mind she’d once again fallen prey to another demon playing with her mind and her feelings. She couldn’t take any more tricks, she just wanted to be left alone, why couldn’t they understand that? Why didn’t Levi just leave it was what she wanted. She could feel the tears falling from her eyes unable to stop even as the other moved closer, she tensed when he put his arms around her struggling again his hold, the last thing she wanted to be his arms around her comforting her like he actually cared. “Stop Please” She replied as her struggling died away as he spoke even more sweet words, words that actually brought her comfort more then she’d ever care to admit. “I’m not an angel….I’m an abomination that never should’ve been born, how many people would still be alive if I died?” She looked at him with pain and heartache all over her face. “And why would you do that? I’m nothing to you,  You don’t care about me stop lying….I can’t take any more lies Levi” She let out another choked sob, she just wanted peace and to be left alone. “I also don’t smile so try not to set the world on fire”
Levi: Levi tightened his hold on her, refusing to let go "I can't do that angel. I told you, I won't lie to you and that's a promise I can keep." he wanted to take her pain, every single painful memory and negative emotion he wanted to take that from her so she didn't have to deal with it. One thing he did know though, was if Trigon ever managed to get out of where goose put him, well he'd put monty to shame. Seeing her look up at him, tears on her face broke his heart entirely. Gently, he reached up and wiped her tears away "You are not an abomination Rachel. You are so strong, and intelligent, and the most god damn beautiful person I've ever had the pleasure of meeting." his eyes never left hers. Levi grabbed one of her hands, placing it over his heart "Feel that? I'm not lying to you. I have not and will not lie to you. I know we don't know each other well but I can't get you out of my head, and I'm not sure what it means but I do know that I just want to be around you as much as possible... if you'll let me." he smiled softly, pulling her into him as she cried "Then I'm going to have to do everything I can to make you smile."
Rachel: Rachel felt Levi tighten his hold on her as if he couldn’t bear to let her go and face this alone. “Stop calling me Angel…” She replied sighing she wasn’t an angel she was Trigon’s daughter, the one who asset to open the gate bring only death and destruction to the people she loved. She was nothing more than a pawn in his game and he used every chance he got. She felt his hands on her face clearing away her tears so gently it made her want to cry all over again. His words made her heart beat a bit faster than normal, why would he say such things, he’d probably seen plenty of prettier women then her on this world. Before she could even say anything he grabbed her hands making her feel his heartbeat, it felt warm under her hand listening to the words made her blush, had Levi just admitted to somewhat being in love with her? She knew using her powers to invade Levi’s feelings was wrong but she had to ensure he wasn’t lying anymore. She used her empathy listening to the feelings behind his words feeling it fill her up with love she’d never felt before. The Demon actually enjoyed her company and couldn’t get her out of his head. The feelings pouring off him were so unfamiliar and strange, she felt herself gasp a bit as he pulled her close allowing her to get all her tears out. She felt urged to do something that she’d never done before something she’d long since wanted to do since spending time with him at the gala. She moved her hands from his chest up to his face pulling herself away from him staring at him for the longest time before placing a small chasted kiss on his lips. “I like you a lot to Levi….and making me smile is incredibly difficult, I doubt you up to the challenge.” She whispered looking away scared that he’d get mad at her for her actions.
Levi: Levi chuckled softly "Can't do that sweetheart." it didn't matter to him if she didn't believe him, he would keep calling her angel until she did... and even then he'd keep at it. In his eyes, that's what she was and he was gonna let her know that as much as he could. While the circumstances weren't the best, Levi was happy to have her so close to him. Dancing with her at the gala was practically perfect and he was sad when it was over. Her silence was worrying him, brows furrowed slightly as he studied her. Was it too much? It was too much. I've gone and fucked this up before it's even star- his stream of thoughts was cut off the second her lips touched his. It was over much sooner than he'd prefer, it was a simple kiss after all, but Levi couldn't stop the cheesy grin that took over his face. "Did you forget? I'm a middle child, an incredibly stubborn one at that, so I'm up to the challenge Angel." Levi pressed a kiss to the top of her head, pulling her back into him.
Rachel: Rachel scoffed where he got this nickname she’d never know but seeing how even throwing him into a wall didn’t get him to stop it nothin probably would. She took a moment to breathe in his scent something that since the Gala she’d come to relate to just him. Being around Levi stirred so many emotions that were unfamiliar to her, why the male had even invited her to the Gala or spent most of his time with her she didn’t understand it. She didn’t understand why she actually wanted to try dressing up for the gala for him. She didn’t want to think about how when the night ended she found herself wanting to find ways to keep his attention and company even though the night came to an end. They were nothing, weren’t they? Yet here she was in his arms as he braved her rage knowing that she could very well hurt him if she wanted. She felt her stomach fell when she realized what she’d just done, she’d kissed Levi….something she’d never done to anyone before, her cheeks were inflamed when she noticed his cheesy grin feeling his overwhelming feeling happiness which confused her even more.  “I’m an only child, I wouldn’t know about your middle child syndromes” she replied moving to lay her head in his neck hiding her smile and blush at the soft kiss, slowly moving her hands to hug him back calming herself down. “You promise….you didn’t know he was going to kill her? What about your feelings towards Michael? Zatanna is the closest thing I have to a mother, my liking you won’t stop me from hurting you if you even have a score to settle Levi.”
Levi: Levi shifted, pulling her nearly on his lap. All he wanted was for her to feel safe right now, and he wanted to know that she was as safe as possible. The demon kept his hold around her tight and he let his wings show themselves, stretching to wrap around and cover them both. For Levi, his wings were unassuming, muted and average in every sense of the word. But to others, they saw what had been described as the most beautiful wings they could imagine. He wondered what they would look like to her, what she thought would be beautiful. "I promise you, Angel if I had any idea that he would have done anything I wouldn't have let it happen." Levi paused for a moment, trying to figure out the best way to explain his feelings "Mickey is my brother, and as much my treatment in heaven messed with my head I don't want harm to come to my family. I have no ill will towards them or towards the magician. I quite like her actually, she managed to turn my scary big brother into a shop worker, she could probably control him with a single touch."
Rachel: allowed Levi to pull her into his lap it was something she'd never thought the male would do. She was broken yet he still tried to make her feel better, she'd lost a friend due to this connection she shared with Levi just as Zatanna shared with Michael. She felt her eyes go wide looking at the wings that encompassed them making her feel sheltered and save. Part of her knew she probably should've asked before just reaching her hand out and brush her fingers again Levi's feathers but she couldn't stop herself. "So beautiful, You kept your wings?" She questioned allowing her hand to feel its softness under her fingertips. She looked at the other while he spoke about Michael, Tracy died because of him, and his affection for Zatanna, Her family no matter what always came first, it was a hard lesson she'd learned growing up but one she learned either way. She moved her hand to gently touch the side of his cheek holding it there for a moment "Says the demon who rushed blocks and took a beating both verbally and physically yet still take the time to hold me in your arms. Are you sure you're not a little whipped too?"
Levi: Levi shuddered slightly at the feeling of her touching his wings, he wasn't used to the feeling of anyone touching them. "I did. When Michael threw me out of heaven I didn't put up a fight, and I didn't cut them off like goose did." he didn't want to get rid of his wings. Yes, they were a reminder of what had happened to him but they were also a part of him. "What do they look like? What do you see when you look at them?" he asked softly, smiling down at her gently. When her hand touched his face, he closed his eyes breathing deeply "Mickey summoned me... when I got there and saw how wrecked Zatanna was... and then they said that they couldn't get ahold of you and you were with her last." he pursed his lips, eyes full of emotion as he looked down at her "I had to make sure you were safe Angel. If that makes me whipped then so be it, as long as it's you then I don't care."
Rachel: Loved the feel of Levi's wings under her touch it was something she'd never seen before. She held no wings outside when she allowed the darkness to take the form of a Raven. "To cut them off? how horrible it must have hurt terribly they are part of you," she spoke knowing that she couldn't imagine taking such a huge part from herself. "They are beautiful, They are almost like a shining green color, not like the color of money or anything just so light green to mix with a light gray color. They are so soft to the touch like I could just stay wrapped up in them forever" She replied honestly looking at Levi as he spoke, feeling his emotions of fear when he saw Zatanna hysterically crying over the fact she couldn't reach her. Such emotion filled her making her feel so bad for allowing her phone to die the night before. She bit her lip for a moment before moving closer resting her forehead against his. "I'm sorry to have made everyone worry, my phone died....and I had to open the store." She muttered feeling herself completely relax under his protection. "Forgive me?"
Levi: Levi let out a chuckle, enjoying the feeling of her touching his wings "That's Goose for you, ever so dramatic. It was his big fuck you to daddy-dearest, I'm too tired for those sorts of dramatics. Besides, I'd miss being able to fly. Saves me so much time getting from place to place." he sighed softly, a content feeling washing over him. The prince felt bad for feeling such peace in the current situation, a girl died and here he was content to have Rachel wrapped up in his arms and wings. "They sound beautiful Angel, and as much as I'd like nothing more than to keep you wrapped up in them forever I think the detective might have a heart attack if she walks back in here." he smiled softly, hands cupping her face "We've all been upfront and honest with her about what we are, but she doesn't seem to get it. You'll need to choose your words carefully." he pressed a gentle kiss to her lips "There's nothing to forgive, as long as you're safe everything is all right."
Rachel: turned her eyes towards Levi as he spoke, she couldn't imagine the pain that would cause to cut something off like that. In truth she was always so curious about Levi, to be a fallen angel, the true embodiment of sin. "So you fly now? seems rather silly that you ran all the way here when you could've flown" She replied softly letting her hand drop from the feathers even though she desperately wanted to continue petting them. "They are beautiful, yet somehow all you, I know she doesn't.....She has to know Levi...Tracy's death shows that it's not safe in our world especially to those who are kept in the dark. I don't want Chloe hurt, I told her to go to Lucifer...He can protect her right? ensure he won't hurt her like Tracy?" She whispered before feeling his lips on hers making her heart flutter at the contact. "I'm safe I promise, I won't worry you again, though you were kind of cute storming the castle." She replied gathering some courage knowing that after this it might never return as she held his face pulling him closer for a sweet kiss that lasted longer than both of the other combined.
Levi: Levi straightened up, letting his wings stretch slightly "I half flew here, pretty sure my feet left the ground at one point. I'm also pretty sure that those beat cops are gonna have nightmares with the way I barged in here." his dark eyes studied her face, seeing how it seemed like she didn't want to stop touching his wings. He smiled fondly before reaching up, plucking one of the feathers and placing it in her hands. "Not many people get to see them, it's always interesting to know what people see when they look at them. You keep that, it's not much but maybe it will hold you over until later." Levi tucked a strand of hair behind her ear "Like I won't let anything happen to you, he won't let anything happen to her. Never thought I'd see the day when the devil fell in love but here we are. He's going to take care of this quickly, otherwise, Mike will take care of things and that's the last thing Goose needs." if word got out that Lucifer couldn't keep his own brother in order, hell could start a rebellion and none of them wanted that. "Really? Please don't make me do it again, I really didn't like that feeling, that worries that you were gone." He let his wings disappear as his hands moved to her waist, pulling her closer during the kiss "I gotta tell you, Angel, I'm gonna get spoiled real fast if you keep doing that."
Rachel: found her eyes watching the wings as they moved as Levi straightened up, they were just so cute "You didn't threaten those cops, Levi? what happened to ensure what we are doesn't come out?" She replied before looking at the feather in her hands loving the feel of it in her hands. "You didn't have to do that, but I love it, something I can use to always remember you by" She replied moving to feel the feather against his cheek blushing softly at his kindness before nodding her head. "Do demons fall in love? I don't really know much about it, My father never loved my Mother, she went crazy thinking about him....are you truly capable of love?" She questioned hoping that Lucifer did love Chloe, or even more than Levi might love her, she didn't want to end up like her mother pinning after someone who could never return the love she held. she felt herself smile softly nodding her head "I'll try my best to keep my phone charged and near me, I am truly sorry" She mumbled moving her hands to wrap around Levi's neck as the other pulled her close blushing bright red at her actions. "I've never done it before, but I wanted to try it.....try not to get too spoiled, I know I'm hardly good at it" She replied not moving from his arms just yet.
Levi: Levi winced, giving her a somewhat bashful look "Maybe just a little... I still appeared human, it was mostly the eyes." he paused for a moment "Mostly." he shrugged, offering her an innocent smile. He was glad that she liked the feather, and he had to force himself to not let his mind run wild with positive domestic fantasies. "I wanted you to be happy, I'd do it a thousand times over if you wanted. Love? I like to think I am... though I can't ever say I've been in love before." Love. A relationship. Those were never things that he concerned himself with, hell, he even teased Luci over the way he was following the Detective around like a little puppy... yet here he was doing the same thing for the woman in his lap. "I'm sure that Zatanna will appreciate that... I do too." Levi let out a content sigh, his thumbs rubbing small circles "I'm more than happy to help you practice, but as far as I'm concerned you don't need it."
