🍎 Evonie Apfel

🏵 Coronation Outfit

During Coronation Ceremonies, Evonie wears a white and gold off-shoulder gown with a pale yellow petticoat. The neckline has a pale yellow rose, the angel sleeves have gold bands and she wears a gold collar and fingerless gloves to match. Evonie accessorizes with a gold circlet with a red heart shaped jewel on her head.

🗡 Fencing Uniform

For Fencing Classes, Evonie wears a pale yellow tunic with the sleeves having silver bands. She also wears silver and blue bodice armor with a gold chain at the bottom and the breastplate has an apple on it. She also has a short red overskirt.

👑 Pomefiore Outfit

During visits to the Pomefiore dorm, Evonie wears a modified version of the Pomefiore dorm uniform possibly suited for females to wear. Evonie wears a purple robe which reaches just above her knees. On the top-right corner of the robe, there is an intricate golden pattern which displays the Pomefiore logo. There is also a golden floral pattern, which displays the poison apple, on the outer fabric of his deeply slitted-sleeves. The inner sleeves of the robe are a rich-red with black trim, they also have the same floral pattern. Her robe is held together by a thick black sash, similar to a kimono obi. On top of her sash, there is another belt made out of red rope, which has been tied to her waist in a thick knot.

♥️ Tart Thief Outfit

Inspired by Ace, this outfit includes a red romper with the pants having gold heart details, maroon folds and yellow lace. Over the romper is a red bolero jacket with maroon trim, a gold chain with red heart jewels, maroon folds with red heart gems, and yellow lace. The footwear consists of a pair of red and yellow boots with maroon bows and heart motifs on the top.

The accessories include a red bow with a heart charm, a pale red scarf and a pair of maroon gloves.

♠️ Flamingo Duo Outfit

Inspired by Deuce, this outfit consists of a two toned bolero jacket with a white outline, one side is violet with an argyle pattern while the other is purple with stars on them, the jacket is held together by a pair of silver buttons with blue gems attached to a pair of white string. Underneath the bolero jacket is a deep indigo turtleneck dress with the skirt being pale lavender with white stars. The footwear consists of a pair of two toned boots that features the same patterns present on the bolero as well as white soles and deep indigo details.

The only accessory included is a periwinkle bow with indigo ruffles and a blue spade charm.

☘️ Polite Clover Outfit

Inspired by Trey, this outfit consists of a short pale yellow green puff sleeve bolero with the collar having a chain as well as pale green cuffs with gold trim. The remainder the dress's bodice consists of a teal almost dark sea green bodice with thin black lines. The dress's skirt is made up of two layers and both feature argyle patterns and gold trim, the only exception is that the top layer has green diamonds on the trim and the top layer is a lighter shade of green than the bottom. The footwear consists of a pair of mint green kitten heels with green straps, gold buckles and gold chains with clover motifs on them.

The accessories include a green hat with a ribbon and clover charm, a pair of dark green gloves and light bracelets that resemble shirt cuffs with gold buttons and a green sash with a gold outlined clover shaped charm that has a green gem in the center.

🔶 Dazzle Ribbon Outfit

Inspired by Cater, this outfit consists of a pale yellow tunic with various gold ribbons and bands throughout. The bodice has a gold ribbon with an orange diamond charm layered over a red one. The tunic's overskirt is gold in color with the trim and interior resembling stained glass in orange and pink colors. The footwear consists of a pair of orange kitten heels with one having an X strap and the other having an ankle strap with yellow diamonds on it.

The accessories include a yellow diamond hair clip attached to smaller diamonds and yellow ribbon. Another accessory included is a gold belt with a bow on the side attached to a black chain with a yellow diamond.

🌹 Royal Rosette Outfit

Inspired by Riddle, this outfit consists of a red rose printed dress with puff sleeves and gold accents. The bodice includes gold details outlined by gold ruffles and there are white and red roses on top of the puff sleeves. The dress's skirt consists of two layers with the first one being red with a rose print and the second one being magenta with the same rose print, both layers have gold trim. The footwear consists of a pair of magenta boots with gold soles and the top of each boot has a red and white rose. A pair of maroon and gold stockings is also present.

