It's a year today since Australia qualified for the Olympics, since that match against Vietnam on 11 March 2020 they have changed coach but have not met up once as a national team due to covid. The Olympic Football tournament is set to start in 4 months and 10 days...
(Not to mention the fact that the final two qualification places haven't even been set yet - still don't know if it'll be S.Korea or China / Chile or Cameroon!)

Well that was an absolute dumpster fire of a match
PLAYER OF THE MATCH: VAR, for playing with everybody's emotions. And being a giant pain in the arse.
Tumblr media
Shit went south after that second England goal
If you ask me, Cameroon were a bit unprofessional there....
I get it, emotions were high and it's an important stage to be at... But... Come on man. Could've dealt with it a bit better
And honestly, Cameroon could've easily made a come back if a little bit more composure was shown. They were making some beautiful breaks at the sleeping England defence.
I was sympathizing with Cameroon till the last minute but then they started pulling shit like Pushing the Ref, and Injuring players ( and deliberately stalling the match 🙃)
And England, Jesus Christ.... I honestly had hope that they could win this World Cup, given their performance in the qualifiers and the She Believes cup. But not so likely anymore.
WHY IS THE DEFENCE SLEEPING HALF THE GAME?!Steph and Bright are supposed to the stonewalls of the defence. I thought maybe it'll improve once the knockouts begin... doesn't look like it.
And the attack, it's as if something is lacking, something missing... Kirby, my love, my baby, my queen...what is happening? It's great that Phill Neville feels she has great play-making potential but she's clearly not used to playing in that position. And Toni Duggan. Hit the target, make better runs 😭
Step👏It👏Up👏 Ladies👏!!
The goal by Alex Greenwood was magnifique *chef's kiss*
And congrats to Leah Williamson for getting debut 💪 Should've been sooner.
-sigh-
England's been disappointing so far, oh well. Nothing new
-sigh-

Loving the inclusion of the Women's World Cup in David Squires' football cartoons for The Guardian. A few of my favourites so far:
