You haven't read the manga?..... If you only read the cherry picked levihan moments then let me tell you (not sending this with ill intend btw) that for every small Levihan moment there's a big eruri one. Like that convo where he shuts hange out after it was said about her crush on shadis? Levi actually talks afterwards about how he wants Hange to take over the rots mission and for Erwin to stay tucked in safe.

When Hange was hurt during the uprising the moment he sees Erwin he's just nonchalant about? And yes she said she was okay and he was mad about her being hurt in the first place, but the looks he gives erwin not only this moment but throughout? Not really platonic tbh...

Or the falling debris scene where he seems distracted? Yes he's thinking about hange's safety but the worried look is at Erwin's direction on the wall.

And also in chuugaku, there's a chapter about Erwin and Levi's relationship, exposition provided by Hange herself, where it's pretty much implied that Levi has the hots for him (complete with a bottom levi joke). Like he's the only member of the "home-making" club headed by Erwin where he basically cleans and cooks for him while erwin reads his paper like they're a couple and they've put marks like: don't search eruri on tumblr/ao3 haha.

Point is while levihan is a ship that's MAYBE canon, there's a lot more concrete evidence for eruri. The only thing that throws it off is there's no discussion about Erwin's feelings nowhere that could be interpreted as romantic. And combine that with his crush for dok's wife back in the day maybe he wasn't into Levi the same way/ maybe bi, we'll never know.

But Levi legit was in love with him.

What strengthens levihan on the other hand is that hange is transparent about her feelings for Levi. And if you take the last chapters into consideration then levi could have reciprocated them. It wasnt framed as clear as his feelings for Erwin though imo.

I'm not against either ship and think they're both precious, but levihan is a lot harder to read into and it makes me sad their romantic relationship wasn't more developed if romance was what Isayama hinted yo towards the end. Maybe yams left levihan up to interpretation deliberately? Maybe we read too much into it and it's not really there? Maybe eruri was queerbaiting? Maybe both are canon and Levi's just swings both ways? Idk the answers to any of that and unless the author comes clean we'll never be sure about levihan a hundred percent. Less doubts about eruri though...

I have been looking for the right time to go through this ask because this ask just kinda made me think but not like about anything against the eruri ship. Like go ahead, ship eruri and feel free to meta eruri in my anon inbox but like the arguments here are a bit wishy washy.

Well, of course he would ask Erwin to stay tucked safe. Erwin is literally missing one arm and Hange was the most competent person to lead in the field at that point in time. How is this related to romance? I mean, if you wanna play the romance game, remember that Levi was legit injured, he could barely stand and he still forced himself to stand up to talk to Hange.

Levi literaly gave the most poker 'pokerface' in this scene and I do not understand how it could be seen as not platonic. If we're talking about non platonic looks then maybe we should look for a scene where Levi's biting his lip seductively because let's face it, all the looks Levi gave Erwin, Hange and Petra could all be interpreted as platonic, we're all just a bunch of shippers trying to find the romance and the canonicity for our favorite ship lmao.

Yeah, because people like to stare at someone else while worrying about a particular someone's safety. I dunno but what if Levi was worried about both of them? Why do we have to blatantly disregard the fact that he explicitly mentioned 'Hange' in that scene and shoehorn Erwin's position in that scene.

Levi is literally an implied minor in chuugakkou and Erwin is a teacher. Nothing else needs to be said.

But Levi legit was in love with him.

The flawed evidence above will only make for a flawed conclusion.

As someone who has watched the show and read the manga and discussed this with people, none of my casual watcher friends even noticed Eruri crumbs. A lot of them didn't notice Levihan crumbs either so hey, we both lose here I guess.

My personal take on this and the takes of a lot of casual watchers I have talked to is, Levihan has more crumbs than Eruri but maybe it only got development given the circumstances post season 3 since Levi and Hange were working closely together. If Erwin didn't die, maybe there could have been more Eruri moments. I haven't seen enough though and I cannot so hastily conclude that Levi was in love with Erwin.

Levi could have in love with both of them. Or just one of them.

And yeah, maybe Levihans are reading too much into it. But so what if we read too much into it?

I like them. I will continued reading too much into relationships which I believe could have been healthy and could have had a great dynamic if they pushed through as something romantic.

