OTP Fact Swap: Claira Hawke sometimes talks in her sleep which Anders finds cute but Justice/Vengeance finds incredibly alarming. The spirit is convinced she's being possessed by a demon even though she isn't a mage. The fact that she gets bad nightmares and starts yelling and tearing up doesn't help her case, but most of the time Anders is able to reign in the spirit and wake her up and hug and hum her back to sleep.

Lennan, of course, has nightmares, as any Warden does.Whenever he wakes up with a scream or a frightened gasp, his first impulse is to check his surroundings for witnesses. It’s a helpless, frightened moment, a moment when he *cannot* control his reactions - and he always feels awkward, embarrassed and exposed when a ‘You OK, Lenn?’ comes from one of his companions.And frankly, even when it doesn’t, he suspects *someone* must have heard or seen and he *hates* the feeling.

When he starts sharing the tent with Zevran, it takes some time getting used to - to *always* have someone by his side who witnesses his moments of weakness and vulnerability.But Zev’s presence is so completely devoid of any judgement that Lenn finds himself easing into the arrangement - and one night he wakes from another nightmare with a start and a yelp - and Zev just reaches for him and pulls him into an embrace, mumbles something unintelligible but undoubtedly sweet…And Lennan realizes he is completely fine with that.

So I’ve been thinking a lot about my canon PT’s and how to prepare for my next Dragon Age adventure in a few years.

It really just sucks I don’t have all my past playthroughs.

What I do have is my OG PT, which is just my first PT of my kick ass ladies. Like Beatrice, Kendra, and Aeva. But as far as story line goes, I don’t really really consider it canon. What I do consider canon is Kamren, Devyn, and then Aeva.Or Faryn, Kendra, then Claira.

So I’ve been trying to rearrange some stuff to kind of get the PT’s I want. I’ll have to redo Aeva and Claira both, sadly. Because one, I messed up Aeva’s playthrough. Tried to swing it when I wrote the character, but now it just feels wrong. And two, I loaded the wrong world state for Claira. Luckily, I have their faces all picked out. And I also have mods all sorted so it won’t be difficult. Just not looking forward to the Hinterlands again. I’ll just zip through on easy mode or something.

ANYWAY... the point I’m making is that I have finally given up. I haven’t romanced Zevran in such a long time. And the more I think about Kamren, the more I want to romance Zev. SO BAD. I WANT LELIANA TOO. But I might just make a nice little mage for her or something. I just feel so bad.

I also have three characters in mind I’m excited about. Sullivan, a warrior Hawke who becomes smitten with an elven mage. And unnamed elf mage. And an unnamed archer qunari. I’m also half tempted to make another mage hawke just because MAN THAT CLASS IS FUN. And it also gives me an excuse to get next to Fenris again.

I just have a lot going on for a girl who wants to play more video games.

vampire au!

My OC’s: Vampire AU

Alyss Amell is a late 1700′s French vampire, and just, the sweetest little blood sucker; very polite, never kills her victims. Bitten at age 21 by nomad vampire Duncan to save her from dying of consumption. Pining for years over the pretty red-headed priestess with the beautiful voice who she can’t speak to because she’s always in the church at night and Alyss can’t step on hollowed ground. Leliana catches on eventually and is very endeared to the hopeless undead girl. 

Claira Hawke is Alyss’ human cousin visiting from England but ends up staying when Alyss turns. Always frantically trying to convince the town that her “sickly” cousin is very frail and that’s why she can’t leave the house and also she has tons of allergies like garlic and...crosses (”It’s the metal you see, Mayor Meredith, it just makes her skin hive up, you know, allergies.”). A terrible liar but Leliana helps her keep Alyss a secret.

Ronan Aeducan’s family is the head of a powerful modern-day (but a millennia old) coven but he fakes his own death so he doesn’t have to inherit leadership. Ends up opening a vampire-themed bar to go undercover, the goths of the town love it. He also over-pays a mortal bartender, Nora Brosca to keep his secret and be his daytime task-runner (he refuses to turn her into a vampire despite her repeated requests though). Ronan drinks animal blood since he was a vegetarian before he was a vampire and he sees this as the closest vampiric equivalent. 

