İnsanı yormayan, sıkmayan ama aynı zamanda dolu dolu bir hikaye anlatan son derece keyifli bir diziydi. Tam olarak neden bilmesem de çok keyif aldım. Belki doğru zamanda doğru duygularla izledim, belki de gerçekten insanı anlattığı duyguya sokmayı başarıyordu.

Dizi; “sınıfın birincisi ile sonuncusu arasındaki komedi ve eğitim belgeseli” adıyla lise öğrencileri ile bir belgesel çekilmesine karar verilmesi ile başlıyor. Sınıfın birincisi Kook Yeon-Su(Kim Da-Mi) hırslı hayalleri idealleri olan bir kızdır. Sınıf sonuncusu Choi Ung (Choi Woo-Sik) ise hırsları olmayan çok sakin bir öğrenicidir. Dizi konusu bir tık klişe olsa bile senarist hikayeyi öyle güzel katmanlamış ki, kaliteli bir yemek yiyormuşsunuz gibi hissettiriyor. Klişe kısmı ise, önce birbirinden hoşlanmayan sonra çok seven en sonunda ayrılan bir çiftin tekrar karşılaşması diye özetleyebiliriz.

Belgeselin son günü aynı zamanda lisenin son günü sevgili olan çiftimiz 5 yıl sonunda ayrılıyorlar. Öyle minik de değil uzun bir ilişkiyi bitiriyorlar. Ayrılmalarından da 5 yıl sonra bir şekilde karşılaşıyorlar. Kook Yeon-Su bir şirkette halka ilişkiler uzmanı olarak çalışıyor. Choi Ung ise çok başarılı bir teknik çizer olmuş. Yeon-Su’nun çalıştığı firma için Ung’un çizer kimliğine ihtiyaçları oluyor. Ve onu ikna etmeye Yeon-Su’yu gönderiyorlar.

Choi Woo-Sik inanılmaz bir oyuncu. Bu kadar az hareket, mimik ve replik ile bütün vermesi gereken duyguyu gözleri ile verebiliyor. Senaryoyu çok takip etmeseniz bile oyuncular kolunuza girip istedikleri yere götürüyorlar. Çocukluk arkadaşı Kim Ji-Ung rolünde Vincenzo dizisinden hatırlayacağımız Kim Sung-Cheol oynuyordu. Onunla olan çocukluk travmaları da çok başarılı anlatılmıştı. Ji-Ung’un hep arkadaşının ailesine özenerek büyümesi ama aslında ilerleyen bölümlerde çözülen düğümlerle Ung’un daha yalnız bir çocukluk geçirdiğini anlatması oldukça dokunaklıydı. Ung’un sonradan arkadaşı olan NJ (Roh Jeong-Eui) karakterinin hikayesi de yalnızlık hakkında oldukça dokunaklı bir hikaye anlatıyordu. 

Baş rollerimiz Choi Woo-Sik ve Kim Da-Mi ilk 2018 yılında “The Witch: Part 1. The Subversion” filminde beraber kamera karşısındaymışlar. Ben seyretmedim ama bilgisini vereyim. Aralarındaki uyum o zamandan beri varmış. Diziyi karakterlerin bakış açıları ile izleyiciye sundukları için soru işaretleri yerine empati ile izliyorsunuz.

Burada bir parantez açıp Choi Woo-Sik’den bahsetmek isityorum. Kendisi oldukça minnoş görünse bile 1990 doğumlu kazık kadar adam. Benim favorim Wooga Squad’ın kadrosunda olması da cabası. Minnoş görünmekten sevimli bulunmaktan hoşlanmadığını ve duygusaldan çok aksiyon yapımlarda oynamaktan keyif aldığını söylemişliği var. Ama ne yazık ki bu onun minnoşluğunu değiştirmiyor. Oyunculuk kariyerinin başlarında oynadığı Set Me Free ile ulusal bir başarı ve birçok ödül kazandıktan sonra Train to Busan (2016) ve Parasite (2019) filmlerinde adını iyice duyurdu. Artık onu herkes Parasite filmi ile tanıyor.

