Pride & Prejudice - Steggy AU
Tumblr media
Coming soon* to an AO3 near you
Born as the second daughter of the Carter family with no rank and no fortune, Peggy has spent her entire life being accosted by her mother to marry well - and marry soon.
The arrival of one egregiously wealthy Mr. James Barnes sends her mother in a particularly frenetic tizzy, determined to make introductions in hopes of setting one of her daughters up with him. However, it’s Mr. Barnes’ mysteriously dour friend that catches Peggy’s attention. She might even go as far to call him handsome - if only his own pride hadn’t mortified her own.
Created for Steggy Week 2023 Day 4: Family and Friends.
I chose this particular story for this prompt because the source material is so family centred!
Thank you @steggyfanevents you’ve created another monster that I now have to write.
Starring:
Peggy Carter as Elizabeth Bennet
Steve Rogers as Fitzwilliam Darcy
James “Bucky” Barnes as Charles Bingley
Natasha Romanoff as Jane Bennet
Amanda Carter as Mrs. Bennet
Harrison Carter as Mr. Bennet
Jemma Simmons as Mary Bennet
Daisy Johnson as Lydia Bennet
Kora as Catherine “Kitty” Bennet
Rose Roberts as Charlotte Lucas
Fred Wells as George Wickham
Daniel Sousa as Mr. Collins
Miriam Fry as Lady Catherine de Bourgh
Dottie Underwood as Miss Bingley
Angie Martinelli as Georgiana Darcy
Colonel and Mrs. Phillips as Mr. and Mrs. Gardiner
*soon is a relative term based on the social construct we call time, that is dependent on varying factors, including but not limited to: muse’s cooperation, time and energy to write, and the writer’s overall potential to be easily distracted by other WIP’s and ideas, as is evidenced by this new creation here.

I think Chris evans, Timothée Chalamet, Henry Cavill and Robert Patterson fan girls are the most delusional and obsessed, but I always give these actors the side eye for never publicly defending their girlfriends from harassment. I understand not having to respond to every single piece of criticism directly towards you as a celeb, but they’re always quiet when their partners get harassed like crazy. Like fka twigs and rob were together for 3 years not once did he stand up for her when his fans racially abused her online and was comparing her to slaves and monkeys 🥴🥴🥴
Yeah in some ways I think they (including the partners) expect it on some level bc truthfully I don't know of any gf or wife or whatever that hasn't been harassed but I do think there comes a point where something needs to be said. FKA Twigs' cellophane is proof that that shit got to her and it'd gotten to a point where she felt like Rob needed to defend her and he didn't. I periodically hate him for three minutes and 24 seconds of my life 😭

Have y'all watched one of my all time favorite movies? 2004's "Cellular" starring Chris Evans. It's amazing, it's basically a period piece and I think everyone should see it. Like it's an action movie that hinges on cell phone usage. The entire movie is like "THESE CELLULAR TELEPHONES SURE ARE USEFUL!!!"
At one point he goes through a TUNNEL and almost LOSES HIS SIGNAL! It's amazing. A work of art. I try to watch it once a year.
He spends the entire film like this
Tumblr media
Distressed
Tumblr media
and on the phone
Tumblr media
Please,if you haven't seen this I'm begging you. Watch it. It's my favorite type of action movie. You KNOW the good guy is gonna win and we're just along for the ride!

Orchestrated...?
Did we get an article about Chris saying he was an alone guy?
Now if you notice the events that have taken place since the Nick's Podcast broadcast, you will see some "pr" pieces again carefully placed.
It had not been long since the Podcast went up and we got a well-edited TikTok video confirming the cringe rs by the "brother"? Does it seem sus? It felt too "sus" to me.
The same picture that was used for the "pr couple" in the TikTok video was used by one of the mags "UniLad" Does it seem "sus" again? To me, yes, it absolutely does!
The Podcast went up just a day before the strike started. No work can be promoted but Scott Evans, who has a role in a big movie and the PR couple's names are still making rounds in the media. Some big gossip mags are pushing the story. Now when people who would read these articles, might go check out the whole Podcast since "Chris Evans" is mentioned. In the podcast what are they going to listen to more about? The Barbie movie and Scott's role in it!
Media promotion does not happen "accidentally" Everything is planned well ahead. The content, promotion, even the minute details! People have been expecting the strike, they knew what was about to happen. The strike did not start suddenly. The Podcast was recorded 3 weeks ago, in the last week of June. They might not have planned it months ago but due to the expected upcoming period of no promotion for the actors, they might have decided just at the last minute to go with discussing the dating life of Chris Evans to draw more attention to Scott and also to keep the pr shitshow relevant in the media.
All of it just proves how orchestrated and fake this mess is! It does not happen for a private "real" couple. No real couple needs to shove the relationship down the throats of gp and fans during a strike. They don't have to prove "it is real" over and over again. It only happens when there is "some" other interest at play and in this case like it or not, all three of them need their names out in the media.
Again, just a theory. I can be wrong.