Kyung-Jae “Kieran” Tabris is in the same timeline as Ronan and new to being a vampire. Got into a bad fight and could not afford medical care (cough cough guess which “first world” country he lives in) but was saved by century-old Blue Surana who had been walking home that night from the research lab she works nightshifts at. Now he’s greatly frustrated because he thinks being a vampire is so cool but none of his human college classmates believe him (”Look how pale and pretty I am now!” [”you were always pale and pretty..”] “Well look how strong I am!” [”idk you spend a lot of time at the gym dude”] “Ugh, come on! I can’t eat garlic!” [”Yeah well you’re also lactose intolerant :/”] Is invited to work at Ronan Aeducan’s vampire bar once Ronan notices that Kieran is, in fact, an actual vampire.

Blue Surana is the unofficial, unintentional coven leader of the small group of vampires that she’s either met (like Ronan Aeducan and centuries old now-phlebotomist Alyss Amell and her now-vampire wife Leliana) or turned (like Isseya Mahariel). Among others in her found-family is human vampire-hunter Cassian Cousland who she has befriended (or rather, saved, because he’d been nearly killed by a hostile vampire named Rendon Howe) whose family has protected humans from vampires for generations. He’s the first ever Cousland to befriend vampires and keep them a secret from humans and other hunters. This arrangement comes with the understanding and agreement that Blue Surana and her coven vow to not kill any human (human Nora Brosca is not thrilled about the lack of murder: “Oh come ON! Where’s the excitement in being friends with the undead if there isn’t even a littttle murder? As a treat?” [”Nora, no.”])

Varric Tethras: “Hawke’s a funny man for being the quiet type. He’s subtle, but when he makes a wry observation or dry joke in the middle of a tense situation, even Broody can’t help but chuckle. He calls himself a “jack-of-all-trades” because he knows a little bit of each school of magic or something, but when he’s not healing, Frost here only seems to want to use ice. But hey, I’m not complaining. He’s my best friend and that ice easily keeps the Qunari and the Carta off our asses.”

Worldstate 2: Henley Hawke

Varric Tethras: “Ah, Queenie, huh? I spoke to Leandra once a few years back, and apparently Hawke’s always been like that. You know, walked around like she’s the ruler of everything? Doesn’t surprise me. But.. she’s got her charm. For a gold-loving ex-mercenary who leaves a trail of blood everywhere she goes, no one would ever say Queenie lacks for grace or beauty. I guess I should consider myself lucky she thinks of me as her confidante and only friend.. Anyways, Henley’s a little too sharp and abrasive for most people, but she’s had little trouble becoming queen of Choir Boy’s heart.”

I wouldn’t say she’s funny, and she may not always be “nice”, but I rarely ever see her not rushing off to help someone. Red-Warden’s OCs: Champion of Kirkwall

Worldstate 1:  Akono Hawke the “Chaotic Chill Champion of Kirkwall”

Basics: anarchy and wit and chill. Jack-of-all-trades mage (knows one basic spell from each school of magic) but specializes in Ice magic. Is also a skilled Spirit Healer. Magic manifested at age 11 when he made it snow indoors on a very hot summer’s day to keep the twins cool. Varric’s nickname for him: “Frost”. Gay/Grey-sexual. Fenris Romance.

Physical: age 25-32 (DA2) and 36 (Inquisition), 6′4, tall, strong well-muscled build, very muscular arms, colorless/silver eyes, black hair in thick cornrow braids, brown skin tone, black well-trimmed beard, dark purple face tattoos, handsome. Modern AU he is half white/half African-American coded with Nigerian ancestry. 

Psychological: Purple Hawke (almost exclusively, except a few Blue moments with Leandra and Carver). Chill, funny in a dry way, introverted, shy, impressively patient, brilliant visionary and planner, prefers not to lead directly but pull strings from the shadows or behind a mask. There’s a million ideas always running through his head but he focuses these many ideas, narrowing down those that are illogical and discardable. His intelligence propels him in everything he does, shaping his values, shifting his actions. Akono is passionate about equal rights and overthrowing oppressive establishments- but still maintains a healthy sense of humor and ease. Painfully empathetic but hides it; Devout Andrastian but anti-chantry. Chaotic Good

Decisions: Carver became a Grey Warden, Dueled the Arishok (was not Basalit-an), Sided with Templars publicly most of Acts 1 and 2 (lets mages escape when Templars weren’t involved) to gain their trust (his plan was to get Meredith alone somewhere to assassinate her). Did not help Anders place bomb in chantry. In the end, sided with Orsino/Mages. Killed Anders by his request (to become a martyr the mage rebellion could idolize). Privately agreed with Anders, but publicly will deny it. Survives Adamant (Loghain left in the Fade).

