Got a great hike in on New Years Day. It's beautiful right after a hard rain. Water falls and streams everywhere. Did some more gear testing with my @mountainsmith lumbar pack and hiking poles. The results are in, the lumbar pack is perfect for small and long hikes when you don't need a full day pack of gear. I like that my back isn't all sweaty when we take breaks. I will however attach my shoulder straps to the lumbar pack for more support on the next hike. The poles are a game changer. I've been hiking for years and never wanted them, just because it was another thing to carry, but they really do help with stride, balance, stream crossings, going up and down hills and overall endurance. This is what the fire looks like on the way to my house in the city of Orange which is about maybe 20 miles from my house. I was driving so I couldn't take the best pictures. On the backside of my mountain is a town called Lake Elsinore and that's where it is going towards. Thank God there's a lake but it's a lot more populated then where it started from. Again I say God bless all the fire workers, first Responders and everybody involved and putting out this fire and helping those in need. I thank God that they caught the crazy individual who started this fire in one of the cabins back there in the woods.
