13x15/16 - detailed analysis
These two episodes are focused on Barnes and the team, but we still can find some good garvez shades.
13x15
We have just one scene/shade, at the end, when the team is came back. Rossi proposes to go at O'Keefee's. Then Penelope appears.
Penelope asks “Did someone say O'Keefe's? Where have you guys been? You're 20 minutes late.”
And who is the one that answers her? Luke, off course. “Our flight got delayed.”. Okay, his smile is probabily for the situation, because they think they have defeated Barnes. But it seems a bit weird. A bit exaggerated. And his eyes look at her in his usual way. Like she was a miracle.
She replies “Uh, ok. Cool, guys. The radar did not report any weather.”. Considering only their expressions, they seem like kids. They like to argue and glance under any pretext.
So, they explain to Pen what happened with Linda Barnes. Then they go to the bullpen and meet Emily and Reid.
Emily says that she heard something about drinks. Luke adds “Yes. And I am buying the first round.”. Look at Pen face while she listens him. She can't believe it. Indeed, she turns.
And she starts her rambling, but is interrupted “You heard the ma…”. By the witch, Linda Barnes in person.
Garcia is probably the first who sees her. But I love this frame, because Luke is focused only on her, as always. He is forced to look away.
This is the moment when Barnes says Garcia need a new beginning in another place. I know that Luke sadness here is not only for this reason, but surely, it's a good part of it. Especially if we think at what will happen in the next ep.

13x16
In this episode we have two shades. For a detailed analysis of the fact that Adam Rodriguez directed it, and his focus on Garcia character, take a look here.
The first thing to say is about Garcia replacement. Ned is the exactly opposed, the anti-Penelope, as Matt said. Anyway, Luke offers to help him with the searching. Then, the guy goes away and JJ says that it's not his fault he is not Garcia. Luke replies that the lazy part is surely his fault.
Then Matt asks “You think Garcia knows how much we miss her?”, and looks at Luke, casually. We indeed see his reaction. He si meditative and sad.
Second this, but it's just a crazy technicism. When they, I mean the team, met again after the split, Penelope and Luke are sitting exactly at opposite side of the couch, and they are the only one highest.
Then we have nothing untile the last scene. The BAU is back, and so Penelope. Her entrance is emphasised (and this happened also in other occasions, like 14x11, at "Lisa" housewarming party).
When Luke sees her, he starts his "happiness dance", tapping on his desk, with his hands, like he was making a drum roll. And he is too fucking happy for a coworker.
Then, she says “I couldn’t wait until morning” and he stares at her like an idiot. She smiles at JJ and also at him.
They talk about Barnes finally downfall. At the end-end, Penelope turns on him, asking if he can help her with her box; Luke replies positively, off course. We can't hear them, for the music, but the fact is that he answers almost at the same moment she is making her question!
[And they seem just a couple. Don't you believe it? In the good doctor, after a similar team split episode, we see at the end Lea and Shaun making the same thing, and, uh-oh, they are a true couple].

Luke evolution
Despite the fact CM writers seem not like too much Luke Alvez character, he evolved a lot, since his first apparition on the show.
I already talked about his shift from lone wolf to a proud member of a family, not only a team. The big proofs are in episodes 13x15, when he told Barnes that he belonged to the BAU, and 15x9, when he said that they are a family.
Another changing is noticeable in his desk, so anonimous at the beginning, and with some items on CME.
But this time I want to talk about something deeper. In his first ep, 12x1, we met a dark Luke, member of Fugitives Task Force. Rossi reached him to tell him that there was an "old friend", between the fugitives. Luke had two chats with Hotch. In the first, the chief said that "men like Daniel Cullen and Peter Lewis belong in 5-foot by 8-foot cells where they can live out their lives as failures, instead of dying thinking that they accomplished something." and Luke replied "I'm not there yet". Then the younger asked the other if he didn't want to kill Mr Scratch; Aaron replied with the same question, and Luke said "I took an oath to uphold the laws of this country. So… Yeah. Yeah, I want to kill him."
In S14, after Phil murder, Luke decided to cross the private justice, and Emily and Matt reached him just in time.
But then, in S16, evolution, Luke said to Tyler "You want revenge, and we can only promise you justice". This means that he changed a lot his mind about this. Maybe the demon against he fought, became smaller. Maybe he is/was just stronger. Anyway, I think it's still interesting.
All my ramblings
