Let’s Talk About Berries!

I love berries! I help grow and maintain the berry plants we have at the lab, so today’s going to be a post all about different uses for them.

You might already know that several berries have properties that can help Pokemon in the wild or in battle--some common ones can heal various ailments, for example.

And, of course, you can use berries to make various treats for your Pokemon, like Pokeblocks, Poffins, and Pokepuffs!

But aside from those uses, berries, like any other fruit, can be enjoyed by both people and Pokemon in all sorts of ways! You can eat them right off a berry tree, cook them up, use them in desserts, make them into jams, juice them, put them in smoothies...

(I think I’m actually making myself hungry with this, haha!)

And they can be easy to grow, too! More common berries tend to have more lenient needs, and they can still be just as delicious as rarer, harder-to-grow berries. You can plant a berry tree in your yard, or if you’re on the move a lot or short on space, you can use portable planters to grow mini berry plants! I love the planters because they’re super easy to use, and a lot of models will help maintain things like soil quality and humidity all on their own--they’re super useful!

Just remember--whatever berries you want to grow or use, make sure you or your Pokemon don’t have allergies to them--and almost just as important, make sure everyone likes the flavor! A Pokemon might eat a Pecha berry in a pinch, for example, but if it’s not a fan of sweeter foods, it’s probably not going to accept a Pecha smoothie from you later on!

That all said, go out and find some berries! I know there’s some foraging apps out there that mark the locations of wild berry trees, and even if there’s none in your immediate area, you could always see if you can find a stash of them in a tree or bush! (Just be careful there’s no wild Pokemon guarding it before you try reaching for some!)

Everyone always goes on about how Adrien and Mylene aren't assholes despite experiencing trauma

But

Surprise, surprise!! People react differently to trauma!

YOU may wanna be a better person, YOU may never wanna be mean.

But not everyone comes out of trauma all nice and kind.

Obviously, and I can't stress this enough cuz sometimes people CANT FUCKING READ. This doesn't mean be a bully, this isn't excusing Chloe. She's a fucking bully and an asshole. We KNOW that.

But holy shit. Not everyone wants to be a good person, sometimes when you feel shitty you wanna lash out and take it out on everyone. Is it right? FUCK NO. But it happens.

It doesn't make then evil, (especially when you're fucking 14 and you get compared to a literal grown terrorist, bffr)

Also. Marinette told Chloe in order for her shitty mom to love her she had to act like her..no ones gonna talk about that stupid ass evidence?? Just. God damn.

Also. Mylenes mom abandoning her shouldn't be compared to Chloes mom abandoning her to have a whole other child and leaving Chloe with a spineless, useless father who gave her EVERYTHING she wanted and never taught her how to act cuz he sucks.

Adrien was conditioned to act properly and do everything he's told or he'll get his freedom or anything he loves takin away, and despite that he still sees the good in people, that's great!!

Chloe was raised being handing everything with no consequences. They can't be comparable!

So…it’s been a bit of a day.

Yesterday was Luvdisc Day, of course—I didn’t do too much for it, mostly just work as normal (but Professor Blackthorn did bring in cupcakes for all the staff! Thanks, Professor!).

Today, I went shopping during my lunch break to see if I could snag some discount chocolate. Good news, I did!

But on my way back to the lab, I found an Applin that seems like it’s been abandoned.

And now I’ve found a group of Flabebe, on their own without a Florges or even a Floette to help protect them, and a few Budew.

I’ve gotten them all set up in the lab for the time being, so they should be all right there for a few days…but if anyone’s interested in giving one or more of them a proper home, please let me know! The other researchers there said they’d check with some people they know as well, but if we can’t find adopters for them by the end of the week, they’ll be taken to a local shelter.

I feel like so many people say this around this time of year, and it really should be obvious, but if you’re getting someone a gift, don’t get them a Pokemon unless you’ve already discussed it and know they can take care of it!!! So many Pokemon are bought, caught, or bred as gifts this time of year, and then end up on their own and unable to fend for themselves because the giftee didn’t want them, and then didn’t even think to take them to a shelter.

And it’s COLD out at this time of year! A LOT of Pokemon that are popular as gifts can’t stand the cold! And even if they normally can, a lot of them are really young and shouldn’t be left alone at all!!

Please, people…use some common sense. Pokemon just end up hurt from this, and some are going to end up dying because of it, and it’s heartbreaking to see every year. Give a plushie or something instead if the person really wants something to snuggle.

…That turned into a bit of a rant, sorry. Anyway, again, if anyone wants one of the Pokémon I found, message me here and we can work something out. We’re not in a major region so we’ll probably have to do a PC transfer, but we can set that up pretty easily. I just want them all to find good, caring homes.

And I’ll keep my eyes out for any other abandoned Pokémon over the next few days. They’ll probably be looking for someplace warm.
