I’m back from the first three missions of the Cold War campaign. I have no words. It’s AWESOME.

I only started playing MW2 back in January so I wasn’t familiar with a lot of the older games. I don’t think Cold War makes the old mark because it was released in 2020. Mw2 was in 2022 and I only bought and played that this year- my first call of duty game. I wish I had’ve taken interest in the franchise a whole lot earlier because the modern warfare series in 2009 hits different by a lot.

Anyways, Cold War is amazing in my eyes during first impressions. I’ve got to not only jump onto another rooftop on slow motion as Mason, I also got to start playing as “Bell.” I’ve already noticed how weird it is that Adler seems to be joined to the main character by the hip. Like I know it’s probably just cpu behaviour for him to consistently look back over his shoulder to make sure I’m following him even though I’m right behind him, but I know it’s actually just detail. I already know about the brainwashing in this game and it doesn’t take the enjoyment out of it for me because I can still think about the impact a perceptive player would get from such a small detail. It’s just kinda like “ummmm.”

I got to make choices in dialogue, drive a remote control bomb car under a plane trying to take off to get god I forgot his name. I think it was Qasim. I’ve no idea if I spelled that right but I know who I’m talking about. Oh no, news of Perseus.

Also Frank Woods sounds like someone who smokes. He’s got that raspy lil voice and Adler doesn’t. I found something on the evidence board that made me chuckle. It was something to do with Frank very seriously handing a pack of cigarettes to Adler in the description of a cigarette box on the evidence board. I’ll have to make sure to get photo of that as it was one of the highlights of what I played through.

Also Adler isn’t just a bitch? He seems like a decent person.

You know what impressed me a good bit? The lock picking in the mission where you have to sneak around that apartment in Berlin of a dude I don’t remember the name of. Anyways him and his wife and child are in there while you sneak around looking for the briefcase. You have to use the blue light to find the secret room by pushing the wardrobe and a hanged picture to get in. That was literal spy vibes. That mission nailed it.

I also really like the way you choose a mission to go into to play. You do it through an interactive evidence board. A very small but effective thing as we’re trying to gather evidence on Perseus after Qasim spoke about him on the mission with the plane that was blown up.

An overall awesome campaign that I’m in love with.

Also quick bonus; the music playing in that chopper in Fracture Jaw towards the start of that mission was good. Zoned out from what Adler was saying for a small moment.

And that’s all I have to say so far. Looking forward to more of it.