Yani; eğlenceli, katmanlı, sakin, huzurlu, sevimli, yer yer komik ve gerçek bir hikaye izledim. Sakinlik sevmeyenlerin diziyi hiç etmemelerini rica ederek uzak durmalarını söyleyebilirim. Ve, Wooga Squad’ın bir diğer üyesi olan BTS’den V’nin dizi ost’si için yazdığı şarkı inanılmaz. Kim Da-Mi ise Itaewon Class dizisinin yaldızlarından. Itaewon Class’da Park Seo-Joon ile başrolü paylaşıyordu. Seo-Joon da yine bir Wooga squad üyesi. Üyelerin birlikte çıktıkları tatili vlog olarak yayınladıkları “In the soop: Friendcation” programında ekip olarak bu dizinin güncel bölümünü izlediklerini görmüştük. Birbirlerine tepkileri kıskançlıktan kudurtan cinstendi. Onuda ilerleyen yazılarımda ayrıca buraya ekleyeceğim.

Oradan oraya atlarken diziden çok oyuncular hakkında konuştuğumu fark ettim. Dizi hayattan bir kesit olduğu için karmaşık bir hikayesi yok. Yani o oldu bu oldu şekilde anlatabileceğim bir durum olmamasından dolayı lafı oradan oraya geçmişim. Oyunculuklar kaliteli, hikaye durağan ama katmanlı, çekimler oldukça başarılıydı. Dizide beğenmediğim olumsuz bulduğum hiçbir şey olmadı.

I'm thinking in particular of my recent viewing of Peter Medak's The Ruling Class (1972), which goes abruptly from a giddy satire of upperclass manners into a dark tale about homicidal mania, losing the audience's assent to its original vision. So why does Parasite, which takes a similar turn, work so well that it won over international audiences and walked off with three of the most prestigious Oscars, for picture, director, and screenplay? It's a story of how the Kim family, eking out a living in a sub-basement, conned their way into the household of the wealthy Park family, who live in a classy house designed by a famous architect, but are then undone by a secret built into the house itself. I think it works because Bong Joon-ho's vision is dark from the start, but his touch is light, making us appreciate what drives the Kims -- poverty and class resentment -- and what makes the Parks so vulnerable -- snobbery and vanity. Both families need a comeuppance, the Kims for their lack of scruples, the Parks for their sense of entitlement. Maybe the comeuppance is overkill, but Bong has kept his characters at a slight distance throughout the film, so that we don't feel the shock of loss when they meet their fates. The ambivalence we may feel about them is summed up in the title: Parasite could refer to either family, the Kims who exploit the Parks, the Parks who ride the crest of societal privilege unaware that their good fortune is built on the misery of others.

You stood in front of Tan, not knowing what to do or how to approach the situation at all but you wanted this for so long. You've wanted to confess your feelings for your best friend, ever since he came back from the U.S.

You were both walking in the streets at night, enjoying the cool night breeze as he took you home.

Y/n: Tan? You questioned, as you stopped and bit your lip.

Tan: Yes?

Y/n: Have you ever wondered, if there's someone out there just waiting to see you everyday. Someone that would run into your arms, happy to see you even if it is the next day...that would kiss you all over you face when your together. That'll do anything to protect you, even if it meant getting into a fight?

Tan: Like?

Y/n: What do you mean like?

Tan: Like who? Who would I wonder about? Who would you wonder about, like this y/n?

Y/n: Well, it's quite simple really...um...all those things I said their about you. That's how I feel about you Tan...i like you. You said, as your fingers intertwining as you played with your thumb.

Tan smirked, as he took a step closer wrapping his arms around you.

Tan: And I was going to confess my feelings to you first. Guess I was too slow on this one he laughed, as he kissed your forehead.