Rachel:  found herself chuckling softly "Your eyes were shining green weren't they? and you probably threatened them too. You better hope you scared them enough they don't talk and throw you in jail." She teased softly moving to hold the feather close knowing how important to own such a thing like Levi's feather.  "No one outside of my family every thought about my happiness like you does, it's confusing. I knew hatred before I ever knew love, though Its more of a friend love, people don't like me the way they do Kori or my other friends...I know I care for you Levi, and when I thought you'd lied to me I wanted to rip you apart for making me care" She replied honestly in a soft voice nodding her head "She must have been so worried, I didn't mean to scare her, maybe I should go see her?" She questioned before flicking Levi's nose "Nice try Snake Charmer, You got three simply because my guard was down, you'll have to earn your next ones"  She teased before sighing softly. "Do you think Lucifer will handle...Aamon today?"
Levi: Levi grinned “Very green... my voice might have gotten a little demonic too.” he looked down “If the detective doesn’t believe my brother then she won’t believe them... they might have some nightmares though.” he gave her a bashful grin, Levi probably went a little overboard with those cops, they were just doing their jobs after all... but he was so concerned that Aamon had killed Rachel as well, who could blame him? “It blows my mind every time you say things like that... I haven’t known you for very long and I can’t see a reason for people to not love you. I’m sure your other friends are great people, but I’d pick you over them any day... even when you try and rip me apart.” He kissed her cheek gently “As long as you’ll let me tag along, I don’t think I can let you out of my sight just yet Angel... I need to make sure you’re okay.” Levi gave her a smirk “Of course, I’ll do my best to earn more... but don’t act like you don’t like it.” He teased her before tightening his grip, standing them both up “If he wants to keep Mickey from handling things he will. Most likely he’ll call a family meeting today and send Monty back to hell.”
Rachel: chuckled softly shaking her head "Impulsive, and stupid, what if they pulled a gun on you and shot out of fear, humans are stupid at best especially when scared" She replied softly looking at the male before looking down. "I've had many people hate me, gone as far as to kidnap me and try to kill me before I would release Trigon to this world. My friends were the first to ever see the good in me, the good I wanted to be. Sounds like we unearthed a devilish fetish of yours Levi," She teased moving a piece of hair behind her ear. "I have no idea what you're going on about" She bit her lip moving her arms to pull him into a deep hug when they were standing. "I want to attend, That demon took my friend from me, I want to see him punished...Please, Levi?" She asked looking him in the eye as hers began to water once again. Tracy was gone and there was nothing she could do to bring her back or apologize but this should she could do.
Levi: "Nothing would have happened, their human weapons can't hurt me. It would have just been a lot of noise. Are you worried about me Angel?" Levi smirked as he set her down on her feet, still staying close to her "Well I don't hate you, and if anyone tries to hurt you they'll have me to deal with." the demon cocked a brow "Can you blame me? You're stunning, even when you're angry." he let out a content sigh, hugging her against him. Would Goose be happy about him bringing Rachel with him? Probably not, but if she wanted to be there then he'd make it happen "Just... just stay close to me okay? I'm sure Mike will be there and he and Monty have a lot of... issues, I don't want you to get caught in the crossfire Angel."
Rachel: "So the bullets would've just bounced off your huh? hardly worried I just didn't want my bookshop destroyed I worked hard for this"  Rachel smirked but not one to give him the satisfaction of her worrying over him getting hurt for her.  "So you'll protect me huh? quite the statement to make to someone" She replied before blushing bight red shaking her head. "Your silly even for a demon." She whispered before sighing Levi wanted to protect her but she wasn't used to people wanting to. "I promise to stick close but I'm already caught in the crossfire Levi, He took away MY friend, Did you ever think if you hadn't taken a liking to me that it could be my body they found? I'm much closer to Zatanna then Tracy was, I've known her all my life yet Wrath doesn't hate you, and I'm untouchable as you've said, less someone faces your anger. Take you out of this Equation and Zee would be crying over my mangled body." She felt her eyes glow red pulling back to look at Levi. "Your family attacked mine, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let that Son of Bitch think I'm scared of him. I am the Daughter of Trigon and I can be just as cruel and evil as he can when pushed."
Levi: "No, but they wouldn't kill me. It would have been a shame to ruin this shirt though, it's a designer." Levi pouted slightly before brushing some hair out of her face, nodding at her question "Yes, you can take care of yourself but if you'll let me I'd like to take some of that burden off your shoulders."  He nodded, glad that she'd stay close to him. The last time anything like this happened there was a damned holy war and he didn't want her to get caught up in the middle of that... he didn't want to be caught up in the middle of that again, so as long as those he cared about were safe he'd keep his head low and try and get through this as quickly as he could. "I'm not sure, I haven't talked to him about you and while he probably saw us at the Gala together I think you being Trigon's daughter is what differentiated you from Tracy." Levi sighed softly. Monty wasn't an idiot and yes he was a prince of hell, but Rachel was powerful in her own right... more powerful than the most mage's out there. As much as he hated to think it, Tracy was an easier target for his brother. Levi reached up, and cupped her face in his hands "I'm well aware Angel, believe me, that son of a bitch will get off easy compared to what you could do to him."
Rachel: felt herself chuckle softly at his words, she felt a weight lifted from her heart being around Levi, how had she given him so much power over herself. To simply put her at ease when he held her hand or even drew near her. "I'm not used to people wishing to protect me outside of my family, But I'll try letting you look after me" She replied honestly knowing that letting even Dick protect her had taken a while, as people tended to die around her. "That very fact I've hated all my life stopped your brother from breaking my neck...." She replied softly as Tracy's body flashed in her mind once again, no one deserved to die this way, grudge or not Tracy hurt anyone. She knew she was going to have to bury these feelings less she lost control in front of Aamon, she wouldn't give him the satisfaction of seeing her pain. "I would rip him limb from limb, hear his screams as I tore into his flesh, healing him before he died only to start it all over again" She replied her tone cold and her eyes glowing red, Banishment was too good for Aamon, the demon better hoped they never met again.
Levi: "Angel, every time you tell me that it blows my mind but I'm gonna do everything in my power to not let you regret it." he kissed her cheek gently. Levi could tell that this was difficult for her, he had literally just been shown how people had betrayed her trust and he understood why she was so hesitant. He could see her getting worked up, feel the power and rage flowing through her which only made her more attractive in his eyes. "And I wouldn't stop you from doing it..." his eyes darted from her glowing eyes to her lips, just as he was about to move in to kiss her he felt a searing pain rip through his head. Levi winced and let out a sharp breath, moving away from her as yet another one of his brothers reached out. "I'm gonna kill my brothers, fucking hell." Levi straightened up, rubbing his temples "Three days. Whatever is going to happen is happening in three days."
Rachel: Trusting people out of her circle was hard for her, it took years to craft the family circle she had now, and there was a Demon attempting to ask for her to let him help and protect her. It was strange and weird but she trusted Levi even despite the pain she felt over Tracy's death. "I won't make it easy...I'll scream and be emotional, but I swear that's me trying" She wanted to be honest with him Loving her wasn't an easy task not after how much betrayal and pain she'd lived through. She saw something in his eyes that she'd never seen in anyone's when she reached this level of Rage, she knew her eyes were red and her power could be felt by the demon yet instead of backing away he wanted to kiss her? She felt herself smile before freaking out thinking she'd hurt him only to hear his words. "While I'm sure that would be quite the show, one that I'd love to see but I don't think Fratricide is the solution unless you're talking about Aamon" She replied moving closer to him knocking his hands away from his temples letting them glow as she rubbed his head making the pain slowly slip away. "Three Days, I'm going Levi, I'll even let you pick me up." She teased before placing a kiss on each side of his temple. "I need to see Zatanna, You can join me as I'm sure for the next three days you won't leave my side."
Christmas Mass
SUMMARY: Lucifer attends Christmas Mass with some friendly and not so friendly faces. TRIGGERS: Lucifer’s daddy issues, Zatanna’s questionable taste in men, Petty Wenches WRITTEN WITH: @ofhxllblazer, @ofwarriors, @zztophat, @hcllprnce, @divinecreaturc, @ofallenangel, @dxtective
John: He wasn't much for Christmas. Never really had a reason to celebrate and never really liked the holiday. The past few years, he's been politely forced to attend the Zatara-Graves holiday get together mostly. Some years he's come terribly close to being spelled into a painting, but he's made it through alright. Today, he found himself loitering outside the church, mug of spiked cocoa in hand, listening to the carolers sing. "Well, aren't they just angelic," he teased.
Jesse: was hardly shocked to see the trench coated male standing outside his church while the chorus sang more traditional christmas songs. The man for some odd reason had taken to dropping by alot unannounced either to talk or join him for a drink and smoke. "Oh now dont tell me you have a scrooge spirit about the holidays?" he smirked before moving to look at the male " No ba humbugs here John, only good tidings to you and you home"
Chloe wasn’t sure what she was doing there, at the church. She wasn’t particularly religious, in fact? Churches kinda made her uneasy. The older they were, the creepier they were. But here she was anyway, barely remembering making the decision to come. She stepped into the building, glancing around. It wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be, dipping her toe in the water by standing just barely past the threshold. Voices from outside distracted her, pulling her attention back out there to see what was happening. “Excuse me” she asked the men nearby, one looking like he might work there. “Do either of you happen to know when mass starts?” She couldn’t believe the words she just spoke. Out loud. To other people.
John: John chuckled as the priest approached him. "Merry tidings to you too," he teased sarcastically. "Hey, its safer here than Zatara's right now so I'll take it." His almost in-laws being in town was always a pain in the ass. Also, Zatanna had a habit of volunteering him for odd end jobs during these events which he was trying to avoid. No matter how much she tried, the man wasnt a people person. His head turned as a female voice asked about mass. "He'd be the man to ask," replied John as he gestured to Jesse. The girl looked entirely uncomfortable in this kind of setting. "This your first christmas mass?" He asked.
Jesse: "Should I take that as our first meeting left such a lasting impression, that you wish to somewhat spend the holidays with me?" He chuckled teasing the other man, in truth he hadn't really expected to see him especially during this time of year, he was plenty sure the man would be hanging out with Zatanna and her family then attempting to nose around the church. Of course the women's voice cut off his thoughts as he chuckled " yes I happen to be the new priest here" he replied before taking noticing of how uneasy she seemed to be here "The mass will start in about a half hour, I wanted to give the kids enough time to shine" he replied before holding out his hand "first time or not we'd love to have you join, everyone just calls me Jesse or Father Custer If your feeling spiritual"
Chloe was a little taken aback at how transparent she apparently was. “I uhh...” she had no idea how to respond to the disgruntled man in the trench coat. He looked to be about as much of a misfit as she was, being there. Plus? She was pretty certain she caught a whiff of something other than chocolate in that cup he was holding. She may be law enforcement, but this experience was far too awkward already to make a scene over something so trivial. “Detective Chloe Decker.” She reaches her hand out to shake that of the preacher. “I’m kinda new to all this.”
John: He snorted as the preacher teased him. "More like avoiding getting assigned to the British station at Zatanna's workshop, Father. Women's got a cruel sense of humor," he deflected. Truth was he liked being around the preacher. He was easy to talk to and not nearly as judgmental as John expected. He looks at the woman who identified herself as a detective. Well, fuck. John and the law had a long and complicated history. "What brings you here, detective? You find god?"
Jesse: he smirked a bit at the other before chuckling "Shame, I wouldn't mind taking a turn around Britain so long as I had a good guide, but I understand how women can tease you in especially cruel ways" He replied smiling before looking at the women he hadn't really excepted a detective to show up to his mass but it had been very open to the public. Though the fact that John was most definitely holding a spiked drink would do best to possibly keep the man off her radar as best as possible. "That's completely fine everyone's had a first time with religion. Some learned from their families and friends while others gained some sort of experience which turns them to hope for something higher than them. Nothing wrong with a little Faith"
Chloe was a little surprised at the question from the man who’s libation she was ignoring. “Not yet. You havnt...seen him anywhere, have you?” She stifled a laugh, wondering what had brought him here. Maybe she wasn’t such an oddball after all. “Nice go meet you....Fath- err, Jesse.” She felt a lively awkward fumbling over titles and names. “Singing among isn’t mandatory, is it?”
Adriel was excited to see a church nearby such a festive event. Although they were constructed for humans, he sometimes liked to visit them. This was a good a time as any to check in with The Almighty, especially after all that had happened as of late. He walked through the snow, seeing the group of people sitting just outside. "Oh, I suppose I've come a bit early, haven't I?" he rubbed his hands together, looking around. "Sorry, apologies, my name is Adriel..." he paused. "Adriel Fell. Are you all waiting on service to begin?"
