I’m reading Casefile #9… guys…

Frank and Joe try to go under cover into this fancy smart private school but have to pass the entrance exam.

Frank studies, because he’s smart like that.

Joe, my stupid pretty boy, thinks he’s already a genius and fails miserably.

BUT WAIT 😂

Joe shows up at the school in disguise with black hair dye (strictly temporary) and a black thin mustache as a janitor… gets CAUGHT snooping and FIRED on his first shift.

Meets up with Frank (who is barely treading water at this school) still wearing the black hair dye but no mustache.. Frank wants to show him some notes and goes “lay low, I don’t want you to get in trouble.”

My beautiful stupid amazing boy Joe goes “don’t worry! I got this!” And pulls out a CURLY RED WIG and puts it on.

To quote Frank:

“Terrific. Now you’ve gone from Dracula to Little Orphan Annie”

I wish I was making this up 😂 I love them so much and I need fanart. I’m dying to see art based off of Shaun and Parker with this scene. I beg anyone who can do it!

Okay guys, I think we’re in agreement that the new game will be Mystery of the Seven Keys! The next question is where that game will take place?

I’ve been following all the puzzles, and I’ve seen so many references to keys, the colors yellow and black, tea, and lights.

Now it’s just figuring out how all these things relate to each other. I love a good puzzle!

It’s me yo girl… jk I don’t think anyone follows me but it’s okay I’m just vibing and typing out my Nancy Drew thoughts bc THE NEW GAME IS COMINGGGGGGG! I’m so exciteeeeeed. They just posted more shit on Instagram/FB, I’m living for it, and I’m p high. So yeah, anyway…I was thinking about how I’m especially looking forward to Nancy Drew and the Mystery of the Seven Keys (sidenote: wonder what the acronym is going to be?!?!? MSK? MYS? KEY?)bc I LOVE the ND storylines in general. Even the games that I really don’t fucks with and play as often (I’m looking especially at you, CRY, RAN, and MED), I still love clicking through most of the conversations, playing out the little side missions/mini games, and just exploring the overall gamescape. So…

Even if KEY (I’m going with that for myself for now) is as horrible to play as MID was, it will (hopefully!!!) still have a good storyline and fun little tasks and random phone calls … all of those classic ND things that make all the difference. Like… even with MID, I really did love the Johnny cake thing or whatever, and it was kinda cool to explore “Salem” and learn some history. I also LOVED the herbs task. But, of course, HATE HATE HATE the non-point-and-click… I can’t even put into words whatever the fuck MID used to move around! I am sure there is a word for it, but frankly, I don’t care to use it. I hated it. 0/10. Still hate it. But, again, I know I’ll go back to it SOMEDAY bc I get in just the right mood… all bc of that storyline and the characters … and the herbs!!!!! But back to KEY…

The Czech Republic?!?!?!? I cannot WAIT to see more of the environment. I am SO EXCITED to find out how/why ND finds herself there. And, of course, I’m looking forward to playing the coffee (I think???) mini-game that HER keeps teasing!!!

I’m also LOVING the clues that HER keeps posting. That energy is really great and so appreciated! And, special shout-out to all of the fucking smart ass mofos out there who keep solving their little hints and clues and puzzles (which are all HARD AF, in my humble opinion) and then posting them for lazy ppl like me!!!! I love a good walkthrough, love all of the helping hands… I do really TRY to solve a lot of puzzles myself, but when it comes to the more difficult ones (especially these clues that HER keeps posting! Like damn!), I usually need some assistance, lol.

Welcome to the Hot Kettle Cafe!

This was SUCH a fun project for me to work on!!! While Blackmoor Manor, Wickford Castle, and many other massive undertakings sit unfinished in my save file, the HKC was a perfect medium-sized build that I could actually complete within a reasonable time frame 😂

Ramblings + DL info under the cut!

I should warn that I prioritized aesthetic over functionality. A sim can't purchase or own a cafe (boo), so the lot type is simply set to "Retail" for now. Feel free to delete some of the counters and add a cafe bar if you wish to turn it into an actual cafe! Also, the booths don't snap to the tables so they're likely just decor. If you want usable booths, I recommend snapping the "Braided Seat" chair from City Living to the tables, as that will sort of emulate the look of a booth.

