First off, congrats! You’re such a fantastic writer and I look forward to all your posts! Could you write something about when guys do that thing where they use their body to their advantage? Like oh its crowded in this club? I’m just going to back you up against this wall with my big body since there’s no room. Or oh! You want a drink at the bar? Better plaster myself against you so the bartender will notice us better! Can’t reach something up high? Oh I’ll just stand literally right behind you and grab it for you! Just always seems to be in your space and you can’t tell if he’s doing it on purpose (yes) or not but it’s driving you crazy that he won’t make a move until you finally get him alone and give him a taste of his own medicine. Use your favorite big guy!
A/N: Thank you so much!!! I had to use Miles for this one.. I feel like he would have no problem using his wide shoulders and overall big, boy body to keep you safe at a crowded bar…. While driving you batty.

Your intention when you and your friend, Miles, walked in was to head directly to the bar. But the huge, U shaped structure is completely stacked with people. Grass and bamboo are lit up by multicolored lights from low hanging Tiki figurines. It is Saturday night in the Fall, so you’re not sure why you’re surprised to see it so busy. Your steps falter as your eyes scan for an open space at the massive bar. Miles puts a hand on the small of your back when someone tries to sneak between the two of you.
“We are together.” Miles tells the dude. Your heart patters heavily in your chest at the way he says it. For a moment, you even let yourself pretend it’s real. But it’s not. You and Miles have been friends for far too long and his taste in women is nothing like you. Why be disappointed and ruin the friendship when you know it isn’t going to work?
“Gotta plaster you to my chest in here, damn.” Miles mutters down to you.
“We should just go. It’s too busy.” Your anxiety is already starting to get the best of you. Your fingers delicately rest on the hollow of your throat, heart rate increasing below your touch.
“No, you’ve been wanting to come here and now we are. We at least need to get a drink.” You gesture to the wall of people you’ve come to.
“How?”
“Follow me.” He weaves your hands together and begins to assertively press forward. You are shocked at how easily people move for him. Miles flirts and smiles and appeases his way forward. Nothing about him is aggressive, but the sea of people willingly shift for you both to go through. He has this way with people. It’s why you fell so easily for him. When he gets to the bar, he moves to the side for you to slip through. “See? Easy.”
“Okay well some of us aren’t loaded down with muscle and 6’2.”
The person next to Miles get up and leaves. He pounces on the seat and brings it over for you, gesturing for you to sit. You smile in thanks, perching yourself on it while he comes behind you. He is so close, you can feel the heat from his chest on your back. His pecs rub slightly against you as he reaches for the drink list. He skims it fast, then shakes his head.
“These are weird ass drinks.”
“That is kind of the point of the place. They all come in tiki styled cups and have like edible glitter in them or the whole drink is smoking.” He shakes his head.
“Can I get a Coors Light? Or are you going to be upset?” You roll your eyes.
“You’re such a hockey player.” He chuckles, showing his toothless grin. His big shoulders shrug.
“You love me anyway.” It’s so casual, but your brain grabs the memory, tucking it away for when you’re alone later.
Someone wants to sneak behind Miles, so he moves even closer to you until his chest is plastered completely along your back. Your eyes close, savoring his warmth and security. The full touch of him eases the remaining anxiety you had when you walked in. The bartender, a blonde with a bubbly personality and perfect eyebrows, comes to grab your order. She’s instantly flirty with Miles, who can’t help himself and flirts back. You gnaw on your bottom lip in irritation, scanning the drinks. You try to read them, but nothing is connecting. All you feel is hot anger in your abdomen, twisting your intestines until you feel queasy.
“I’ll have a Coors Light. What do you want?” He rubs a hand along your upper back, keeping his fingers on your shoulder. He presses his thumb into the place he knows you constantly have a knot. His touch makes the bartender back off, settling more into a professional friendly than before. Only the slight falter of her smile indicated the switch.
“Um, I’ll do the passionate paloma.” You chuckle as you say it, pushing the drink menu away.
