The Fab Five was the 1991 University of Michigan men's basketball team recruiting class that many consider one of the greatest recruiting classes of all time. The class consisted of Detroit natives Chris Webber (#4) and Jalen Rose (#5), Chicago native Juwan Howard (#25), and two recruits from Texas: Plano's Jimmy King (#24) and Austin's Ray Jackson (#21). The Fab Five were the first team in NCAA history to compete in the championship game with all-freshman starters.

Continuing in this article, college athletes don't have health insurance ?!?!
"NCAA athletes are not provided primary medical coverage by the NCAA, and athletes are in fact mandated to have their own medical coverage that is great enough to cover the deductible for the NCAA’s Catastrophic Injury Insurance Program. This could leave athletes or their families liable for thousands in medical expenses, even for injuries that occur during the course of a competition. Further, because the schools are not allowed to compensate the students directly, there is no pension or retirement planning. The closest analog is that some schools used to provide loss of value protection for athletes who had legitimate prospects of playing professionally to protect against an injury, and now some of the higher-resourced schools provide critical injury insurance for some of their athletes."

Kobe Bryant's Enduring Influence on Generosity
Four years ago, the world mourned the loss of Kobe Bryant, a basketball legend, whose tragic passing occurred while he was accompanying young athletes to their basketball game.
