"In her wonderful study of waste, Gay Hawkins describes how, in the narrative of modernity, ‘dumping waste is an expression of contempt for nature [...]. Humans establish their sense of mastery over and separation from a passive desacralized nature by fouling it.’ Hawkins continues:
Waste makes us feel bad, its presence disgusts and horrifies us, it wrecks everything — in these familiar sentiments badness is located in the object that disrupts purity rather than in the relation between the person having the affect and the object. In the quest to purify, [...] waste has no generative capacities, only destructive ones. (pp. 9–10)
In contrast to this characterization of waste, for Carpenter, waste is generative: it contributes to life in changing and diverse forms, it creates relationships and networks, it transmits feelings. Coat as compost is understood in terms of intimacy and fidelity by Carpenter, not disgust. Waste, we might say, makes Carpenter feel good" (11).
Wendy Perkins: "Edward Carpenter's Queer Ecology of the Everyday" (2018)

The phrase "the end" can have a number of different meanings depending on the context in which it is used. Some possible interpretations of "the end" include: The conclusion or final outcome of something. The cessation or termination of something. The furthest or most distant point. The final point in time: For example, "The end of the world is a popular topic in science fiction." The ultimate goal or purpose: For example, "The end of education is not knowledge but action."

Celebrating the most important day in the world: Earth Day 2021!
On Thursday, April 22, the world will celebrate Earth Day, the largest non-religious holiday on the globe.
This Earth Day falls at a critical turning point. It is the second Earth Day since the start of the coronavirus pandemic and follows a year of devastating climate disasters, such as the wildfires that scorched California and the hurricanes that battered Central America.
International Earth Day is celebrated to remind each of us that the Earth and its ecosystems provide us with life and sustenance.
It also recognizes a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, to promote harmony with nature and the Earth to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity.

Meeks introduced the EAGLE Act—the House version of the bipartisan Strategic Competition Act—in May and included measures to boost a global climate change plan while eviscerating sections related to affirming support for Taiwan. Meeks also rejected several suggestions from House Republicans on national security challenges related to the Chinese Communist Party.
Measures intended to take a stand on climate change may end up lining China's pockets rather than checking Beijing. The Green Climate Fund, an international organization backed by the United Nations, would receive $4 billion in both 2022 and 2023 through the Meeks bill. The fund has already sent some $100 million to China in the hopes of reducing global emissions. China, however, uses forced labor in its climate change efforts and no mechanisms are present in the bill to keep American tax dollars apart from the forced labor supply chain.

Why Solarpunk Gives Me Hope for the Future ft St Andrew
When we look out into the murky depths of our future, it's hard not to despair. The scars of capitalism run ragged through our minds, bodies, and environments. The uncertainty of a world in climate chaos is driving many into a state of apathy. Inaction and status quo politicking is so prevalent among the ruling class that it's easy to believe in neoliberal hawk Margaret Thatcher's assertion that "there is no alternative." Well, there is. It's beautiful, vibrant, and gives me hope for a juster, more ethical, and more ecological future. It's called Solarpunk. Today, we're going to dive into the visions of Solarpunk, uncovering what it is, what it looks like, and how exactly it can be implemented right now to construct a radical eco and human-centric present.
Solarpunk. A burgeoning movement blending aesthetics and politics that envisions a future which answers the question: "What kind of world will emerge when we finally transition to renewables?"
Loving how the core question of solarpunk is constantly being re-iterated. “What does a sustainable civilisation look like, and how can we get there?”

Beijing sets new record by 10 degrees
Tumblr media
Feels like terrible climate shit keeps happening and no one is doing anything to stop it.
China keeps burning coal, the US is stuck with old infrastructure, Russia the EU, everyone is stuck. All while the planet keeps screaming out in pain that this isn't normal.