Choi Yoong-Do

You placed the bandage on Young-do face, and disinfectant his lip. After all wounds were cleaned, you threw away the papers and closed the first aid pack. Sighing loundly you turned around fast hitting Young-do on the arm, repeating the action until he grabbed both your wrists.

Young-do:What the hell. Are you crazy?

Y/n: Why? Why?

Young-do: Why what?

Y/n: Why do you keep fighting? W...why. You asked, as tears started running fast down your cheeks.

Young-do let go of your wrists, on instinct your hands wiped away the tears as you backed up.

Y/n: You always scare me, you always make me worry...i shouldn't have to see the person I love more then anything hurt like this. You said fast, not realizing what you just said.

Young-do: You love me? He questioned, smirking as he came closer.

Y/n: W...what...no. You replied fast, as you tried to run away.

Your attempt to run off failed, which caused you to trip on the table sending you flying towards the floor but Young-do, soon caught you in his arms preventing you from hurting.

Y/n: Y...you can let me go now.

Young-do: Why would I let you go, after you confessed like. He smiled, as he pulled you closer. Then I wouldn't get to do this. We're his last words, before he kissed you.

Yoon Cha-Young

You laughed at your best friend, as he played with your little brother. He was so sweet to Dong-min, and acted like the older male figure in his life since your father wasn't around much.

Y/n: Dong-min, time for bed.

Dong-min: Ahh...can Cha-Young take me to bed?

Y/n: Dong-min, you always tell me your a big boy and that you can do it on your ow-

Dong-min: I'm five, I've changed my mind. Please. He asked, with puppy eyes.

Y/n: If it's fine with Cha-Young, it's fine with me.

Cha-Young: Come on little man, time for bed. He spoke, picking him up like a rocket and making flight sounds as he ran to Dong-min room.

Shaking your head, you cleaned the while Cha-Young is busy with your brother. After a while he came down, a smile plastered on his face. Without another single hesitation l, you grabbed Cha-Young by the neck pulling him down as you crashed your lips to his.

Cha-Young kissed you instantly, your arms moved from his neck to his back pulling him closer if that was possible.

Cha-Young: Y/n? He whispered, his hot breath tickling your lips.

Y/n: Yes?

Cha-Young: Why did we...i mean we're best friends and-

Y/n: I love you Cha-Young. Always have, always will.

Cha-Young: Shall we call this a friendship, to relationship? He questioned, as he stroked your cheek.

Y/n: You want that?

Cha-Young: Mm. He nodded, as he leaned down to kiss you again.

Lee Hyo-shin

You were at his home studying with him, when you heard yelling downstairs. Hyo-shin, was getting some water for the both of you when his father came home yelling like a maniac.

You tried to find your headphones, not wanting to listen to anything that was going on but you couldn't find them. You didn't know where Hyo-shin put then. Now here you were, eyes closed tightly as your hands covered your ears.

Not knowing that Hyo-shin entered the room, he saw you and walked over removing your hands from your ears.

Y/n: Are you okay? You asked, your hands finding their way on his face.

Hyo-shin: I'm okay. He nodded, as he closed his eyes.

Y/n: Don't lie to me. You replied, standing to your feet.

Hyo-shin: I'm sorry, if you heard all those things y/n. You should go home, your brother is probably worried.

Y/n: I'll let Young-do know I'll be staying longer, since we...um...well I'll find an excuse. I just need to be here with my friend.

Hyo-shin shook in your arms, as he started crying. He was starting to breath heavily, which made you pull him into your arms. Hyo-shin's head was laid on your shoulder, as he kept crying while you stroked his hair.

Y/n: Hyo-shin. I promise, I'll always be here for you no matter what. The darkest night may come, and I'll find my way to you. The worst thunderstorm or snowstorm may appear, and I will run through it to be by your side. I'll hold you in my arms everytime nothing feel like it makes sense. I'll do this all for you Hyo-shin, all for the man I love.

