Biology rizz: I'm jealous of your heart because it's pounding inside of you and I am not.
Volcanologist rizz: damn girl are you volcanic ash and spatter? Because you’re intoxicating
Historical rizz: they’ll call me patron of the arts the way I’m paying for furry porn
Econ rizz: baby, I‘ve got the supplies, the question is, do you have the demand.
Environmental science rizz: I must be the climate crisis the way your ignoring me
Physics rizz: looks like you forgot to account for my gravitational pull
Philosophy rizz: I stopped checking for monsters under the bed when I realized society was the monster
Chemistry rizz: Call me Marie curie bc a hug without u would be life ending

leaving a three hour lab be like:
what time is it? why is it dark outside? where did the sun go?
I'm starving.
I'm never doing that again (literally has the same lab scheduled the following week).

Do you think in like, an urban fantasy setting, with a modern lab and chemistry knowledge you could brew super specific potions? Imagine getting a C on your lab final for Potions 238 because you didn’t balance your equation correctly and accidentally added 4 mols of salamander blood when you only needed 2. You lose points for incorrect titration, leading your potion of invisibility to last 10 minutes instead of 20. Would you treat each magical component as its own element/ compound or would you have to break it down into organic molecules? What does “enchanted” MEAN in terms of reactance!!! These are the real questions!!

I saw a TikTok recently that really changed my view on education and learning. I forget the exact quote but it said something along the lines of “learn in good faith, and the grades will come”
So often I find myself obsessing over getting an A and not taking time to enjoy the fact that I am studying what middle school/high school me dreamed of. My younger self would hear about the things I am accomplishing and would be so excited. So that raises the question, if I picked these classes, why should my desire for a 4.0 outweigh letting myself enjoy the learning process and just doing the best I can? Good grades come to those who like and resonate with the material being taught. Maybe instead of focusing on memorization for some topics, emphasizing and spending time on relating the content and deepening my understanding is better. I've found that my chem lecture is so fascinating and just having the opportunity to learn more about the complexity of the world around us is so cool. While reaction rates can be boring, when thinking about it, catalysts have huge biological impacts in our body's daily functioning. Life simply would not be able to do what it does without these reactions. I am learning about details that relate to the reactions that allow me to have the energy to move. Learning becomes more valuable when you don't focus on the destination( a grade) but think about it as a journey.

Hello all! I took a break from the Internet but I am back! Little update: I am now in year two of my degree, and I started organic chemistry! Very excited for this year's journey:) 🧪

don’t forget to be gentle with yourself🩵
it’s a hard day for studying after the session I pulled yesterday but I can make it work, sometimes it’s hard to get myself together and work even if I want to because I physically don’t feel like it, but starting my work is also my hardest part so I do one question or slide and then once I’m in the zone I’m fully in

Rewatching organic chemistry lectures to prepare for an exam, but instead of taking notes, I’m writing down the weird things my professor says. And so…
An incomplete list of the unhinged stuff my organic chemistry professor has said:
Rule one in organic chemistry: carbon is a working girl. It bonds with basically everything
This is an alcohol. Something quite popular amongst students, I believe
A thiol kinda looks like an alcohol. But alcohols are usually enjoyed, whereas thiols is what skunks use when you’re stupid and unfortunate enough to piss them off. Do with that what you will.
There will come an age when your doctor gets worried about your high cholesterol levels, which often makes people wonder why we even have cholesterol if too much of it is so unhealthy. Let’s say it like this: if suddenly all your cholesterol vanished, your doctor would be pleased but you wouldnt be. You’d be a puddle on the floor.
How to know whether an anion is stable? Rule number one, and I’m sorry to say this, but gentlemen, your girlfriends lied. Because size does matter.
No self respecting scientist uses the IUPAC- naming system. But you still need to know it for the exam. Sucks to be you
An addition reaction is the most romantic reaction in chemistry: two things become one. But romance never lasts, and so just like that, one thing can fall apart into two again
For the exam, the bar is nearly on the floor. Just don’t write anything that is impossible and you’re good. And yet every year there are students who dig beneath the bar and fail anyway
The Sanger reaction was named after chemist Frederick Sanger, who is the only chemist to ever receive 2 Nobel prizes in chemistry. Marie Curie was also a chemist who got 2 Nobel prizes, but one of those was for physics so that’s a bit more complicated. Of course, there’s also the chemist Linus Pauling, who got 2 Nobel prizes as well… but one of them was the Nobel prize of peace and those don’t count

Just finished a hellish week in my life studying for 2 quizzes and 1 exam. I think that one of the worst feelings in the world is studying until you drop, then finding out you got points off on a quiz because of a silly mistake.
Point is: I need to sleep more 😭