John: He smirked as Jesse mentioned taking a turn in Britain. "Nothing stopping ya, mate. Her shop is decked out for this whole event. I think she's competing with the Lux. If you've got the time, I can show you around after the service," he offered. John looked down at his drink and then up at the detective. Double Fuck. He grinned sheepishly at her. "I haven't found Jesus, but I did find an angel," he replied as he vaguely gestured to Adriel. "I wouldn't say singing is mandatory at these events, but if you find yourself in the spirit don't let us hold you back."
Jesse: "I'm sure I could carve out enough time after the service, I made it short so everyone could be with their families since I don't have anything like that, I guess I'll leach off you" He replied shaking his head as the detective took notice of John's drink, anyone with a nose could've smelled it but lucky for them he was quite a functioning drinker. "I saw Jesus and God once, it was an experience to say the least." he turned to look at the male he'd pointed out "He's an angel really?" He asked before turning his attention back to Chloe. Nice to meet you as well Detective Chloe, My Friend here is John Constantine" He chuckled softly before shaking his head "No signing is never mandatory, and you may leave my mass anytime you wish, I never force someone to listen to my sermons especially if you find its not for you" He paused before eye the 'angel' again "Mass is set to start soon, but it seems we are growing a bit of a party here"(edited)
LUCIFER: For reasons known to literally everyone, the devil doesn't spend a lot of time in church. No amount of prayer could wash away his sins, but he sure liked to see someone try. He was on his way to the Lux when he spotted the detective with none other than John Constantine and the angel Adriel. What on earth was she doing? He didn't know, but he simply had to find out now. "Detective!" he called out, waving playfully to her as he walked up to the crowd. "Well, isn't this a sight to see. Have I missed the mass? That would be a shame. Christmas sermons are my favorite," he teased.
“An...angel...” She repeated John’s words- doubly surprised when the preacher seemed to take him seriously. “I don’t follow” was she just a walking magnet for the delusional? It’s almost as if they’d been hanging out with- “ Detective! “ She heard him before she saw him, but she didn’t need to. There was no mistaking it. Chloe shut her eyes a moment, letting out a long sigh. Of all the places for Lucifer to stumble upon her, it just had to be church. “Lucifer, do you...know these people?” It would explain a lot, honestly.
Adriel: The Angel paused, not prepared to be...spotted so easily. After all, he had been on Earth for thousands of years, and he never had someone just...say it. he cleared his throat, "I believe you're mistaken, I--" he paused, interrupted as more people began to speak. If he couldn't sense evil, he wouldn't have even noticed Lucifer coming up behind him. "Oh Good Lord--" he backed away a bit, looking at the man. He wasn't sure what to say. Demons? He could handle demons. But Lucifer? He swallowed, his heart pounding.
Gadreel: Had no idea what possessed Luci to leave his nice club but once he saw the women he immediately rolled his eyes before they landed on his beautiful angel. If it was one thing he learned was Adriel never enjoyed being in the spotlight or had he ever met Lucifer in person. Moving quickly to his side he smiled softly taking his hand "You are an angel, Mine remember" he winked at the other holding him close. "I don't think you've ever had the chance to meet Lucy, well Lucifer as he prefers to be called., Lucifer this is Adriel the one I've told you about"
Beel sensed his brother was near, frowning at the fact that the only place full of people was the church. He shrugged and made his way to the holy place, quickly sensing his favorite pair of demon and angel were there too. “You just scared the poor angel.” Said when he spotted Adriel, staying close to the principal altar and eventually sitting on the table, his hands carefully touched the gold objects he could find. “I’m hurt. None of you invited me to the reunion.”
LUCIFER: He smiles as he looks at the rage tag team before him. It’s the beginning of a terrible joke, really. An angel, a preacher, a detective, two princes of hell, and....John Constantine. Honestly, he could tolerate them all save for maybe Constantine. “I do happen to know some of these individuals, yes,” he responds to Chloe’s question. “Some more begrudgingly than others,” he says as he gives Constantine a pointed look. “Honestly, detective, this is the last place I expected to see you stalking over the holiday season. Don’t tell me there was a murder in the church and you didn’t call me?” he asks, feigning offense. His attention turns momentarily to Adriel who appears dreadfully frightened. “I seem to have that affect on people, don’t I, brother,” he grins at Beel before turning his attention back to the angel. “Any friend of Gadreel’s is a friend of mine,” he assures. “Although, he does have some questionable tastes in friends every now and again,” he sighs, again giving a pointed look over at Constantine before turning to address his brother. “To be fair, I think my invitation got lost in the mail too,” he smirks. “And you know how I just adore a good church sermon.”
John: “Bloody hell,” he muttered as he watched Lucifer and then Beelzebub approach. This church was becoming more and more crowded by the minute. There were one too many demons around and neither the detective nor the preacher really knew the extent of what they’d just gotten themselves into. He could sense that Lucifer had a soft spot for the detective, but he carried disdain for John which put just about everyone in John’s sphere in a bit of a nasty spot. “Good to see you too, Luci, Beel" he teased. "And here I thought you'd both be too busy for church sermons. Isn't there a party you should be preparing for? Or have you already decided to bow out to Zatanna?" he ribbed. He turned to Jesse, it was best to get him and the detective as far away from this as possible. "You need any help setting up in there, Father?" he asked.
Chloe: A man who hangs out at church, drinking booze. Of course Lucifer knows him. Not to mention the other characters here who seem to believe themselves to be biblical archetypes. Was this all some kind of elaborate prank? She certainly wasn’t about to put it past him. “A murder? uhhhh...no I’m here because...” she had no idea how to explain her presence at the church. “Trixie has been asking about Church lately.” i wonder what could have sparked here interest there. “ I thought I’d scope the place out and see if it’s someplace I could bring her for...whatever it is that happens here.”
Jesse: hadn't expect this much of a turn out when he'd advertised opening up the church during the Christmas Festival but either way he was quite glad at the turn out. Yet he could feel a somewhat growing tension between many of the people now surrounding them. "I somehow doubt anyone can beat Zatanna, her entire store is over the top amazing," He mused before chuckling softly at John's attempt to lead him away from the group, in truth he really did need to get ready as the Mass was quickly approaching, He moved to take the cup out of John's hand before replying "Sure I'd love the help but why you do I'm going to hang on to this Constantine" He smirked  at the male before nodding his goodbyes to everyone and making his way into Church knowing the other would follow.
Gadreel: wasn't about to let Beel insult Adriel any longer as he glared at the male pulling the angel close. "He is none of your concern Beel, nor were we talking to you" He replied before turning to look at  Lucifer before ensuring the other demons kept their distance from his angel. The man wasn't about to let them tease him like he would've so long ago. "To be fair the last time any of us were at a Church, seems to escape me, and its hardly my fault I know both Adriel and John, they are stuck here on Earth which you put into my domain"
Beel smirked at Gadreel’s words. The whole situation just kept getting funnier and more entertaining. He wondered what would  all of these weak creatures do in the presence of any other of the princes. Lucifer and him, they were different. “It’s cute when you think I care about you two, little demon.” The prince held one of the cups and filled it with wine in a second, a priest’s belonging always added a better taste. “It’s a shame that you’re leaving, we could’ve had a good time together.” Beel left that cup aside and extended his hand to the blonde woman, noticing his brother’s leaning towards her. A human that could have that effect in a being like them, should be one of a kind. “We haven’t had the pleasure to meet. My name is Beel, one of Lucifer’s brothers.”
Adriel let out a sigh of relief at the Demon's presence, a blush following immediately afterwards. "Gadreel, my dear. Let's be polite." he felt himself being pulled closer into his space, and gave a small smile. "Here, I'm alright." he looked at Lucifer when he was addressed, "I'm afraid, given the circumstances, I cannot completely believe you." He watched as Beel danced over the church, and pursed his lips. It definitely bothered him, but decided to say nothing of it. "So, what is it you both are doing up here anyways? Is there a new program where the princes of hell have family reunions? Isn't the reason you send demons to Earth is so you don't have to come here yourselves?"(edited)
Gadreel: felt himself calm at Adriel's presence and voice, Beel always knew just what to upset him and he wasn't going to let it not when he'd finally gotten the okay to be with the angel after his talk with Lucifer. "I'll try but its rather had with this  particular prince" He replied nodding his head keeping close to his angel while the conversation continued.  "I'm sure its just all the fun they'd be missing if they didn't come to New York, after all Lucifer came from Las Vegas"
LUCIFER: “Trixie’s asking about church, huh? I’m glad you’re doing your research. They say religion is a slippery slope,” he teases. “before you know it you’ll be knocking on doors asking people if they’ve heard the good words of the lord.” He frowns at Constantine and the priest. “Yes, I have seen Zatanna’s shop. A bit tacky if you ask me,” he shrugs. “If you’re looking for something a bit more fun I’d say swing by the Lux tonight, but you’ll have to come alone, Father. I’m afraid John won’t make it through the door,” he smirks as he watches them head toward the church. “Surely we can behave ourselves for one night,” he chuckles as he glances at Gadreel and then at Beel. “We wouldn’t want to get arrested,” he teases, giving Chloe a cheeky wink. “I think I’ve used up all of my friends and family discounts at the jailhouse.” He only has a vague notion of what’s set off a feud between the two and he knows it centers around the angel Adriel. “Given the circumstances that’s understandable, Adriel, but I assure you I’m not the brother you need to worry about. Your dearest Zatanna has rope Michael into this. I need not tell you what he’s like. I’m just here expanding the business I started in Los Angeles. Nothing more, nothing less.”
“I really don’t think.....”’Chloe shook her head at Lucifer’s joke about her knocking on doors, but was grateful that he’d dropped it to prod at some of the others who were gathered near them. For someone who usually had nary a kind word to say about his “Father” aka the big guy upstairs, Lucifer certainly seemed to be in good spirits today. She definitely had a lot of questions about how all these people knew each other, and how they all seemed to be on the same deranged wavelength. Her attention quickly snapped to Adriel “Sorry, did you just say princes... of hell?” She couldn’t even believe all this. “Are they serving more than tiny little cups of wine at this church?” She wasn’t hyper aware of religious customs, but if she didn’t know better she’d think they’d all been microdosing. or macro “Oh come on, Lucifer. Where’s your Holiday spirit?” She could tell this John guy got under his skin for some reason, and she wanted to find out why. “I’m sure you can make an exception on Christmas Eve?” She smirked a little at John before raising her brows at Lucifer.
John: He smirked seeing the affect the detective had on Lucifer. It appeared even the devil had a soft spot. "I think it's only fair to make an exception for Christmas. I've been on my best behavior this year," he winked at Luci. "Save me a seat, would you, Detective?" he smirked before brushing past everyone to head into the church and help Jesse. This was about to be one hell of a sermon. "So, minor complication," he replied as he caught up to the priest. "Tall, dark, and handsome over there," he said, eyeing Beelzebub. "Happens to be the embodiment of lust. He also happens to be dating my almost, sort of, once upon a time, could have been brother-in-law. And the arsehole with the whole Lucifer Morningstar schtick? He's not joking. He's the actual thing. And unfortunately, it appears they're sticking around for service tonight."
Jesse: He was quite surprised by all the people who decided to come to his little church it was nothing if not amazing of course it was quite obvious that some of them needed to talk to one another. As he walked back towards the Church most of the kids had cleared out with parents and children alike thanked him before John caught up with him. "I suppose that would be quite the Complication, that two demons wish to attend my sermon" He replied chuckling softly looking at the two male from the doorway before entering in "So you? the hot ticket demon slayer allowed your somewhat not brother in law to date a demon? and that man who had more swag then God could ever give a man is truly the devil himself?" He chuckled moving to set up his books.
John: He leaned against the door frame, arms folded across his chest. "Yeah, all this party is missing is an archangel but I think he's occupied at the moment," he chuckled. Where was the sword of God when you needed him? "I didn't allow anything. Blayze is an adult. Unfortunately, he took more after me than he did Zatanna in the department of terrible decision making. Although," he looked back over his shoulder at Beel before turning to look at Jesse again. "I can't say I blame the kid. Lust is an easy sin to give into."
Jesse: Watched the other do absolutely nothing to help him like he said he would "You mean Michael? You know he was always my favorite, Not as much as an ass his Father is" He replied moving to finish up the setup before smiling softly at the male, he cared a lot for this Blayze person even he could tell. "You three sound like quite the cute little family what ever happened there?" He questioned knowing he wouldn't get an answer back, after all the man if anything seemed pretty tight lipped about personal things. "You should know, the stories Father Marcus told me was enough to make a Nun blush, so I'm surprise he isn't feeding off you Johnny Boy" Jesse smirked looking at him
John: "To you, maybe," he laughed. "I'm sure he would have portaled me to hell by now if he didn't have to answer to a certain mage." Of course Jesse enjoyed the blond warrior. It would appear only John and the demons were annoyed by the archangel at this point. He cleared his throat and looked down at the ground. "What happened is I got  Zatanna's father killed," he replied candidly. He was sure Father Marcus told the new priest a whole hell of a lot, but the man deserved to know exactly what he was getting himself into here. "Would have been her if the old man hadn't taken her place instead. Really ruins the romance when people around you keep dying because of your own stupid mistakes."