The accessories include a maroon hair ribbon with a maroon gem, a floral crown of red and white roses and a maroon wrap bracelet.

My Review of Komi-san Can’t Communicate

Coming into the fall 2021 season there was only one thing I was sure of and that was I had to watch Komi-san no matter what. This was at #1 priority. And then we learn Netflix got it! Ugh, that’s a bit of a headache. Netflix has that habit of clumping everything together and giving the public what they want six months after the fact. But things were a little different this time and it’s giving me hope. As of recent, Netflix has gotten its act together (in some cases) to give some anime a weekly viewing. It was just a little annoying that it was three weeks late putting out Komi-san. Better this than what Netflix has done with Pokemon.

Day one at Itan Private High School! Hitohito Tadano is as generic as generic can get. Don’t worry, he’s not the main focus.

The main focus is on Shouko Komi. Everyone in class seems to have fallen for Komi despite her never uttering a single word to anyone. So, imagine everyone’s disgust when they see someone as bland as Tadano sitting next to Komi in class. It didn’t go well.

After being conked on the head, Tadano wakes up at his desk and hears Komi make a meow sound. Tadano caught on then and there that it was hard for Komi to communicate with people. Tadano and Komi decide to communicate through the chalkboard in the empty classroom to learn what’s what. Up to this point, Komi has never had a friend. But she would one day like to make 100 friends. And starting today, Tadano will be friend #1. Throughout the series, we see Komi try to make new friends and inch closer and closer out of her shell.

BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: Like I said before, Netflix got ahold of this anime and made many of us here in the west upset. A lot of anime fans like myself prefer to watch our shows on a week-by-week basis and not wait months after release after piraters saw and ruined everything for everyone else. No one likes that! So, Netflix decided to give the people what they want (and later on fuck things up more). With shows like Komi-san and Blue Period, Netflix decided to be kind and give weekly animes. Now was that so fucking hard? Could you now do that for Pokemon? Freakin’ Canada is hella ahead of us!

With the sub, Aoi Koga has joined that special club of seiyuus who grunt and squeak in the recording session and get paid for their time. Boy, people love those seiyuus. Akari Kitou did that for Nezuko on Demon Slayer and just like that, the fanbase exploded. And just like that, Komi-san has its own fanbase with cute squeaks coming from her. And as for Tadano’s seiyuu…

Oh fuck.

Asta’s voice never leaves. He never leaves! I know his voice actor plays other things besides Asta and not at all grating. It’s just that…my ears know the pain of Asta.

Oh yeah and this little tidbit! In the episode where Tadano and Najimi go to Komi’s home, we are introduced to Komi’s mother. She says the phrase, “Forever 17”. There is only one seiyuu in all of Japan that is notorious for saying that and for looking like she hasn’t aged since the 1980s.

FAVORITE CHARACTER: Komi-san. Sorry, but she’s at God-level in my book too.

SHIPPING: I’m just going to ship these two and leave.

What else is there to say? Komi x Tadano is cute even though there will be a lot of back and forth and misunderstandings between the two if there is to ever be an actual confession.

CRAZY BITCH ALERT: It was established in the first episode that the school Komi and Tadano attend are full of “unique” students. Everyone has a quirk of some sort! No, not like what your mind immediately jumped to. I think most of us can get past whatever the fuck Najimi is and Agari’s weirdness. And no, that wasn’t a dig at Najimi’s gender, I just think Najimi is nuts. But I seriously can’t get past what Yamai did! I know Komi wants to make 100 friends, but I think she should have thought twice before becoming friends with Yamai. Before I continue, yes, Yamai is on my dislike list.

Before the big Yamai incident, we see her as a fan-girl to Komi-san and very stand-offish whenever Tadano came in the room. But then, Yamai ends up kidnapping Tadano. Tied him up and left him in her room that’s full of stalker pictures of Komi-san. THEN, Najimi and Komi come to Yamai’s home on an invite and they found out she’s a crazy-ass, Notice-Me-Senpai, psychopath! This moment was enough for Komi to tell her off (through writing) and scare the shit out of Najimi.

