Samberry - Skell’s Samantha Dress for CF Retextured

This is my oh-so-creatively-named take on this dress by Skell, based on the Cranberry Party Dress worn by American Girl doll Samantha Parkington. My original intention was just to retexture the sash and make recolors, but I wound up almost completely retexturing it with bits and pieces borrowed from Andavri. The lace on the bib was also replaced with the lace on the original’s collar. (Skell’s is more faithful to the mega-lace on the doll’s dress, to be honest, but I liked this better.)

The dress comes in two patterns, one in Andavri’s Disney palette (custom swatch) and one in Van’s Ladies of Verona palette (custom swatch). Each pattern has one variant with dark lace - the Disney one because it could be used for mourning and the Verona one because it just looked adorably goth. Samantha’s era is turn-of-the-century, right on the cusp between Victorian and Edwardian/Progressive, so the dress could work for games of either era. It could also work in more modern games for dress-up occasions.

The lace bib does clip a bit (back, back with clipping), particularly over the shoulders and in the back, with normal game movements. It doesn’t really bother me, but if it bothers you, well, now you know.

The files are all labeled, tooltipped, and compressorized. Custom swatches and the mesh are included. The outfit is categorized as casual and formal.

Sentate Amy Jumper - CF + EF Conversion

I noticed that this jumper didn't seem to be available anywhere for elders and children, so I took it upon myself to convert this wardrobe staple for them!

The Amy Jumper, created for TS4 by @sentate, converted 4t2 for AF by @curiousb and converted for TF by @pinketamine.

Now for EF and CF by me!

So, uh, there were a lot of recolours for this jumper floating about, but I managed to narrow it down to two palettes: Sentate's originals, and Pooklet's unnaturals done by @voleste HERE.

All up, after deleting some similar colours, we've got a swatch of 34 colours.

Before my computer had a minor but unavoidably productivity killing breakage, I had finished off a few bits of CC! here's the first bit of that.

This is just a lil fun thing really aha, I was working on some recolours of the AL/FT Sweater vest separated + converted (+ repo'd) by Amaryll & Skell, then I thought to make a fun version with a chunky knit and a kickboxing cat motif I recently stumbled on when looking at cfbodyhobbylogoshirt aha, I saved it to my 'motifs' folder with the full intention of using it on multiple things, it tickles me so much.

why anapris is one of the most ships ever

I blame @frefallingtea for this post entirely (ily)

So I've vaguely discussed this ship in a few different posts, but never fully elaborated on why exactly this ship holds so much mental real estate in my brain. The fact most of their interactions are relegated to side content (both translated and untranslated) certainly doesn't help, meaning I can count the fans of this ship on one hand.

The primary reason I ship these two comes down to one fundamental factor: they're always seeking to one up each other, and value the challenge the other poses as a rival/enemy.

Priscilla is, as we all know, a very prickly character. She does not mince her words and will only take an interest in things she finds entertaining. It's why she doesn't remember Subaru after arc 3, and why she brings Heinkel to the arc 5 meeting she was never invited to. The world exists in her favour, and that includes entertaining her, be it watching people dance in her palms or struggling against their own fate.

But Anastasia doesn't do either of those. She's in a different league entirely - a candidate for the election, but someone who acts outside of Priscilla's expectations. Anastasia is one of the rare people who Priscilla takes an active interest in, outside of her camp and perhaps Crusch.

To Pris, Ana is her biggest enemy in the Royal election. She says so directly in Lugunican Papers 2:

She's somebody Pris cannot afford to underestimate because she's so capable at turning the tides in her favour. It's a sentiment that goes both ways, as we see later:

Their first meeting really hammers that sentiment home. Going over her Camp Formation Story, we get to see Priscilla's first meeting with Anastasia, told from Schult's POV. After contacting the Hoshin company for some assistance regarding Priscilla's husband (at the time) we get to see them bicker about their true natures.

Schult observes instantly how different Pris acts with Anastasia, down to the "equal footing" and "corresponding value." Neither of them are pretending to be on good terms, but they're clearly enjoying each other's company.

Later, in the same SS, Anastasia rejects taking financial compensation for helping Priscilla out.

Both Pris and Ana are noted, multiple times through canon, to be intelligent women. They're equally capable of getting under somebody's skin, and one-upping most conversational partners. But with each other, there's that sense of unpredictability. Ana does something Pris couldn't have anticipated, and it delights her.