Jesse: "To be completely fair he was quite the ass to me too but I'm rather used to such behavior" He replied softly chuckling before turning to look at the male, he hadn't expected the man to come right out and tell him by any means. Outside of what Father Marcus told him it hadn't been anything to damning really when he thought about it. He moved to come down from the podium to stand next to John. "Yet it still rips you apart, even I can tell that. as far as stupid mistakes I've made plenty in fact....it was because of me my parents got killed, " He replied not wanting the other to feel like he bared his soul for nothing. "I'm not even going to try and say God has a plan because he doesn't....he is a cruel father who takes pleasure in abandoning his children, and You still are close to Zatanna, she came to see me soon after you did...felt like a bit of a check up"
John: "That sounds like Michael's default mode," he chuckled. "If you ask me they're all a bunch of wankers." That wasn't necessarily true. John knew Michael had the ability to turn earth into a battleground for the next holy war, but the angel cared enough for God's creations to not start a war that would destroy them all. "I'm sorry to hear about your parents," he replied. "It would appear all souls worth saving have a bit of blood on their hands and guilt in their conscience." There was no saving John. While Zatara's death was a stain on his soul, Astra's damnation was a finale nail in his coffin. He could stop the Apocalypse and still the pearly gates of heaven wouldn't open their doors for him. "Please tell me you aren't about to go on that pulpit and preach god is a cruel father to a demon, an angel, two princes of hell, a very confused detective, and your entire congregation" he chuckled. "I'm afraid the Vatican frowns upon that." And it would be quite a shame to have the priest recalled over blasphemous sermons egged on by one erroneous petty dabbler. "I'm not surprised Zee stopped by," he laughed as he shook his head. "We're in a bit of trouble right now," he admitted. "Two princes of hell in one city's caused quite an uptick in the number of possessions. Lucifer's entire club is manned by a bunch of demons and the number keeps growing. We could really use a priest with the voice of God on our side."
Jesse:  Listened to the other he was sure plenty of people thought Michael was more abrasive then he should've been but Jesse had been prepare, mostly because of others he'd met.  He nodded his head at the endearment but of course it'd been years since he thought of his parents, and how much their blood had been on his hands before chuckling softly "But the better question., is why would we want to be saved, too much trouble to keep up, plus all the best people end up in hell so I hear" He teased before chuckling at the male "Of course not, that was your own personal sermon, I think a thank you would be appreciated, I don't preach for free to everyone" He joked before shrugging what didn't the Vatican frown upon, not that he truly cared, he could dodge anything they threw at him. "Well, I hardly mind offering my help to you or Her much like Marcus did, but I'll let you know I'm nothing like a traditional Priest, I actually have a background in Voodoo magic thanks to my grandma....But that's probably little use to you outside of my voice" He chuckled softly.
John: “Believe it or not being tortured by every monster I’ve ever exorcised or damned doesn’t exactly sound like a picture perfect afterlife,” he shrugged. With his luck, the demon assigned to torture him in hell would be Astra. Life (and Death) were funny like that. Cosmic retribution, he supposed. “I’m sure I’ll be in good company though,” he smirked as he gave the priest a sidelong look. “Thanks for the pep talk. The voodoo will come in useful. Demons aren’t the only thing that plagues this city.” John knew a bit of Voodoo himself going up against Papa Midnite and his crowd, but he was sure it was nowhere near as extensive as Jesse’s knowledge of the art. He got up to head back out of the church. He didn’t want to leave the detective alone with three demons and an angel. “Well, speak of the devil...” he chuckled as he saw the form of Michael in the distance. “Great.”
Michael: Being the patron Saint of the Church, Michael was comfortable under the gothic arches of the structure. He hadn’t intended to attend mass tonight, but Zatanna hadn’t scheduled him so he had more free time than he’d expected. He was surprised to see Lucifer and Beelzebub in the throng of people gathering for mass. “Well, I wouldn’t say this is exactly your scene,” he replied as he approached the brothers. “Are you looking for God or are you here just for a laugh?”
ZATANNA: The shop is in good hands for the night. She’d hired people from all over the world for this week of fun and excitement to make the environment feel authentic. So, she’s given herself a day off to experience the fun for herself. Churches aren’t exactly her style, but she figures she’d come to support the new priest. They desperately needed allies and he seemed kind. Zatanna smiles as she spots Michael in the crowd. The towering Hercules is hard to miss. Her smile quickly fades as she watches him approach Lucifer and Beelzebub. What the hell are they doing here? The mage makes her way over to the crowd and her concern grows ten times more as she makes out the figures of Adriel and Gadreel beside them. She looks up toward the church and hopes that the priest is prepared to handle a crowd like this. “Adriel, Michael,” she smiles as she embraced the angels. “Not surprised to see you two here, but I am surprised to see these three,” she said as she eyed Lucifer, Beel, and Gadreel.
LUCIFER: “Oh, Father bless us,” he curses under his breathe as he watches Michael and then Zatanna approach. “If they are serving little cups of wine I’m going to need about twenty,” he sighs as he looks over at the detective. He frowns deeply as she defends Constantine's right to drink at the Lux. "I think he's had enough already, don't you?" he asks. "Honestly, if you arrest him tonight I'd consider that a very Merry Christmas, indeed," he winks. Nothing would bring him more joy at this point than watching the detective escort Constantine into the back of her squad car. He turns to look at his brother and the mage, rolling his eyes as she hugs the angels. "Why not both, brother?" he grins. "Who doesn't like to start the new year off with a bit of blasphemy?"
Beel could easily ignore whatever happened in front of him, whenever he wanted. Not that he cared about Michael being his normal uptight self or a priest trying to save his soul by spitting the word of ‘god’. Though seeing one Zatanna Zatara there, made him come back to the present. He loved her presence. “I’m so glad you join us, Zatara. I was bored with all this hypocrisy.” He half smiled and walked towards the banks, wanting to be in the front for the mass. “I miss my beloved dad. It’s been a while since our last face to face time, I would like to apologize for such inconvenience back then.” A successful war the he started after his fall. It was so long ago, he deserved a damn award for minding his own business for so long. “I know he holds no grudges, no space for such pettiness in heaven. So, I guess Lucifer and I are welcomed to stay. Aren’t we, Mike?”
Jesse: "Maybe not, but than again you shouldn't act like your the only one who has that waiting for them when they get down there, I've got plenty in my past they could used to break me down hour after hour" He replied softly, all this talk of Hell and uncertainly reminded him of his Grandmother's deal, what if the devil did come to collect when he passed? "I'm glad I could be made useful, I think I shall enjoy teaching you John" He felt himself smile at the fact that not only did Michael show up but Zatanna did as well. The women and male were quite the pair when they arrived when all the demons seemed to have choose this to be their hang out  Honestly the priest felt like he hardly deserved such a turn out as he watched John leave his side he moved back up to the pulpit to start preparing for a bigger mass then he thought.
John: “I’m not here to throw myself a pity party, Jess,” he replied. “I did what I did and I’ll pay the price. The goal for now is to just avoid an early death. No sense in paying the price tonight if I don’t have to,” he chuckled. He’d already avoided an early grave once and it left him on Lucifer’s bad side. “You think teaching me will be fun?” he smirked. “Those are words you’ll likely regret. What do you need me to do to help you set up?” he asked. “Better to get this over with before Zee and Michael start a war on your doorstep.”
Michael: A look of worry crossed his face as Zatanna appeared from the crowd. He hadn’t expected to see the magician tonight. His arms wrapped around her small frame as she greeted him and Adriel. “Zatanna,” he chuckled before letting her go. Her greeting toward the demons was not nearly as welcoming. “Surely there are better ways for you to start off the new year than at church, Lucifer?” he asked as he eyed the princes.”I’ll be sure to pass your apologies up to heaven, Beelzebub. It might be accepted more easily if you sent a fruit cake with it,” he teased. “But you’re more than welcome here tonight. Maybe you’ll learn a thing or two.”
ZATANNA: Her brows furrow as Beel greets her. He’s in rather jovial spirits given the company he’s surrounded by, then again she knows the demon thrives around chaos and mischief. “Hmm, I wish I could say the same, Beelzebub. I figured you’d be with Blayze tonight. And you, Lucifer,” she looks the devil in the eye. “I’m looking forward to this party at the Lux later. I certainly hope it’s everything that you’ve been hyping it up to be. Would hate to disappoint another plane of existence,” she smiles sweetly before glancing back up at Michael. She knows it’ll take more than a sarcastic apology and a fruit cake to save his fallen brothers. “I recall an old phrase in show business that goes something like you can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but you’re right. They might learn a thing or two if they stick around. I’m sure Jesse would love the support.”
LUCIFER: “Honestly, I can’t think of a better way to spend tonight than with family. That’s what this holiday is about, isn’t it, brother?” he asks the archangel before turning to address the annoying mage. “Oh, are you now, darling? I’m glad you got the invitation. Here I thought your biggest fear was having a good time,” he teases. He turns to look at Beel, grinning as he spoke, “Have you invited Blayze? I dare say he’d enjoy himself. Might help Ms. Zatara here unbunch her tights a bit,” he smirks before looking at his elder brother. “Then again, I’m sure a menage a tois with an archangel can assist in that too,” he winks. Clearly both the mage and his brother needed to get laid. Lucifer was only doing his brotherly duty in assisting matters here. “You’d be surprised what kind of tricks this old dog can learn,” he replies, clasping Michael on the shoulder.
Chloe tried to hide her amusement at Lucifer’s ruffled attitude towards Constantine. “Had enough? What ever do you mean?” She feigned ignorance, obvious enough to notice easily.
“ Lucifer! “ She barked under her breath when he mentioned the lovely dark haired woman’s tights. “I don’t think we’ve met, I’m Detective Chloe Decker. Lucifer’s my....” She was going to say “partner” but after that comment she wasn’t as quick to claim him. “We work together.” She offered her hand to Zatanna.
Jesse: "never said your were just stating the fact that there are plenty people going to hell who may not 100% deserve it " he replied moving to open his bible before nodding his head "I agree completely with that statement, lines get blurred more offten then not, but I'll do my best to ensure they dont take you tonight after all your my guest" he teased before laughing " I'll likely regret it huh? There is plenty in my life that I regret I doubt you'll ever been one of them, as for help I'm afraid I'm going to send you into the lion's den, will you be a darling little alter boy and tell everyone mass is starting?" He smirked winking at John before moving to hand sheet music to the organist. "And john dont antagonized them, can't very well kickass then preach about love and understanding"
John: "Believe me when I say I deserve it," he chuckled humorlessly. "Feel bad for the bastards who don't. They deserve our thoughts and prayers just a bit more, I'd say. Not that God's listening anyway." John laughed when the good preacher said he'd keep him safe tonight. "Oh it's not me you gotta worry about causing a storm in these parts. I won't make your job harder than it already is. Can't make the same promise for my ex and the archangel though," he shrugged. He long ago learned that there are unmovable forces out there and Zatanna and Michael happened to be those types of forces. "You're really sending me out there?" He asked as her jerked his thumb toward the crowd. "And here I thought we were friends." He got up nevertheless and made his way to the door. "Well, if I dont make it back it's been good knowing you," he teased dramatically.
Michael: "Actually, I believe this one is meant to celebrate the birth of Christ, but sure family works too," he replied wearily. He knew what Lucifer was trying to do. It was the same thing his brother was always trying to do. Antagonize. Michael was used to being the center focus of Lucifer's misplaced anger but he hadn't expected his brother to turn on the mage with such ferocity. "Thank you for that advice, Brother," he replied, eyes flaring momentarily as he removed Lucifer's hand from his shoulder. He could feel Zatanna seething beside him. "It would be wise for you to leave Ms. Zatara's tights alone. I'm afraid they probably cost more than that suit of yours," he teased. "Besides you wouldn't want to embarrass your friend here any further," he replied before extending his hand to the pretty blonde who seemed to have the misfortune of dealing with Lucifer on a more daily basis. "I'm Michael. Another brother of Lucifer's."
ZATANNA: Her eyes narrow into slits as Lucifer insinuates that Michael should unbunch her tights. She feels her fingers tingle as magic builds up in her palms and makes its way down to the tips of her hands. She's only a millimeter away from unleashing chaos when Michael chimes in that her tights are probably more expensive than his suit. Zatanna snorts loudly and releases the tension in her shoulders, allowing the magic to fizzle out. "You're right that would be wise. If he can't afford to have me perform at his club, he certainly can't afford my fishnets," she teases before turning her attention to the detective. "It's good to meet you, Detective Decker," she replies as she shakes the woman's hand. Anyone who has the strength to deal with Lucifer daily is worth knowing. "I'm Zatanna," she grins, mischief in her eyes as she looks at Lucifer then back at the detective. "He works with you?" she asks, a bit surprised. She fully expected that if NYPD was ever involved with Lucifer it would be to escort him to lock up for a few days, not to work with him. "I'm sure that's got to be interesting."
