Class of 2020

5/27/22

I am part of the class of 2020. I didn’t get a prom. My graduation was short, I didn’t get to hang out with my friends after it; actually, I barely saw my friends.

My last year of high school was completely online, there was no end of year prank for the teachers, no goodbye party for us, no closure.

My prom dress is sitting in my room, unworn, staring at me every time I enter the room. I can’t sell it, i grew attached to it, to what could’ve been and never was. It’s hard, knowing I lost so much in just a year.

I feel I skipped a part of my life, a chapter. I don’t remember my life in 2020 or 2021. I started university completely online; to this day there are professors I have never seen. I didn’t make friends or meet new people until this year, 2022.

I have never went to a college party, or any campus activity because there are still so many restrictions.

I just hope life feels normal again some day, and I get to experience what I have missed.

Life Update!

It’s been a while since I posted my GFM, I’d like to thank everyone who helped me share the link, I was so overwhelmed and in over my head but everything worked out in the end.

With savings and what was donated I was able to pay for the different that year, and now I’m heading into my 3rd year :)

I’ll be working as an RA, which pays for housing, and I’ve also received two new scholarships. Next year is looking so much more different than I’d ever imagined it being like back in June 2020.