Pris and Ana also have that one commonality - being the two "outsiders" to the election. When Ana's heritage is brought up, Pris even defends her selection to Al, calling her "worthy."

A very common theme in most side content focusing on the pair is the presence of others observing them interact. Usually Al or Julius gets saddled with watching them bicker, largely in parts due to how neither of them necessarily reveal their intentions. Anastasia and Priscilla both speak in ways designed to rile or get at people's weak points, which makes it incredibly funny to observe as an outsider.

Just look at their interactions from Vainglory IF:

They're so fun to read, even if their back and forths seem to exhaust Subaru every time he sees them fight. It's very reminiscent of the bickering between Julius and Subaru, the way they won't admit they respect each other just a little.

Julius even says as much, directly to Subaru:

And he's right, in more ways than one. Sure, they bicker and insult each other while acknowledging their strengths, but there's more to both dynamics. One big example of that: the way both pairings tend to agree with each other the most, even with all the fighting they do.

In arc 5, Julius goes against Ana's proposal for minimal casualties, choosing to side with Subaru. Almost every occasion he disagrees with Ana is due to him actually agreeing with Subaru, something that I don't think either of them are necessarily aware of.

The same happens with Ana and Pris. Even though they're constantly at each other's throats, they're the candidates that agree the most with each other. Lugunican Papers has them share pretty much identical opinions on the other candidates, praising Crusch while dismissing Felt and Emilia:

And in Arc 3, Pris is the one to back up Anastasia's refusal to intervene in the Julius-Subaru duel:

A lot of what Priscilla says is incindiary to the rest of the cast, something that Subaru regularly clashes with. It even happens a few times in Prophecy of the Throne, where Pris will state something heartless (i.e. not caring about helping Melty) and everyone else will react negatively to her.

But Anastasia 9/10 times agrees with her and faces less blowback for it. In that Prophecy of the Throne example, she outright explains Pris' opinion and translates it in a way that's more agreeable - it's not that they want Melty dead, but they need incentive to help her. Pris gets annoyed with her, but doesn't disagree with anything she explained to the rest of the cast.

In my opinion, the reason Anapris works so well as a pairing (platonic or romantic) is due to the strong mutual understanding they have of each other. There's no hiding each other's natures, or playing to a crowd. They only want to get the upper hand on the other, but can only gain small victories moment to moment. They acknowledge and understand each other more than anyone else, and that's why they clash so much.

First ever drawing on Clip Studio Paint and an overhaul of my persona because I'm tired of drawing both Alshain and Altair, so I decided to combine them to form a new design! I'm calling this default version Blue Supergiant (BSG) for obvious reasons-

Modified Alshain's Star Sword (original design by @just-jammin found here) to a Chinese Broadsword (also called a dāo)

Calling it Xīngdāo given that it's a direct translation, plus it even comes with a scabbard that I drew by checking whether the dimensions allow Xīngdāo to be pulled out and kept...

Design inspirations will be in the tags to allow people to ignore my thought process when designing my new persona

And below the cut is... I guess I'll call it Collapsed Form (CF)? I mean, those who know me long enough know that I tend to include astronomy as a design theme...

So... differences between BSG and CF are:

- Hair turns from blue to white while eyes completely turn white, both the hair and eyes glow

- Weapon changes from a dāo to a disassembled yǎn yuè dāo, the latter is named Spica to reference my actual horoscope sign (Virgo) even though Aquila and Virgo constellations are basically in a three o'clock position...

Spica is held together by three neutron stars, all of which their magnetism is controlled by CF and thus Spica's reach varies. The blade glows blue because... look I just think it's fucking cool okay? It's my persona and I can make a weapon named after a blue supergiant glow-

- Cloak is slightly tattered compared to BSG's

- Blue floaty fire thing (I call it a star bomb because I don't know what else to call it) to white floaty glowing thing (I... guess I'm calling it an ultra-compressed star bomb?)