LUCIFER: He smirks knowing he's hit one of the magician's buttons. He can feel the electric woosh of magic filling the air and for a second he sees her finger tips light up. Beel was right. It was fun to wind her up a bit. He opens his mouth to poke the bear just a little more when his brother comments that her tights are worth more than his suit. "Doubt it," Lucifer replies incredulously. "She's allowed Constantine to unbunch them. How expensive can they possibly be in that case?" he teases. The fact that she enjoys the company of that charlatan, but can't stand Lucifer or Beel baffles the devil himself. Why anyone would enjoy the company of John Constantine baffles Lucifer, to be honest. "And speak of the devil," he grins as he sees Constantine emerging through the door of the church. "You and I both know the offer I made you was a generous one, Zatanna," he smiles coldly at her when she says he can't afford to have her perform at his club. He'd asked the mage when the club first opened, figuring it would be an olive branch of sorts. Even offered to bring forth her father as a gesture of kindness, but she'd refused him on principle alone and summoned Michael to help her maintain the balance or whatever they were telling themselves these days. He frowns as he watches Michael and Zatanna introduce themselves to Chloe, getting chummy with her on purpose to peeve him. "No, I can't say it's ever dull. I don't think I'll be leaving New York anytime soon. I quite like it here."
Jesse: Looked at the male, hiding pain with humor it was something Cassidy did a lot too. "I don't think prayers and thoughts will do much for the poor sods, but I promise to keep you in prayers regardless what you say" He replied smiling softly rolling his eyes "You know if a storm starts i full expect to see that dark arts to come out and protect little old me" He smirked before nodding his head "You wanted to help and since you didn't actually help you get the crap job" He chuckled as the organist started playing he shook his head "Always a pleasure John"
Chloe hasn’t noticed Zatanna’s magic forming, but even if she had- the whole “professional magician” thing would have explained it just fine. She had a knack for rationalizing everything, hence why she still believed the whole “Devil” schtick was just a metaphor for whatever family drama had created...this whole mess between Lucifer and his siblings. “He’s actually pretty useful.” She smiled at Lucifer, but continued, turning back to Zatanna- “When he’s not....distracted.” She refrained from going into detail about what those distractions usually were, but had a feeling present company knew all about it. “Definitely never a dull moment. Aren’t you the magician from the billboards around town?”
John: "As Michael would say, you're wasting breath praying for a hopeless old cause like me," he chuckled. The angel was a right prick when the mood struck him. "Something tells me if the storm breaks out you're more than capable of protecting yourself and these people. Let's not test that theory tonight though," he replied as he readied himself to go out there and corral the crowd. "Hey, I helped. I gave you fair warning about the crowd tonight. Could've just let you go in there blind to that knowledge," he teased, but nevertheless he opened the doors to the church. "Time will tell which one of us got the crap job tonight. Good luck, Father," he winked before exiting the church. He could see Lucifer and Zatanna in the distance exchanging heated glares. For a moment, he saw her fingertips fill with magic before they dimmed once more at Michael's touch. "Alright then, love," he called out to her. "Mass is about to start. Santa's watching you lot. Let's not disappoint him," he replied as he motioned them to move into the church with the rest of the crowd.
Michael: Michael felt the distinct electric buzz of magic in the air as Zatanna fumed beside him. The angel lightly took the mages hand and absorbed some of the magic within himself. In time, she would learn to brush off Lucifer's antagonistic attempts to rile her up, but in the moment he could see they were having an affect on her.  He looked up toward the church as Lucifer pointed out John in the crowd. "If we want to talk bad relationships, why not talk about Eve?" he asked his brother. "How is your ex these days?" he wondered out loud, twisting the knife just a little bit more. He knew about the deal which the devil had presented to the magician and he knew how hard it had been for her to turn it down, but she'd made the right call. "I'm glad you're staying in the city for more than just mass, brother. It's been too long since we last spoke," he smiled jovially before making a sweeping gesture for Zatanna and the detective to go on in front of him to the doors of the church.
ZATANNA: Leave it to the devil to lay some low blows. It’s nothing she hasn’t heard before and yet it still gets to her. Why does the devil think he’s better than the con artist anyway? “Trust me when I say loving John was anything but cheap,” she fires back. She feels Michael’s hand cup hers and take in some of her storm. She can’t help the chuckle that escapes her lips when he brings up the devil’s ex. It’s clear he’s well versed in knocking Lucifer down a peg or two. “Eve? Now, there’s a story I’d like to hear. I’m sure the bible left out a thing or two worth mentioning,” she laughs before turning to the detective. “How you manage to keep him on task is beyond me. You might be a little magic yourself,” she grins. “The billboards are mine and so is the show. If you’re staying in town, I’d love to see you in the audience. The New Years Eve show is one of my favorites,” she replies as she manifests a pair of VIP tickets out of thin air to give to the detective. “And the after party isn’t too bad either.” Hopefully they hadn’t scared the poor girl away after this display of bravado between the brothers. She lets go of the angel and takes a step toward the church. “We wouldn’t want to disappoint Santa now. Let’s find some decent seats.”
LUCIFER: He sees his brother take the mage’s hand to calm her. Michael might be an unmovable mountain, but it’s clear Zatanna is not nearly the solid force she pretends to be. Had she been alone he’s sure his teasing would have caused sparks to fly. Lucifer’s smile drops as his brother brings up Eve. Low blows for someone so high and mighty. “The bible leaves out quite a lot of details. That’s unfortunately a story for another time,” he replies coolly. He watches Zatanna manifest tickets to her show out of thin air. Magicians, he rolls his eyes. Gaudy and showy as usual. “The detective will be busy that day,” he replies as he takes the tickets from Zatanna. “The lux is having its own party. More than disco balls will be dropping that night, I assure you,” he grin mischievously. If there’s one thing he knows it’s how to plan a party. “After you, Detective,” he grins as he motions for her to head toward the church. “Let’s see if we can get saved tonight.”
So @lucks-eterna made this thing.
I had a lot of feelings. So have some post 3x21 angst.  Just. Angst.
Devil Undone Rated T Word Count: 1,490 Pairing: Lucifer Morningstar/Chloe Decker (one sided)
He didn't go to Las Vegas. Despite everything, he couldn’t do that to her. Still, he couldn’t stay. While Lucifer knew he would never be able to make himself actually leave her, he definitely needed…a moment. Humans took vacations all the time. He made two calls and two stops before driving north with no intention of stopping until forced to, perhaps by a lack of further road.
The first call was to the precinct, so that a message would be delivered to the Detective when she came into work. He told the receptionist he would be back soon, but ended the call without getting into specifics.
The second call was to arrange the purchase of a large amount of drugs. Even with his celestial metabolism he had no intention of being sober for a moment. He wanted to forget this pain. Once he ran out of drugs, maybe that would be when he came back.
Lucifer’s chest hurt like phantom pains of Michaels sword running through him.
It was agony.
The first stop was to Linda’s office. She wasn’t there - he knew she wouldn’t be. For her he left a note and two bottles of wine. Wine, as an apology for not calling her or texting her, for he knew that’s what she would want of him. Unfortunately, for once in Lucifer’s long life, he could barely speak. It hurt too much.
The second stop, of course, was to pick up the drugs.
The stretch of highway cutting through Los Padres National Forest gave him a view of his stars that he hadn’t been prepared for. Looking at them through wide wet eyes, he screamed at the top of his lungs. The rage was short lived, and the effort broke him.
“What do You WANT?!” he shouted upwards, wanting his Father to hear him and for once answer.
The stars pulsated and moved, but that wasn’t an answer. That was just acid. He snorted, gripping the steering wheel tighter.
“You know, I meant it! REMEMBER OUR DEAL?! I said I’d be the son You always wanted me to be, and You’ve still NOT TOLD ME WHAT THAT IS!” he kept yelling over the noise of the wind, though he found he couldn’t bear to look at the sky any longer. Lucifer found that it just seemed to drive the metaphorical sword even deeper.
“I did my best with Mum, You know! It’s You who isn’t holding up your end of the deal! You were supposed to PROTECT her! Now she’s chosen Cain?! I suppose she could have only chose more dangerously by picking me,” and then his sobs turned into laughter.
The road stretched ahead of him in the dark, and he kept driving.
By sunrise he was filling up his tank at a gas station outside of Redding. His phone had been ringing a moment ago - Lucifer had turned it off without looking at who had called. It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered.
Why had things ever mattered?
These were the kinds of questions he didn’t want to think on. Meant it was time to take some more drugs. There was a chance he wouldn’t have enough to make it to Canada. Then again, he could always find more. Lucifer had always been excellent at acquiring illicit substances.
“Look at what it’s bloody come to,” he seethed, making a harsh turn out of the parking lot and back onto the highway, “the Devil not even strong enough to face himself.”
Lucifer reached into the glovebox and took the first thing his hand landed on - ecstasy. That should pick up his spirits. He took the pills with a swig from his flask.
Lines on the road blurred as he pushed down the gas pedal. He just dared a traffic cop to pull him over, craving the conflict. For some human to try to impose their pointless laws onto him. As if imposing their emotions wasn’t enough.
“Is this my new punishment?!” his flung words at the wind, knowing his Father wasn’t listening. Getting no reply.
The drugs started kicking in as he drove into another national forest.
Somewhere in Oregon is all Lucifer would be able to answer if asked where he was at this moment. Somewhere in Oregon where he could not get decent whiskey, now that he had finished off the many bottles he had thrown into the trunk before leaving Lux. It hadn’t even been 24 hours.
Forgetting was a task much more difficult than he had originally thought.
“Suppose this will have to do,” he mumbled to the check out clerk at the liquor store as she looked him up and down. Lucifer knew that look.
Her hair was too dark. Her smile wasn’t right.
When he got back into his car the twilight sky left him enough light to snort something on his dashboard. He no longer knew what. Couldn’t be bothered to pay attention. It didn’t matter. Nothing mattered.
As he drove onwards, not bothering to take his sunglasses off even when the night became black. For some reason, it all still hurt. Maybe it would never stop.
He hadn’t meant to stop, but there he was. The bar had decent whiskey and he had no idea what state he was in anymore. Lucifer had no idea why he was playing the piano, or who had been playing it before he sat down. All he knew was that the fact he was wondering meant the drugs must be wearing off again.
His rendition of ‘That’s All’ went from upbeat to viciously melancholy.
Perhaps if he was in the Detective’s presence his feeling in his chest would have literally killed him by this point. There was no way a mere mortal could withstand this sort of pain, even if it wasn’t physical.
“You know,” he told a waitress as he passed her, heading toward the exit, “it’s all my fault really. I never told her. Never showed her who I really am, never let her know how I truly felt about her. Then it was too late.”
He didn’t give the girl time to reply. Didn’t know why he told her all that to begin with. Of course it was true, but she didn’t need to know.
It was a purposeful decision, finishing up the last of his drugs - an amount that would have lasted him at least another day. Lucifer wanted to be unconscious. It was his final idea for escaping this feeling. Unconsciousness, however it happened.
He regained consciousness alone, in the front seat of his mangled Corvette. For the first time since he left LA, he was sober.
“Well at least I have the Devil’s luck,” he sighed to himself, finding his phone undamaged and still plenty charged after being off. He ignored all of his notifications, just arranged a tow and an Uber. Apparently he was quite close to Seattle.
Unable to ignore his call history, he cringed. The Detective had rung many times, as had Linda. He lit a cigarette before hitting call back.
“Lucifer?!” his therapist answered immediately.
“Hello, doctor,” he tried to smile but found he couldn’t. Lucifer took a long drag in defeat. This call was the inevitable end to his ill-thought attempt at distraction.
“Where are you? I’ve been trying to get ahold of you for days! Everyone has been worried!”
“Oh, I’m sure that’s not true. It’s not as though it’s the first time I’ve disappeared, after all. Not as though my presence is particularly needed in Los Angeles. Plus I even informed everyone of my absence this time,” he scoffed, not about to fall into that trap. The trap of thinking that maybe the Detective cared that he had been gone, that she had missed him.
“Where are you?”
“Ah yes, I was hoping you might help me with that…I’ll be in Seattle shortly. I was wondering if you might…help me to get home.”
Lucifer was not unaware of how he looked in his destroyed suit, unkempt from days without shower or sleep. Not that that would really stop him if he wanted to remain alone. The thing was…he no longer wanted the silence. His own mind left to itself was waging a civil war. It didn’t matter which side won.
“I’ll be there as soon as I can. We are going to talk on the way back, Lucifer,” she scolded him, and he knew he deserved it.
“Yes, I know,” he sighed. He arranged for Linda to fly up and planned to text her further information once she landed. When he hung up Lucifer put his phone on silent and tossed his forgotten cigarette onto the ground before wiping the trail of ash of his hand.
