lup. dup. lup. dup. the rhythm of his steady humming heartbeat cradled my ears. i was nestled in between his legs, back leaned against his firm toned chest. his one hand gently played with my fingertips, occasionally his own black painted nails coming into view, tracing patterns onto my palm. it almost felt as though he was trying to memorize every shape and curve and line. the other hand barely held the cigarette as it loosely hung between his long pale fingers.

the thunder rolling outside was faded into the hazy background, yet still completely comforted you to the core. there was little to no rain but the sky was a deep shade of grey. it was just the way he liked it. and at this point, you did too. the glass window felt pleasantly cold against your knee that rested against it. from the way the trees swayed violently with the wind, it must be quite windy. it almost made you want to go out and feel it on your skin. almost. you wouldn't trade the world for what you were in right now. an asteroid would crash on the earth and you wouldn't spare a glance in it's direction. nothing could compare to this. just the two of you, and the purring of your cat, who was in deep slumber against your thigh.

this was your safe space. he was your safe space. your one and only home. where you've always belonged. your own little heaven.
