Ninjago tumblr is actually insane. With most fandoms I can tell where the popular memes came from, but I have no fucking clue where “crabjago” from ages ago came from. Who had the idea for Onceler Morro? Why only now has “Cole screaming Sunday” been a thing?

broke my promise to myself and actually watched the jey/gunther match and let me tell you... whoever booked that finish wanted jey to look like an idiot. mega rant under the cut which you should honestly read im not your mama but you should read it
he splashes gunther after getting dominated for 80% of the match and an (honestly underwhelming) spear and we're meant to believe the +2yr champion who's beaten virtually everyone on the roster (including drew who recently beat jey TWICE) was about to be defeated right there?......okay............ but it gets worse
when the referee (for no real good reason) stops the count at 2 after jimmy rings the bell, jey "forgets" about gunther and turns his back to him, allowing gunther to get back up almost IMMEDIATELY (remember we were meant to think he was about to be beaten 5 seconds earlier) yet jey quickly superkicks him BUT THEN decides to dive at jimmy on the outside instead of going directly for another splash (girl help) so ofc when he does go for the splash, gunther gets the knees up, and to add a cherry on top of this shit sunday, pins jey right there after performing no extra offense - doesn't even roll him up, jey just lies there flat on his back and gets pinned (while michael cole screams "GUNTHER ROLLS UP JEY USO" to make me even more mad, apparently, as zero actual rolling takes place in the ring - just a leg hook & weight on the shoulders combo... and not a particularly vicious one either) I just ??????
Tumblr media
and of-fucking-course as the TV feed gets cut, cue cody and punk who come out all smiles ready to do the usual fanservice routine for the live crowd and suddenly jey is mostly done selling what just happened and is smiling along with whatever you wanna call it - sending the crowd home happy?? since when did that become mandatory for broadcast shows??? why can't emotionally devastating moments count just as much when it comes to delivering a satisfying ending to the live crowd??? are you telling me they couldnt have had jey walk to the back WHILE SELLING the heartbreak/frustration of what happened and THEN send cody out to do the fanservice thing??? fuck maintaining suspension of disbelief I guess - you can't even argue that "it's fine it was just a treat for the live crowd" because WWE has posted the footage everywhere and promoted it heavily.
imagine if after the camera stopped rolling at last year's rumble, sami had got up, undone kevin's handcuffs and they both hugged and cut a cheerful promo at the crowd - everyone would've blasted wwe for undermining the impact of that finish and not letting the moment breathe.
here's another, even more similar example - remember what happened after summerslam when jimmy attacked jey? he sold the devastation of the moment all the way until he exited the arena, so why is this any different? because it's "just" TV and not a PPV? nah, i'll tell you why: because wwe does not give a shit about this current version of jey's character - he's there to spew the same catchphrase 100x an hour (because it sells merch and pops the crowd let's be honest), display a grand total of two personality traits, and rub his popularity off onto the people wwe actually consider stars
for comparison - you cannot tell me that if it was cody in this position (just lost an important match thanks to the most important person in his life + got attacked by them on top of it) wwe wouldn't have had him look devastated or cut an emotional, tearful promo that would've then been posted and promoted everywhere
"chill, it's not that serious" my apologies for wanting something i love (and KNOW can be so much better with minimal effort) to have a basic level of logic and thought put into it, it's not like wrestling booking is rocket science and we know wwe is NOT incapable of actually delivering good stuff 🤷??? the standards for this show are so damn low and seeing no one else be bothered by it does my fucking head in ouch ouch wheres the aspirin bye

Carnations | Cole Brookstone x reader Part 4
A singular pink carnation in return for a relationship? Good deal.
Tumblr media
Today was Sunday. Would Cole fulfil his promise? Peach and Lloyd were on the couch, cuddled, Peach almost falling asleep against his side. I walked in and he gave me a smile before focussing back on the TV. Friends. Peach loved Friends. Her favourite character was between Joey and Chandler. Lloyd’s was Phoebe. He loved how she was so herself and free to do so. And mine was obvious.
“Morning.” I said and they both said it back before I shoved Lloyd’s feet and sat when they were.
“Working today, Pookie?” Peach asked and I shook my head.
“Is that nickname serious staying?” Lloyd asked and I nodded.
“We’ve assigned nicknames. You’re Pookie-dookie, she’s Pookie-Wookie and I’m Pookie.” I told him and he nodded.
“So we’re the Pookies?” He asked and I gasped.
“I’m changing the group name.” I said quickly and heard Peach giggle.
“Add the takeaway man.” Peach said and we laughed, remembering the incident.
“Ooh that makes me want breakfast.” I said and Lloyd jumped in, excited. Almost knocking Peach off but keeping her against his chest still.
“I want waffles!” He said and I smiled.
“We should order from that everything breakfast place!” I said they agreed and we both looked at Peach.
“I called the man Pookie! I’m not calling.” She said and me and Lloyd quickly played rock, paper, scissors. I won! He groaned and got out his phone.
“Don’t call him Pookie.” I warned him and he made a face.
“I’m not gonna call him Pookie.” He said and stuck his tongue out to which I mocked him.