The point of getting into a relationship is for two people to come out of it better people and I will continue to ship a couple which I think is sending a good message to others regardless of whether or not it was framed clearly enough for people to see the 'romance.'

'Living together' with someone may not be as clear as sex or a kiss for a lot of people but I think it runs MUCH MUCH MUCH deeper. Sex and kisses are a dime a dozen. Commitment and Cooperation are diamonds.

do you think that levihan comes off as rather one sided? a lot of antis say that hange cares so much but levi doesn’t care as much they do :(( i hate this because it never seemed to me that way but now a lot of people are saying this

it’s the funniest thing when i see these takes because honestly? i blame it all on studio wit and their amazing flanderization of these two poor characters in the anime and the several shippy manga scenes they decided not to adapt. if we wanna call things “one-sided” then it’s the other way around, levi has imho shown repeatedly in the manga and literally IN ALL THE EXTRA MATERIAL signs that could be taken as him having feelings for hanji, whereas from hanji’s side we can really only start noticing “obvious” signs starting from chapter 115. i recall seriously thinking levi might be interested in hanji as early as 2014 when i was a 13 year old like many many many others and tbh looking back i think we were all right after all considering things from the perspective of the most recent chapters. it’s like everything just falls into place after chapter 126-132 and you’re able to “over-analyze” certain scenes from past chapters a bit better, like the season 1 hairgrab requested by yams, like levi being worried and angry out of his mind in uprising when hanji gets shot, like the whole rain smartpass story, like yams giving hanji the role of levi’s only interpreter, like levi being worried for hanji in rts almost to the point of getting hit by rocks + screaming hanji’s name in relief on the rooftop, like levi staring at hanji and worrying about the poisonous water when he has the mf vastity of the ocean in front of him who lived in the underground all his life, and don’t get me started on the side materials like chuugakkou (which, as much as it is an au, retains canon character interactions) which heavily hint at shippy shit, character interviews, hell even video games. as much as they aren’t strictly canon, in a way they end up being such. extra materials wouldn’t seriously imply shit too much outside canon, they still have to retain the integrity of the original story.

but yeah, imho there’s wit flanderization to blame. they made hanji to be comic relief with no serious moments and especially butchered levi’s ova and their first meeting, plus made levi an overly cool edgelord with no facial expressions, taking out scenes for examples from the uprising where he tenderly looks at the mother with her baby and things like that, bc god forbid the stereotypical sasuke-archetype ever so present in every shonen is allowed to have feelings and scenes that don’t involve him spinning and using sharp blades. which is why anime-onlies will probably be confused when part 2 rolls around and we get all those lh moments animated one after the other. unless you are a manga reader, and not a speedreader but someone who actually takes the time to unbiasedly understand the characters, you probably will miss their bond considering the adaptation that took out almost all their moments.

in short, the answer to these people is “read the mf manga. If you read the mf manga, if you really wanna nitpick and decontextualize shit for the sake of dragging a ship, at least be true to the source material and see that it’s the other way around and technically levi is the simp out of the two” lmao but yeah jokes aside, ignore these mfs and LOOK AT THE CUTE OCEAN OFFICIAL ART

Japanese schools

Japanese school system consists of:

6 years of elementary school,

3 years of junior high school,

3 years of senior high school and

4 years of University.

*The gimukyoiku (compulsory education) period is 9 years: 6 in shougakkou (elementary school) and 3 in chuugakkou (junior high school).

Most schools operate on a three-term system with new school years starting every April. Except for the lower grades of elementary school, an average school day on weekdays lasts for 6 hours, making it one of the longest school days in the world. Even after the school ends, children still have drills and other homework to keep them busy. Vacations are 6 weeks long during summer break and about 2 weeks long during both in winter and spring breaks. There is often homework during these vacations.

Every class has its own classroom where students take all the courses, except for practical trainings and laboratory work. During elementary education, in most cases, one teacher teaches all of the subjects in each class. The number of students in one class is usually under 40. However, in the past, because of the rapid population growth, this number was lot higher, exceeding 50 students per class.

Students in Japan actually feel happy in school (85 percent of them).