No one is putting him on a pedestal. I literally just said he’s gonna find happiness, in his own capacity, that’s all. We all deserve happiness. We all stem from the same source and we all make mistakes. That’s why we are here for. Just because you have evolved doesn’t make other people bad or less worthy.
He’s not a bad soul and being so judgmental and malicious without knowing his story is very telling. We don’t know what he’s going through, no one knows. I always wish everyone only the best, not only him.
I’m a bit more realistic and logical because I don’t agree everyone on this planet deserves to be happy. Do you feel that way about murderers or people with nefarious intentions? I don’t.
Chris has purposely shown who he is. He’s okay with “marrying” a racist Nazi yacht whore and is PUBLICLY seen with her. This isn’t a “we all mistakes” scenario. This is Chris making multiple mistakes REPEATEDLY and delusional fans, like you, making excuses for his shitty behavior.
Also, since I know what this motherfucker is like behind the scenes, I can be “judgmental” and “malicious” because that’s what he deserves. It’s also how I know he doesn’t deserve a queen or this mythical empress unicorn. He’s a piece of shit. Period. Point blank. If that offends you, then yes, you most definitely have him on a pedestal.
I’m not here for delulu Chris Evans fans, so kindly fuck off.

The problem with Chris is that, while Marvel movies should be classified as action movies more than anything else, people don't really associate him with action movies. People don't associate him with anything other than CA, and even then they often have to be reminded that it's Chris Evans who played him. All of the older action stars that have been mentioned worked long and hard to get where they are now. Chris? Not so much. You might be right about the non-lead thing...
I agree with you in that weird disconnect people have when connecting the "superhero" movies to being "action" movies. Perhaps it's because that first phase of Marvel movies had such interconnected plot lines that people just forgot they were watching a ton of action set pieces back to back. But to me any movie with climactic fight scenes are action movies, no matter how you hyphenate them ("action thriller," "action period piece"). But is there a single Marvel superhero movie that isn't also an action movie?

ugh imagine this baby getting all dressed up for an event he's been invited to, but his daddy's too busy that day to accompany him :'( cue him pouting and sighing during the whole thing, missing his daddy real bad 🥺 (maybe his daddy makes it up to him afterwards, peeling that nice suit off of him and kissing that frown away that doesn't belong on his sweet face 💞)
https://www.tumblr.com/laroj/181702187423
[Link] to young Chris Evans in the period piece The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, he's wearing a suit--black jacket with a white shirt, waist coat, and bow tie.
You're so right! I mean--
Tumblr media
Just look at him! Poor thing needs his Daddy!
Also, though, this is so, so adorable!! Poor baby, pouting and sighing and moping around. He just wants his Daddy :(
His wants to be escorted around the party with a big palm splaid over the small of his back, warm and just demanding enough. Or maybe a hand at his elbow. Or, or, God, a hand tugging at the collar of his shirt, adjusting his tie for him, and taking a moment to squeeze the back of his neck.
Parties are so bland without someone to guide him through them. He doesn't know how to be fancy. He doesn't know how to do this. It's his association with Daddy that gets him here. So, what's the point without him? *huff*
I don't know about you, but I think this baby's Daddy looks something like this...

Good thing with a Daddy like that, Steve will be rewarded for his good behavior 👀

P.S. This is very reminiscent of K's (@/howdoyousleep3) Daddy James and Stevie Baby, so if you enjoy this kind of thing, check out her masterlist for them here!

