Just a little dose of happiness for you, friends! 🥰 Hope everyone's having a beautiful day!!! 🤍 Sending you all a hug! 😘 Julie Andrews & Gene Kelly, on "The Julie Andrews Show" (1965). 💕
I sometimes get called out for the way I lowkey worship classic Hollywood actresses, especially in radfem spaces. But I think that’s mostly because people misunderstand what exactly I’m worshipping. It’s not their performance of femininity (for better and worse) in their dual role as actresses and public figures that I admire. It’s more so that they managed to take on those roles and still convey their humanity in broad strokes. Hollywood writers and directors of the time did them no favors. They wrote flat, hysterical creatures who clung to men. (Reading scripts without the dimensions added by these women’s performances is revealing.) These women fleshed them out with the force of their own character and personality. In doing so, they helped reshape the way audiences - the public - saw women.
2 years later, I'm FINALLY posting a new article on Three Enchanting Ladies, my companion blog dedicated exclusively dedicated to Audrey Hepburn, Grace Kelly and Ingrid Bergman. This time, I went with a fun article on how these actresses can inspire us to spend the perfect summer. 🍦

I think Gene may be a teensy-weensy bit in love with Olivia, guys (the way he looks at her, though!) 🥺 And, I have a sneaking suspicion, that the feeling is mutual. 🥰 These two were absolutely adorable together, and you can see the real affection between them. 🤍 Olivia Newton-John & Gene Kelly, in her television special, "Olivia Newton-John: Hollywood Nights" (1980). 💕