He missed noticing the small pains that meant the Detective was close by.
“I love her, you know,” he whispered into the wind, knowing still that his Father wouldn’t answer and wasn’t listening.
Powerful Magic and Maybe Some Dutch Courage
or, the crossover fic that @anne-shirley-blythe asked for, where Teen Wolf, Pride and Prejudice, Lucifer, Once Upon A Time and Gilmore Girls all crash together into a little ridiculous milkshake of drama.
*****
The new Storybrooke curse was, uhhhh, confusing, to say the least.
Not only had the entire kingdom come hurtling through, but so had a bunch of parallel worlds. There was the one with the hot, sweaty werewolves, the one with the quick talking mother-daughter duo and the angry diner man, the one with the handsome Devil and his detective friends, and the one that seemed to have stepped right out of 19th century England.
Emma had been managing it for the most part, and now that everyone understood what was going on, a lot of them had started mingling a lot more. Which was nice.
In theory.
In practice, it meant that Lucifer was currently hitting on Elizabeth Bennet in Granny’s Diner, while Granny argued with Luke Danes over the best way to make waffles, while Mr Darcy sat in a booth and glared at the coffee in front of him like he wished it’d catch fire and engulf the place.
Stiles and Detective Decker slid into the booth across from him, and Captain Hook sidled in beside him.
“Come on mate, it’s not all that bad.”
Darcy scrunched up his nose in distaste. “It could do with some sugar.”
“We know you’re not angry at the coffee. You haven’t even looked at them for twenty minutes.” Chloe said, raising an eyebrow.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” He said, haughty, hoping they’d leave.
“Whatever man, but take it from me, she likes you.” Stiles said.
Darcy slumped a little. “You have no knowledge of our history, sir. She most certainly does not.”
He risked a glance at the counter, only to see Lucifer kissing Elizabeth’s hand. His own tightened around the handle of his cup, and Hook seemed to be having a silent conversation with the other two.
Darcy sighed down towards his lap, before he looked up at Chloe, gaining her attention. “Madam Detective, it doesn’t bother you, that the man you love is engaging the company of other women?”
“Honestly, I’m lucky he hasn’t hit on you yet, I’d never be able to drag him away. It’s kind of a blessing that most of the people here are coupled up already; this is like heaven to him.”
“Ironic.” Hook snorted.
It was in that very moment that Lucifer came over, leaning against the back of the chair behind Hook. He smiled adoringly over at Chloe. “Having fun, Detective?”
“Not as much fun as you.” She said archly.
He cut his gaze back to Elizabeth. “You mean the Bennet girl? She’s a lot of fun. If I had to wager a guess, though, I’d say I’m not her type.”
“I thought you were everybody’s type?” Stiles said, a little too quickly, and flushed when Lucifer turned his grin onto him.
“I am, but not when a person is already in love with somebody else. You, for example, are far too infatuated with Miss Martin to even think about spending a night with me. As is the Captain here with his beloved Swan. I won’t even bother to try my charms on you Mr Darcy, I am well aware that all you care about is the girl with the fine eyes.”
“But...” Darcy frowned over at him.
Lucifer only smirked. “Give it some time, the penny’ll drop eventually.”
“One day soon, I will become accustomed to the expressions and manners of this strange place.” He lamented.
Hook clapped him on the shoulder. “Wait until you discover the internet.”
Friends, Family, and Other Bad Gifts
AO3 link
Synopsis: Penelope Decker runs into Maze while trying to buy some last minute gifts for Chloe. An embarrassing gift competition quickly turns into a Christmas Chloe will never forget.
Rating: T
Notes: Hello, here's my on-time holiday fic starring Maze and Penelope! This was based off of the prompt "Penny doesn't do internet holiday shopping 'cause she's all old school MallRat. Maze doesn't do internet holiday shopping because why miss out on humans to torture in person? They unexpectedly run into each other at [place of choice] and try to out-do each other on a gifts that will embarrass the ever-lovin'-crap outta Chloe."
My place of choice ended up being Victoria's Secret because it gave me an excuse to do some "research" (aka: some shopping of my own).
This is a very silly and nondescript fic. I've been struggling to write anything as of late so this is progress for me. It's coming to you guys unbetaed, because I wrote it yesterday and it's the holiday so my beta needs a break :)
Merry Christmas everyone!
Penelope Decker wasn’t a normal washed-up actress. She didn't hide away in her Hills mansion, or have a doting husband to pour her a dinnertime brandy, and she definitely did not buy her Christmas gifts online.
O ne, she didn’t have a Hills mansion (it was a beach house , thank you very much) and two, she didn’t even have a husband to dote on her. And even if John had never been shot, Penelope would still have found herself in the middle of a throng of last-minute holiday shoppers, picking over what was left of the Victoria’s Secret Black Friday “sale”.
As much as her old film buddies mocked her for still physically going to the mall to shop, Penelope couldn’t completely sell herself on Amazon’s two-day shipping. She loved the drama that the mall offered far too much, and it got her out in the fresh air, which was more than what Karen and her “vitamin D-deficient” skin could say.
She sighed, this was her last store and her last hope. If she couldn't find something here, Chloe was getting cash for the third year in a row.
Penelope eased through the crowd, lazily finishing off the rest of her custom Starbucks tea, and found herself at the edge of the mass of people that made up the checkout line.
The Christmas music being piped through the store had nothing on the seemingly hundreds of chattering middle-aged women and their companions.
“Hey, Decker!” a rough voice shouted above the rest.
LA, despite crawling with celebrities, usually had an unspoken rule about privacy. Penelope hadn’t been cornered while holiday shopping in seven years. She shared a pleased grin with herself, at least people could still recognize her two decades later Karen.
“Decker! Momma Decker!”
Not a fan, she mentally corrected. There was only one person who called her that and she was certain that this was not him. Instead, the voice belonged to a dark-haired woman who bore a scary resemblance to the kinky mannequin next to her. She shoved herself through the hordes of holiday shoppers, strappy leather clothing and menacing boots cutting an easy path from her to Penelope.
As the woman stalked closer, Penelope desperately scrambled to figure out her connection to Lucifer. She concluded that the mystery woman must know him, ‘Momma Decker’ was Lucifer’s personal nickname. And if she had come up in their discussion, the woman must know Chloe as well.
Penelope blinked a few times, still trying to piece together her thoughts, when it finally clicked.
Awhile back, Chloe had called to tell her about a new apartment. She had briefly mentioned her “unique” roommate. This had to be her. Damn, what was her name-- Chloe had said she was a bounty hunter, hadn't she? Penelope racked her brain. Max...no...Michelle…
“Maze!”
Maze gave her a wave, elbowing the last person that stood in between them. “Hey Decker what are you doing out here?”
Penelope chuckled, Chloe hadn’t been wrong when she described Maze as “unique”.
“I’m finishing my Christmas shopping, how about you?”
Maze flashed her a serrated smile “I finished my shopping weeks ago, I’m here here to watch humans torture themselves trying to finish theirs.” She gazed briefly out at the roaring mass of purse-holding husbands and legging-clad college girls to make her point, before returning her attention back to Penelope. “Chloe only wears boring granny-panties so who are you shopping for?”
“Chloe.”
Maze snorted and rolled her eyes “Sure. I’m serious, who are you shopping for? There's been nothing entertaining all afternoon, so maybe I can help you find something.”
“I’m serious too.”
Maze rolled her eyes again so Penelope began to elaborate.
“Chloe never gave me a list this year and, being the good mother I am, I thought I’d buy her something that could break her out of her comfort zone and throw her back out into the dating pool.” She winked, “that Lucifer is a nice man, but she can’t keep holding him at arm’s length forever.”
Another smile bloomed across Maze’s dark features, this time its sharpness was replaced with scheming. She swiped a pair of strappy black panties from the drawer next to them.
“How about these then?”
Penelope shook her head. “No she hates straps. She says “they aren’t practical for a homicide detective,’” willing her voice to mock Chloe’s professional tone.
Maze shoved them into Penelope’s hands, “All the more reason to buy them!”
“Well if that’s how we’re doing this, then Chloe hates a lot more than just straps,” Penelope drew on expectantly.
The other woman’s eyes flashed with understanding, nodding slowly as she snatched the panties from her hands and returned it to its rightful drawer.
“I got you Decker, challenge accepted. I’m going to find Chloe lingerie that’s so slutty she'll be too afraid to return it.”
Penelope smirked. “We’ll see, after all, it shouldn’t be too hard to find something she hates.”
Maze immediately sprang into action, pushing people out of her way and coaxing Penelope to follow her through the growing mass of worried holiday shoppers. She furiously opened drawer after drawer of silk, satin, lace, and everything in between, searching for the perfect thing. Penelope studied her for a few moments before busying herself with a table full of thongs and g-strings.
She offered a private smile to the display and distinctly remembered when Chloe was nineteen: contrary to popular belief, her daughter hadn’t always worn boyshorts and hiphuggers.
Plucking the most annoying out of the bunch--a fuchsia lace thong-- she called for Maze across the room.
“Top that!” She shouted, waving the strip of fabric in the air so her new friend could see.
“Top this!” Maze responded, holding up a fishnet body suit, complete with a few straps that were supposed to cover what was important.
Not one to accept defeat, Penelope rushed to another table and grabbed a pair of red panties trying to imitate a sexy Easter bunny. She held them up, cut out back and pom-pom in all, giving Maze her best beat that look.
Maze smirked, drawing up a seemingly normal, modestly cut black cheekini.
Penelope wandered over to her, a satisfied smirk plastered on her face.
“I think I won, especially if this is what you’re challenging me with.”
“Oh no Decker,” she said, holding them up for closer inspection, “I got you beat.” She pointed at the strip of fabric that made up the crotch and Penelope squinted, her eyebrows quirking up when she realized that said fabric was, in fact, missing from the rest of the ensemble.
“Let’s call this a truce,” Penelope replied, holding up another pair equally lacking important fabric, “and buy both. We can even make it our together gift.”
Maze grinned, “I like the way you think Decker.”
Chloe’s face dropped and reddened to almost the exact shade of the tissue paper that had been covering the lingerie.
“Oh...you guys shouldn’t have…Really shouldn’t have ,” she sputtered.
She drew the barely-there red lace from the box, displaying the completely backless pair of panties to everyone in the room.
Maze and Penelope cackled in laughter as Chloe’s eyes almost popped out of her cherry-red sockets, howling louder when she desperately tried to shove the garment back into its box.
“Don’t worry Decker,” Maze began breathlessly, coughing a few times to get the rest of the remaining giggles out of her system, “we got you a pair missing the front door too, if backdoor guests aren’t your thing.”
When the story was relayed to Lucifer later in the week, Maze and Penelope would swear in that moment, Chloe’s face invented a new shade of red.
WHAT TO WATCH THIS WEEKEND September 13, 2019  - ONE CUT OF THE DEAD, FREAKS, HUSTLERS, THE GOLDFINCH and more
We’re well into September, and the Toronto Film Festival is slowly grinding to a halt as I continue to sulk for missing so many movies that I won’t be able to see until November or December. At least I’ll be at the New York Film Festival this month, and there’s a little bit of overlap there.
Besides the wide releases, there’s some really good limited releases this week, but I want to focus specifically on three movies that played at the What the Fest?! in New York City back in March:
Tumblr media
The first of them is the Japanese zombie horror-comedy ONE CUT OF THE DEAD from director Shin'ichirô Ueda, which Shudder is releasing and streaming after it played a number of festivals including last year’s Fantastic Fest. What can I say about this really innovative film? I guess I can tell you that it’s about a zombie attack on the crew of a zombie movie, but that wouldn’t be the whole story. Honestly, it’s best to go in not knowing too much about it, other than it’s not your typical zombie movie. The complex intricacies of what Ueda does with his cast makes this one of my favorite recent zombie-related movies since the similarly great Korean film, Train to Busan. One Cut of the Dead will be released in New York (at the IFC Center) and in L.A. on Friday but then it will get special one-night screenings next Tuesday (Sept 17) in other citiesbefore premiering on the Shudder streaming channel sometime down the road. And if you’ve been wondering why everyone who sees this movie keeps yelling “Pom!,” well you’ll just have to see the movie for yourself.
Another great movie from “What The Fest!?” is Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein’s FREAKS (Well Go USA), which will open a little wider than some of the other limited releases this weekend. It stars relative newcomer Lexy Kolker as Chloe, a young girl living in a world where those with powers are considered “freaks,” shunned and captured for experiments. Her father (Emile Hirsch) has been keeping her in hiding, but as Chloe gets older, she has questions about her mother, and also, there’s that weird ice cream man (Bruce Dern) who seems to know about her. Freaksis really a fantastic film from these filmmakers, Lipovsky having directed Leprechaun: Originsa few years back. I was truly impressed with Kolker’s performance opposite much more experienced actors, and Lipovsky/Stein find a way to build up the story to a satisfying climax.