- Ability focus leans more on magnetism and gravity rather than heat (though CF is still extremely hot), hence the word 'intensity' in CF's quote

#current colour scheme is based on previous Altair’s colour scheme #the clothes are inspired by F/A War!Alshain's design while incorporating Altair's general barefoot nature #the exception is the pants which is inspired by Wushu uniforms #the cloak is actually a paludamentum with a magnetised clasp that allows a magnetised pauldron to be attracted to it #Xīngdāo is a dāo because it is a weapon used in Wushu which I’ve learnt during primary school #Spica’s original design was a plain méi jiān dāo but I changed it to a disassembled version to make it look grander for a celestial #then I changed it to a yǎn yuè dāo as Spica’s blade was too large for a méi jiān dāo #all I had to do for the weapon change is to draw an additional point on the blade #fun fact: BSG's original size was 32.9 but I compressed it to 8.5 MB so as to fit within Tumblr's 20 MB limit #CF’s size? 3.5 MB without compression #the amount of things I looked up is astronomical #pun intended #blazing remnants #celestial demon's descent #Altair draws

Extra Magic Hours (Andavri's 2013 SS gifts in Disney 2.1 Colors) - Part 2

This set is comprised of recolors for unfinished projects that Andavri sent my way once upon a time. These are 16 sets (counting different ages) of recolors for outfits she created for a PBK Secret Santa Gift in 2013.

Part 1 featured the toddler outfits. TF & AF outfits lie ahead. Info, pics, and links are behind the cut!

6 - Blue Calico (CF)

This grown-up version of Blue Dotted & Green Stripey features puffy cap sleeves, knee-length stockings and brown flats. This uses a fakepeeps7 mesh, so grab it at MTS. (Swatch)

7 - Brown Floral Border (CF)

By far my favorite of the CF outfits! It's a lacy, sleeveless gown with a wide sash and unapologetic bow in the back. This uses the cfbodydressflowergirl mesh from the Celebrations Stuff pack. (Swatch)

8 - Green Calico (CF)

Green Calico & its upcoming cousin are much less busy takes on fakepeeps7's original outfit. (Check it out and grab the mesh, 'cause I couldn't include it.) You get a contrast between the subtle plaid and the print border, very cute and sensible. (Swatch)

9 - Pink Calico (CF)

If you looked at Green Calico and thought "but where's the gingham?", you're in luck. Same mesh as Green Calico, just scroll up for the link. (Swatch)

10 - Purple Fireworks (CF)

Last but certainly not least for the CF crew is another recolor of the flower girl dress from Celebration Stuff. The firework/shooting star pattern matches the sash. (Swatch)

11 - Green Dots (AF/TF)

First up for the ladies is a classic Regency morning gown with an apron. It uses Liz's Regency mesh and Trapping's age conversion, both included. (Swatch).

12 - Green Maid (AF/TF)

If you've ever found heget's Versailles Zoning Permit gowns useful, this may be for you. The dress comes off as a bit fine for your bog-standard servant to wear daily, but your lady toiling in the still room for an hour would certainly value her dress enough to slap on an apron. This comes on a Sim Ages mesh and Cynnix's TF conversion. (Swatch)

13 - Green Maid Dotted (AF/TF)

Yeah, I know we've already had "Green Dots", but I didn't remember that when I named this set. It's the only dress without a counterpart in the original gift, I think. This has a less-fancy dotted pattern and a longer apron than Green Maid, but it's on the same Sim Ages mesh & Cynnix conversion. (Swatch)

Conclusion

Let me stress that this is all Andavri's work. I just did the importing and previewing bits. Credit is also due to fakepeeps7, Cocomama, Liz, Sim Ages, Cynnix, and Trapping for their wonderful meshes/conversions.

Each outfit comes packed with a preview, swatch, and mesh (if allowed/required -- again, fakepeeps7's meshes have to be downloaded from MTS.) The recolors are all labeled/tooltipped/compressorized. The file names match the original outfit in the Secret Santa gift, just with the recolor name tacked on for easy reference.

Spent the morning clearing out all the clothes that no longer fit me. Been hanging on to them so that one day I’ll get to wear them again, but honestly it’s just dragging me down because it’s taking so long.

Clinging on to a past I might never get back.

So now I’m free of all that dead weight. Had a little cry. Now it’s time to look forward and when I finally get my PIP I’ll be able to buy new clothes that both fit my body and my new style!

It’s also important that there’s so much more space now and it’s far less cluttered so I can pack things away properly and have a home that I can easily move around in.
