Public service announcement!
If you see a service/emotional support clown in public, DO NOT INTERACT!! I’m tired of hearing story after story from my friends about how someone was distracting their service clown. If they have a vest on they’re working, end of story! Don’t try to get them to honk, show you a magic trick, and especially don’t try to feed them. Just pretend like they’re not there. Thank you

PSA TO ALL PARENTS LOOKING TO BUY THEIR CHILD A CLOWN!
Please do your research when picking the perfect silly companion, as we see far too many clowns getting brought to our sanctuary that were apparently ‘the wrong fit’ for the family.
For future reference here are some options of good first time clowns:
Birthdays, a subspecies of Party clown that are perfect for families with a few children. They’re not as outgoing as regular Party clowns but they are just as loving. Though be aware that they do need the same mental stimulation as all party clowns do.
Next is a Mime mix, Purebred Mimes can be a bit much for some people, but Mime mixes come with the quiet serene energy of a Mime without the more expensive lifestyle. They’re good for teens or older children.
Plush, Plush clowns are a bit pricey, but they’re the perfect clown for someone who wants a cuddle with their new friend. Plush clowns are good for older children, not toddlers, as toddlers tend to mistake them for actual stuffed toys.
Please look into clowns before buying them, they’re living creatures and need your help to live. Look into reputable breeders or go to your local clown shelter or sanctuary. Hope this helped, Have a lovely day!

Clown care in the rainy days??
Please i need help fr. As you guys know little Honk Honk was abandonned by his previous owners at a local circus after he started suffering from flakiness on his makeup. The owners tried to essentially change his makeup and tried to remove it with water first to do so which caused the illness, and then they left him out to die.
He's doing better now, but the rainy days and moist in the air are making him have very erratic attitudes :(. He's so scared of the water and the dampness he used to have a hard time drinking water, and now that it's raining (and when it rains here it rains a LOT) he's having a hard time and i don't know what to do! The clown doctor told me sedating him slightly would be the only way but i don't think i want my little Honkie to be sedated all day and sleeping. He's a party clown breed! He should be jumping around and making funky sounds!
Any help to help him feel at ease?

The Pierrot Clown
In my humble (and correct) opinion Pierrot clowns are by far the most elegant clown. Of course such a clown would be my favorite. All the way from the ruffles to the pom poms they have a theme, and they sick to it. The perriot in such a distinguish breed, unique in its simple and sad appearance.
For a fancy clown they are extremely loyal, unlike other fancies such as mines and opera clowns who have a tendency of running off if given the chance. Pierrots also preferring gifts and gestures over physical touch. They are great when living alone. They provide fantastic companionship, even when you can’t see them you can always feel them watching so you never feel alone.

Hello clownblr and clown husbandry community! I've recently found myself stumbled across some strey clowns while on a walk around a collage campus. I need some help identifying their breeds so I know how to properly care for them. Thank you so much in advance :0)

Hey everyone! Friendly reminder that, while I do understand the appeal of dressing up like a clown, it can be quite dangerous. If you own a clown, you might know that they can be extremely territorial and violent towards other clowns. This also goes for wild clowns
If you decide to go out dressed as a clown, or have a clown at home, please remember that hair colors and face patterns are not just pretty, they have a purpose. Please, do research so the patterns you use are safe.