I’ll have an interview with the directors over at The Beat later this week, as well.
I also want to call attention to DEPRAVED  (IFC Midnight), the new film from director Larry Fessenden, which is his take on the Frankenstein mythos with David Call playing Henry, an army medic who decides to build a human being called Adam (played by Alex Breux), but finds his invention hard to control as Adam remembers his past. Another “What the Fest?” vet (actually, this year’s opening night film), Depraved also stars Joshua Leonard, Chloë Levine and Ana Kayne, and it’s so nice to have Larry back making movies. You can read more with Larry in my interview over at The Beat.
And then of course, there are this week’s wide releases, STXfilms’ HUSTLERS and Warner Bros’ THE GOLDFINCH, which I’m hoping I get to see one or both by the time this posts. If so, I’ll have review of both of these movies below. (Note: I did get to them, and they’re both interesting movies in that neither of them was anything like I expected.)
Tumblr media
I’m really curious about HUSTLERS (STXFilms), because it’s the third film from director Lorene Scafaria, whose previous films, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World and The Meddler, I quite enjoyed, mainly because they featured actresses I like. I can take or leave Jennifer Lopez, but I genuinely love Constance Wu, and I really want to see what she can do in a more dramatic role. And then, of course, there’s the premise of New York strippers scamming a bunch of sleezy rich men out of their money, which is based on a New York Magazine article. That’s just one of those great pitches that makes me think many will be interested in checking it out this weekend, and it might do better than expected.
Mini-Review: I honestly think Hustlers is going to be an interesting litmus test for whether people who usually frown or turn their noses at the very real adult entertainment business that permeates big cities and small towns alike will be able to look past the setting to appreciate it for the skillful crime-drama that it is.
The film begins in 2007 with Constance Wu’s Dorothy on her first day at a big New York City strip club where she has to deal with slimy Wall Street types and equally sleazy bosses who take a big chunk of her earnings. Things change when she meets Jennifer Lopez’s Ramona, the absolute queen of the strip club scene, which you can tell as you first watch her performing. Ramona knows the ropes and takes a liking to “Destiny” (Dorothy’s stripper name) enough to befriend her and give her some tips.
After a bit  more shenanigans explaining how things work in stripping, the story then cuts forward years later after Dorothy has had a child and is a single mother needing money. She returns to the club but business isn’t as good after 2008 as the Wall Street jerks aren’t as anxious to throw their money around. When Ramona reenters her life, the two of them come up with a scheme to drug their marks and then empty out their credit cards of money. It’s going well, and they’re getting away with it to the point where they need to expand.
Although Scafaria uses a fairly standard format to tell this story in the screenplay – basically having Constance Wu telling Julia Styles’ reporter the story as it plays out -- it’s the way she allows the story to unfold which allows the film to improve as it goes along. Sure, it’s a little predictable where and how things are going to go wrong, but the movie still works on quite a few levels beginning with the performances by Wu and J-Lo that a lot of people will be talking about later. When we first see Lopez dancing, she looks absolutely amazing, and it must be incredibly empowering for a former dancer now 50 years old to be able to get on stage with barely any clothes on and strut her stuff.
A lot of why the movie doesn’t come across as sleazy as it might otherwise (such as in the hands of a male director) is the way that Scafaria focuses so much on the friendship between Ramona and Dorothy and what happens as things start breaking down between them, especially when Dorothy starts growing a conscience. The rest of the mostly-female cast is great, although most of the men in the movie are depicted as such slimy and disgusting pigs, it’s hard to feel sorry for them either.
Hustlers is the type of movie that we wouldn’t blink if Scorsese or even producer Adam McKay had directed, but the fact that Scafaria can transition so smoothly from her light comedies to something so well-constructed is part of why the movie is so impressive.
I’m not sure if women who see this movie will rush out to take stripping classes in order to fuel their sense of empowerment, but Hustlers is a genuinely enjoyable film that tells a fascinating story and Scafaria should get full credit for making another movie this good.
I don’t know nearly as much about THE GOLDFINCH (Warner Bros.) except that it’s based on a best-selling Pulitzer price-winning book by author Donna Tartt, and it has an insane cast that includes Ansel Elgort, Nicole Kidman and Jeffrey Wright. I know that reviews out of TIFF were not good, and I’m not sure it will find an audience even with the popularity of the book.
Mini-Review: I haven’t read The Goldfinch, and actually, I’m kind of glad I didn’t read it before seeing this John Crowley-directed movie, because it might have taken away from one of the main reasons I enjoyed it.
The basic premise is simple but the overall story and movie that tells the story is quite complex, maybe needlessly so, but if I didn’t know this movie was based on a beloved book, I could totally have guessed that was the case since so much of what happens in the movie is more literary than cinematic… though not necessarily in a bad way.
The story revolves around Theo Decker, played as a youngster by Oakes Fegley and about ten years older by Ansel Elgort. We meet Theo shortly after his mother was killed in an explosion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, after which he’s turned over to the wealthy Barbour family, his friend Andy’s mother overjoyed to bring Theo into their family of five. Just when things are going well, Theo’s real father (Luke Wilson) shows up and drags the boy back to his home in a desolate area outside Vegas with his white trash girlfriend (played by an unrecognizable Sarah Paulson). There, Theo makes a new friend in Boris (Finn Wolfhard), and the two of them get into trouble, smoking cigarettes, drinking and doing drugs. And then stuff happens.
If you haven’t read the book, I’m not going to do a play-by-play on the plot, because SO MUCH happens in this movie, and that’s part of why it’s enjoyable because it’s such rich and dense storytelling ably pulled together by Brooklyn director John Crowley.
One of the things I will mention is the movie’s title “The Goldfinch” which is a priceless work of art that Theo takes from the Met after the explosion, and he holds onto it for years, for reasons we won’t learn until much later. Another piece of the puzzle is Jeffrey Wright’s Hobie, who restores antiques into convincing fakes. There’s also Pippa (Ashleigh Cummings), the granddaughter of Hobie’s business partner who also died in the explosion.
There is a way that these people connect together, and a reason why almost all of them have an important place in Theo’s journey, but there is absolutely nothing predictable about how many of these pieces will come together. To say that The Goldfinch is full of unexpected surprises would be an understatement.
I generally liked Oakes Fegley better as Theo than Ansel Elgort, but Finn Wolfhard quickly steals the movie as Theo’s eccentric friend, who returns later in the guises of Aneurin Barnard. Both pairs of actors make their portions of the film particularly interesting. In fact, I thought that Nicole Kidman probably brought the least to her role as Theo’s adoptive mother.
Filmed by Oscar-winning cinematographer Roger Deakins, the movie looks absolutely gorgeous, leaving little question why he is considered the master. Every actor and location looks amazing, and there’s a lot of variety in environments in which the story takes place. On top of that, the choices in music really helped me to enjoy this movie, even if it’s the choice of New Order to introduce Finn Wolfhard’s Boris, all dressed in black, to the rest of the score by Trevor Gureckis that helps bolster the film’s more dramatic moments.
Yes, the movie does feel long at times and maybe a little slow, but it’s also quite captivating because you never know where things are going, and everything is so unpredictable. You have to give props to screenwriter Peter Straughn for tackling such difficult material in such a fluid way. (I will mention that there’s at least one aspect of the film’s big plot twist that is almost impossible to believe, but I won’t ruin it.)
In my opinion, all of these seeming tangents that take Theo on this wild journey does pay-off with an ending that got me quite teary-eyed. Sure, it’s long at 2.5 hours but Theo’s story is a complicated one to tell, and it all adds up and pays off eventually.
Rating: 7/10
Amazon Studios has been advertising that Paul Downs Collaizo’s BRITTANY RUNS A MARATHON nationwide this Friday but that could mean anywhere between 500 and 1500 theaters or more. I hope it’s somewhere in the middle, as I’d like to see it make a play into the top 10 like The Peanut Butter Falcon did last weekend. It’s a terrific film and Jillian Bell is quite wonderful in it, oh, and if you haven’t read my interview with her, you can find that over at Next Best Picture. It’s a fun interview and a fun movie, so I hope people make an effort to check it out.
LIMITED RELEASES
Tumblr media
One of the more interesting releases of the weekend is the Colombian film MONOS (Neon /Participant Media) from director Alejandro Landes that centers on a pack of wild gun-toting teenagers living on a mountaintop in the South American jungles where they run sort of wild but also are well-trained as a fighting unit. They actually have taken a hostage, a doctor played by Julianne Nicholson, who is just great in this role, continuing to show off how she’s one of the most underrated actresses working today. There’s definitely a “Lord of the Flies” feel to Landes’ film which has been submitted by Colombia as its Oscar submission for the newly-labelled “Best International Film Festival,” and I wouldn’t be surprised if it finds enough fans to get into the short-list, at least. Not sure about the nomination as this is already a tough year with high-profile submissions like the new Almodovar and Bong Joon-ho’s Parasite. Still, I think this will find its share of fans, and I can recommend it for its artistry more than as something you must rush out to see.
GKIDS’s latest animated release is ANOTHER DAY OF LIFE, based on the book by journalist Ricardo Kapuscinski that looks at the outbreak of civil war in Angola after being freed of its independence from Portugal in 1975. The autobiographical film follows  Kapuściński’s search for the rebel leader Farrusco through wartorn Angola, so this is very much an animated documentary similar to Waltz with Bashir. It will open in New York at the IFC Center and in L.A. at the Laemmle Glendale this Friday.
And then there’s Michael Tyburski’s THE SOUND OF SILENCE (IFC Films), which stars Peter Sarsgaard, an actor I generally like, as a “house tuner.” Basically, he goes into people’s apartments and find out what notes or tones are causing them anxiety or preventing them from sleeping. One of his clients is a woman, played by Rashida Jones, and they sort of have a thing going, but Sarsgaard’s character is so strange and the movie is so slow, I didn’t really get more than an hour into this before I gave up.  This was based on a short film called “Palimpsest,” and while “The Sound of Silence” is a much better title, this is a concept that probably works best as a short, since as a feature, it’s boring as fuck.
Another Friday the 13thhorror release is Scott Becks and Bryan Woods’ HAUNT (Momentum Pictures), which follows a group of friends who go into an “extreme haunted house” on Halloween in a night that turns deadly. Unlike the movies mentioned above, I feel that this really should have been held until next month, because it’s just going to get lost in the shuffle of all of the releases this weekend.
Since this column doesn’t post until Wednesday, I should probably mention that Rob Zombie’s new movie 3 from Hell will get a three-day wide release on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in about 500 theaters, each day offering another bonus. It’s a direct sequel to The Hell’s Rejects, a movie I actively hated, and this one is more of the same, so I can’t recommend it at all. I hated this movie, and it’s use of violence for entertainment. UGH.
Let’s get to a few documentaries, a few of which I’ve seen...
Opening at the IFC Center is Michelle Esrick’s Cracked Up, a movie about “Saturday Night Live” vet Darrell Hammond and the history of childhood trauma he kept locked up for 40 years. I missed this at Doc-NYC last year but both Hammond and Esrick will be at the IFC Center Friday evening to answer questions.
Irene Taylor Brodsky’s Moonlight Sonata: Deafness in Three Movements (Abramorama) opens at New York’s Landmark 57 Friday and in L.A. at the Lammle Royal on Friday, Sept 20, and it’s an interesting film for the director of Beware the Slenderman, an excellent doc from a few years back. It looks at three people dealing with deafness, a young boy, an aging grandfather and no less than Ludwig van Beethoven, their stories weaved together to explore what it means to be deaf.
I had mixed feelings on Liam Gallagher: As It Was (Screen Media), which will be in theaters this Friday, available via Digital Download Sept. 17 and on VOD platforms Oct. 8.  I saw and liked the Oasis doc Oasis: Supersonic a few years back, but Gavin Fitzgerald and Charlie Lightening’s doc focuses on the former Oasis frontman and his fall from grace after his very public feud with his brother Noel Gallagher put the spotlight on a singer who I personally feel is an egotistical prat… and he goes about proving that in every scene of this movie. The movie covers how the break-up of Oasis led to Liam immediately starting Beady Eye, which proved to be a failure before he decides to go solo. Maybe it isn’t a coincidence that this is being released a week before Gallagher’s new solo album “Why Me? Why Not.”
After playing last year’s Fantastic Fest and the recent Fantasia and BAMCInemaFest, Aaron Schimberg’s Chained for Life will be released at the IFC Center on Weds and at the Landmark Nuart in Los Angeles on Friday. The movie stars Jess Weixler as movie star Mabel, who has been slumming it in art-horror film being shot in a hospital opposite Rosenthal (Adam Pearson), a gentle young man with a severe facial deformity, as their relationship grows.
Elise Duran’s high-concept rom-com Can You Keep a Secret? (Vertical) is based on Sophie Kinsella’s novel and it stars the super-cute Alexandra Daddario as a New York woman who is having troubles in life and when turbulence hits her plane, she confesses all her secrets to her neighbor, who turns out to be the company’s CEO.
