On the one hand, I work full time and would probably struggle to commit to much, but on the other hand it'd be cool for The Chosen tumblr fandom to do some kind of Christmas event. Especially since we probably won't get any more Christmas-themed Chosen content outside of "The Shepherd" and "The Messengers" (which is fine, they're great and it would be WAY too much for Dallas & co. to deliver something every year). Anyone here have ideas or wanna brainstorm?

Y'know for being a family-friendly Christian radio drama Adventures in Odyssey had some insane and dark plots.

Like there was an entire saga about an evil television corporation attempting to brainwash the entire world with radio waves. And there were people getting assassinated during that arc. Like a woman got run off the road and died. And one character had to fake his own death and go into witness protection.

Or there was the time one of the MCs went into hiding because a religious conservative and Athestic liberal terrorist groups were hunting him. And a small twist was that both groups were working together the entire time.

And that's only just scratching the surface.

Seraphina 👼

To make up for missing Day 4 of Cringetober I decided to work on my oc Seraphina. I used Ethic from TedEd's Think Like A Coder as her faceclaim (amazing show btw). This could also count for crossver ship as even tho Seraphina is for Angel Wars Guardian Force, I also see her with Superbook's version of Michael.

For the body I used Kira, altering it so that Sera could look more proportionate. While her theme color is pink I added a black and silver variant for a lunar theming. For the hair I used a wig from Classy Crown's Boutique. Backgrounds I downloaded off Superbook's website. All in all this took me 4 hours to make and FIFTY EIGHT LAYERS

Superbook Angels

Barely have personality except for maybe Michael

In fact Michael comes off as a deus ex machina/plot device than a character

All of them white with only variation being blond hair, brown hair or no hair

Borderline sameface syndrome

No girl angels

Dies too easily

Barely see them help humans which sucks ;_;

Only humans they (Michael) help are two annoying kids

Angel Wars Angels

Cooler spaceships/vehicle designs

All the angels have personality, flaws&quirks included so they feel & look like real people

Much better reflection of humanity bc there's actual diversity (three of the six are poc) including different body types, facial features, etc

FEMALE ANGELS! THAT AREN'T TOKENS NOR SEXUALIZED AT ANY POINT!!

Ariana especially is a badass and not a token love interest\damsel in distress

Archangel Michael feels like an actual character, not a deus ex machina plot device

Actually see them directly help humans

Not annoying kids well maybe except for Eli but even he has his moments of badassery

Sense of worldbuilding&lore

Unique weapon and suit designs (again adding to the diversity)

Strong enough in a fight but not to the point of being mary sue or a cop out

So on the long journey of unpacking all my religious trauma and ideals I started thinking of all the Christian media I consumed and now need an excuse to talk about the author Frank Peretti.

So this guy wrote, amongst other things, a novel called “This Present Darkness” which was about the conflict between angels and demons and their effect on the mortal world. On one hand, this book is awesome for the simple fact of angels and demons duking it out! A premise so cool I’m confused why so many others haven’t tried their hand at it, religious or not.

With that said I wouldn’t touch the book with a forty foot pole today because of the little issue that it really tried to peddle the idea of “education is brainwashing your kids!” Yeah, the head demon’s plan was to pull people astray from God by taking over a university so that they could teach all kinds of non-Christian stuff like yoga and meditation. It’s really stupid.

And this is only one of the books he wrote. What I can remember the rest of them get just as dumb. I’d say find a summary of some of his stuff or even see if you hunt them down at a thrift store just to witness how ridiculous this stuff can get.