Lastly, all of my builds are CC-free, but they tend to use a loootttt of packs.

Poems & Codes Playtest Update!

Huge thanks to everyone who has played the Poems & Codes demo and given feedback! The demo has been updated with a brand new Theme Selection screen and some fancy effects.

For those who don't know, Poems & Codes is a sequel/companion game to Prose & Codes. Both games are all about cryptograms (also known as substitution ciphers, like those in the journal from Ransom of the Seven Ships)!

Explore the wonderful world of poetry through deceptively simple cryptograms. Use your knowledge of the English language to decrypt 30 poem excerpts in the demo from a range of classic poetic themes (like love, death, childhood, etc).

The game has a light mode & a dark mode (default), and I'm curious which one players prefer. I'm also looking to gauge how well the game is optimized on various hardware, so if you have to turn off any visual effects to make the game run better, please let me know!

Once you solve a poem, you can read the poet's biography and download their anthology FOR FREE through Project Gutenberg (we will donate 10% of profits to them once the game is sold)!.

My relationship with Nancy Drew games

I have recently been v active in looking at Her Interactive/Nancy Drew/"clue crew" tumblr, but I haven't played that many of the games. I played 1-6 +DDI as a kid and loved them.

I recently watched M*rk Z*ck*rb*rg's keynote for "Meta" (0/10, don't watch) and got very sad when they started talking about customizing your "work avatar" and decorating your work cubicle in the metaverse and shit. But then I thought, what they're getting at here is the immersive experience of being in a video game. That is a familiar feeling to me, because I played games as a kid. In order to quell my fear of the metaverse, I played DDI again. This unlocked lots of warm feelings of nostalgia, and so I kept going. I played Danger by Design, Treasure in the Royal Tower (replayed, but had forgotten what happened), Warnings at Waverly Academy, Secret of the Old Clock, and now I'm playing Trail of the Twister. And I fucking LOVE them. It's incredible how they hold up, and super exciting and challenging to play these games for the first time as an adult.

I do intend to revisit more of the ones I played as a kid, but in a way I feel like I'm new to the whole thing and I'm so excited about it.

But I'm also very lonely!!! I have one close friend who also played them as a kid but 1. she's not actively playing them now and 2. she lives far away.

So basically I'm introducing myself to the #cluecrew here. I don't have a separate Nancy Drew blog like many of you do, so if you follow me you have to sign up for all my other stuff (i'm just a girl sitting in front of her blog asking you to love me) but please reach out if you want to talk about characters and scenes and puzzles and it's locked and music! I am obsessed with the music.

Y’all, it’s got to be Austria!

My bet is that the new game will have a location at cathedral based off of St Stephens in Vienna. A lot of sleuths have noticed that one of the newsletter images looks like a blurred out cathedral spire, and the tile in the announcement picture is super similar!

If we go on that theory, the Habsburg monarchy flag was yellow and black, and they were the ruling monarch in Austria-Hungary from the mid 15th century to the early 1800s. They held the title of the Holy Roman Emperor during this time. The Hasburgs also played a big part in building St. Stephens Cathedral!

Also the tile is very similar to that of St. Stephen cathedral and the nearby Hoburg Imperial Palace!

Based on the fact Her copyrighted the name Mystery of the Seven Keys a few years back, a lot of the teasers have to do with keys. So I feel like I’m pretty confident that’ll be mystery number 34!

Maybe the plot will be finding keys in these locations and other significant places to the Hasburgs throughout Europe. They have palaces in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, and others that we could get to see!

CCPT23 is over and I want to say thank you to everyone who listened/reblogged/liked/commented on my playlists!! Ive been sitting on this project for like six years and its finally done and I feel very seen

It was so good to reconnect with the games and do a quick review of them all. The random order worked so well imo and i loved how the games still played off each other even tho it was random, i just think its neat!

I dont engage with fandom a whole lot but I’m glad yall are still here posting about these silly mystery games on tumblr.com. A lot of the music included has personal significance/fits into my interpretation of the games and its okay if you dont like them. I had a lot of fun combing thru spotify and making the images with snapchat and i hope you got some enjoyment from somepart of it too