Relationships: Full/high Friendships with everyone (including Carver) except  Merrill, closest with Isabela and Varric. He looks out for her as if she were his little sister but she doesn’t forgive him for not giving her the tool to fix the Eluvian (full Rivalry). Considers Aveline Vallen and Sebastian Vael family, but has few other close friendships due to his shyness and preference for privacy. Main party: Act 1- [Carver, Isabela, Varric] Act 2/3 - [Fenris, Isabela, Varric]

After Kirkwall: Stays for a little while to help rebuild Kirkwall, but leaves a few months after, using his gold to buy Isabela a new ship. Leaves his mabari “Tor” to Aveline. Brings Fenris with him and the three become pirate liberators on the seas, hunting down slaver ships and freeing the slaves (while adding gold and ships to their fleet). Does this for years up till Inquisition while accumulating wealth to hire mercenaries. Is planning to lead the last slave rebellion of Tevinter and overthrow the Archon. Will seek aid from Inquisitor Adaar. Writes to Warden Carver regularly (they’re very close).

Worldstate 2: Henley Hawke the “Red Queen of Starkhaven”

Basics: tired eyes and sharp edges and spite. Arcane/Earth focused Mage (Specialization: Blood Mage). Has great difficulty learning any kind of creation/healing spells. Magic manifested late at age 16 when she caused a small earthquake while in a very bad mood after being slighted by a nobleman bachelor. Varric’s nickname for her: “Queen of Hearts”, formerly “Queen of My Heart.” (”Queenie” for short). Biromantic/Asexual. Sebastian Rivalmance.

Physical: age 25-32 (DA2) and 36 (Inquisition), 5′10, tall and slender, gray eyes, shoulder length burgundy red hair (secret: exact color is maintained with magic) styled into loose curls daily, pale skin, dark smoky eye make-up to hide dark raccoon eyes from lack of sleep. Suffers from anemia, chronic insomnia, and night-terrors since childhood. Resting bitch face but is strikingly lovely anyways. Modern AU she is Irish coded. Faceclaim: Elizabeth Gillies

Psychological: Red Hawke (almost exclusively, except a rare Purple remark at Varric). Difficult to faze but stubborn. Vain, selfish, paranoid, antisocial, but well-educated and can hold stimulating conversation on a wide variety of subjects. Is often mean for the sake of getting people’s reactions; full of blunt criticism. Too straight-forward to ever lie or be sarcastic. Exceptional memory for names of people and places, important events. Can mingle with mobility effortlessly. Easily bribed, considers every deal with demon but rarely actually accepts. Very motivated by the goal of an easy, luxurious life and more than willing to marry money to achieve this goal. Is unbothered by any killing she does to get her way but does not actively enjoy it. Neutral Evil 

Decisions: Carver became a Templar, Refused to duel the Arishok and instead team battled (was not Basalit-an), Sided with Templars most of Acts 1 and 2 so they wouldn’t bother her. Helped Anders place bomb in chantry. In the end, sided with Orsino/Mages after flipping a coin (she didn’t care for either side and would have picked Templars if Meredith had paid). Approved of Anders but executed him to keep Sebastian. Survives Adamant (Alistair left in the Fade).

Relationships: Full Rivalry with everyone (including Carver) except for Varric Tethras (full Friendship). Generally, she is awful, and Varric is the only real friend she’s had in her life and she is begrudgingly in love with him through the 3 years between Acts 1 and 2. After he betrays her in the Fade, she begins to pursue Sebastian out of desire to become Queen of Starkhaven. Over the years, she comes to tolerate and eventually love him. She is loyal to Aveline though they dislike each other (like sisters with a love-hate relationship). Oddly attached to her elf servant Oranna, she considers her “hers” and is very protective possessive.  Main party: Act 1- [Carver, Varric, Anders] Act 2- [Aveline, Sebastian, Anders] Act 3 - [Aveline, Sebastian, Varric].

