Christian Lacroix Haute Couture - 'Bride,' Fall/Winter 2009
Fall/Winter 2009 was the last ever collection from Christian Lacroix's Haute Couture line. An amazing designer but bad businessman, Lacroix's company had been put into administration by the retailer group which owned it. His staff was reduced to twelve. He pushed forward with the 2009 collection by raising private funding on his own and negotiating with models that they would only get paid 50 euros to walk the runway.
Lacroix's clothes were always more historical pastiche fantasy rather than real, wearable clothes. But, my goodness, were they beautiful.
