my sister and i finally watched eternals (obviously lol) and I think that concludes us binging some of barry keoghan's filmography (for now) ✨️

final(?) ratings + ranking:

Saltburn 10/10 (perfect film no notes /hj. I love this fucking movie so much and its quickly become a comfort film for me ♡ gorgeous cinematography, perfectly cast and impeccable performances by the entire cast! they nailed the mid 2000s feel. amazing soundtrack and ost. the queer subtext/tone, the vampire imagery, the metaphors and exploration of deep carnal desire, oliver domming his way to the top? all just *mwah* perfection. im not very good with words lol but basically this movie slaps and its required viewing imo)

The Banshees of Inisherin 9/10 (the trailer didn't do this film justice and I enjoyed it so much more than I expected. incredible film!! the characters were so well done and every actor in this movie did an amazing job (especially colin farrell, kerry condon, brendan gleeson, and barry ofc). I highly highly recommend this one if you haven't seen it ♡ the cinematography is beautifully done as well and goshh the location is breathtaking. one of my new favorite films ♡)

Mammal (2016) 8/10 (this film surprised me! when I read the synopsis I really didn't think I'd come out enjoying this movie as much as I did. it does a really good job with its characters and the complicated relationships between them. great performances and a very interesting and at times uncomfortable exploration of loss and grief. recommend this one! but definitely look into CWs before viewing)

Light Thereafter 8/10 (my favorite of barry's performances after oliver/saltburn. it didn't even feel like I was watching barry play a character, pavel felt like a real person and barry was just!! so incredible in this film and i loved getting to know pavel sm (his passion for art, his stims, the way he enjoys touch and textures :') ) and i was sad when it ended.)

The Killing of A Sacred Deer 7.5/10 (if you enjoyed saltburn, I definitely recommend this one! weird ass film (affectionate) and martin was a strangely endearing character to me lol i dont want to say too too much, you should watch it for yourself! 🍝)

Calm With Horses 7/10 (blonde barry keoghan was a major serve lol no but good film!! sad, but definitely worth watching. not too much to say about this one, but I enjoyed the characters (dymphna the most tho))

Eternals 6/10 (it was pretty enjoyable! the characters definitely carried this film over the plot itself (except ikaris.. I really didn't care for him at all lol). the cgi was a bit distracting and I wish there was a little more show dont tell and that certain scenes/plot points were done better/explored further BUT still entertaining and doesn't deserve the hate it gets imo!)

American Animals 6/10 (slightly disappointing but still worth a watch! evan peters carried imo)

Stalker (2012) 5.5/10 (so weird but also iconic?? worth watching at least once lmao)

Dunkirk 7/10 (objectively great film, but I just don't care for war movies im sorry 😩 soundtrack was actually so incredible tho)

Stay 4.5/10 (it was fine, it just wasn't very interesting)

The Music of The Musketeers

Part Four: The Original Television Soundtrack

It's close to a decade since this treasure of a show premiered and they still have not released an official soundtrack for Series One. [Not holding my breath... but perhaps as a 10th Anniversary event?! Can someone make this happen?]

I guess, for now, we'll just have to be content with Paul Englishby's two-CD album although The Musketeers - Series 2 & 3 (Original Television Soundtrack) does not include the title/opening theme music by Murray Gold. But, hey, there's always YouTube!

As with any good soundtrack, there's a theme for each couple (Constance and D'artagnan, Aramis and the Queen, Porthos Meets Elodie, Athos Remembers Milady, Sylvie and Athos), as well as the series' antagonists (Rochefort and The Musketeers, Milady and The Jewels, Feron, Bonnaire, Grimaud’s Wrath, King Loius).

One of my many favourites from the album is Series Three Finale, from 3x10 episode We are the Garrison. I think it's a poignant, perfect score to end the series. 💕

Playlists I know that not everyone enjoys movie or TV scores – my mom once told me she thought I was listening to funeral songs when it was the OST from The Lord of the Rings... 😅

Final Thoughts While I love opening and closing themes, I rarely go for the entire score. It was different with The Musketeers. The last TV soundtrack that had the same hold on me was Once Upon a Time: The Musical Episode. I could listen to Colin O'Donoghue and Josh Dallas all day... but that's an entirely different post altogether. 🤭

Pride & Prejudice (2005) - 'Last Man in The World'

'키이라 나이틀리' 왜 이렇게 예뻐? 몰랐는데 '왓챠'에 '오만과 편견(Pride & Prejudice)'이 올라와 있길래 오랜만에 중간중간 봤다. 워낙 원작의 팬이기도 해서 진작에 읽어봤고. 영화가 원작에서 생략시킨 감정선이 꽤 있다고 생각했는데 지금 보니 아주 충실했던 작품이네. 영상미랑 OST 무엇. 무엇보다 원작엔 없던 저 비 오는 날 '다아시'의 고백 장면은!

근데 소설��서도, 영화에서도. 꼭 차일 만한 멘트만 골라 하는 미스터 다아시... 가만히 있어주세요... 입 닫아주세요...

많이들 영국 드라마에 나오는 '콜린 퍼스(Colin Firth)'를 못 따라간다고 하지만 나한테 최고의 '다아시-엘리자베스' 커플은 이 영화. 감독판이었나? 극장판에는 없다던 엔딩도 너무 좋았는데 '왓챠'에는 없어서 까비.

Last show: I don't watch any shows (except for Downton Abbey and Kaamelott and these are far too old to be an appropriate answer to t tag game) but the last movie I watched was Girl With A Pearl Earring and I just love it so much. Setting, light, tension between the characters, long-haired Colin Firth... Sign me up.

Last song: "The Game of Cards" by Maddy Prior and June Tabor, from Emma. (2020) OST. I love old-fashioned, popular songs and these days I'm always singing this one while washing the dishes.

Currently watching: So here I write the only show I actually watch and it is Miraculous, of course. I still have a couple episodes to watch before I actually catch up with the show.

Currently reading: Le Temps retrouvé by Marcel Proust (the last book from La Recherche du temps perdu. I don't want to think about what will happen when I finish this series of book I started almost 10 years ago); La Confession d'un enfant du siècle by Alfred de Musset; Une vie au Louvre by Magdeleine Hours; Manuel du bon ton et de la politesse française by Louis Verardi (a guide to good manners written in the 1860).

Current obession: The French Second Empire (hence my reading Verardi). I love this era and I started a little list of diaries and primary sources from the period that I want to read.

Last Song : I have been listening to Dune OST a lot, so I have been hanszimmered (is this a verb? it should be!)

Last Film :   I use some database to keep track of all I watch and (shock not really) I realised I mostly watch TV series, and hardly any films at all. BUT I did watch Running Naked with Matthew McNulty because Matthew McNulty, and it was probably the only one this year. Ah oh no Dune as well of course.

Currently Watching :  I have too many things on the go, and I also suffer from the curse of always having to finish what I started, so sadly continuing Fear the Walking Dead, rewatching Terror as always, Our Blues (only because it has Lee Byung-hun in it, I hope he will pick some better projects in future, please man please my grey cells are dying watching this I can hear them scream as they do so). But I am also looking where I can watch North Water finally, it's been calling me for a while now. And after seeing Colin Farell as Pinguin in Batman (oh another film I have seen) I think I am ready for this.

Current Obsession :  Filling imaginary shopping baskets with second hand earrings I will not actually be buying ever but they are pretty.

Trying to find out how long the sense of smell disappears for after covid.

Dreaming what I could do if I won a lottery. (I think it's called visualising success? Maybe I got the technique wrong). I am not really obsessed with it ^^ But if I do win I am so buying that abandoned theatre in Manchester.