“Great choice!” She walks off. Miles slowly glides his fingers down your arm until his hand is removed completely from you. Large TV’s fill the space above the bar that show cool, silent films of colorful, tropical locations. It’s all in ultra 4k HD. if you focus on it completely, you almost believe you’re there. The heat from all the people inside raises the temperature compared to the coolness outside in New Jersey.
“Cool vibe.” Miles says, leaning his mouth close to your ear. Your eyelashes flutter at the way his breath moves the baby hairs at your temple. Fuck, does he have any idea what this is doing to you? He seems so unaffected. Are the feelings really this one sided?
A man squeezes into the small space left empty by the stool Miles grabbed for you. Your polite smile gives him a greeting, then you turn back to watch the bartenders hustle in front of you. You’re pretty sure working here would be your own personal hell.
“Wow, so many choices.” The man says, gesturing to the large, long menu.
“Yeah, I had a hard time choosing.”
“What did you get?”
“A paloma. I love tequila.”
“Me too! And they supposedly have high-end stuff that’s hard to import from Mexico.”
“Really? Show me.” He runs through the list, pointing out the three different tequilas he knows are hard to come by. His arm brushes against yours while you also feel Miles ghost his fingers along your other arm. You resist the urge to shiver, but goosebumps still dart down your whole body.
“If you’re interested, and up for being out late, I know this great tequila bar a few blocks from here.”
“Hey bud, your date looks kinda bored over there.” Miles cuts in, nodding in the direction the guy came. He starts to give Miles a “butt out” look then takes in his full, massive form behind me. He must think better of it because he doesn’t try to extend the conversation further.”
“That was rude.” I snap at Miles when he walks away.
“He was being rude. Why do guys think women are around only for their entertainment?”
“What? We were making small talk.”
“That’s what I’m here for.”
“Well you’re behind me.”
“Here.” He taps your hips for you to get up. You stand and he sits down on the stool, pulling you onto his big thigh. You stumble a bit, needing to clutch his shoulder for balance. Your legs are turned between his and his wide stance supports your full weight easily. “Now we can talk.” He smiles. You stare wordlessly at him as his hand makes a home on your left hip.
“Here you go!” The bartender sets your drinks down, then rushes off to the next group. You hand Miles his boring beer bottle. Your drink is in a plastic coconut with a striped pink and teal straw. It’s garnished with a slice of grapefruit and a purple flower. You cheese excitedly at him, taking your phone out to snap a picture. You wiggle around a bit while doing so. Miles clears his throat, adjusting slightly on the seat with a heavy breath.
“You okay?” You ask him.
“Mhm.” He takes two long gulps of his beer, then exhales heavily again.
“Why are you so weird tonight?” You blurt out.
“I’m not?”
“You are.”
“Is that lipstick new?” He suddenly tries to change the subject.
“See? What is that!”
“I don’t know. I’m on edge a bit, I guess.” He shakes his head, sliding his fingers on your hip so they splay down your thigh more. Your stomach flip flops at the awareness of his fingers tips so close to intimate areas.
“How did your date go the other night?” Miles has been on and off Raya the last few months. Every time he is off, he spends every single day he can with you. But he inevitable goes back on to “see what new fish there are”. It shouldn’t bother you, but it does. Talking about this will easily distract you from his fingers.
“Won’t be seeing her again.” He rolls his eyes, sighing heavily again. His lips tilt his beer back for another long sip.
“Not pretty enough?” His eyes meet yours.
“No.” He drags the word out. “She was beautiful. Just… not for me. I’m off the apps again. For good this time.” You cock an amused eyebrow. “I’m serious.” He says, drawing a circle on your thigh with his thumb. “Gonna focus on finding something real.”
“You’re great. You’ll find someone.” You hesitantly reach up for his hair, pushing his stray hairs back into place. Miles’ eyes close briefly before they open again, a little softer and sweeter.
“Hey, my mom is coming to town this weekend. You around for brunch? Maybe dinner at that tapas place too?”