Hyo-shin didn't respond, as he just kept his arms around your waist. You got the courage as you kissed his temple.

Hyo-shin: Promise, you'll never leave me y/n.

Y/n: I promise, I'll never leave you Hyo-shin.

Hyo-shin: I love you, y/n.

Y/n: I love you too.

Jo Myung-soo

You groaned as you sat across from Myung-soo, watching him act so cute as he always does.

Myung-soo, along with Young-do were your best friends and you couldn't imagine it without them. Tan was your twin brother, who went to study in the U.S.

Young-do: Y/n, what do you think? He asked as he placed his arm around your shoulder.

Y/n: Huh?

Young-do: About going to the movies?

Y/n: Oh...that. Sorry, I was thinking about something.

Bo-Na: Really? About what?

Y/n: I was just thinking about this idiot. You pointed at Myung-soo.

Myung-soo: Why me?

Y/n: I was wondering how, I could fall for someone so cute, and pure hearted like you. You confessed, infront of Young-do and Bo-Na.

Myung-soo: WHAT? He yelled, as he dropped his pizza in the box. Y...you like me?

Y/n: What? Do you not like the fact that I like you? Do you feel uncomfortable with the situation? You wondered, as you asked him questions.

Myung-soo got up from his seat, walking past you which made you think he regected you. But unbeknownst to you, he swived around and kissed you on the cheek.

Myung-soo giggled, as he ran off to his red room. Shaking your head, you looked over at Young-do who laughed at his friend.

Young-do: I guess he feels the same way y/n. But he better watch it, if he crosses the line he'll be be-

Y/n: Don't finish that sentance Young-do.

Young-do: Or what?

Y/n: Or...well I don't know I'll find something.

Young-do: No need. He whispered in your ear, as he gave you a side hug. Besides, one promise I'll keep with Tan is to protect you.

2017 (10th) Korea Drama Awards - October 2, 2017

Excellent Actress (Song Ha-Yoon)

 Birinci bölüme 3 kere baştan başlayıp daha sonra izlemek için ötelediğim bir diziydi. İtaewon Class izledikten sonra bu dizide de Park Seo-Joon ‘un oynadığını öğrenince izlemek için nedenim olmuş oldu. Hatta oyuncunun o olduğuna çok zor ikna oldum diyebilirim. Gerçekten tipinden önce oyunculuğunu beğendiğim aktörler arasında bir numaraya yerleştirdim. Kısaca konusundan bahsedip yorumlara geçeyim. Çocukluktan beri arkadaş olan 4 kişinin hayallerinin peşinden koşma macerasını izliyoruz. “Slice of life” diyebileceğimiz tarzda bir konusu var. Aslında birinci bölüme 3 kez tekrar başlamamdaki neden de biraz bu durağanlıktan kaynaklanıyordu. 3.bölüme geldikten sonra dizi akmaya başlıyor.

Dizide hikayelerini anlatmaya lise yıllarından başlanıyor. İlerleyen bölümlerde dahada küçüklüklerine dair flashbackler de gösteriyorlar. Senaryo da ikinci kadın, ikindi adam hikayeleri olsa da sinir bozucu değillerdi. Gereğinden fazla uzatılmıyor. En kendine çeken tarafı ise genç yaşta büyük başarılar elde etmiş ütopik karakterler yerine, listede kurdukları hayallerin hiçbirini gerçekleştirememiş hayatın içinde bocalayan karakterler olmasıydı. Eskiden beri refleks olarak birbirlerini koruyup kollamaları izleyicide güzel duygular uyandırmayı başarıyordu.

Zengin, kariyer sahibi karakterler yerine daha normal hayatları görmek, dizinin içine çekilmeye yetiyordu. İlk bölümlerde Kwak Dong-Yeon’u namı diğer Vincenzo’nun brother’ını konuk oyuncu tadında görmek beni mutlu etti. Ayrıca hikayede kendi ayakları üstünde durabilen kadın karakterler görmek her zaman artı puan kazandırdığını söylemeliyim. Yan karakterler olsun, ana karakterler olsun hepsi güçlü bir resim çiziyordu.