“You guys are like children.” Peach said and Lloyd rung the man.
“Hey Pookie.” He looked up as we both held a hand over our mouths and tried not to scream with laughter. “I want place an order for breakfast?… Delivery please.” Peach started biting her fist as I started hitting the back of the couch as Lloyd carried on with our order.
“Oh my- oh my god.” Peach breathed. Trying to regain her breath. “No one look at me.” She said hushed.
“Thank you, the name’s Dareth Brown.” He said and we looked at him funny. “10 times out of 10 they don’t deliver the food if they know it’s me they’re delivering to.” He said and the mood dampened a little.
“You called the man Pookie…” Peach said and he deadpanned. We started laughing again.
“Oh it’s funny is it?” Lloyd said before tickling Peach who squealed and I went to laugh at her. “You find it funny too, huh?” He said before leaning over shocking me in the ribs causing me to jump and back away. Peach jumped on his back and started tickling behind his ears making him fold immediately and went for his ribs too which he started kicking. “Okay! Enough! I give up! You win!” He surrendered and we laughed. A knock on the door made us stop. I looked to peach who normally gets the door and Lloyd leaned back, placing all his weight on her.
“You get it.” She said and I huffed. Getting up.
“Hey…Cole.” I said, staring up in shock at the… nervous? Man in front of me. He pulled a singular, pink, carnation out from behind his back.
“A singular pink carnation. Just like you wanted!” He said and I took it.
“Thank you… wanna come in?” I asked and he peeked in to see Lloyd and Peach watching and eavesdropping on the conversation.
“Sure.” They both turned away to the TV.
“We just ordered breakfast if you want anything!” Lloyd said and Cole waved him off.
“I’ll order myself.” He said and Lloyd gave him a thumbs up. I only noticed his and Peach’s matching pyjamas bottoms just now. Cole gave them a look before sitting down in the armchair no one ever used. “I see what our team leader does in his spare time.” Cole said and I laughed,
“Better than whatever you’re doing, Cole.” I looked over to Cole who winked at me.
“Not for much longer.” He said and I smiled.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“No! Joey is best character! He eats a lot and he gets laid the most-!”
“You just like him because he’s like you!”
Cole and Lloyd’s argument over who’s the best friends character has been going on for about 10 minutes now whilst me and Peach did actual housework that we’d put off for too long.
“I need a big strong boy to help me put these reusable tubs in the top cupboard for me.” Peach said and they both looked at each other before jumping up and tackling each other to the floor.
“-she’s my girlfriend!”
“-I need to impress my in-laws!”
“Found the stool!” I yelled. “It was under our- split in half- kitchen counter.” I said. And Peach sighed.
“I don’t know how the hell we’re gonna afford a new one. Plus the landlord is gonna kill me.” Just as she went to slam her head against the fridge it glitched and came back… normal?! Un-split?! In one piece again?! I screamed. The boys stopped tussling for a moment.
“Well that solves it.” Peach said and I turned to her.
“Glitches are glitching!!” I said and they all looked at me confused.
“They do that.” Cole said and i huffed.
“You know what I mean!” I said and Peach nodded.
“Look… it’s not that serious- right now!” Peach said and I frowned.
“So we’re not gonna do anything.” I said and she rolled her eyes.
“I’ll tell Greenie but other than that I can’t do anything else.” Peach said and the boys nodded, coming to her defence.
“Why don’t me and you go out? Get lunch?” Cole said and I gave him a look. “Please, to make up for the first one.” He said and I gave in.
“Hey, I don’t think the first one was too bad! Skylor seemed lovely!” Peach joked and I shoved her. “I think she’d be a perfect match for Kai!” She added and Lloyd shoved her.
“Stop trying to be funny, this is serious.” He said before stalking over to Cole and crossing his arms. He looked him up and down before sighing.
“So you wanna take Y/n out, huh?” Lloyd said and Cole looked at him confused.
“Yeah that’s what I just said-“ Lloyd started circling him.
“Mm.” He hummed. “Pookies! Come in.” Me, Peach and Lloyd huddled.
“What the fuck?!” Cole said.
“Now do you really want to go out with… that.” Lloyd said and I laughed.
“Yes.” I told him and him and Peach gave each other a look.
“Let’s not be hasty… let’s see.” She said and looked up at him. “He’s, tall, fit, good-looking and clearly packing-“
“Do you wanna go out with him or does she?” Lloyd asked and she hushed him.
“She’s not gonna settle for someone like Jay.” She said and Lloyd frowned.
“What’s wrong with Jay?”
“Nothing! He just talks too much and I can’t deal with that in my house often.” Peach said and Lloyd hummed.
“That’s half the reason I come here a lot.” He admitted. “Okay!” He said before we all stood up straight and looked at him.
“She will be back by 10. There will be no funny business and anything under the waist-! I don’t wanna hear about. Kapeesh?” Lloyd said and Cole shook his hand.
“Kapeesh. Okay let’s go!”
“I’m in my pjs!”
“Oh shit.”