Next up is a bunch of odds and ends including some VOD specials. Opening in New York and L.A. is Larry Clarke’s comedy 3 Days with Dad (Unified Pictures), starring Tom Arnold who returns home to deal with his dying father. There’s also the Bollywood courtroom drama Section 375 (Reliance Entertainment), directed by Ajay Bahl.  Jim Gaffigan’s second movie of the year, American Dreamer (Saban/Lionsgate), co-written and directed by Derrick Borte (The Joneses), has him playing a ride-share driver who kidnaps the child of a drugdealer. It opens at New York’s Cinema Village Friday and in L.A. and VOD next Friday. There’s also Garrett Batty’s Out of Liberty (Purdie Distribution), and I’m not even sure what to say about Seth Prices’ Redistribution, opening at the Metrograph, except that it’s a “reflexive work on art and interpretation.” Make of that what you will…. Or just check out the weird trailer.
Probably more than anything, I’m excited for the return of Jon Favreau’s The Chef Show this Friday, but there’s also a new original film called TALL GIRL, directed by Nzingha Stewart and starring Ava Michelle as the tallest girl in school (hence the title), who deals with being so tall until she meets Luke Eisner’s Stig, a Swedish foreign exchange student who is even taller than her. It’s another cute teen-targeted rom-com from Netflix that I’m not sure I’ll ever see.
Next week is a mix of stuff including James Gray’s Ad Astra, starring Brad Pitt; Sylvester Stallone is back as Rambo: Last Blood and Downton Abbeyr eturns… but only in theaters.
Lucifer Gilmore Girls AU? Do tell more...
okay, I’m guessing this is from my WIP meme?
i mean, basically, it’s Lucifer and the Lucifer characters in a setting like Stars Hollow, but not in Connecticut. and like okay, i had a thing but then i hated it, so i had to rewrite it, and it’s much better now. Like legit its exactly what it says on the tin.
Lux is a diner and not a nightclub and Lucifer’s coffee is the best ever, and Chloe runs an inn and Ella is a chef at the inn, and Amenadiel run the grocery store across from Lux and yes, him and Lucifer are still brothers, and Trixie is there because whats a GG AU without a kid?? and while we’re at it, a snippet:
“Mommy dothey have chocolate milk here?” Trixie asked as they sat themselves as the signhad told them to.
“Of course,we do, you little urchin,” an accented voice came from behind them.
Chloe turnedwith a frown and was about to scold the man for calling her daughter a name,when Trixie giggled, “You’re funny! Can I have chocolate milk please?”
“’Course youcan,” he said, and then he turned to Chloe and smirked, “and for you, Mrs…?”
“Miss Decker, and coffee, please,” she said, butshe didn’t smile at him, like he did at her.
#Lucifer--Season 2, Episode 14:"Candy Morningstar"
Denial is in the air this week on "Lucifer."
This week's episode opens with Lilith sitting on some guy's lap and making out in Lucifer' club, engaging in sexual role play. In the middle of said role play, Lilith begins ranting about being neglected by her son and her sex partner immediately runs for the hills, leaving Maze to enter and gloat about how Lucifer is probably plotting revenge against Lilith as they speak, though, in truth, even Maze doesn't know where Lucifer is.
Cut to Lucifer sitting in a dark office with some gangster types, asking him for payment for something. The head gangster says "it's your funeral" and opens a briefcase. Chloe and Dan walk down the street, talking about missing Lucifer. Ella says that she misses him too. Lucifer's absence can be felt.
Ella describes the murder o' the week as she, Dan and Chloe look down at Ash, the murder victim. Chloe notices as Ella is talking that Amenadiel has appeared and then vanished across the street from her. Amenadiel appears to be watching her. Ella notes the oddly shaped dents in Ash's head and Chloe happens to notice that the victim played guitar due to the callouses on his fingers. Unfortunately, in a cruel of know-nothing-ness, show-runners allowed the scene where Ella picks up THE WRONG HAND to look at the victim's fretting hand callouses. Unless they're looking at the body of a deceased Sir Paul McCartney, then they be looking at the wrong darned hand. Fretting hand callouses would be on the left hand for almost any guitarist--even a left-handed guitarist, as most musicians simply learn to play right-handed guitar.
After this grievous travesty, the show continues as Chloe notices a copy of Ash's band's book, musing aloud that Ash was the band's, front man.  Det. Chloe Decker and Det. Dan interview Ash's band. Ash's female band mate somewhat gleefully suggests that the two detectives talk to Ash's ex-wife. While they're on their way to do that, Lucifer shows up at the station to tell Chloe and Dan his "news" about getting married to a Vegas stripper-type called Candy, who goes by CottonCandy86 online. Oof. Candy immediately shows Dan and Chloe her ginormous wedding ring, leaving Lucifer to apparently happily explain that the two are married (!!). Lucifer tries to explain to Chloe and Chloe isn't interested. Lucifer seems to be pretending that he and Chloe never had a relationship.
Det. Dan comes to tell Chloe that he has Ash's ex-wife in the interrogation room, where Chloe reads reports from Ash's band members to Ash's ex-wife that make her look like a good suspect. Chloe tries to bate Ash' wife into a frustrated confession, but she doesn't bite. Ash's ex-wife suggests that their shady divorce mediator may have run off with the money she had to pay Ash in the divorce.
 Amenadiel and Lilith are searching for online records of Lucifer's marriage to Candy, and they find them. CottonCandy86 has posted a boatload of cheesy photos of their marriage and honeymoon. While waiting in the station with Lucifer, Candy notices a man that appears in several of the crime scene photos. Surprisingly, it's Ash' divorce mediator. Chloe tells Lucifer off in no uncertain terms and confides in him that he let her down and that she doesn't need him anymore.
Lucifer shows up in his session with Dr. Linda with Candy in tow. Dr. Linda covertly mentions hell, and Lucifer tells her that he's not hiding anything from Candy. Dr. Linda suspects that Lucifer's rash decision making and denial are symptoms of trauma from his "travels" to hell. Lucifer denies it. Dr. Linda asks about Det. Decker and Lucifer state that his feelings toward Chloe were fake and manipulated by God. Dr. Linda challenges Lucifer about his feeling for Chloe and says that to be healthy; he should take some dubious advice Candy blunderingly offered during their session and "act as if."
Lucifer follows Det. Dan to the divorce mediator's office. Det. Decker and Det. Dan moves to investigate the divorce mediator Ash and his ex-wife used. Lucifer makes an appointment for himself and Candy to covertly interrogated divorce mediator.
Lucifer introduces Candy to his Mother, and the two go out shopping together. After examining Candy, top to bottom, Maze asks Chloe what she thinks of Candy. While Chloe suppresses her feelings on that matter, Maze calls her out and dishes out some good advice for Chloe. Chloe uses Lucifer's in with the divorce mediator to pose as Candy herself and interrogate the divorce mediator. The two appear to benefit from the divorce mediation. Lucifer opens up about his concern for Chloe's well-being during the session and Chloe isn't sure that she believes him. The divorce mediator approaches "Candy" aka Chloe while on a break during their session, where Chlor propositions the divorce mediator to weight things in her favorite. He doesn't bite. It appears that Ash's divorce mediator helped Ash in the divorce simply because he liked Ash's band, of which the divorce mediator planned to be the future manager. Ash's divorce mediator was at the crime scene, looking for Ash, having known that Ask and his bassist Marla were fighting.
Candy remarks to Lilith while out shopping that clearly, her large ring is indicative of Lucifer's large amount of love for Candy. Surprisingly, however, Candy turns out to be rather intuitive, intuiting that Lilith simply wants the best for her son and telling her that she will be there for Lilith to help make Lucifer happy. While talking to Amenadiel later on, Lilith suggests that Lucifer might be broken because of her pushing and manipulation. Lilith decides that she's a terrible Mother (a state of affairs which is not wholly untrue). Ella and Dan appear to be rooting for Chloe and Lucier to patch things up. Chloe is frustrated but appreciates her team's support. While talking, the team comes to a conclusion, with Ella taking the lead, that Ash was murdered by Marlowe's bass. During one of the band's shows, Lucifer comes up on stage for an exceptional performance where, after having looked through Chloe's phone and noticed her penchant for '90's pop ballads, starts singing and playing the Bangles' "Eternal Flame." Cleverly, however, Lucifer announces that his song is going out to a very special girl--Marla, who now cannot escape the club without being noticed (devious!). Lucifer tells the audience that this song goes out to a special someone--a woman who thinks she doesn't need him anymore. Chloe smiles and begins to soften a bit toward Lucifer. The killer is caught! Lucifer reminds Chloe while still on the stage of what a good team they make.
So cute!
Lucifer continues on a strong campaign of acting cute in the hopes that all will be forgiven. Ella is glad to see Lucifer and Chloe Decker reconcile a bit. Amenadiel, however, calls Lucifer out for his bad behavior toward Chloe--as any good brother would. Lucifer caves to Amenadiel and admits that he's trying to protect Chloe. Amenadiel empathizes with his brother, Lucifer, and then tells Lucifer to apologize to their Mother who, after all, went to hell and faced her worst fears to find and help Lucifer on his quest to save Chloe. Pretty great mothering, huh...
When the team questions Marla, she says she ran because she thought she was going to be busted for the fake I.D.'s she's been making and one of her stalker fake I.D. customers. Marla maintains her innocence, swearing she didn't do this.
The team finds that her bandmate, Doug, had Marla's bad guitar last and is a much more likely suspect. While banging on the door of Doug, the murderer, Lucifer's phone rings: it's Candy. Whoops. Guess that silent option on your iPhone doesn't work too well for desperate wives who call through and activate the emergency connect function. Sadly, Doug, the murderer hears Lucifer's brief phone call with Candy and attacks Lucifer from behind, strangling him. Chloe attempts to talk Doug down as Doug confesses to Ash's murder, which was committed in the heat of the moment. Doug threatens to kill Lucifer if Chloe doesn't lower her weapon, demanding that if Chloe cares about her partner [Lucifer], she should drop her weapon. Even while being strangled, Lucifer quips, "you may as well just yank the sucker then, Dougie, I'm useless to her," saying "go on, do your worst." Tom Ellis is never better than when he's playing a petty-on-the-surface, deep underneath Lucifer. His quips are priceless. I haven't heard such great quipping and punning since my days of watching Buffy The Vampire Slayer, which admittedly aren't yet over (love that show!). Det. Decker clips Doug in the shoulder with a round and Lucifer and Det. Decker apprehends their suspect, meeting a distraught Candy back at the police station. Candy approaches Chloe to ask after Lucifer and to see if he's okay after being attacked (an attack Candy was unwittingly complicit in causing). While talking to Chloe, Candy just so happens to mention that Lucifer talks about Chloe all the time and that it's "detective, this and detective, that." She tells Chloe that work with her is extremely important to Lucifer and briefly recaps [for the audience] Chloe and Lucifer's ordeal, trying to cure Chloe of the poison she was given two episodes ago. Apparently, Lucifer shares more with Candy than previously thought. Chloe tells Lucifer that she'll see him tomorrow at the precinct and not to be late, thus giving Lucifer another chance at working with Chloe and the rest of the team. While Lucifer is clearly relieved to have an invitation extended to him to work with Chloe and the team again officially, he is clearly unhappy about the new set of professional boundaries Chloe seems to have installed. It is evident that Lucifer still cares deeply for Chloe on a personal level and wants to be with her in a romantic relationship. The depth and breadth of human emotion are still something Lucifer must become used to, though Lilith and Maze are excellent foils for him in that regard as they are both clearly way less emotionally mature than Lucifer is on many levels.
Speaking of Lilith, Lucifer speaks with his Mother, telling her that although she messed up, he knows she was probably coming from a place of love, even if the way she has gone about it has been, shall we say, suspect... Lilith comes clean with Lucifer too, saying that all she's wanted since she escaped hell, was to reunite Lilith, fer and Amenadiel' heavenly family. Lilith suggests that Lucifer gets ahold of the heavenly flaming sword, which is Azrael's blade, which, conveniently, Lucifer happens to have in his possession! Cut to the final twist of tonight's episode, during which Lucifer meets with "Candy," telling her she's done excellent work and thanks her for helping him to get inside of "that scheming head of his Mother's." It seems "Candy" was fake all along. "Candy" as simply someone whose life Lucifer saved out in Vegas, who owed him a favor. Wow. Surprise ending! Lucifer kindly lets' "Candy" keep her wedding ring, citing the fact that divorces are expensive. It turns out that Candy does have plans to open a business--maybe just not the tanning salon/juice bar she waxed poetic to Lilith about earlier in tonight's episode. "Candy's" parting advice to Lucifer was to try not to mess things up with Det. Chloe Decker. As "Candy's" limo drives away, ostensibly back home to Vegas, Lucifer whispers into the night that he won't.
So what's to come on next week's episode, "Deceptive Little Parasites?" Well, let's see...