Park Seo-Joon’un oyunculuğuna o kadar kaptırıyorsunuz ki, dizideki gizli özneler gözden kaçabiliyor. O nedenle bir tanesini belirtmekte fayda olduğunu düşünüyorum. Park Moo-Bin karakterini canlandıran Choi Woo-Sik. Hem sevimli, hem sempatik olmasının yanı sıra eğlenceli bir oyuncuydu. Tanıştığıma memnun oldum. Bir nevi ikinci adam olarak diziye girdi.

Konuya dönecek olursam; Ko Dong-Man(Park Seo-Joon), lise yıllarda tekvando sporu ile ilgilenen başarılı bir öğrencidir. Bir turnuva sırasında sakat kardeşi için şike mevzusuna karışır ve bilinçli bir şekilde yenilir. Bu olaydan sonra kendisine bu durumu yediremediği için tekvandoyu bırakır. Onun adına; olmak istediği kişi ve olması gereken kişi arasında kendi ile yaşadığı mücadeleye tanık oluyoruz. Choi Ae-Ra(Kim Ji-Won)’nın ise lise yıllarında tek hayali spiker olmaktır. Ancak büyüyüp hayatın içinde kaybolmuştur. Hayatını devam ettirebilmek için geçici işlerde çalışmış, hayali olan mikrofonu ise bir mağazada resepsiyonda kullanabilmektedir. Baek Seol-Hee (Song Ha-Yoon), lisede hayali evlenip anne olmak olan bu kızımız ise, bir şirkette yoğun saatler mesai harcayan bir çalışan olmuştur. Yükselme hırsları olmayan kendi halinde bir kızdır. Choi Ae-Ra’nın yakın arkadaşıdır. Aynı zamanda Ko Dong-Man’ın yakın arkadaşı olan Kim Joo-Man (Ahn Jae-Hong) uzun zamandır sevgilidirler. Kim Joo-Man (Ahn Jae-Hong) ise Seol-Hee ile aynı şirkette yönetim kadrosunda çalışandır. Şirkette sürekli üstleri tarafından kullanılan, yükselmek için her türlü muameleye göz yuman bu arkadaşımız, hayatta bir şeylere adım atmak için pozisyonunun düzelmesini beklemektedir.

Aslında izlerken beni rahatsız eden bir şey olmadı. Gereksiz duygusallıklar, hırslar, tripler, yanlış anlamalar yani olumsuz hiçbir şey yoktu. Oyuncular ve oyunculuklarda çok yerinde ve dozundaydı. Kimse dizi içerisinde olmasaydı keşke demedim. Kim Ji-Won’u “Descendants of the sun” dizisinde sert asker rolü ile hatırlıyorum. O da Park Seo-Joon gibi bambaşka bir karakter ve oyunculuk ile bizi şaşırtmayı başardı. Başrol dörtlüsünün enerjileri öyle yüksekti ki, her biri parıl parıl parlıyordu.

Dizinin belgesel olmasını bir yerde engellemeleri gerekiyor, o yüzden kabul edilebilir güzelliklerdi.

Günün sonunda toparlayacak olursak, Kore dizilerinin genelinde ilk 3 bölümü atlatmak diye bir kavram var. Bu dizi de hayattan bir kesit anlatmasından dolayı bir iki bölümden sonra açılıyor. Güzel zaman geçirtiyor. Tavsiye eder miyim, evet ederim.

My summer revisiting K-dramas

The summer might not be over yet, but my summer break is days from ending. I go back to work on Monday so I won't be able to binge watch k-dramas like I've done these couple of weeks. I've been revisiting dramas that I love and haven't seen in a while and it has felt like seeing a friend I hadn't seen in a long time.