After Kirkwall: Leaves to Starkhaven with Sebastian most immediately after defeating Meredith. Gives her mabari “BC” (”Better Carver”) to Merrill. Brings her servant Orana with her as she is the only one she trusts to serve her loyally. Becomes Arcane Advisor to the Prince of Starkhaven and eventually his fiancé then wife. Becomes known as “the Red Queen”.

Basics: conversation and anxiety and adaptation; Alyss Amell’s cousin. Short-bow Rogue (Specialization: Shadow). Varric’s nickname for her: “Bluebird”. Bisexual. Anders Romance (after Fenris Rivlamance). 

Physical: age 25-32 (DA2) and 36 (Inquisition), 5′5, average build on the softer side due to eating carbs and sweets constantly, toned legs maintained by daily running and stretching; wide hazel eyes with under-eye bags, dark brown hair down to mid-back kept in a messy bun on top of her head, fair skin tone, freckles, red lipstick, wears a red-hooded cape.  Faceclaim: Lydia Graham

Psychological: Blue Hawke (60% Blue, 40% Red); devoted but dynamic, brave but panics easily, smart but naive, easily excited but easily depressed; friendly but with a savage temper, values peace, foul-mouth though tries to control it. Doesn’t really know who she is but does her best. Devout Andrastian but kinda slutty (in just her time in Kirkwall she sleeps with: Athenril, Fenarel, Fenris, Isabela, Templar Hugh, Cyril de Montfort, Anders, a tal-vashoth, and propositioned Seneschel Bran but he turned her down); uses hookups and casual sex as a coping mechanism for stress, also may have commitment issues. Modern AU she is English coded and has diagnosed Generalized Anxiety Disorder and Panic Disorder. Neutral Good

Decisions: Bethany died in the Deep Roads, Dueled the Arishok (was Basalit-an), Vocally and actively sided with mages all Acts 1 and 2, Emotionally manipulated into helping romanced Anders place bomb in chantry. Relationships: Full Friendships everyone except for Fenris (full Rivalry) due to bringing him everywhere while being very vocal and helpful to the “freedom for mages!” cause. Gets along well with everyone due to intense desire to please and be liked but has few close friends (Aveline and Merrill). Main party: Act 1- [Fenris, Bethany, Merrill] Act 2/3 - [Fenris, Merrill, Anders]

After Kirkwall: Flees Kirkwall with Anders immediately and though she’s broken up with him out of anger for the lives lost (disapproved) in the Kirkwall Chantry, she comes to forgive him eventually but they do split up and go their seperate ways. A couple months later she realizes she is pregnant and sends a distress raven to her friends. Aveline is busy in Kirkwall holding off Sebastian’s invasion, and Varric is already captured by Cassandra, but Merrill, Fenris, Isabela come and help keep her safe through her pregnancy. They eventually part ways again about a year or so later, except for her best friend Merrill who stays by her side. They eventually become romantically involved, raising Claira’s son Silas together.

Before Leaving for Skyhold

“Silas, love, come hug your mother goodbye. She’s leaving early tomorrow morning to visit Uncle Varric at the bigger castle.” Claira Hawke called to the toddler wrestling mabari puppies by the fireplace. Proud father of said pups and loyal companion to the Champion of Kirkwall, Bear sat watching from his place by the door. Blind in one eye now and graying in his muzzle, the still-strong hound wagged his tail as he recognized Mistress by the scent of the kadis across her nose. The same red kadis that was streaked across the nose of the young boy he was solemnly sworn to defend with his life.

“Mommy, no!” Silas exclaimed as he scurried across the room and threw his little arms around one of her legs. He frowned at the rough and spiky textures of her clothing, unfamiliar to him. The Champion had not worn her red rogue mantle for years and he knew her only for the soft skirts and dresses she wore around Vigil’s Keep. “No!”

A pained smile came over Hawke’s face as she lifted her little boy. She loathed to leave him even for an hour. She shifted him in her arms, careful to avoid the spikes and buckles of her armor. The outfit was tighter on her now; despite the scarcity of food and the strain of travel as fugitive, she had put on weight during her pregnancy. Claira Hawke had never been a slim woman, but the armor clung a little uncomfortably now. 

“No?” she can’t help but laugh affectionately at the three year old’s insistence. He had so much of her candid fervor.

“No.” the child insisted and nodding his head decidedly. “Mommy can’t go away to the bigger castle. Mommy has to stay here or else who’s gonna keep the Glowy Man away?”

