you don’t really know why you hate each other. maybe it’s because scaramouche was the type who hates everything and everyone, or maybe it’s because he really hates you. but why does he hate you in the first place? you can never really point out the answer to that.

but for scaramouche, you did nothing wrong to him. he just… hates you. he hates everything about you— because you are almost everything scaramouche isn’t. you’re friendly, approachable, everyone loves you. something about you makes him uncertain about himself and he has no idea what it is.

maybe it’s the way you smile, or the way you speak. hell, maybe it’s even those small habits that scaramouche notices (much to his dismay).

you got an injury once, and when you went to the clinic, the nurse wasn’t present at the moment. the only one there was scaramouche (again, much to his dismay that he just had to bump into you here of all places).

you really have no idea how scaramouche ended up treating your wound. 

“this is a one-time thing only. don’t let me being nice to you get to your head.” but it really did get to your head.

although yes, almost all of the memories that you have with scaramouche consists of endless bickering and cursing the other, your view on him started to change on its own. all because of that moment with him in the clinic, who would've guessed?

the next time you encountered him, it was in the library and he was reading this book that you were familiar with. you decided that you wanted to have a proper and casual conversation with him. pulling the chair beside him, you asked scaramouche if he knew the author.

“of course i know the author, i wouldn’t be reading their book if i didn’t.” he said without looking up.

you didn’t really give up on your goal— you were determined on it. so you pressed a bit further on the topic and hey! you managed to know that you two actually share more likes and dislikes than you thought.

it was really unexpected but you and scaramouche bonded over books, always recommending the other novels that might spark some interest and discussing and rating them.

as for scaramouche himself, his view on you also changed the more you spent time together. he kinda felt guilty that he hated you before but past is past— no use dwelling on what happened before.

his friends pointed out before that maybe he really did like you from the beginning, but he refuses to believe that. (yet the more he thinks about it, maybe they were right. and the uneasiness that he felt back then was those “butterflies” that they say. scaramouche doesn’t know, yet at least.)

Captain, the last patrol came back from the Szarr's residence early this morning. The main hall was strangely empty aside from a few confused guests who couldn't answer any of our question, as if they didn't know what they were doing there. The real carnage was found on the lower floors, I had to send the new recruits home to spare them the view and I'll admit even some of my most experienced Fists had to take a breather after that. Aside from the blood we found smeared on almost every surface and the various amount of undead's guts and bones that littered the floor, a nauseating smell of charred flesh saturated the air below. It was as if Lathander himself came down to drown the place in His light, burning everything in his path. Cazador Szarr's body has been identified but frakly speaking, it's not a pretty sight. I believe some powerful divine magic was at work here. Waiting for our next orders, in the meantime (and with your permission) I'll keep my guys as far from that place as possible.

"Odrat" is a verb (in the infinitive form) in Czech which means to pluck or to fleece. Basically, it works the same way as "plumer" in French (plumer un oiseau or steal someone's money).