It takes effort to have a relationship, it's hard. Always having to consider another person's feelings and own opinion when making decisions and it defines how you interact with other people. You always have to take one step back so no one can get the wrong impression. Goofing around is easy. Sleeping with together and doing all the fun parts of a relationship whilst still having the same energy as friends. You could kiss, make out, hold hands, sleep in the same bed, just hangout together still stupid hours and laugh together like normal. Goofing around is easy. When you don't catch feelings.
“-I’ll do anything please!”
“I think I’m gonna make it my Lock Screen…”
“Cole please…”
“Hmm…”
“-please!”
“Okay… just for you.”
“Thank you.”
He wrapped an arm around me and kept me close. We were stargazing. And by that I mean we broke onto the rooftop of some building, placed down a blanket and huddled close. It was winter.
“So what do you do for work?” I asked and he sighed.
“I’m security.” He said and I nodded.
“That makes so much sense. I was imagining you as some kind of office worker that had to wear a suit and tie… that made me laugh.”
“What? Me wearing a suit and tie?” He asked, offended and I nodded, starting to giggle.
“Yeah.” I said and he gasped.
“Oh it’s funny is it?!” He said leaning down to touch our foreheads and I laughed. I felt his hand on my chin and I looked up at him. “I’m so lucky.” He closed the gap and my heart fluttered.
It takes effort to have a relationship, it's hard. Being with Cole wasn’t.
‘A singular pink carnation for my flower x’
Whenever he was busy, he dropped the flower off at the door or ordered it to me with the same note each time. I smiled. I replaced the dead carnation for the new one and put it on the window sill. Some animal always took it away for themselves and I liked that it would be wanted by another.
“-my favourite movie will forever be Rocky, the first one, because it just…” I have no clue what he was saying, I just loved looking at him, watching him, feeling him. “You’re not listening to a word I’m saying.” He said and I smiled.
“No, I’m looking.” I said and he smiled.
“I like looking at you too.” He said and I smiled harder somehow.
“Stop…” I said, meaninglessly and he just pulled me onto his chest as we turned back to the TV.
3 months. It’s been three months since we started dating. We’ve taken it slow. He doesn’t stay the night, we haven’t slept together, we hold hands and kiss and cuddle and give each other nice nicknames and don’t see other people. It’s nice. I love like him a lot.
“It’s time to take this to the next level.” It told him and his eyes widen.
“What?” He said.
“Follow me.” I led him into my room and he looked around, confused.
“What’s going on, flower?” He asked and I smiled, nervously. I hit play on my speaker and Lana started playing.
“I made a joint playlist.” I said and he smiled. Bringing me in, leaning down and kissing me. I stood up on my tip toes before stopping him. “Wait!” I jumped on my bed and he laughed before walking closer. I kissed him again. This way I could save both our necks.
“I’ve never been this happy, baby.” He said and I smiled.
“I make you happy?” I asked and he nodded.
“More than anything.” He told me and I shrugged.
“Yeah you’re alright too.” I said and he laughed at me before grabbing me and pulling me across his lap.
“Alright?!” He questioned as he kissed all over my face and I giggled. “I tell you you’re the moon to my Earth and you say I’m alright?!” He asked and I laughed.
“Okay! Okay! You make me very happy.” I said and he kissed my forehead.
“I’ll take it.”
I knew about having a relationship. But falling in love? I’m clueless.
0:57————|——— -2:10
It was raining, pouring and freezing. I stopped and stared up at the sky before laughing.
“This again, doll? I thought we talked about this.” I heard Earth and I didn’t even reply to his comment. “You must be colder than ice is. I won’t be calling him to assist me.” He said and I just smiled. “Your awfully happy.” He said and I just giggled. “Considering you’re in a soaking wet hoody in the rain whilst it’s currently 6°.” He added.
“I don’t care! I don’t care if I die tonight! Wanna know why?” I asked, so giddy.
“Mmm.” He hummed and I grabbed both his arms.
“Because I’m in love.” I said and he went unresponsive. I didn’t give him the chance to reply either as I squealed in happiness and led the way home.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Oh my god, Y/n. C’mon! What’s up with you?” Peach asked, she’d just swung the door open to see me and Earth.
“She’s in love.” Earth told her and I giggled.
“She’s drunk.” Peach clarified as she grabbed the edge of my hoodie. “C’mon get this wet shit off.” I raised my hands and let her strip me, unaware I was stripping to my underwear in front of the Earth ninja.
“I’m in love Peach.”
“Congrats. It’s the best thing you’ll ever feel. I don’t know why you have to get this drunk to admit it.” She said, wrapping a towel around me that had clearly just been folded from out the dryer. It was warm. “Thank you.” She said to Earth who saluted. “Oh! And congrats to you too.” She winked to him and I giggled.
“Congrats! For whatever it is!” I added and he nodded. “I’ll see you soon, Y/n.” He said before leaving.
“He’s sweet.” I said and Peach nodded.
“All the ninja are. That’s how you can never get rid of them.” Peach said and I laughed. “C’mon, let’s get you in your jamas and something to eat.”
0:57————|——— -2:10
Cole walked through the halls of the monastery. He took of his mask and smiled to himself. He looked up to see Lloyd, still in his Gi and on his way to the kitchen.