I know I am just torturing myself and this is probably not anything in the grand scheme of things, but I wonder why was there always such a big push for Beruani (or Beru -> Ani) in the media and spinoffs if there was not going to be a narrative pay-off for it.

It’s present in Chuugakkou and in Sungeki and magazine spreads and calendars and promo images...

IDK, I just find it weird. Even if you believe there is no basis for romantic Beruani, portraying him looking at her constantly should mean he still cares for her A LOT as a friend or there is something we do not yet know (a secret???)

Which makes me even more irritated at how neither Annie nor Reiner mention him in the manga as of lately, like he was just a random dude and not their friend or comrade who spent 5+ years on the island with them.

(also I do not get how Ar*ani came to be canon. I have nothing against the ship but to me it came out of nowhere :/)

Hi hi! What do you think about the rumor that WIT isn't going to animate the next season?

While it’s still not confirmed by an official source, I've come to accept the rumor is most likely true. My personal hope/desire is that WIT’s parent studio, Production I.G., is who’s picking it up. They worked with WIT to get season 1 going and also animated the Shingeki! Kyojin Chuugakkou series. I also noticed that they did work with WIT on the Lost Girls series which is something that was relatively recent. To me it makes sense that the parent studio would absorb the series. Prod IG does some gorgeous works and feels very similar to WIT studio (as expected). That being said, obviously I have no idea what’s in store for the anime moving forward.

Here’s hoping for some kind of hint or answer after the S3 finale this week! <3

Hange’s death hurt so much because she was feeling guilty the whole time she was a commander... she willingly sacrificed her life even when she was so terrified and had wanted to live with levi... both commanders couldn’t make their wishes come true. erwin wanted to get to the basement and hange wanted to live with levi... and in that panel where she is falling you can see a little smile that makes you cry your eyes out... ahhh she was a ray of sunshine

yep i agree wholeheartedly; i believe hanji is obectively the most positive and pure-hearted out of all the characters, a literal sunshine baby and it hurt my heart for 4 years to see her go from an enthusiastic scientist to a crestfallen commander who wants to honor her comrade’s deaths and doesn’t see herself as adequate for the job. she had it EXTREMELY hard, one thing is dealing with titans as your enemies, one thing is dealing with humans as your enemies. she was SO brave until the very end, she stuck to her principles, she blamed herself for EVERYTHING which absolutely destroys my heart,,,,,, sad hours open

this is why it gets me so freaking angry when people say she wasn’t a good commander like?????? for example thanks to her weapons, ALL the titans out of the walls were exterminated, she held meetings for 4 years and made deals with hizuru and the marleyan soldiers like she actually got people on paradis’ side???? she did so much?????? idk fam sometimes i think people read a different manga than i do lmao i get that there can be different interpretations of things but come on, we should all be objective in some ways 💀 and all the hate she’s received from Certain People™ really aint it

ANYWAY on a more positive note because god knows i have screamed enough about her death, hanji is a legend my #1 fav character and we should all bow down to her she deserved better and i will die on this hill and TBH i have jumped on the “hanji is alive” train so we’ll see hehe we still have to see her shard!! and that gives me SO much hope!! 100% convinced that chapter 132 won’t be the last time we see hanjo fight me

while we wait to see the next chapters lets console ourselves with the spin offs especially chuugakkou where levihan are [basically] happily married and hanji is at her Babiest™ COME ON LOOK AT THIS ABSOLUTE BALL OF FLUFF LOOK JU ST LO O K

But yeah i do have to say, on a more serious note, i really DONT like how her death was handled. like, at all. i just feel like it was extremely rushed, i dont really want to say pointless but?? it just seems really cruel to discover this flying titan thing literally the next chapter after she died, it seems like a joke idk just really unnecessarily cruel to my poor heart lol putting my bias aside, from a narrative point of view i dont feel like her character arc was over which is what dissatisfies me the most about this whole situation. i disagree with a lot of things and i dont know if i want to express all my feelings because that might spark some debate and i really dont want to deal with that 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️🚶‍♀️ i have been in the fandom since 2013 and i’ve had my fair share of discussions over the years and i have tons of experiences with how some people in this fandom, err, take things a bit too personally and yeah not in the mood on this account chief 👁👄👁
