why i think about this song: chris christodoulou descended from the heavens to bless our ears with this track off the risk of rain ost. risk of rain is already a beautifully made game and this track underscoring the final level almost brings a tear to my eye. the track indeed does a beautiful job conveying how this is the end of a journey that has irreversibly changed your character, maybe for the worse. i find a sense of hope in this track, but also see hints of despair and uncertainty alongside it. could not recommend this game more.

It’s in 7/8 time, but the drums play on the offbeat, so they play on beat 2, 4, 6, BUT THEN THE NEXT BAR THEY PLAY ON 1, 3, 5, and 7

IT IS OSCILLATING BETWEEN THE ON AND OFF BEAT.

ANTARCTIC OSCILLATION.

And then they start playing the semiquavers and it’s just like mmm yes please

Chris Christodoulou was originall a drummer and IT SHOWS

His drum beats are so simple but so so so so so so so so glorious.