“Hey bro, how was patrol-“
“I’m in love.” Cole blurted out and Lloyd smiled before hugging him. Cole hugged him tighter in happiness.
“It’s a good feeling, huh?” Lloyd said Cole nodded.
“I’ve never felt like this before.” He admitted and Lloyd nodded along with his words, prideful expression on his face. “I’m so in love.” Cole repeated and Lloyd let out a little laugh.
“Welcome to the club, brother.” Lloyd told him before shaking his hand.
“This is how you feel about Peach?” Cole asked.
“No.” Lloyd said and Cole’s face dropped. “I feel so much more. Wanna know why?” He asked and Cole nodded. “Because love grows stronger everyday. It’s always evolving and changing. I love all the versions of Peach I’ve seen and watched grow. That’s what makes love so special.” Cole nodded.
“Oh! Lloyd’s giving advice! This can’t be good. What you do? Fall off an edge?” Kai asked, just rounding the corner with Jay.
“Oh he fell alright.” Lloyd said and they both looked at him and Cole deadpanned.
“Don’t do this-“
“Fell in love.” Lloyd said Jay lit up whereas Kai deflated.
“Oh my god-!”
“With Y/n?” Kai asked, the atmosphere around them tensed.
“Of course. Who else?” Cole questioned and Kai shrugged.
“Don’t know just never saw you as the… love, settling down guy.” Kai said and Cole moved forward.
“How come?”
“Oh come on. You’ve ran from every single big feeling in your life. Guilt, sorrow, grief-“
“You are not comparing me running away from home after my mom died to me falling in love! So what if I’ve avoided that shit. You don’t know what I had to go through. You don’t know what goes through my head. I reached my full potential didn’t I? And if I remember rightly, it was before you did. So out of the two of us- who’s better at getting their shit together?” Cole said put was stopped by Lloyd from getting any closer to Kai.
“Enough, you two.” He said, stern. “I only know how to deal with when you argue with Jay. You two arguing is the at the bottom of my list of shit I want to deal with right now.” Lloyd said and pointed between the two.
“What? And I’m guessing Peach is at the top of the list.” Kai said and Jay whistled.
“Y/n was low but understandable, Peach is a new level, Kai. You don’t wanna go there.” He added and Kai looked at Jay quizzically.
“So I can’t talk bad about the two girls who attacked my girlfriend and manipulate my brothers-“ Lloyd turned around angrily.
“Okay, we’re going there.” Jay said to himself.
“Don’t talk about Peach. I don’t need to prove to you that she’s anything other than the best thing that’s ever happened to me.” Lloyd stood his ground.
“C’mon, Lloyd. She doesn’t even use her real name. What’s so bad about Is-“
“Kai, stop. He’s turning the floor to ice.” Cole said. The air around them became cold as frost was emitting from Lloyd’s body.
“Don’t act like they’re both good people! They attacked Skylor-!”
“We agreed that everyone was out of line that day. Skylor shouldn’t have spoke about my relationship, especially to Y/n, Y/n should’ve just walked out and Peach definitely shouldn’t of joined in. It’s sorted, dealt with so what is the problem, Kai?” Lloyd asked, calmly for his temper at the moment.
“My problem is that you put all your time into Peach, Cole is in love with my ex and Jay is dating my sister! And my girlfriend thinks you all hate her!” Kai listed.
“Woah! I though you were cool with it?” Jay said and Cole sighed.
“Kai you told me to ask her out.” Cole added.
“I live with you, train with you and am the leader of your team.” Lloyd finished and Kai sighed.
“You know what, forget it!” Kai said, going to storm off.
“No we’re not gonna forget it.” Nya said, appearing from behind the door. “I’m gonna get something through all of your heads.” She said and walked towards them.
“Peach isn’t the source of your anger. You just miss when Lloyd was young and he saw you as the centre of his world. Now your jealous of Peach because Lloyd looks at her the way he used to look at you. You’re not angry at Jay you just wanna sound more dramatic. You don’t actually have a problem with Cole and Y/n being together, you’re upset at Y/n for never calling back even though you messaged her calling her a bitch. Oh another person who Peach is closer to than you! Kai… you feel like the other woman.” Nya said and everyone stared at him silently before tears entered his eyes.
“Don’t look at me.” He said, although not moving away or even turning as he sobbed into his hands.
Woah, I didn’t even realise dude. I’m sorry.” Jay said.
“Yeah… you gotta talk to us bro. How are we supposed to stay strong as a team if we aren’t communicating?” Cole said and Lloyd nodded.
“I just feel like we don’t hang out as friends anymore! When was the last time all of went out together? Full group with everyone!” Kai said and all the ninja started rubbing his back.
“How about this? We arrange to hangout all of together, see how it goes, and then we go from there?” Lloyd proposed and everyone nodded and looked at Kai.
“Can you convince Y/n and Peach to come?” He asked and everyone looked at Lloyd.
“If anyone can persuade the Pookies, it’s me.” Lloyd nodded.
“The Pookies?” Nya questioned and Lloyd flushed.
