revisited cinderella chef today while going through my lists and i realised how much of an underrated drama this is
i need to say that initially it was outside my comfort zone cuz period dramas and those too longer than 30 episodes aint my piece of cake
i started watching this for thassapak hsu since i loved him in my girlfriend is an alien and sadly there arent many dramas starring him that are available to watch. i had my inhibitions but they slowly started to fade as the drama progressed.
thassapak failed to catch my attention as much danni chong as ye jinxuan did.
her acting is spotless and her character is so charming and really fun to watch. even zhao lusi as a supporting cast made her mark. thassapak hsu as always adds good looks and charms and in all i didnt even know how i finished it in such a short time.
the pacing is good, the costumes are wack, the food is aesthetic and the leads have a really good chemistry.
if you are into historical dramas and are also a long drama kind of person i would definitely recommend this one

Cinderella Chef. 8
Story: 8
Acting: 10
Chemistry: 10
Comparable to: Oh my Emperor! (cdrama); The Romance of Hua Rong (cdrama)
I honestly thought I posted about this drama awhile back so I swept through the archive to see if I did and couldn’t find it so I rewatched it again and like somewhat the second go around, although I did fast forward through a lot. The storyline is a little bit different then the classic cliche time travel historical romance stories which the first go around was very refreshing. Both main leads have excellent chemistry together which makes the drama all that more enticing but unfortunately it does have that bit of unfortunate filler dragging episodes. The series for me had too many episodes and definitely should’ve been cut down a bit. Then it would’ve been a very highly watchable drama throughout. It’s still very entertaining and at least deserves to be watch once if you a fan of historical romances.

I literally didn't care about the plot nor the romance happening, I was just watching for the food aesthetics

i believe in love, how it can change lives, how it makes room for the spectacular in the moment. i was reminded of this today by diana wynne jones and hayao miyazaki. within stories of magic, those that are timeless are those that write and give life to love in some way, shape, or form (i'm looking at you, 2015 cinderella)