And that’s the one thing that’s always bugged me is that Komi easily forgives Yamai and allows her to be friends with her. Yamai thankfully doesn’t kidnap any of Komi’s close friends after that, but she does do a lot of shady-ass shit. Wanting to see and feel her boobs is one thing, but stealing her stockings and wearing them over her head is something that should be met with a security guard, Doberman dog, and a restraining order. Bitch needs a tranquilizer!

ENDING TO SEASON ONE: Has Komi managed to make 100 friends yet? No, we’re quite far from that. Although, the friends she has made thus far are unique to say the least, including the latest two, a ditzy airhead and I’m pretty sure Ymir from Attack on Titan. Moving on! We end the season off with a school festival. Komi’s class decided to do a maid café. This was not an easy decision to come by either. Everyone fought tooth and nail over which idea was going to feature Komi in the best light. She is the class goddess you know! But because Komi wrote to Tadano that a maid café would be fun…well, that’s all she wrote…LITERALLY!

Of course, we got all the prepping of the maid café and the school working hard for the festival footage like in any other anime. On the day of the festival, the maid café was doing very well. Komi, despite not being able to speak in front of people pretty much either handed out drinks or fliers. And then Najimi did some unethical things in order to get more customers. As a result, while Komi’s class was the winner of most popular business, their prize was revoked largely due to Najimi’s unethical practices.

Oh, and we get this cute end of the night dance between Tadano and Komi. But it’s not what you would expect. He was in drag and this only lasted about five seconds before Najimi butted-in. And after a job well done, they all went to a karaoke bar. Yes, they had Komi sing. Yes, Komi was a nervous wreck about going up. Yes, all she did was silently squeak. It was all cute and adorable stuff I would expect Komi to do. But she had a lot of fun with Tadano and the rest. These friends are to be treasured by Komi-san always!

AND A SECOND SEASON ANNOUNCMENT! Also, Komi spoke a whole sentence.

SEASON TWO: After all the exciting events that took place last season, you’d think Komi got a bunch of friends now. After giving Komi a notebook dub named, “Komi’s Book of Friends” Najimi broke it to her that she’s only managed to get 13 friends in a total of six months. Yeah, she’s got a ways to go before hitting 100 friends. Also, I’m pretty sure Najimi is hitting some sort of copyright with that book of friends nonsense! Throughout this season, Komi managed to make even more kookier friends than last season. This includes Katai (someone just as shy as Komi, but intimidating to look at), Sasaki (a field trip friend and yo-yo fanatic), Katou (another field trip friend and shogi player), and Naruse the narcissist.

You know what? This fucker almost wound up in my dislike category. If Yamai didn’t exist, he would totally be there. As much as I despise narcissists, Yamai’s existence will trump this kid.

ENDING: Valentines Day and White Day! Get ready for the cuteness.

For Valentines, some of the girls decided to go to Onemine’s home to make some chocolates. While they ate most of the good ones, they were able to scrounge up enough for obligatory chocolates for the classmates and friends. Throughout the day, Komi was trying to find the right time to give Tadano the chocolate that she made. And Tadano kept getting his hopes up as no one gave him a chocolate throughout the entire day. He was about to give up hope until Komi came to his house at night and gave it to him.

For White Day, it was clear that Tadano cares for Komi and it’s getting to a point where he sees her as more than just a friend. Now there’s not going to be any love confessions here yet, hell no! But he does give Komi something special, including hand cream and some candy.

Since we’re now in the month of March in this story, that means it’s almost time for this school year to end. Komi was feeling melancholy about the year ending. She and Tadano reminisced about the fun that went on during the past year like the field trip, the culture festival, and everyone coming to Komi’s house for Christmas. But no matter what changes may occur with the upcoming school year, Komi will always treasure the friends she’s made in her class and that Tadano will always be there for her.

GOD, I LOVE THIS ANIME SO MUCH! I always like to root for Komi whenever she tries new things or is with a new person. I’m glad that she has a small tight-knit group of friends. I know she wants to make 100 friends, but this is a very good start. I don’t even think I ever made it to 100 friends at her age. I wonder what would be next for this story. I often wondered why she never met or hung around any upperclassmen. Maybe we’ll get more of that if this gets another season. Maybe we’ll get some stuff with underclassmen since they’re entering their second year of high school.

I think a lot of people like myself found ourselves in Komi’s position with extreme social anxiety and opening up to new people and surroundings to be hard. Unlike Komi, most of us didn’t really have the privilege of being with a bunch of accepting classmates. I mean, come on! Who here had a pleasant experience in school where you had social anxiety and weren’t chastised for it? Exactly! If this were another sort of genre, I think we’d see more of that shit I had to deal with. Even though I find myself a little envious of Komi’s treatment, I enjoyed watching this anime greatly.

   She never stopped being one of the most - if not, the most - beautiful women that Carly had never seen. Not even when her imprisonment gave her pallor, made her hair, once blonde like soft sunshine, stringy and otherwise dulled the elegance that she had once been the embodiment of.

   “I’m flattered,” Carly spoke as she came into the den, “that you only wish to speak with me.”

   “I’m old news.” Sherry LeBlanc murmured. “I should be of no interest to anyone.”

   Carly could have clamoured at the bars of Sherry LeBlanc’s prison cell to tell her she was wrong, that she was obsessed, romantically and platonically, with her, that she would pull down all the stars in the sky for her but she didn’t. She had to have restraint. Even as her heart begged her to budge, Carly had to show the security cameras, at the very least, that she could be a big girl who could be trusted alone with the French Ripper. 

   “I disagree.” Carly murmured. “People…” She wanted to use a first person pronoun but she refused. “People find you fascinating.”

   “I don’t find very many people fascinating,” Sherry LeBlanc murmured, “but you, dear Carly, you fascinate me.”

   Carly’s heart fluttered. She gripped her pen and notepad a bit tighter and she stepped closer to the den and she sat down. As always, Sherry had requested some courtesy for her favourite guest, nothing extravagant. Just one of those university chairs with a half-desk attached but it still looked good. Of rich, mahogany wood and a plush inline for comfortable sitting. Yet, Carly didn’t feel comfortable as she sat down, back straight, as Sherry LeBlanc prowled her cage like a big cat. A cougar.

   “Individuals fascinate me but they are few and far between.” Sherry LeBlanc monologued to Carly who listened intently, batting her eyes which were wide and full like moons beneath the thick glass of her trifocals. “I enjoy the company of individuals with beauty. Those who have worthwhile talents, crafted and honed. I see that in you, my dear.”

   “Thank you, Mz LeBlanc.” Carly replied. She felt a rosy hue bloom in her cheeks, warm and flushed. Her voice was melodic, annotated with the romance of her French native tongue.

   Sherry LeBlanc chortled to herself. “Please, Carly, I have told you once, I have told you a thousand times. Call me Sherry, you are a dear companion, I crave you when you are gone. Your sweet smell and the sound of your voice, tis exquisite, dear.”

   “Thank you, you are too much.” Carly replied, diplomatic. “But, um, if I may inquire. What compelled your recent outburst? They say you tried to bite off a nurse’s face.”

   Carly’s expression was empathetic. Upturned brows and she was ready to take quick notes.

   “They mistreat me, my dear.” Sherry LeBlanc lamented. “I am told I fascinate the outside world! Bah! Humbug! What a load of crock. Inside I am treated as no more than a wild animal to be sedated and hung out on a wall like a trophy. To be beheaded would be kinder than this idle fate of slowly wilting, rotting…”

   “My apologies.” Carly offered, slightly harrowed, as she wrote down Sherry LeBlanc’s confession. It was borne of the agony of monotony, it appeared. Mistreatment and malcontent until her hunger, it appeared, could only be satiated in wrongfully provoked rage. That was her understanding, at least, for Sherry LeBlanc was, for the most part, slow to anger. One of her victims, she had merely suggested that he kill himself, not because of ill will but because of boredom.  “I will speak with the warden about proper duty of care.”

   Sherry LeBlanc turned her head as she ceased her pacing. There was a flare of fondness in her hard, blue eyes. Her smile was soft.

   “You are too good, too kind, Carly, that is why I like you.” Sherry LeBlanc said. “Carly Nagisa…” she mused. “Nagisa is written like the shoreline, correct?”