“I really gotta think before I say that word to anyone else.” He said and turned around, walking to the door before turning around. “Where’s Zane?”
0:57————|——— -2:10
There was a knock on the door and Peach opened it to see a tall figure with snow-white hair and the lightest blue eyes your ever seen.
“Does anyone know your here?” She asked and he shook his head.
“No. Just like you requested.”
“Good. Greenie would kill me.” She said before closing the door behind him. “So what’ve you found?” Peach said and he opened his laptop to face it to her.
“Your theory of the third eye is correct. However, I’m sorry to tell you that the glitching is all you. Something is threatening your presence in the in between realms and is breaking down your protective barrier.” Zane informed and she sighed.
“If my theory is correct it means they want to make contact with Y/n. If she is the third eye.” Peach told him and he nodded, pulling out some papers. Evil eyes and other symbols which seemed similar were displayed.
“I recommend talking to Mistaké. She knows what we do not.” Zane said and Peach sighed.
“I know but she talks in riddles that I don’t have the brain speed to decipher.”
0:57————|——— -2:10
“…”
“Your silence nerves me.” Lloyd said, staring at the two girls in front of him.
“…”
“Seriously.” He added.
“It’s not like last time?” Peach asked and he shook his head.
“No it’s just a hangout at the Park.”
“Oh my god are we back in high school?” I asked and Peach hummed.
“I’ll go if you want me to but no promises about her.” Peach said and I nodded.
“It’s a good chance to meet the whole of Cole’s family and friends.” Lloyd said and I rolled my eyes.
“Don’t make me do this alone.” Peach said and I sighed.
Talking to ghosts was less scarier than having to meet the family.

the best wingman is… cake?
part 1 | part 2 | part 3 (coming soon)
”You kissed him?!"
"Mari!"
"No no no." Mari screamed, the grin on her face was the biggest one Y/n had ever seen, "You met him that night and kissed him!" she squealed, jumping up and down while holding onto Y/n's arm.
"I may have skipped over a very crucial piece of information..."
"Y/n."
"He's a ninja.."
Mari's face went blank, void of emotion then the grin started growing again, "You kissed a ninja? Which one? Are they nice? Was he nice to you? Did he try to do anything to you?" Y/n defensively held their hands up, "It was the earth ninja, yes the ninja are nice, he was nice to me and no he didn't try anything." Mari smirked, "Was he a good kisser though?" A light slap from Y/n lands on Mari's arm, causing her to giggle again, "It was nothing big! Just a short kiss, I'm sure it didn't mean anything!"
They couldn't help but think that. It has been a few days since the celebration and they haven't seen Cole or the ninja at all, they know that they could be on a mission right now but part of Y/n feels as if he's just forgotten about them.
"Y/n, I'm willing to bet all your jam filled donuts that the kiss wasn't nothing to him," Mari threw her hand over her friend's shoulders, "It sounds like you guys got on very well, he's probably just been caught up with his work."
A small 'ding' ran through the shop, alerting the attention of the two friends.
"Now c'mon, let's go help this customer."
"Thank you Mari."
They turned the corner and were greeted by an older looking man, "Oh hello, I was wondering if i could put in an order for a cake if that's okay?" The two nodded and Y/n noted down everything the man wanted and was trying to achieve, "Is it possible to get it delivered if that's okay? I won't have anyone to pick it up for me." Y/n smiled, "Of course, i can drop that off to your house for you, Can I just get your name please?" "It's Lou."
Lou left the bakery after paying a small deposit, leaving Y/n with the notes of the cake, "So what did that guy want?" Mari called, "He put in an order for a cake, a 'welcome home' cake."
"Any specific details?"
"Medium sized cake, chocolate and vanilla flavour. He wants it to be mountain themed, with rocks and all that stuff. Must be a mountain climber or something."
"Due when?"
"Sunday. We have a couple of days, I reckon I can get this done in two days. One day for baking, the next for decorating."
Mari nodded, "If you need any help, let me know." she said, picking up the piping bag and continuing to pipe the frosting border on a cake. "I'll get started tomorrow. All going to plan, I should finish Saturday then I can deliver it Sunday afternoon." Y/n said, pulling an empty tray from the front storage case, "You can head home whenever you want tonight, I'll close up." "Are you sure? I thought it was my turn to close up." They shrugged, "You can just owe me one, I've just got some work I wanna go over before I head home so I'll sit and do it here." Mari nodded, placing the piping bag down, "I'll pop this cake in the fridge, clean up then go."'
-
The Friday and Saturday flew by fast, Y/n was juggling baking and dealing with customers. Mari had to call in sick both days due to having to take care of her younger sibling which left Y/n to run the shop by themself, which thankfully, not many people came in, allowing them to focus on the cake more.
Sunday is the usual day the bakery is closed. Y/n had finished up the cake the night before and placed it in the fridge, they woke up around 10am and rolled out of bed, opening their phone to review the delivery instructions for the cake, "Deliver around 4pm.. Simple enough, and It's nearby!" They cheered. They opened Mari's messages and started typing.
'how is your sister feeling today?'