Unless Kaia massively improves, shes prob going to to typecast based off her looks n lack of acting talent* (emoting and voice wise). She may have roles where its different (i guess the AHS one counts) bt so far in Bottoms she played a popular monotone girl, in this Laura Dern series shes going to b playing a manicurist (Palm Royale), in this Max Mingella film shes playing a social media star (Shell) and in this other movie shes rumored to b playing a gf of Chris Evans wife. All side characters and all where her looks/image are more of the focus or shes a gf (at least what it seems).
I cant personally see her doing a period piece or doing smthn more challenging that requires emoting a lot. She's going to prob go after those roles eventually n i wuldnt doubt a casting director wuld give her a chance lol whether ppl lik it is a differnt story
Yea, you're probably right Anon

Christopher Robert Evans played Robert Pronge in The Iceman movie but why the weird beard and hair style
You don’t like the beard and hair 🤭 what is wrong with this??
Tumblr media
Honestly I’m more turned off by the teeth. They really did everything to make this man not look like Chris. Another underrated performance. He does these darker characters well. CHRISTOPHER!!! Do more! On the flip side, roles like these can be mentally challenging.
Back to the hair, and beard, this is a period piece. It’s not modern day. So some of the styling is for the era. Even down to the glasses. Honestly, without the wig, this beard didn’t bother me too much, although not my favorite

Ok, before I came here because I found it interesting to see how they dismantled the lie behind Chris Evans' marriage, because I realize that there are many gaps in that relationship that suggest that it is nothing more than a PR, but after the party VF the hatred and envy towards that woman on the part of you and your anons is chilling, they focus so much on discrediting her and making CE look like she was a victim in all this, my God he is the perpetuator of this whole show along with her work team, and you believe that she is the bad one, my comment is specifically directed at you, the person behind this blog, your hatred of that woman has led you to publish rantings about other mentally insane people, the tarot thing is the great evidence of this, do you seriously believe all that nonsense that any crazy person writes to you and you just go and publish it? That takes away from the seriousness of your content, I left you a message yesterday in which I advised you to leave this for a moment for your emotional and mental peace, and apparently you ignored it because you are more interested in pouring hatred towards AB. What if it turns out that Chris Evans is really married to her and they are really together and they really plan to increase their family soon? Wouldn't that make you feel worse for being in so much denial about that relationship? I'll tell you, for me they are married, whether the world believes it or not, they already have the label and if they are, they carry everything that that implies, such as having children, his family approves whether the fans like it or not, The day that Chris Evan and that girl announce a pregnancy in whatever way they decide to conceive it is not going to erase the truth behind it and the truth is that they have a commitment beyond marriage and will be united for life through that child if they ever had it. My advice to you: free yourself, maybe two years from now when he announces a divorce and has already had a child with her, you will no longer be here supporting him and adoring him as you do and when you find out that news he will even give you Anyway, you will realize how stupid you were for having wasted so much time and energy behind a machine to defend the honor of someone who never had it. I wish you the best and I hope you can get over CE soon, be a fan of his work, not his personal life, what he decides to do with his life is his problem, not his fans.
Hey, Anon.
Sorry you felt ignored. And you really don't see my point.
Why do you think I keep saying that I want this to be over? I'm going to leave for longer periods of time because of school in a few weeks. Something that's really important to me.
If he's really married okay. By then I won't give any fucks about who he has in his personal life, he'll just be another eye candy on a long list of eye candy.
And you think I won't tear him to pieces? I started to tear into him the second he walked onto the red carpet with those colors.
I'm savoring my last few weeks without something important to occupy me. I'm basically on my last few days of vacation, so to speak. LET ME ENJOY THEM AND USE THEM AS I LIKE!
And if I'm stupid for this, I'll gladly laugh at myself. Because the Lord knows I find myself ridiculous for acting like this and that in high school. Trust me, it's a fact of life, that a person will look at their past, laugh and be embarrassed.
And you can stop reading my content and block me for all I care.
My blog, my rules, my only place to vent anything and air it out. And I don't need anymore judgement for that.