   “Yes…” Carly murmured. “Inlet, bank… all synonyms for one another, I suppose.”

   “It is a suitable name for one such as you, my poor dear…” Sherry LeBlanc lamented.

   “It is? How?” Carly asked, not to write down on paper but to etch it on the beating flesh of her heart.

   “What would you rather be, my dear?” Sherry LeBlanc asked. “The shoreline or the waters?”

   “Pardon?” Carly piped up in a small voice but Sherry LeBlanc steamrolled over her, her gaze somewhere else. Somewhere by the ocean, perhaps, and far, far away from the tiny little cell that she had given on a floor all to herself below the prefecture’s prison.

   “The water who abuses the shoreline or the shoreline who takes that abuse? Perpetually drowned and sunken down, or counting every grain of sand that you possess, fighting to keep what you have even when it is taken.” Sherry LeBlanc murmured.

   Carly inhaled sharply. She - She didn’t know- Flashbacks of her childhood of being bullied came to mind; flashbacks of her very own workplace where she was told her writing was juvenile and her questions were ridiculous came to mind; flashbacks of the very last year when she had been in Professor Sherry LeBlanc’s office and she was being put through therapy but for what?

   For this very moment? 

   When she still sat in a nice chair, being lectured on her niceties and how to prevent them.

   This was a woman who ate people alive metaphorically and preferred them just under blue dead. Carly’s heart stopped and oh how she wished she could offer it to Sherry LeBlanc, the French Ripper, the cannibal and killer, on a plate because she truly wanted to keep her worth paid in flesh and blood to Sherry LeBlanc. She wanted, dearly, to be eaten by her: dead or alive, it mattered not to Carly as she hung onto every word that she spoke in her gorgeous demeanour and brilliant voice.

   “I think I want to remain the shoreline.” Carly spoke in a small voice.   

   Sherry LeBlanc smiled but whether it was pity or whether it was something else remained to be seen but Carly had her news story. French Ripper attacks Nurse Out of Boredom. The people she despised was going to adore her for it.

   “Thank you… Sherry.” Carly murmured.

   “Any time, my dear, any time, I shall pine for you until I am of interest again.” Sherry LeBlanc replied in a dulcet voice.

   With that, Carly nodded and she excused herself.

The Feel of Springtime in the Air

There is a moment when brown and yellow turns to a beautiful green

When once brown, dormant grass becomes a live carpet, it doth seem

The once frigid weather now slightly warm

The sun comes out, a world to transform

Great miracles it will soon perform

Tulips and daffodils push up out of the soil

To the beginning of spring, they are extremely loyal

Sunbonnets so yellow and stately

They absolutely make everyone amazingly happy

Our hearts they cheer so affectionately

Blossoms breaking from buds

A canopy of flowers numbering in the hundreds

Violets, blues, reds, purples, scarlets, and whites

Oh My!  It's at this time of season that my heart and soul delights

To see these extraordinarily, beautiful sights

Flowers of all shapes, sizes, colors, and smell

To my nose, a polithera of fragrances it doth tell

So much so, that my joy runneth over

Especially at the sight of a field of red clover 

And also that of blue and purple lavender

Bumblebees and honeybees

On each delicate flower, these you will most definitely see

Their intricate bodies seen flying through the sky

Pollen so thick, it's a wonder they can still fly

They work together, in unity, to get their winter’s honey supply

Their new leaves, with the world they will gladly share

With their shapes and sizes that will actually hypnotize

This dazzling display of beauty of each tree it will characterize

As with everything else in nature, they seek to harmonize

Lilac leaves so vibrantly green

Every leaf having its own personal sheen

The richness of each delicate and ornate flower

Brings a soul satisfying shower

Of newfound love for spring each and every year

Hillsides, desert, and plain

They always arrive after a drenching spring rain

Often showing their true color, through endless fields 

As Indian paintbrush majestically dot these wondrous landscapes

A scene rarely seen as beautiful as these perfect wildflowers

Not to be left behind

To add to this great orchestra of smell it hath combined

My personal, favorite smell, it's own special odour it has lent

To the air, now rich with such heavenly compliment

Sagebrush's wonderful, heavenly, heavy, earthy scent

The embodiment of springtime

Which is all part of God’s eternal design

Is found in the birth of each newborn chick, calf, foal, piglet, and lamb

Perhaps this is why I am such a big fan

As each new Spring arrives, I become a richer man.

