This is your gentle reminder that it’s okay for you to hold space for your grief and you don’t have to carry that grief in isolation from others.

life is so hard for so many people right now. sometimes we're struggling in the way that we are because either we actually have to be or FEEL like we need to be alone in struggle.
everyone needs help sometimes, it's normal! and most struggles are not individual problems but a result of larger systems of harm at work. capitalism and perfectionism and individualism and all that bullshit got so many people feeling like they have to do it all themselves (and a lot of people do, everyone's level of resources and community support and needs are different) but i feel like as a young person seeing the trajectory of the collective future right now we have to start seeing where we can do things together.
we have to learn to be with other people. we have to learn that helping others is not about keeping score or who is asking for more or less help. it's about living in a web of interconnectedness that cannot be absent. And helping others helps you! and learning to receive help is important too! we need each other y'all. especially in late stage capitalism.
a good place to start in terms of collective care can be to think of like: where do I have tiny abundances (made too much lasagna), where do I need support (would appreciate a friend coming to the doctor with me) and where can we help each other (we both have messy bedside depression piles of stuff, let's set a 10 minute timer and deal with them separately together). and to have conversations with an open minded friend about this! real talk about our situation and resources is important too.
we need collective care and mutual aid. because we all need connection and community and support. these are human needs. it is resistance against the dehumanization of capitalism and related systems of harm to recognize we can each do our little piece and to act as part of a community, as a part of a collective whole. to resist the urge to be siloed alone in your little life.
we are more powerful together. let's practice thinking and acting collectively. collectivism is not just a good value to have - taking care of each other is perhaps the most vital and necessary skill in facing the realities of the times that we live in and preparing for the future.

From the June 1, 2023 opinion piece:
The state is criminalizing collective care itself. And it is doing so at a time when forms of collective support are becoming increasingly essential, whether it is efforts to support people seeking abortions, to provide health care to trans youth across state lines, to leave out water for people crossing through the desert, or to house, clothe, and feed migrants in crisis. As each of these forms of collective care face repression and accompanying criminalization, we should be frightened by the ways in which the state so quickly transforms a group of people taking care of someone else into a criminal act.
...
By criminalizing the support structures of social movements, government officials are acknowledging how threatening it is when people come together to live out understandings of public safety and collective freedom that clash with the government’s stated priorities.... But it also points toward the power of collective care and solidarity, a power that we all can and should seek to play a part in, wherever we live.

We need universal healthcare, universal mental healthcare, universal pharmacare. We need food programs for lower class people. We need universal housing and universal daycare. We need playgrounds and parks and arts programs and libraries and recreation centres for the people. We need free colleges, we need better funded public education. We need more access to support groups for people. We need community centres and community-building events. We need more communal kitchens and restaurants where everyone can make and eat food for free, more community gardens and farms. We need more urban natural areas that are free for people to be in. We need more supports and help for people who are being abused. We need better anti-bullying education and policies in schools. We need programs that give parents the basic things they need to raise children, like diapers, baby food, and clothes for kids. We need to improve people’s mental health and lives so that they can have good lives and they can develop themselves.

My favorite picture of my care bears collection. At the time i had about 370 care bears plushies. This pic is almost 4 years old now though and i REALLY want to do a full collection plushie photoshoot again sometime soon. I plan for my next post to be a bunch of pictures of the setup process for this pic, plus some goofy angles. :)

Something about Grian lasting months before he tried to summon Mumbo and Mumbo lasting less than a week without Grian before he tried the same. Something about Mumbo repeatedly trying to get Scar to help him do so.

The List
Danny knew he couldn't keep the existence of the ghosts a secret forever. The GIW was a clear example of that, they had managed to disband the organization but there were always traces left behind that made him anxious.
Times had changed, and while Amity was hiding behind his "small town" reputation, the world was changing. New protectors, heroes, as well as new threats were appearing. And as much as the halfa wanted to, he couldn't transport his entire town to the Realms on every occasion of danger, that would definitely be suspicious.
So he made a list. He gathered information on the heroes that had come forward and categorized them according to how easy they were to approach, or how open they would be to the existence of ghosts.
Unfortunately his "safest" choice was John Constantine, someone he wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole, so he decided to settle for the second one: The Flash.
Danny had weighed the pros and cons, but as he walked through Central City he wondered if it had been a mistake. Although it was probably too late to regret it, the speedster had already noticed him.

change your life ✨️
feel free to join me in this. I'm going to try to post every day about how I did <3
- get at least 7 consecutive hours of sleep. I've found if I go to sleep and then wake up back for a couple hours and then finish the 8 hours I feel I incredibly unrested. I keep myself accountable by using pokemon sleep which has a great alarm, so I'm looking forward to trying this instead
- read or listen to an audiobook for 30 minutes. literacy is a muscle, and using it is important, but sometimes I can't just sit down and read a book, and audiobooks are great for when I'm cleaning or cooking or folding laundry
- get sun daily. humans are a lot more like plants than you would think and so it is important to get some sun, even when it's a wintery sun that's cold or when it's a blazing furnace. Since I have some mental health issues and am unable to go outside im going to at least open my curtains, and if possible, crack a window to get some fresh air
- start a hobby you can enjoy. this one can be difficult because a lot of things require some sort of financial investment. for me, my hobbies for these six months is going to be writing and annotating books. but being creative is great for the human mind.
- learn to be comfortable alone. honestly this one will be difficult. personally, I live in a studio. privacy is nothing i experience, butthe little moments where you find yourself escaping with TV playing or music pause it and sit with yourself, how else can you learn to love someone if you avoid them 🥰
- meditate daily. this will be something I struggle with so much, but I'm going to try in the mornings since that's my peak time <3 and that's when I plan on doing a yoga flow during the sunrise
- eat healthy nutritious food. I hate cooking and I hate eating. having autism can make these really difficult for me to do, but I'm really really trying. I started the week before last to work on figuring out what snack foods I can prep, and now i just need to work on planning out some meals.
- positive affirmations everyday. I really struggle to have positive self talk because it feels so awkward and uncomfortable because I've been pessimistic for so long, but I want to change that ^^
- reduce screen time. this is going to be specifically targetting mindless scrolling for me. I have a tiktok account that I use for motivation, same with my tumblr account, and I also read on my phone and use my sleep app that I need to keep open at night.
- practice gratitude. my goal is to at night reflect on the day to try and find the good. I already reflect on my days and pick a mood, but I want to create lists of things i am grateful for, especially while I'm in between jobs.

fatima aamer bilal, excerpt from moony moonless sky’s ‘i can’t be loved, swallowed or digested. must i make myself smaller?’
[text id: this thought was unceasing: somewhere must be home. / the spine-folding need to belong was woven into my skin. no amount of clawing could ever get it out. / it scared me that even at my very best, i wouldn’t be able to stop myself from being fond of the tearing. isn't mauling touch? the warmth of a hand close to you, right before is tears you apart, is something.]