Pain Hustlers
Tumblr media
Pain Hustlers had its moment, but it was mostly dry. It's like they had the right pieces, but they didn't know how to put them together. However, It's not as bad as people have been saying.
Look, if the movie is about a single mother who needs to do shitty things for her kids, I'm going to eat it up. Like, get your coins mama. She didn't do anything wrong.
The movie doesn't have enough sparkle to hold for 2 hours. In every movie like this, there is a moment when everything goes to shit, and things get serious, but Pain Hustlers didn't know how to do that. There was no transition, or at least not a good one.
I feel like Chris Evans' talent got lost after handling his shield back to Marvel because he was good in Gifted and Snowpiercer. Maybe it has to do with the directors idk, but he was a little miscast for me, and don't ask me why.
I love Emily Blunt, I think she is one of the best actresses right now. She loves to do this kind of terrible movie, and she always makes it watchable. She is going to make that movie her bitch.
She was a stripper in the first 10 minutes of the movie. That was hot. Then they put her in a pantsuit to distract us. It worked for me. She looked so sexy I didn't care about anything else.
Emily Blunt carried the whole movie by herself, and that's why I love her because she draws attention to herself every time she is on screen. She always acts like rent is due, it doesn't matter how shitty the script is, go watch The girl on the Train (2016) if you don't believe me.
I hope at least she had fun doing this movie, but next time she feels like in a silly goofy movie she should get on the phone with a female director or at least a movie with a big female cast.
I think she also needs to renew her LGBT card. How do you start your career playing a manipulative queer teen and then forget about it? Get her in a queer movie, not a period drama, something fun.
Btw, Doug Lima, get your shit together and make an Edge of Tomorrow prequel. Forget about Tom Cruise.

Coming Attractions - July 2022
Tumblr media
As usual, we present monthly previews of new movies being released. These are the movies that will be hitting your local cinemas (and streaming services) this month:
July 1st
Minions: The Rise of Gru - The second Minions film and the fifth in the greater Despicable Me universe marks what is likely the final pre-COVID film pushed by the pandemic. The film will hit theaters this week almost exactly two years after its original July 3, 2020 release date. I purchased and built a Rise of Gru Lego set in 2020 for my son, which has already been destroyed and rebuilt many times over.
The Forgiven - Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain star in this drama from writer/director John Michael McDonagh based on a 2012 novel of the same name. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival last September to moderately positive reviews.
Mr. Malcolm’s List - One of my favorite subgenres of films is those with screenplays based on books that are adapted by the novel’s author (previously discussed on the S&C here). The newest entry to this club is the period piece Mr. Malcolm’s List. Though in the case of Mr. Malcolm’s List things are a bit different than the cut-and-dry novel and adaptation. Author Suzanne Allain self-published the novel Mr. Malcolm’s List in 2009, then turned around and wrote the screenplay which was later discovered on The Black List. Then a short film was made of the screenplay in 2018, which led to the novel being officially published in 2020, and then a feature film soon followed. Quite the turn of events for the film which stars Freida Pinto.
July 8th
Thor: Love and Thunder - Taika Waititi is once again at the helm with his follow-up to Thor: Ragnarok. The big news for Love and Thunder is the return of Natalie Portman as Jane Foster (last officially seen in 2013′s Thor: The Dark World), but this time Foster is wielding Mjolnir. Christian Bale joins the cast as the villainous Gorr the God Butcher.
The Sea Beast - Coming to Netflix today is the animated sea-faring adventure film, The Se Beast. Who knew legendary sea monsters could be so much fun?!
July 15th
Where the Crawdads Sing - Daisy Edgar-Jones stars in this upcoming adaptation of a best-selling novel of the same name. This mystery drama features the new original song “Carolina” from Taylor Swift, so you might as well put that Oscar nomination in pen now.
The Gray Man - Hitting theaters today and Netflix next week is the newest film from the Russo Brothers, The Gray Man. This action thriller stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, and Rege-Jean Page. See it in theaters or wait a week and watch it at home. Your call.
July 22nd
Nope - Writer/director Jordan Peele is back with his third film, Nope, starring Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. Do I need to say more? Nope. Go see it.
Persuasion - Dakota Johnson stars in this Jane Austen adaptation of Persuasion coming to Netflix this month. Richard E. Grant and Henry Golding co-star alongside Johnson.
July 29th
DC League of Super-Pets - Dwayne Johnson is Krypto the Superdog and Kevin Hart is Ace the Bat-Hound in this animated film about the pets of DC Comics’ biggest superheroes. When Superman is in trouble, only Krypto and his pet friends can save the day!
Vengeance - B.J. Novak makes his directorial debut (as well as wrote and stars) with this upcoming black comedy about a New York journalist and podcaster who travels to Texas to investigate a friend’s death.
Now for a quick look ahead to August, my top picks for next month are Bullet Train and Prey.