02/08/2021-Crows at home, purple scenes, Grey Heron, Green-veined White at Lakeside and more 

I enjoyed two crow species Jackdaw as shown in the first picture I took today in this photoset and Magpie parading on the roof visible from my room today as I worked, the Jackdaw pecking at something nice at one point too and I was happy to get three pictures of them with two more tweeted on Dans_Pictures tonight. Prior to my Lakeside lunch time walk I was thrilled to notice four Feral Pigeons in and around the garden the most I’d ever seen at once before really in and around the garden building on just Rex and Violet the regular pair we think one of the pigeons that came in today was one of the pair. Its reached an interesting point for them. I took the second picture in this photoset of some nice sky and third of some of the pigeons. 

With the sun in and out as I set off for Lakeside on my walk I had a look at the brilliant flower patch around the grassy areas, seeing a divine mixture of wild and planted species including broad-leaved clover, some of the few oxeye daisies still around, chamomile, carrot the dominant force here standing out from a far together an area featuring in a lot of my landscapes lately, yarrow with some pink a different variation to the white again too, as well as the orange poppy, the newly learnt for me nice yellow hawksweed, golden ticksseed and blue flax which I learnt today but believe I have seen before. A great colourful, pleasant and uplifting sight today. I got down the central path at Lakeside and enjoyed seeing smashing fleabane, ragwort and great willowherb especially today a delightful show of summer flowers. Around them was a fantastic Gatekeeper which I got a great intimate view of. 

I walked around beach lake, along the path directly north of it and Concorde lake and back along the nothern path, fulfilling a slight brief for photos aiming to take pictures of the lakes as the photgoraphy group we’re in on Facebook that does themes has a theme about water for the next two weeks so I knew getting the lakes into pictures as I so often do obviously would be perfect for this. And the area around the lakes took on a pink and purple glow today, with purple loosestrife surely at or close to its peak here absolutely dominating there was so much of it around the wet areas lakes and bogs and it looked so rich and wonderful, with great willowherb and the first hemp agrimony I recall seeing in Lakeside before with the patch of it beside the path across the green out the front which I’ve known since last year prominently in bloom. It was a glorious hue to behold. I took the fourth, fifth and seventh pictures in this photoset of purple loosestrife, hemp agrimony and a great willowherb dominated scene. 

Reaching the area between beach lake (shown in the sixth picture I took today in this photoset) and Concorde lake (shown in the eighth) and with Small White and Meadow Brown I decided in its last week this was one of the few bits of Lakeside I’d not done a Big Butterfly Count survey at as I practically covered Lakeside in green dots on the map from the amount I have done the last two weeks.  

It was attention to birds next though as on Concorde lake when admiring a distant Great Crested Grebe swimming and pruning a bit I was delighted to see the large and distinctive stature of a very charismatic bird the Grey Heron flying lankily through the air including spectacularly close ever my head. Its been years since I saw a Grey Heron at Lakeside so when I was just thinking this morning what my next really notable and out of the ordinary bird for me here might be I hadn’t had one since the Little Grebe the week before we went to Anglesey in June really so here was one and it felt so good to see. I took the ninth picture in this photoset of beech tree leaves in the sun also enjoying the sight of a willow tree in one of my pictures overooking the fenced off nature reserve areas today. I am dipping into learning different trees when I can using the PlantNet ID app which I use for flowers lately I did say I may make this a mission next year but thought there’s no time like the present I have no idea of if I will do this often at this stage so this was nice. 