'still like shit :p'
'want me to come over and drop anything off?'
'unless its the cure for her flu, it's best you stay away. its pretty nasty :')'
'roger that o7'
'just let me know if y'all need anything'
'eye eye captain y/n! :D'
Y/n laughed, setting their phone aside and sighing, they looked around her room and frowned, "Well, might as well clean my room. I've got a few hours to kill."
By the time 3pm rolled around, Y/n had cleaned their room as well as the kitchen and lounge room. They dressed in their work clothes and grabbed their shop keys, locking up their apartment and driving to the shop.
They had to quickly touch up the cake after pulling it out of the fridge, adjusting some of the rocks that had fallen off or moved. They managed to leave the shop at 3:50pm, packing the cake safely into the car and driving off to Lou's house.
When arriving, Y/n's phone had dinged, signalling a message from Mari.
'there's spare clothes in the boot of your car ;)'
'thank me later, ily <3'
'??'
'very confused'
'why do i need spare clothes?? ://'
'shshshhsh stop messaging me on the job ;)'
They rolled their eyes and slipped their phone into their pocket as they got out and unloaded the cake, walking to the front door and knocking. Soon Lou opened the door, "Ah, right on time," He looked at their name tag, "Y/n, nice to see you. Please, come in!" He moved out of the doorway, allowing them to walk in and shut the door behind them, "If you'd just follow me, I'll take you to the kitchen where you can place the cake and I can give you the money." They followed him through the long hallway of the house, looking at every picture on the wall that they passed. There were other voices coming from a room further down the hallway but they couldn't make out what they were saying.
"Just in here please, dear." They placed the cake on the kitchen counter, marvelling at the nice, expensive looking kitchen. "You have a lovely house sir." "Lou looked surprised but then quickly laughed, "No need to call me sir, that's way too formal for me. Just call me Lou." He stretched his hand out, which Y/n took, shaking his hand. "Please just wait here while I go find my wallet." Lou hurried out of the kitchen and down the hallway, Y/n could hear him talking to the other voices before he returned, wallet in hand.
"Dad, are you ready for cake?"
Y/n tensed up, recognising the voice from the party the other night.
"Just a minute Cole, let me finish paying the nice worker for it." Lou handed Y/n the money and thanked them again. As they turned around, they tried walking to the door with their back turned to what they could guess was Cole and the rest of the ninja.
"Oh Y/n, wait! I forgot your tip!" Y/n mentally cursed, turning around with a nervous smile, now facing both Lou and the ninja, "It's fine-" "I'll pay for the tip dad." Cole said, standing up from his chair and nudging Y/n outside, closing the front door behind him.
The two were now outside, standing on the driveway of the house. "Small world huh, I should've expected you might've been the one delivering the cake after my dad said he got one." Cole laughed, "Yeah, I didn't realise he was your dad." They smiled, fidgeting with the edge of their apron. "Hey, are you okay?" Y/n nodded, "Yeah, just didn't expect to see you here. I feel a little embarrassed honestly." They laughed. He sat down on the top of the driveway, patting the ground next to him, inviting them to sit. Y/n sat next to him, hugging their knees to their chest.
"Why are you embarrassed?"
"I look like a mess and I delivered a cake while looking like a mess to the ninja."
Cole laughed, "You're kidding me right?" Y/n shook their head no. "You look fine, sure you might have a little bit of frosting on your apron but you're a baker, you make cakes, it's to be expected." He threw his arm around their shoulders, pulling them closer and causing them to lean against his shoulder, "Stay tonight, please?" They smiled, "Sure, okay."
The two sat there, looking up at the stars before Y/n jumped up, "No fucking way. I just realised what Mari's message meant." They pulled her phone out of their pocket and read the messages again, "She must've seen the name on the order and realised it was your dad or something because she told me that there was extra clothes in the back of my car." Y/n walked over to their car and lifted the boot open, there in a shopping bag was a pair of Y/n's jeans on the top. Cole walked over to them and helped them shut the boot, "C'mon, you can get changed inside." He smiled.
The pair walked inside, Cole leading them down the hallway towards a dimly lit room, he walked inside and flicked on the light switch, revealing walls that were covered in posters, drawings and multiple photos. The bed was neatly made but Y/n could tell it had been sat on in the meantime, there was also a string of fairy lights hanging above the bed. in the corner of the room was a large desk, multiple pieces of papers and drawings were scattered across the top of it.
"This is my room, you can get changed in here if you'd like."
Y/n walked in, looking all around at the decorated room, "I can just tell this is your room." They laughed, "What's that supposed to mean?" Cole smiled, crossing his arms over his chest, "It just fits you, I don't know how to describe it, but it just gives off a 'Cole' vibe." Y/n placed their bag on the bed, "I'll take that as a compliment." He laughed, walking towards the door and shutting it behind him, leaving Y/n to rummage through their bag to see what Mari had left them with.
"Hey Cole?"
"Yeah?"
"Um.. Do you have a spare shirt or jumper I could borrow please?"
"Are you dressed? Can I come in?"