I email my brother every week and I was afraid to talk with him about clowns and clown care, but it's such a huge part of my life now that I gave in and started talking to him about it. Luckily for me, it turns out he's already befriended and adopted a clown! His experience and story with his own clown was so beautiful that I just wanted to share it! Here's what he told me:
"Yo, speaking of clowns dude, I totally saved one off the street! He was a stray, no family in sight! So now I've got this epic sidekick—a total legend in the Homo Ridiculus crew, aka a clown. His name? Chuckles. His vibe? Perpetual laughter, big red nose, and a wardrobe that's straight outta a Skittles bag.
"Ever since Chuckles rolled into my life, it's been a wild ride of non-stop good times. Our crib? It's a color explosion with honks, squeaks, and laughter echoing off the walls 24/7.
"Chuckles ain't just a regular pet; he's a joy machine. Turning everyday stuff into hilarious adventures is his specialty. Balloons? Everywhere. Bubbles? Floating like it's no biggie. Our living room? A confetti-filled circus where Chuckles takes center stage.
"Morning rituals kick off with Chuckles rocking those clown kicks, juggling like he's auditioning for a talent show. It's a daily mood boost, no cap. Each toss and catch is like a dose of pure good vibes.
"When it's grub time, Chuckles insists on sharing confetti-shaped treats. We're talking kitchen shenanigans, with him trying to balance a spinning plate on his nose. It's not just a meal; it's a spectacle.
"Afternoons? Backyard takeover. Chuckles is all about those giant bubbles and parachute games. Dude's agility is off the charts, turning the mundane into Insta-worthy moments of joy.
"Evenings roll in with Chuckles dropping fire stories—epic tales of lands unknown that get me hooked. His expressions and wild gestures? Straight-up movie magic, teleporting me to a realm where laughs rule.
"Bedtime is equally fire. Chuckles drops a lullaby of honks and whispers, while glow-in-the-dark stars set the vibe for a dreamscape that's chill AF.
"Having Chuckles as my ride-or-die clown is a gift. His constant good vibes and infectious laughter flip the script on regular moments, turning them into epic memories. Together, we ride the happiness wave, where just chilling with my clown sidekick transforms every day into a lit adventure filled with love, laughter, and the magic of good times!"
The moral of this story is don't be afraid to come out to your family about clowns! They might be more open minded than you expect. Who knows, they could even have adopted a stray clown like my brother did! I wouldn't have ever expected it.

Hey nerds:)
Remember when I said all my aesthetics are nature based? I lied. Clowns. Clown core. Clown husbandry. BARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARKBARKWOOFOWOOFOWOOFGRGRGGG.
Anyways, I'm looking at getting a peirrot (I think that's how you spell) but I'm unsure. I know they're a more loyal breed, but I don't know how they'd do in an environment of multiple people since I know they're related to mimes (which tend to be more solitary).
Clownbr please help me figure this out😭

Jack-in-the-boxes, a rare yet amazing sight…
Jack-in-the-box, more commonly known as Boxes are not a very famous clown breed. They’re truly wonderful though, having a mischievous yet reclusive personality. Back before the domestication of clowns had reached Germany, the native habitat for Box clowns, they were known as pests. They have a bad habit of hiding in peoples walls, as all Box clowns have the urge to hide in compact spaces.
As domestication finally happened, Box clowns gained a large amount of popularity amongst those who had traveling lifestyles. Box clowns need little else than a source of food and water, their life being spent in boxes that make them perfect friends for those constantly moving.
The Box clown is an ambush predator, being a carnivorous clown species. They enjoy small cuts of meat or anything that can be well stored in a box. When caring for a clown like this patience is key, as they can be shy. You’ll know your Box clown is happy when they start playing music for you!
It’s sad that nowadays box clowns are a bit of a novelty, not many breeders have even heard of them let alone bred them. We here at the Silly Sanctuary love these little creatures though, and hope this post makes you all too.
Currently we don’t have any pure blooded Box clowns, the majority of those are feral. But we do have a small group of Box clown mixes! This individuals name is Popet, we aren’t sure exactly what she was mixed with but we know from her ears it’s party clown somewhat. She’s a sweetie pie and was very happy to have her picture taken. (Or maybe she was just happy cause she stole one of our interns sandwiches after he sat on her box-)

What milestones should clowns get to by each age on average? My research also said that they should be a year old and are able to be away from their mother but I'm confused about that, like would they still be a baby and are able to be away from mom or would they be full grown and be able to be away from mom? My clown just had a litter of chucklings and I want to make sure I'm doing this right
Hello! Thank you so much for the ask! I understand the confusion as the early stages of chuckling development go quite slowly and so it seems like a year could never be enough time for this small creature to mature enough to be separated from it's mother. Normally they're still entirely reliant on the mother for at least six months, with it taking a full four weeks for a jesters eyes to open, and eight weeks for your average scarer's teeth to sharpen up. But i do assure you by the end of the year they will be up and blabbering about the place doing tricks and whatnot. Development stages vary greatly on your breed, but just to give you a general idea. Scare clowns, mimes, and white-face clowns are born with open eyes. Jesters, rodeo clowns, will have their eyes open up within the first 4 weeks. It may take up to five, if it takes longer then that it could be a sign of a medical issue. Scare clowns and jesters are born with no teeth or significantly dulled teeth. In the case of jesters they should have grown in fully by 5 weeks. Scare clowns teeth sharpen by 8 weeks. I am not aware of other clowns with that sort of pattern. but I believe mimes have baby teeth and grownup teeth. Baby teeth should start falling out at around 12-16 weeks. Growing back *fully* by 20-24 week mark. (That is a bit of a side note - mimes can take a little longer to fully develop. due to the way they were "domesticated" they have some health issues as well) Most clowns should be fully able to feed themselves by the 24 week mark, with again the exception of mimes. But even mimes *should* be able to eat by then. They'll start performing tricks at the youngest at about 10 weeks. At the oldest around 30 weeks. Longer then that can be a sign of lack of enrichment or depression. Chuckling and guffawing and other such noises start generally either from 0-12 weeks depending on breed. Normally they start cleaning themselves at around 5 months old. Overall, by a year for most clowns, you clown should be playing tricks, eating, taking care of their own hygiene, making noises, and running around. They are still quite young don't get me wrong, it's sort of like an 8 week old kitten. Quite young, still a baby, but old enough that it can be separated from it's parent. There are some studies coming out that say 2 years across the board is better for socializing chucklings, I'm not personally a clown breeder, I used to work for a shelter but I didn't often get to see those clowns full development, so I can't say which is better. But that's what some newer studies are saying. The general average lifecycle for a clown is 0-1 Infant (dependent on mum) 1-5 Child (Somewhat Independent) 5-10- Adolescent (Beginning to fully mature) 10-15. This is debated. I would say they're only fully matured at 15, but some people like to argue as young as 10. (Well some really shitty farms like to argue younger then that but fuck them) 15-30. Adult clown 30+ senior. I hope this helps and is cohesive, I've had quite the long day so apologies for any spelling mistakes. I hope your chucklings do well in the world. If you wanted to send pictures I'd be absolutely thrilled to see the silly fellas.

The Clownverse:
This is just the very basics of my clownverse. Future world building will come soon.
Nonclowns are not yet covered in this post
True Clowns:
Originated from earth
Fully sapient and sentient (the same as a human)
Lack ears, but do have hearing organs
Only have 4 fingers (including the thumb)
The average height is between 5 and 7 feet
Always bright and colorful and has a happy demeanor
Always extroverted and kind
No specific breeds, just varying color schemes and general themes
Their skin markings are their pigment, not makeup
Eye colors are similar to that of humans, with the exception of violet
Humanoid figure, does not move on all fours
Has blunted teeth but sharper cuspids than humans
They honk to communicate, which is a language in and of itself
Clowns can learn any language just like a human
Pet Clowns:
Originated from earth
Fully sentient, similar to that of a house pet like a dog
Have ears, unlike true Clowns
Can have anywhere from 2 to 6 fingers (including the thumb, or lack thereof)
Size varies wildly from clowns that are inches tall, all the way to 8ft giants
Breeds very heavily from clown to clown
Bred for specific traits, looks, personalities, and performing
Their skin markings are also their skin pigment, although some clowns lack markings all together, and owners opt to paint their faces
Eye color can be anything in the ROYGBIV spectrum (yellow/orange are uncommon, though)
Generally humanoid figure but has the ability to move on all fours
Teeth and oral anatomy vary depending on the breed
Can speak but generally will just repeat phrases like a parrot does
They have the ability to honk and squeak to communicate with other pet clowns. This is not a true language and is just tonal, comparable to dogs
Cosmic Clowns:
They come from deep space or other planets
Fully sapient and sentient, some all-knowing
They mimic both pet clowns and true clowns
Some wear makeup, and some mimic the facial markings of clowns
Teeth are usually very, very sharp
Can be hostile or peaceful
Eye color is always bright orange/yellow
Mimics the humanoid form but doesn't always move properly
Has the ability to physically morph in unnatural ways
They can speak any language, some even speak in tongues
Mostly live underground in areas of low population
_______________________
So basically, True Clowns evolved alongside humans, whereas Pet Clowns evolved similar to the way monkeys did. Cosmic Clowns are a whole other thing entirely.