My 15 minutes of butterfly counting ramped up as I walked towards the steps to the higher path and with Small Whites at the base of the well vegetated bank I was thrilled to notice the fine underwing and black edge markings of a Green-veined White. My first seen during a Big Butterfy Count this year which is always important to get as many species seen during this survey as possible and this meant there’s only two species I haven’t seen during a Big Butterfly Count here this year now. Small Tortoiseshell and one I’ve never seen before a day flying Jersey Tiger moth. So I am pleased with how I’ve done and with one week to go of the count you never know what could happen happen next. Between this point and leaving Lakeside anther win for perhaps runaway national leader for me Small White with five, Gatekeeper with four, Meadow Brown with two and one warm orange Comma seen flying over the railway track completed another fun count and it was great to see the Comma flying so strongly that it got two Gatekeepers in the air at one point which helped me to notice them the other side of the railway track. 

Also in strong flight along the northern path was a hawker dragonfly which looked beautiful and I saw doing the classic hawker summer move of looking me in the eye. An intimate moment indeed which was fantastic. I didn’t quite get the right binocular view nor did it land to confirm the species but Migrant or Brown Hawker seemed more probable than Southern with traces of brown I could make out on it. As has been the case so much lately I enjoyed very beautiful and lovely sky scenes at home this evening with the sun in and out today, I took the tenth and final picture in this photoset of one scene ending a special day to open the week. 

Wildlife Sightings Summary: One of my favourite birds the Great Crested Grebe, Canada Goose, Black-headed Gull, Grey Heron, Magpie, Jackdaw, Woodpigeon well at home too, Collared Dove well on the roof visible from my room too, Starling, House Sparrow, Goldfinch, Green-veined White, Small White, Comma, Meadow Brown, Gatekeeper and the dragonfly.

   Miho was the needy type.

   Rebecca was the more detached type.

   Logically or emotionally, either way, they were both aware of their own personalities and how they meshed and how they clashed. 

   That was okay. 

   Acceptable even. 

   But Miho still felt a little neglected.

   And Rebecca felt overwhelmed.

   All because Miho stared and stared and stared.

   Rebecca’s brow twitched as she was stared and stared and stared at.

   Miho sighed dreamily; watching from afar, wriggling around in the lounge adjacent to Rebecca and her desk; posed so lazily as though she were some languid and spoilt housecat - which, for all intents and purposes, she was.

   “Am I truly so interesting?” Rebecca asked, mildly annoyed.

   With a huff, she pushed up her spectacles which had begun to slide down her nose and she kept at pounding on the computer keys of the device in front of her, all hunched down and hunkered over it, up to her furrowed brows in work and coding.

   “Yes.” Miho swooned. “Yes, you are.”

   Rebecca harrumphed.

   Miho lifted herself up into a yoga-like cobra position on the lounge, her eyes gone wide, “It's true!”

   “It is not.” Rebecca snorted.

   “You look so cute when you're busy, you are completely fascinating, darling, even when I have no idea what it is you're up to your eyeballs in doing.” Miho gasped.

   Rebecca’s heart fluttered and yet, she rolled her eyes.

   “So, don’t mind me, I just want to watch you.” Miho offered.

   “Do you have to do it so intensely?” asked Rebecca.

   “Yes.” Miho replied with a decisive nod that made her high ponytail bob up and down with her reply.

   “Okay then.” Rebecca murmured, tempted to roll her eyes the other way but she didn’t.

   She just kept them glued to the screen in front of her.

   Akin to how Miho was keeping her eyes glued to Rebecca.

   She truly was fascinating.

   Her hands were beautiful.

   So small and dainty but with precision that Miho could never be able to imitate nor fathom.

   Rebecca’s fingers were so precise in how she struck each key without ever looking down, keeping her eyes on the prize as she wrote out line upon line of code, cross referencing it all with whatever information she kept within reach on her internet browsers.

   Oh, it was mesmerising.

   She couldn’t get enough of how elegant Rebecca was when she was so thoroughly immersed in her element like she was presently.

   Miho sighed.

   And Rebecca hunkered down again, the slightest hue of pink in her cheeks.

   She was so adorable.

   “And you’re certain you have to watch me?” Rebecca asked.

   “Yes, I am beyond certain.” Miho gushed.

   Now it was Rebecca’s turn to sigh - and she did most heartily.

   “I’m not going to get any work done like this.” she admitted, dejectedly, her hands receding back to the edge of her desk.

   “What, no? Why?” Miho exclaimed, most upset that her fabulous entertainment had been turned off.