“Yeah! I love Cheryl.”
“She loves you too.” He smiles. “How is your drink?”
“Good. Wanna sip?” He winces at the idea of tequila. “It’s good tequila. Not shit.”
“Ooooo that is good.” He murmurs after taking a sip. “Gimme more.” He sucks up another two sips before you rip the drink out of his hand.
“Drink your shitty beer and be sad.” You laugh.
“I’m getting that next. Don’t tell the boys.”
You end up sticking around for another couple of drinks. The place eventually dies down a bit, but you both start to get hungry. At the end of the block is a pizza by the slice shop. You both grab a massive slice of their famous buffalo chicken pizza then decide it’s time to call it a night. Miles has practice tomorrow morning and is leaving in the afternoon on a quick, two day road trip. As you are walking back to your apartment, you still past a country bar where music filters out onto the sidewalk to you. Miles, a huge country music buff, stops you. His head falls back, groaning at the stars.
“I love this song. You have to dance with me.” He reaches for your fingers that have spent more time in his today than ever before. You listen, recognizing the slow cords of a guitar and the deep, steady tone of Luke Combs’ voice.
“And if your touch, shattered me like glass.” Miles sings. The hand holding yours lifts while his other wraps around your hips. He pulls you close, so your temple brushes against his jaw as he leans his head towards yours. “Even if I knew the day we met you’d be the reason this heart breaks…. Oh I’d love you anyway.” You can’t help but lean into him further. He reacts by tightening his grip on you.
You know you shouldn’t. It’s so dangerous to do this, but you still let yourself pretend.
You imagine this is a date. That when you get back to your place, he’s going to come in. He will follow you into your bedroom, clothes littering the floor, before he will lay you down and love you like the words in this song suggest.
 “There’s just some things that leave a man no choice.” Miles breaks through your thoughts. His voice sounds great combined with the cords of the song and Luke fading into the background.
“Get the fuck off the sidewalk, morons.” Someone snaps as they walk by, making Miles and you jolt.
“Fucking Jersey.” Miles rolls his eyes as the guy continues on. His blue eyes glare at the man’s retreating back. You step away from his embrace completely, shivering at the windy bite that digs into your body at the disappearance of Miles’ body heat.
“I love this song too.” You say to break some of the tension away.
The rest of the walk is a blur. You’re lost in your thoughts, wondering why tonight feels so different. Miles has always been flirty and touchy, but this seems so different. It’s almost like he can’t stop himself from touching you. Or maybe this is all a hopeful illusion created by your love-sick heart and willing mind?
“Where ya going?” Miles asks, fingers lacing with yours to stop your next step. You glance up, realizing you’re at your apartment. He chuckles, tugging your fingers to lead you into the lobby. He holds your hand the entire elevator ride and down to your front door. Right as you pull your keys out, he envelopes you into his arms. It’s a deep, secure hug. You cup the large muscles of his back, breathing in the delicious scent of his cologne. It assaults your senses, making a happy bubble fill your chest and relax your body. This is too good. You’re losing hold of the reality that you’re just friends.
“Miles, you’re killing me.” You sigh, closing your eyes. You can’t help it. He’s been in your space all night and you are losing your god damn mind about it. Slowly, his head tilts down to stare into your eyes. The desire there is unmistakable. Blue, stormy waves of need for you.
“Please let me kiss you.” He swallows hard. “All night, I’ve been dying to taste this lipstick that I know is new.” His thumb ghosts along your bottom lip, gathering some of the color onto his skin. “I can’t stop thinking about why you bought it… or for who.”
For him, of course it was for him.
You look up at his plumped lips, dying for them to touch yours. So you jump, leaping off into a life-altering decision before you can talk yourself out of it again.