He carefully opened the door, spotting Y/n sitting on the bed, "Sorry.. Mari didn't pack a shirt and I don't really want to wear my frosting covered shirt." They laughed. Cole waved his hand at them, walking over to his wardrobe, "Don't stress it's fine." He pulled a plain black jumper from the drawer and passed it to them, "I normally wear that to bed but it's clean. Also the others have never seen me wear it so they shouldn't suspect anything if you're worried about them noticing." He smiled, walking back out of the room and closing the door behind him.
When Y/n put the jumper on, all they could smell was Cole and whatever deodorant he used. If you couldn't already tell he was the elemental master of earth, you'd be able to tell if you ever went near him, he smelt like the earth and rain.
They finished getting dressed and opened the bedroom door, jumping slightly when they saw Cole leaning against the wall, he silently led them to the kitchen where everyone was seated at the table.
Y/n sat across from Cole and next to Nya nervously smiling at everyone while they sat down, "Nice of you guys to finally join us, we've been waiting to get into this cake." Kai smirked, nudging Cole with his elbow causing the water elemental, who was sitting directly opposite her brother, to kick his shin under the table. "That was uncalled for." Cole laughed, high-fiving Nya, "It was very called for."
"So Cole, when were you going to tell me about your partner?" Lou asked, taking them both by surprise and causing Y/n to choke on the water they were drinking.
"We're just friends Dad!" He stated, glancing at Nya who was patting Y/n's back as they recovered.
"Friends don't wear each other's jumpers, son." He smirked, neatly placing his hands on the table.
"How do you know that's mine?"
"Cole, I'm your father, I know everything. Also you used to wear it around home all the time."
Cole dropped his head on the table while Y/n covered their face with their hands, the others laughing in the background. "Alright, alright." Lloyd started, "Let's leave the lovebirds alone and have some cake." He grabbed a knife and handed it to Cole who took it and slid the cake towards him, he glanced at Y/n who was trying to look everywhere but at him and sighed, placing the first cut in the cake.
He cut the rest of the cake and served slices to everyone, giving Y/n their slice last. They looked over at him and smiled, quietly thanking him.
The rest of the night was quiet. mainly consisting of the ninja sharing stories to Lou about their adventures and things they've seen and Lou sharing stories about his life before Cole was born.
One by one, the ninja started walking back to the monastery, bidding their goodbyes to Cole's father. Lou eventually headed to bed, apologising to both Cole and Y/n for embarrassing them in front of the other ninja before heading into his room. Leaving Cole and Y/n in the living room together, sitting on the separate couches.
"Sorry about my dad," Cole started, "He doesn't miss a chance to embarrass me." he laughed, glancing at Y/n who smiled in response, "Don't stress." They glanced at the clock, 'Hm, almost 11pm.' They sat up and tied the laces to their shoe, "I think I should get going, it's pretty late." They glanced up at Cole through their hair and watched as he looked up at the clock himself, grimacing at the time. "Sorry, I didn't realise how late it was. Did you want to stay here for the night?" Y/n stood up, "No it's fine, I don't live too far so It's not too long of a drive, but thank you."
"Can I at least walk you out to your car?"
"Of course, please protect me Mr Ninja in case any snakes try to nab me." They both laughed.
Cole guided them to the front door, pulling it open for them then walking out himself. The street was quiet, the only source of light coming from the lounge room window and the dim street lamps. Y/n unlocked their car and put their bag in the backseat, shutting the door and then leaning against the car.
"This gives me deja-vu." They laughed, causing Cole to tilt his head slightly, "What do you mean?"
"Well last time, I walked you out to your car, remember?"
"Oh yeah." He smiled.
"Did you want your jumper back? I can quickly get changed in my car."
"No no it's fine. I'll get it when I come into the bakery one day." He smiled, "Besides, It suits you."
Y/n blushed slightly, thankfully it wasn't too noticeable due to the lighting, "Guess I'll just have to take it with me to work everyday in case you come in."
Cole laughed, "I'll come in soon I promise."
They stood there in silence, pretending to look up at the stars while sneaking glances at each other.
"You should really head home, it's getting late." He said, head still facing the sky.
"And what if I don't want to leave yet?" Y/n grinned, crossing their arms over their chest.
"You're more than welcome to stay but I think we both know you'd rather be in your bed than sleeping on the couch."
Y/n rolled their eyes, "Yeah, you got me there." They pulled their car keys out of their pocket and turned back to Cole, leaning up and placing a small kiss on his cheek, "See you soon then." They smiled before unlocking their car and getting in, soon driving off, leaving Cole standing there holding his cheek while smiling.

Hey Mom, Dead Mom
Bonus chapter: You won’t believe the mess that we’ve become
bonus chapter has arrived! this was originally a scene from the second chapter, but it ended up with so much Cole and Jay interaction that it would have caused the whole fic to be unable to be read as a standalone. I still really like it though, and it explains a few things in ‘Cause daddy doesn’t love me, mommy is a god, so I’m posting it as a bonus chapter. this is cross posted to ao3 as well
~
Cole dialled the number slowly, as if it would delay the inevitable. He watched it ring three times before Jay picked up. “Hello?” He said.
