Despite having more teammates, Neil still regularly plays full games bc he knows he can and likes to. Wymack let's him bc it's one of the only sure-fire ways to get that boy worn out enough to chill. His stamina is out of this world by the time he goes pro and his team doesn't know how to handle him bc pros have way bigger teams and there's no way a rookie is going to get that much play time (not to mention, you just don't do full games that's ridiculous)
But like
What are they supposed to DO with him
He runs circles around them at practice despite being there long before and after official times. He's been caught multiple times by himself late at night. And when he's not on the court, he's on the bench running his mouth.
His coach reaches out to the coach of another team, one he thinks might be able to give some advice. But Kevin's coach just says "oh god i was going to call and ask YOU wtf to do he's going to decimate my team"
They conference in a third coach who is not much help bc the only thing David Wymack says after laughing himself breathless is "good fucking luck" and he hangs up

we simply do not talk about how iconic kevin day is as a fandom. the man literally had his dominant hand shattered to bits and he was so dedicated to the ball life that he learned to play his sport with his other hand. and despite that, he was still one of the best in the game. what a man. what an icon.

Thinking about the terrible space facts: most of these are terrible due to no/micro-gravity (the bones, the toilet, the bread ban) and a lot of sci-fi avoids all that by handwaving artificial gravity. Fine, acceptable, especially for live-action filming… but the primary one that’s NOT zero-g related is the fact that the walls are damp and moldy. That’s due to the space station being a closed system: when you breathe out, there’s no atmosphere for your breath to evaporate to, so the vapor just condenses on the walls.
prompting the VERY important question
is ART creepy and wet

Classes start this week at Purcell Collegiate School (PCS), an international boarding school in B.C.'s southeast.
The first cohort of 12 students from across Canada, and countries like Japan and China, are living in a former residential school in the Aq'am community, within the Ktunaxa Nation.
The building, St. Eugene Mission, was a residential school from 1912 until 1970.
In 1992, the community began the process of turning the building into a resort, and today it's an award-winning hotel, golf course and casino that is owned by the Ktunaxa Nation and Shuswap Indian Band.
Now, a portion of it is also home to international students while they live and learn in the community.

Pretty, pretty man 🦊…something something about him going back to school after the war and something something about connections that grow in after-hours tutoring…

Oh, anon. I'm so sorry. This situation would also make me feel very self-conscious and I'm sorry you find yourself in such an uneasy place.
I'm honestly not sure what advice to give you, so I'd like to open it up to others to put in their 2 cents. However, I wonder if trying to make friends with the folks in your classes is the best way to build social connections on campus. Obviously, you should be friendly with your classmates, but is there a student group for atypical students (there was one at my last university)? It was a great way for folks who were older or with families or special living circumstances to make friends who would be a bit more empathetic to their lived experiences than their average classmates.
Alternatively, special interest groups of all kinds are a great way to make friends--even if there's a decade separating you, if you're both really into knitting or fantasy novels or disc golf or chess, having something in common is a good way to build that initial bond that friendships need as a foundation.
Does anyone else have any advice for anon?