“I bought it for you.” You confess, wrapping a hand around the back of his neck. You crash his lips to yours hard. His hand instantly threads through the hair at the base of your neck, cradling your head as he tips you back to deepen the kiss. His tongue rolls around your mouth, touching every bit of it with the wet muscle. A moan hits his mouth from yours. He pulls away, but you launch yourself further into him, not letting him catch his breath. You want him as breathless as he’s made you all damn night. Your arms hold his shoulders as your keys boop against his back.
Whatever you thought this would be like with him has been shattered to smithereens. It’s better. So much fucking better.
You’re obliterated by the taste of him when you pull away. Your eyes lift to meet his, not sure how you’re going to live the rest of your life knowing he tastes this good and not having him.
“I have been wanting to do that for so long.”
“Why didn’t you?” You groan, gripping his shirt into a fist.
“Because I love you so much and I’m terrified to lose you. I’m such a fuck up with women. You know.”
“You love me?” It’s breathless, unbelievable as you repeat the words he again, so casually just said to you.
“Of course I do.” He looks down at your fingers as he plays with them by your hip. He is so vulnerable. Your throat tightens, wondering if it’s possible you’re still pretending like you had been during your dancing interlude. You wait until he gathers the courage to look at you.
“Miles, I love you too.” Relief sags his shoulders and he goes in for another kiss. This one is more patient, taking the time to explore his new territory further.
“And everything else before this hasn’t worked out for you because you haven’t been with me.” You assure him, then tug him back down to your mouth with his shirt.
“I’ve wanted it to be you. So many times.” He murmurs into your kisses. You hold his face with both of your hands as your tongues tangle together. You can’t help but smile at his words. His lips connect with your teeth. He pulls slightly back, admiring your blissed out look below him. “You gonna let me come in? Maybe get into something more comfortable.” Your body stills. Oh my GOD. “I’m dying to finish Outer Banks.” You sigh, rolling your eyes and slapping at his chest. He laughs with a honk. “Maybe my hands end up in your pants. I don’t know.”
“They better.” You tell him, shoving your keys into the door and walking into your place. Miles begins to walk down the hall, taking his shirt off as he goes. You frown, pointing to the living room. “Miles, I don’t have a TV in my bedroom.”
“I know.” He calls down to you as you hear his jeans hit the floor.
Oh.

blurb with nate mack, make it soooo sweet please ❤️🥰☺️
His eyes had been following you all night long. From the moment you met him outside the locker room of Ball Arena, tucked into your white Avs hoodie and leather jacket ready to face the Colorado cold, Nate had stars in his eyes.
He’d put his game-day suit back on, but the top buttons of his shirt were undone and he now wore a wool coat instead of the suit jacket. A beanie that always got left in his car was pulled over his head but his damp blond hair was peeking out from under it, curling up towards his ears like wings.
“Hey,” he simply greeted, right hand coming up to straighten out your necklace. It was a thin gold chain with his number, the 29 now resting comfortably between your collar bones.
You slipped your arms around his waist, stepping into his chest and that right hand now found your lower back, holding you closer.
“Hi,” you replied, tip toeing in your boots to peck a kiss to his lips. “Think you can score that goal a little earlier next time?”
A teasing smirk lifted your lips and you watched the way his eyes followed it, the comforting blue of them lighting up with your smile. “Lucky I didn’t make you wait until a shoot-out.” He replied, knowing how you couldn’t stand the anxiety of watching them.
You rolled your eyes, ignoring his little chuckle as he took you by the hand and led you back through the arena to the players parking lot. Most of the guys had left by then, already heading to the roof top bar one of the wives picked for tonight’s celebration. Nate always took the longest to leave after a game, following his diligent and relaxing recovery routine.
By the time the two of you joined the rest of the team downtown, they’d already established a large string of tall tables together and Mikko was drinking champagne straight out of the bottle. He saved two seats for you and Nate, sitting your boyfriend right next to him and letting you sit by the end so you could chat with Mel and Gabe. Of course Gabe and Mikko flittered around, squishing between other chattering teammates or delivering drinks from the bar.
