Okay, I'm sorry, but Sad-ist's animatic got me thinking about this moment again:
Just: Tommy affirming to Tubbo that he is important to Tommy. Seeing Tubbo give up and begging him not to go. His little broken tone of voice.
Like, I know we all talk about the "What am I without you?" "Yourself" line (and rightfully so) but, if I gotta be honest, this is the moment that almost broke me when watching it live.
The whole "Even though for this entire server I've always regarded you as- as my- as my sidekick, but really Tubbo, I was your sidekick, please don't go" that's what almost broke me.
And it's because Tubbo often gets regarded as a sort of lesser. Especially during the disc war finale. Dream had drilled into them that Tubbo didn't matter. Dream wanted Tommy alive, he needed Tommy, but Tubbo? He was just a pawn who exhausted its use, no reason to keep it laying around. And Tubbo internalized that at the time. He went along with Dream's chess metaphor, he gave into thinking that he didn't matter. And it's just... it's nice that at least there was someone there to tell him that that wasn't the case. Tommy with his insistence that Tubbo mattered as much as him if not more. That he was important. That he was needed.
I just... Clingy Duo man...
