Etho is a... vigilante..? Villain on a technicality? Plain ol' criminal? Nobody really knows, least of all Etho, but the fact of the matter is that he isn't liked by the law. He's never killed anyone- well. Never gone out of his way to kill someone. He just likes to make fireworks. Even if those fireworks are more....bomb..like than the normal celebratory ones.

This is what Etho does. He makes explosives, and he'll sell them to anyone who pays.

Cleo, a villain, and Bdubs, a hero, both seem to have it out for him. Bdubs because he's making bombs and selling them to villains and civilians alike, and Cleo because for whatever reason etho screwed her over once with a deal.

They both have been staking out Etho's apartment for about a month now, waiting for an opening to swoop down and get him. They've seen each other too, making eye contact from different rooftops and silently making a deal to not rat each other out so long as Etho is dealt with. They've actually been sitting next to each other nowadays since nights are cold and Bdubs' sick ass moss cloak can fit two.

Bdubs is drifting off, as he's ought to do, when an explosion sounds from a street over. They're both up in a second, watching as Gemini, hero of justice and completely ruthless, gets blown back in the shockwave. Out of the smoke and rubble comes none other than Etho, covered in soot and blood, clutching something close to his chest, and making a dead sprint for his door. He's only just made it into the building when Gemini recovers and swoops over, scanning the street, looking for him. She doesn't spot him or Cleo and Bdubs, so she flies forwards to continue the search elsewhere.

As for the rooftop duo, they're in a bit of shock. Why was Gemini so dead set on getting Etho? Is he involved in more than they thought?? Should they check on the guy???

They do end up checking on him, following the blood trail through the apartment building and coming to his door which is still slightly ajar.

They don't find Etho, or they do but not in the form they were expecting. Curled up on the ground, panting and bleeding from a gash on its side, is an Arctic fox. Now, if Etho was just making and selling bombs, he'd be punished, sent to jail, fined a bit, the works. But etho seems to be a shapeshifter, and those are pretty much illegal in every sense of the word.

Bdubs rushes forwards to try and heal him, the fox makes no indication that he even knows they're there. Cleo shuts the door and ponders her next move. If they turn Etho in, they would almost certainly be pardoned for their crimes. Shapeshifters are incredibly dangerous, at least in the eyes of the government, and they need to be controlled. Most shifters are volatile, human brains aren't made to change in the ways required to shift, so they're violent and aggressive and a threat to the people around them and to themselves.

But Etho isn't like that, Etho's smart and calm and mild mannered and honestly more than a little awkward. He's an outlier is what he is.

Oh also, turns out the "thing" he was holding when he was sprinting home was his fucking eye. Luckily Cleo can reattach it but...woah.

They make eye contact with Bdubs, cradling Etho close, gentle in the way she holds him. The fox is still thrumming with Bdubs' magic, healing him from the inside out, and his eye is carefully sewn back together with Cleo's red threads. They've gotten attached. They both know that turning Etho over would grant them nearly whatever they wanted, they both know that isn't an option.

They've decided together, completely silently and completely by accident, that Etho is their funky little bomb guy, shapeshifter or not. They haven't been watching him to find an opening at all, they've been watching over him like guardian angels. That's some bull. shit. right there.

This is so messy because I kept gaining ideas, I trust you'll find it in ur hearts to forgive me

The issues they had with Etho all seem... Petty in comparison to this. They wanted to turn him in, sure. Cleo wanted a bit of revenge. But nothing like this. Neither of them wanted him dead.

Bdubs' fingers stroke through Etho's fur, the fox curled on in his lap. He's still not come around, but it's a more peaceful unconsciousness now. His ears twitch as he sleeps, making quiet fox noises. It's adorable. It's absolutely adorable. Bdubs just wants to coo over him and kiss his forehead. Even Cleo feels something warm, wanting to cradle him close.

Did Gemini know? It's the only thing they can think would cause this. Sure, Etho is a nuisance, but he's not violent. He's not a massive troublemaker. Not enough to get that kind of response!

And he's cute.

It turns out they're a perfect duo as well! Bdubs is worried Etho won't accept their help. Cleo is enough of a villain to not care, he's getting it anyway!

it has finally happened...

warrior cats life series au - skyblings

quick disclaimer - any of the parents of the skyblings aren't really being shipped i just think they would be really cool parents together. just adopt or steal a child and raise them as a family unit. nice.

also there's a tldr for each character because i have a lot to say.

okay, first is our favorite silly gal, pearl-

pearl's current name in the au is ravenmoon (воронья луна) due to her having a bird-shaped spot on her face at birth, which later covered more of her body as she aged.

raven/pearl is the child of the in-universe etho (currently named spiderweb but that's subject to change). etho and pearl's second parent were part of a group of cats living in the city, which split and moved to various locations after a disaster. etho learned about a clan of cats living in the forest and wanted to join, but his friend didn't share etho's interest so the latter went alone. he joined the clan but frequently made trips to visit his friend, ultimately coming back with a single kitten (pearl).

pearl/ravenpaw grew up in the clan, being a very successful apprentice. she didn't spend a lot of time with her father or her adopted family/friends (cleo&bdubs), instead inserting herself into her mentor's, impulse's, family and being pretty much adopted by his family once clethdubs group had jimmy and grian.