   “I just can’t focus with you staring at me,” Rebecca said, “but, if you like, do you want me to teach you some basic coding? HTML and maybe even teach to make a Flippy Bird simulator if you can get the basics of up, down, left and right down.”

   Miho gasped again. “I would love that!” she exclaimed. “It never even occurred to me to ask you, you seem so serious, I didn’t want to distract you-”

   “You’ve distracted me either way.” Rebecca interrupted Miho’s ecstatic rambling, barely amused, but she smiled a small smile.

   She was honoured that Miho regarded her so highly - though she could be dumb and daft, the sincerity was there so Rebecca couldn’t begrudge her that.

   “I know,” Miho blushed, she spoke in a small voice, “but good intentions and all that.”

   “I know that too.” Rebecca told her in an equally quiet voice.

   “So, let’s get started.” Miho chirped, voice already rising in volume again to Rebecca’s bemusement.

   “Let’s get another chair or,” Rebecca was quiet, she poked the corner of her chin, looking away from her girlfriend with a little bit of embarrassment to her body language, “or if you would prefer, you can get up nice and close to see what I’m doing.”

   Miho squealed.

   And she did so at a volume which all made Rebecca’s eardrums bleed; she cringed but smiled since it was rather heart-warming to see Miho so enthusiastic about learning more about her own passion.

   Miho got up and Rebecca did the same.

   Standing up, chest to chest, it was hard not to become hyper-aware of just how tall Miho was, at least compared to how short Rebecca was stacked against anyone.

   Miho sat down in Rebecca’s spot and giggled at how warm her plush chair was.

   Rebecca then lowered herself down into Miho’s lap and she had a few reservations about doing so.

   Most of them were proven correct because Miho’s hands lunged forward and she clutched onto Rebecca like she was a seatbelt.

   Miho nuzzled Rebecca’s back and Rebecca groaned.

   “We’re going to get even less work done like this.” Rebecca grizzled but in a playful, even mild way. 

   “No, no, I promise, once I get the cuddles out of my system, we can put all the codes into my system.” Miho said and she laughed at her own joke and her word play.

   Rebecca exhaled from her nose, not quite a snort and it definitely wasn’t a bit of laughter but it was fondness regardless.

   She readied her hands atop the keyboard again, “If you don’t quit hugging me, you’re gonna miss your first lesson, missy.” Rebecca warned her as she picked out a new web document for Miho to learn from.

Antique Happy New Year Postcards with Flower Covered Objects

I have a collection of unique antique New Year postcards featuring objects covered with flowers. The floral choices of forget-me-nots and violets are rich with symbolic sentiment. These odd and charming images were popular around 1908, a great year for postcards in general. 

Ellen Clapsaddle flower-covered candy box, reading “Wishing You a Happy and Prosperous New Year.” I wish you the same!

Flower-covered train engine, with the message “A Happy New Year.” Note the red heart headlights!

Flower-covered green sleigh, with a green calendar topped with “1 January.” The “1″ is covered in red flowers. As seen in the photo below, the sender used this “A happy New Year” card for Christmas and New Year greetings.

Here’s an antique postcard featuring a floral cigar box, with box of matches and an ash tray to match. The ash tray has a cigar in it, with a little wisp of smoke. The postcard was published by International Art Publishing Company, number 817 and was printed in Germany.  It was postmarked in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. It is addressed to Mr. Asa Beer in Bath, PA.

This is an antique postcard with a violin covered in purple flowers, with the greeting “Best Wishes for a Happy New Year.” The postcard was published by the International Art Publishing Company, Series number 823.   There is some cancel ink on the front.  It is postmarked Lowell, MA on December 30, 1908 and addressed to Mr. & Mrs. Gustave Fingerlin in Arlington, RI.

The embossing is very evident on the message side of the violin postcard.

A flower-covered trumpet is featured on this postcard reading “With All Kind Wishes for The New Year.” It was never mailed or inscribed.

Much has changed in since these cards were sent, but sharing good wishes for the new year has not. 2020 was an especially difficult year for so many people, and I think we’re all ready to welcome 2021. Happy New Year, everyone!!
