Halo Trivia: In Halo: The Flood (I think), when Choef is going through what was the Library in Combet Evolved (aka THAT level), just before reaching the activation index, he finds a dead human marine. The body is mangled so badly that the Flood can’t use it at all. This marine, Marvin Mobuto, doesn’t appear in Combat Evolved however. If the Library in the book is as big and as Flood-infested as it is in game, then Mobuto is a certified badass.

Having a copy of the book in question, I can confirm! Master Chief even says to Staff Sergeant Mobuto's body, "I didn't know you, Sarge, but I sure as hell wish I had. You must have been one hardass son of a bitch."

This is THE CHIEF talking here. When the giant cyborg super soldier, who was pushed to his limits by The Feckin' Library, says a normal man was a badass, THAT IS SAYING SOMETHING.

Eric Johansson 

Sweedish photographer Johansson creates surreal images by using multiple images. 

The below image is a perfect example of image manipulation and using various images to create a surreal looking image. The use of the mirrors to create a water looking affect is a very clever way to create a simple yet successful illusion. 

The below image is another perfect example of this. It creates a beautiful surreal image through capturing various images and using layers in post production. This image plays on a simple idea and the idea of perspective which helps it have a very unique charm. The softness of the image also suits with the tones and colours used. 

Playton Yurich 

Russian born photographer Playton Yurich creates dreamlike images through photo manipulation.

The following image captures his work perfectly, the surrealist dreamlike landscape with the simple yet out there idea of holding puzzle pieces of the sky works extremely well. This image also works well because of the balance it has due to the horizon line and the symmetry within the image.

This image again plays on a simple idea but by using photo manipulation it creates a very surreal and dreamlike image. Using similar tones the image works well, again this image also relies heavily on its symmetry. The concept of this image also works well with the tones as the tones are very warm as is the concept. 

Angie Kordic

Editor in choef and photography specialist Kordic also creates dreamlike images but with a darker tone. 

The below image also follows a lot of the same premises as above such as photo manipulation etc. Though this image seems to have a much more sinister tone with both the subject matter and the colour grading. This image relates quite well to “The Uncanny” as it creates an atmosphere and a place we are all familliar with yet creates it with sinister and uncomfortable feel to it. 

Logan Zillmer 

American born commerical photographer Logan Zillmer creates images using photo manipulation. 

Zillmers work is very commercial and is incredibly detailed. The image below is a prime example of this. By using multiple images Zillmer creates incredibly surreal images which again have this quality of the uncanny just like previous work I have mentioned. The similar tones also help create the mood within this image, it helps pull the image together and give it that uncomfortable feel. 

Andrea Galvani

Italian born artist Andrea Galvani uses his conceptual research into various mediums to inspire his conceptual and surrealist work. 

The following image is a great example of this, the strong use of the leading lines and the contrast between the small spheres and the objects help make this image so strong. The balance in this image between the spheres is also of massive contrast to the naturally chaotic landscape which takes up the background. By using various images Galvani has created a wonderfully unique image which has almost an other worldy feel to it.

COVID19 & PREGNANCY Last nights news that there have been four preliminary reports of stillbirths potentially associated with Covid19 may have caused some worry. The name given to the condition is covid placentitis, which is an infection in the placenta and occurs in some women who have tested positive for Covid19. So far Dr. Ronan Glynn (Deputy Choef medical officer) has said that the reports need to be interpreted with caution as the coroners have not yet concluded their findings. However, a study carried out on over 4,000 pregnant women, combining UK and US data did show that there was - No increase in rates of Stillbirths, Low birth weight or early neonatal death. There was a small increase in the amount of premature births found. (Click the link in my bio to read this study) More research is needed before findings can be confirmed.
