honestly christopher is so cooked this season. he has the two most batshit insane idiot clowns (and maybe carla but is she even confirmed to be in any episodes this year?) trying to give him relationship advice. he needs help asking out his crush and his two options for advice are eddie “had a panic attack so severe he thought he was dying at the thought of having a future with a woman” diaz and evan “recovering sex addict who ignores red flags like he’s red/green colorblind” buckley. this kid is about to have the most unhinged first date of all time and we as the audience are going to have a ball watching it unfold
Hey if anyone cares, it sure seems like Buck is looking at a picture of Chris and Shannon here.
This picture.
That was by Eddie's front door for almost four years.
Until he moved it to his fridge in Death and Taxes. Which was all about Eddie reckoning with Shannon's ghost — coming to terms with her death and their life together — and finally allowing himself to move forward. Specifically to move forward romantically.
And now, it's on Christopher's desk.
Christopher talking to Buck about Shannon? The only time that has almost happened was Breaking Point — when Chris ran away to Buck's because he was mad at Eddie for dating — but when Buck brought Shannon up, Chris kind of moved past it.
A real, honest to god, conversation between Buck and Chris about Shannon? In episode 1?? Oh, we're in it now...
Also the lighting in these stills looks different, so I think we're looking at two different scenes: one with Buck, one with Eddie, two conversations about Shannon?
Buck and Eddie couldn't be together until Eddie reckoned with Shannon — because he'd been married to a ghost this whole time. I imagine Chris has some feelings to process before he could accept his dad having another life partner. Because his dad dating is one thing, but Buck is forever...
christopher is going to have the weirdest perception of romantic love when he grows up because his parents were broken up or fighting or in and out of the picture when his mom was alive, and then when his dad finally started dating again he kept his girlfriend an arm's length away at all times and had panic attacks whenever someone accurately perceived that relationship as romantic. but this strange guy that his dad made his best friend on his first day on the job in la now helps chris with his math homework and with baking cookies for his class and takes care of him when his dad is hospitalised and organizes holiday get-togethers so chris can spend them with his dad and is literally always a call away for both of them and keeps the doors of his house eternally open for them and takes him to the zoo all the time. and you'll never believe which of these people eddie apparently actively tried to kiss.
Eddie Diaz basically pulled an uno reverse on Buck for a relationship. Shannon and Eddie got married because of Christopher. And in Eddie's head, he was like, "Baby trapping=marriage."
So what does he do?
THIS MAN WAS LIKE, "BECAUSE, EVAN, SINCE THIS IS THE ONLY WAY I KNOW HOW TO PROPOSE, I'M LEGALLY HOLDING YOU TO BE MY CHILD'S OTHER FATHER!!!"
This man has never known how to have a normal romantic relationship, and Buck's sitting here thinking a death doula truly gets him.
BUCK, messing about with CHRISTOPHER, throwing a pokeball at EDDIE: Eddie, I choose you!
EDDIE, not looking up from his book and catching it: You need an Ultra ball to catch this Legendary Pokémon.
i can't believe binge watched all 6 seasons of 9-1-1 in 6 days just for buck and eddie not to kiss. like they're actually married with a child wdym they haven't kissed yet ?? and aren't dating ?? like who the FUCK is even natalia bro.
season 7, abc, my mental stability is in your fucking hands
2 Times Buck freaked out about Chris growing up more than Eddie, 2 times Buck freaked Eddie out even more about Chris growing up, and 1 time they calmed each other down.