HANGING OUT AT SMALL’S LIVE #10: 8-12 MAY 2022, MEZZROW’S
ALMOST COUCH TOUR: AFTER THE BAD PLUS
ETHAN IVERSON with Peter Washington and Al Foster, 16 APRIL 2022, both sets
ORRIN EVANS with Matthew Parrish and Vince Ector, 30 APRIL 2022, both sets
The Bad Plus has opened the new year at Jazz St Louis for most of this century/millenium and I have joined the tradition most years since I’ve been going to the venue. We were the first place ORRIN EVANS played as he came on board for TBP 2.0 and that’s the band I know best as I saw ETHAN IVERSON just once. It is though his versions of the distinctive Reid Anderson and Dave King tunes that are TBP’s book. I skipped the chance to see TBP 3.0 with Chris Speed and Ben Monder as my sax with guitar curiosity hadn’t posed itself.
I come to realize that TBP is Anderson and King, both in the compositions but the angularity of the playing. Iverson has a sparer style (and an almost academic traditionalism) and Evans is fuller sound with a compositional swing (I’ve just begun an Andrew Hill exploration so I am probably hearing/projecting my first impressions too widely). Anderson and King could use both and at least by now Evans seems more in line with their vision. But Iverson was with them from the beginning.
Still IVERSON has a writer’s mantle with occasional New Yorker articles and his Do The Math blog. One of those NYer, maybe the New York Review of Books even, pieces evoked his friendship with Stanley Grouch. At the risk of projecting first impressions again, whatever intellectual affinities, Iverson musically has stepped away from TBP’s power trio of jazz aesthetic to being an archivist with a whiff of traditionalism around him. He plays tunes. Period. Now the chance to play with Peter Washington (their first collaboration) and Al Foster (just exceptional, sensitive to the whole of the tune and able to shade and comment) could well have suggested such a gig of familiars. And at each set he invoked Duke Ellington who said “once you’ve selected the musicians the complosition has begun. But I have noticed him playing more Basie than Ellington in a duo setting with Thomas Morgan or his album of standards with Tom Harrell or his work with Mark Turner including in Billy Hart’s band.
These sets of theirs were the second night of the mid-April run and most of the tunes were repeated. Good ones to be sure—some swing (Stompin’ at the Savoy and Moten’s Swing), All the Things You Are not necessarily bopped, but Denzil Best’s Wee was, Con Alma which wasn’t, These Foolish Things, The Shadow of Your Smile oddly, and Tadd Dameron’s Good Bait were all repeated. There were two different Parker Tunes (Confirmation and Now’s The Time) and two Monk’s (Round Midnight and Well You Needn’t).
Iverson is worthy of such a rhythm section and they served him well too.
EVANS played with old Philly friends Matthew Parrish and Vince Ector (they seem to be teaching at Princeton which seems an odd mix, but okay). Solid enough players but not Washington and Foster. Their first set was a nice display of Evans’s call it discursive compositional style—discursive in that the structures spread out beyond AABA or blues song forms and so can explore musical space. There’s a grit and swing that some such compositional players lack. But, unlike Iverson and more like Anderson/King’s TBP, he was trying to see the possibilities.
The second set was at midnight, so there was a bit of the jam session to it, with bassist Alexander Claffey and drummer Kyle Poole sitting in for two tunes each. They did play a tune together, but they interacted with Parrish and Ector, not just Evans. So there was a Monk tune, a blues with Johnny O’Neal singing (rich and swinging), and Tony Hewitt’s vocals (nicely thin and pleasantly vulnerable) on Alone Together. It was nice to hear more Evans but I am not drawn to the catch as can of the jam session.
While I don’t think this listening exercise quite illuminates TBP, it was a contrasting view of the possibilities.