pearl finished her apprenticeship a moon earlier than expected and went on to become one of the most notable warriors the clan had. however, due to her constant arguments with cleo/burningstar and etho who became the clan's deputy, pearl exiled herself and travelled to the city, in an attempt to find her family. [some stuff happens after this, but i'll probably talk more about it if i continue working on the au :)]

tldr pearl is etho's kid that joins the clan as a newborn and grows up to be a very good warrior. however, due to constant conflicts with cleo (clan leader) and ehto (deputy), she exiles herself to look for her other family members. next up, grian!

in this au, grian is named pigeonpaw (голуболап), [getting the name pigeonsight (голубиный взор) in the future].

grian was born to clethdubs along with his brother jimmy. despite being fairly small, he was the healthier one of the litter, always active and interested in the clan's activity (which greatly annoyed anyone within his vicinity).

growing up, pigeonkit looked up to ravenpaw, who was praised by everyone in the clan for her abilities. however, because pearl didn't share his excitement, he barely got to spend any time with her. due to his siblings' absence, pigeonkit was forced to entertain himself, which led to his curious nature.

during his ceremony, pigeonkit was hoping to be given pearl as his mentor, since the latter had just graduated apprenticeship a moon ago and was the youngest and most available warrior in the clan at the moment, yet his wish didn't come true. it is rumored that ravenmoon flat out refuse to mentor him when that was suggested by burningstar.

grian was in his second moon of apprenticeship when, after a lot of yelling and fighting, his older sister left the clan. heartbroken, pigeonpaw turned to his brother for support and helped him get used to apprenticeship. [again, i have more ideas for grian's character, but they are quite ambitious].

tldr grian is a clethdubs kid who is very active and always getting into trouble. he looked up to pearl a lot and was heartbroken when she left the clan.

the last poor soul is jimmy ->

his name is (obviously) canarypaw (канареечка) [his name will likely be canaryheart (канарейкино сердце) or canaryfall (канарейкино падение? павшая канарейка??) when he's older).

jimmy was born alongside grian to clethdubs. though he was a larger kitten, he was slow to open his eyes or start walking. at a couple moons old, he got extremely sick and had to spend a long time in the medicine den. as soon as he got out, however, he was seemingly cursed with bad luck: always getting in trouble together with his bother, but always being the one most hurt from doing so.

after the young kitten's fur was covered with scars and cuts at the ripe old age of four moons, burningstar decided it was best for him to be mostly confined to the clan's camp for his safety. canarykit was expected to become a medicine cat apprentice, yet he argued his way to becoming a warrior apprentice just like his brother.

for his safety, however, burningstar ordered him to take an extra moon of kittenhood so that he could properly recover from his wounds and begin apprenticeship at 7 moons old. despite being jealous of pigeonpaw, canarykit obeyed and didn't leave camp without permission for the whole moon.

canarypaw wasn't too upset when pearl left the clan, as he was never too close with her, or anyone outside of his parents and brother.

tldr jimmy is a very sick child with bad luck, who is forced to wait until 7 moons to become an apprentice due to his poor health (and luck).

also, i based this au on an au soyka and i started last may, so some of the names and positions mentioned here are her idea! we share the blog tho so it's not like she's gonna um not get credit lol :)

On good days, Cleo can wake up and get things done. On good days, they can ignore the aching feeling in her chest. On good days, she can function.

Today is not a good day.

Today, she lies in bed alone. They are alone. Her partners, Etho and Bdubs, had had a fight with her for something or other. They don't bother to remember.

This is not a good day, she decides

They miss her partners. She misses waking up with them. They miss how Etho whispers es and groans at being dragged out of bed. She misses how Bduhs would already have a fresh cup of coffee ready for her.

They cannot speak.

That's what she realises when Etho comes in to apologise to her. His voice is shakey as he looks at their uncombed hair, puffy eyes, and her eyebags. They look up at him. She cannot speak.

Bdubs comes in next. Cleo doesn't know how long it's been.

Bdubs hands Etho something. Both their hands are trembling, Cleo realises absentmindedly. She lets Etho hrlp her swallow the potion.

They start to feel better slowly. When she talks, Etho shushes them. Cleo like being taken care of for once. It's new.

She spends today and tomorrow in bed with their boyfriends. She likes it. No. Cleo adores it.

They love the touch that they used to shy away from. She loves the way Bdubs rambles on about horses whilst Etho plaits her hair. They love falling asleep in the middle instead of on the outside.

Cleo is pretty sure that they won't have a bad day for a while.

Being undead, Cleo doesn't get sick, not in the traditional way. That doesn't mean they don't experience things like it. Their body constantly fights its own decay. That day, they could feel the cavern where organs were supposed to be. Their hair felt like straw between their fingers, their eyes endlessly dry.

Retrospectively, the fight was probably because they felt miserable, not that that's an excuse.

Bdubs and Etho care for her anyway. Even though they might still be upset about the fight, one or both of them is by her side through it all. Bdubs holding her in his lap, Etho falling asleep at the edge of the bed mid one-sided conversation.

By the time Cleo is back on her feet again, they've already forgotten what the fight was about. Cleo apologises for it anyway, but feels more secure in the knowledge that they'll love her regardless. And now, she can stroke their faces like she wanted to when she first saw their distress. She can look after them again.