“Hi, Jay,” Cole said softly. “It’s Cole.”
“Cole!” Jay exclaimed. How did he manage to sound so happy when Cole had been ignoring him for months? Cole had been expecting anger and yelling, not Jay sounding like this call was his birthday present. “Whatcha need? Do we have to get kicked out of another cinema?”
“I need to talk to you about stuff,” Cole decided to say. Best to get straight to the point rather than dance around it. Pun not intended.
“Talk about what?” The concern was evident in Jay’s tone.
Cole took a breath and got it over with. “I’m being sent to boarding school.”
“WHAT?”
“Yeah,” Cole said. “I’m leaving on Sunday.”
“B— but why?” Jay sounded so hurt. Cole wished he could stop Jay from being hurt.
“I don’t have a choice, Jay,” Cole said over the phone. “I’m sorry.”
Jay’s voice was very small. “Can we at least meet up? Before you leave?” The twelve-year-old asked.
“Yeah, sure,” Cole said. He blinked the tears out of his eyes. “Tomorrow? It’s the only day I’m free…” Dad wanted Cole to be packed by Saturday, since he was leaving on Sunday, and tomorrow was the only day he could sneak out.
“Okay,” Jay sounded choked up, like there was something stuck in his throat. Cole imagined that he was crying over the phone.
“See you,” Cole said. Then he hung up before Dad could see he wasn’t packing.
~
The next day came much too slowly. Cole spent most of the night practicing what he was going to say to Jay, how he would apologise for not being around for so long. Cole really wasn’t good at this whole ‘being a good friend’ thing.
When tomorrow finally came around, Cole jumped out of bed and got dressed as quietly as possible. Most of his clothes were already in the suitcases, but a hoodie and pair of jeans were still out. Cole put them on and got out of the house quickly. Dad was at work, because he couldn’t be bothered to help with anything, but better safe than sorry.
The cafe they’d chosen to meet at was decently busy when he arrived. People streamed in and out, clutching cups of coffee and talking on the phone. One man was so distracted that he almost lost his wallet twice. Cole picked it up for him and watched him go out the door cursing. Kind of rude, but Cole didn’t care. He was too busy waiting for Jay.
“Hey,” a voice said, and Cole turned to see Jay sliding into a seat. “Haven’t seen you in a while, Rocks-for-Brains,” the familiar nickname made Cole smile.
“Same.”
Jay clasped his hands together. His expression was grim. “So, you’re really leaving? No offence, but your call yesterday didn’t explain a lot.”
“Yeah, I am. My dad’s forcing me to go,” Cole’s voice was thick.
“So we’re never gonna see each other again?”
“I don’t know,” Cole shrugged, and it was the truth. Dad wanted him to stay at MOSPA even during breaks, so that he could ‘build character.’
Jay sniffled and wiped a tear away. “If this is the last time we see each other, it’s gotta be the best one-and-a-half hours possible.”
“I’m sorry for not being around and ignoring you,” Cole said suddenly. He’d been wanting to say that ever since Mom died.
“You were grieving for your mom, dummy,” Jay narrowed his eyes. “You still are. I mean, yeah, you were a bit of a jerk, but it’s not like I was mad. And even if I was, it’s all forgiven.”
“You’re supposed to be mad and screaming at me.”
“Do you want me to? I’ve been doing drama lately, so my vocal cords are really good. We can do the whole ‘old married couple screaming at each other’ thing.”
That made Cole laugh a little. Jay was exactly the same as he’d remembered, always cracking jokes and trying to make people smile. “No thanks, I prefer not getting kicked out of places.”
“You sure? We can even flip a table and throw coffee,” Jay sing-songed.
“That’s a safety hazard. Coffee is really hot.”
Jay rolled his eyes and turned to the counter. “You want anything? I’m buying.”
“No, I’m buying, since I’m the one who was a jerk,” Cole stood up.
“Nuh uh, oldest pays.”
“It’s only six months,” Cole glared. They were already back to their old dynamic, which was nice. He’d missed hanging out with Jay.
“Six months is enough to be half the year.”
“Yeah, so you’re old?”
Jay gasped in mock horror. “I am not old!“
“M’kay, grandpa.”
Jay stuck his tongue out at him. “We’ll split it fifty-fifty,” he said.
“Fine.”
~
A hot chocolate and muffin later, it was past two in the afternoon. Cole shot up when he saw the time — he had to be back home soon!
“I’m sorry, Jay, but I have to go,” he packed up his stuff and closed the backpack.
Jay looked at him understandingly. “Your dad’s gonna be back and you have to get home.”
“Yep,” Cole said. He pulled a little box out of his pocket and handed it to Jay. Hopefully the stuff inside wasn’t messed up from being jostled around. “Here, this is for you. A goodbye present.” He pressed the box into Jay’s hand.
Jay looked at it curiously. “What is it?” He asked.
“I already told you,” Cole said. “It’s a goodbye present.”
“But what’s in it?”
“You’ll have to figure it out yourself,” Cole smirked. He gave Jay a hug and ran out the door. He hoped that Jay liked the bracelet.