A chilly pause. Claira stared at him, startled. She opened her mouth, closed it again, collecting herself.

“The glowy man? What do you mean, my darling?” she asked of him, hazel eyes full of alarm and concern.

“The Glowy Man. The one who lives inside Daddy.” Silas explained, patting her cheek as if she should know this already. His mother’s mouth went dry as she set her jaw, fighting waves of anxiety.

“Inside- Silas, do you.. Have you seen the Glowy Man? Has he.. Has he frightened you?”

The toddler in her arms shrugged. “No, not really. I’m not scared. Only sometimes. He mostly just watches me. Sometimes he talks to me when I’m sleeping.”

“When you’re sleeping? He comes to you in your dreams?” Hawke looked visibly distressed and her son’s empathy seized him, moving him to tears from seeing his mother in such a state.

“Mommy don’t be sad!” he cried, small hands holding her face as best as they could grasp. Claira forced herself to fight away the terror and took a deep breath followed by several short ones. In her panic, she often forgot to breathe. It had been a while since her last attack though, and she was fiercely determined that her son should not see it.

“Mommy’s not sad, my darling one. Mommy’s ok.” she assured him, covering his mop of scruffy brown hair and his red cheeks with kisses, leaving traces of red lipstain. “And you’re ok too. Auntie Merrill is staying here with you. She’ll help keep the Glowy Man away until Mommy comes home, ok?”

“Okay.” he answered quietly. His large hazel eyes stared up at her trustingly and her heart ached terribly for him. If she had not already steeled herself not to cry in front of him, she would have. If she had not already hardened her heart to go for his sake, then she would not have been able to leave him. Not for the world, not even for the large green hole in the sky.

Winner: Claira Hawke (Worldstate 3). For a Blue Hawke, she’s surprisingly my most flirty and promiscuous OC. She’s flirted with every single one of her companions (including Aveline, Varric, and Sebastian) has slept with 3 of them (Fenris, Isabela, Anders). I headcanon that she flirted often with Seneschel Bran and the Arishok too but got nowhere with them. She’s sweet, and bright, and unassuming looking, endearingly charming in a dorky, earnest kind of way. Flirting is just kind of habitual to her and she seldom thinks of the repercussions of it. ¯\ _(ツ)_/¯ Whatever happens, happens. 

Nora Brosca (Multi-Warden AU): Her preferences are strictly women but she’ll flirt with all her friends casually. It’s usually in the form of jokes or puns or lame pick-up lines that she’s giggling the whole way through reciting. Charismatic and confident and social, her flirtations are harmless, all words and no hands. But if a girl expresses interest back… ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Kyung-jae “Kieran” Tabris (Multi-Warden AU): Gets himself in trouble because he’ll flirt with any gender at the most inappropriate times. But he’s all bark and seldom bite, his reputation as a fckboi is marred by his infrequent interest in actual sex. Flirting is good fun, but he is always a little thrown off when someone calls him on his bluffs. Most times, he’ll sleep with them anyways just so he doesn’t lose face. Keeps up the bravado of “oh yeah, this was totally the goal. I’m so smooth.” even when he really hadn’t wanted anyone to take him home for the night.

Blue Surana (Worldstate 1): Has never flirted once in her entire life. It’s such a roundabout way to express interest and she’s not about it. Blue will often miss it if others attempt to flirt with her. She takes words very literally and prefers the direct approach when it comes to romance. However, during the Blight she was still too reserved with her feelings to confess them to Sten, simply giving him half an archdemon tooth. Luckily, he understood the meaning and accepted the gift, returning her sentiments. 

Isseya Mahariel (Worldstate 2): Is the traditional, romantic type. She wants to be courted, have men line up to impress her with gifts, and skill, and good manners. Will seldom flirt unless an intimate conversation has already been initiated and she’s just bantering back. Zevran had to work hard to win her hand, especially since she wouldn’t sleep with him until a year or so after Awakening. She’d never been with anyone before and was saving herself for The One™. 

Ronan Aeducan (Multi-Warden AU): Is aro-ace but his general polite behavior and understanding way of talking are often mistaken for flirting or interest. Unlike Cassian Cousland, he is aware of this and though he doesn’t change his way of deeply engaging and interacting with others, and may occasionally respond warmly to their flirtations, he ultimately makes it clear that he’s not looking for anything with anyone.