Nate only got up once, kissing the top of your head before heading to the bar. He returned with an espresso martini for you and some light calorie beer for himself. Other than that, he was stuck to his seat with an arm stretched out behind you.
Throughout the night he sipped on his one beer, still sticking to his in-season diet. Even when you needed another martini, he’d send Bo with instructions to put it on his tab, not even sparing the younger boy a glance as he did so.
No he kept his eyes on you. You could feel his gaze on your mouth when you raised your voice over the music to answer Mel or when you laughed along with Susana at the expense of her drunk boyfriend. He watched you fiddle with the number on your necklace, straightening it out or simply rubbing your fingers over the cool metal. But his gaze was never heated, at least not with lust.
It was warm with love.
A glow of morning sun across your cheeks, the rays waking you up after a long night.
“You ok?” You asked him after Susana disappeared to the bathroom with Mel, turning your body towards him until your knees pressed into his spread thighs.
Nate hummed, turning to face you as his eyes flickered over your face like he couldn’t decide where to look. He rested his left elbow on the back of his chair, his foot locking around the leg of yours and he drug you closer.
“Perfect,” he finally replied, fingers finding the loose strands of your hair. He twirled his finger around a lock of curled hair, twisting it around his fingers mindlessly. “You?”
Cheeks flushing with heat, you leaned forward until your nose met his chest, wrapping your arms around his waist.
“You’re being sweet tonight,” you comment, pleasant goosebumps rising on your arms as he continued to play with your hair.
“I’m always sweet.”
You laughed. “Extra sweet, then.”
His chest fumbled with laughter, the breath of his chuckle hot on the crown of your head. Nate stayed quiet and you left him to his thoughts, closing your eyes to simply enjoy the feeling of his body against yours.
You don’t how much time had passed before he pulled you back by the collar of your leather jacket, nudging you to look up at him. Compliant, you met the warmth of his gaze and noticed the way he just seemed to glow extra tonight.
“I love you,” he said, lips curling with a smile. “I don’t think I say it enough but yeah. Love ya kid.”
Giggling, you cupped your hand behind his neck and drug his mouth down to yours.
“Love you more, kid.”
Sealing your lips together, you decided that he does say he loves you enough. But you’ll never complain for him saying it extra.

Just Y/n - Cale Makar
Summary: You are not sure where you and Cale stand in your relationship.
Word count: 2.3K
Warning: cale being a red flag; lack of communication; anxiety
a/n: so while going through the notes app in my phone I found some of my work from the original kaleforcale888 and decided to rewrite it. Anyway thanks for sticking around as I get my crap all back together!
Tumblr media
You didn’t know what it was about Cale, but you were definitely starting to have stronger feelings than just “liking” him. What a cliché, middle school thing to say, liking someone. You didn’t know what it was about the man; maybe it was his beautiful, blue eyes that caught you attention, or his crazy hair that sticks up in all different directions at any given moment.
Despite being incredibly good looking, he was also the sweetest person you had ever met. Cale had the best personality. On the outside he was reserved and quiet, but once you got to know him, he was actually really interesting and fun to be around.
You hadn’t been seeing or even hanging out with Cale for very long, only going on a few dates here and there depending on when he was in Denver. You had met at a King Soopers’ Starbucks, him having come in for a drink and leaving with your phone number. From then on you had been on one formal dinner date but had hung out at miscellaneous times when he was in the state. Your favorite was just spending time with him at his apartment and doing random, mundane things. You felt like you got to know the real Cale, not Cale Makar: MVP defenseman.
Spending so much time together made you feel like you had known him your entire life. One date and ever since, you had magically fallen into a routine together. When he had home games, you’d stay at his apartment until the game was over, then spend the evening together before sharing a bed together for the night. While he was away, you would sit at home, missing him, wishing he was there with you.
With your routines naturally integrating, you never had the “what are we talk.” Yeah, you kissed on a regular basis and often slept in the same bed, but some aspects of your life never fully unified; and for a time, part of you was fine with that, but as of late, it was starting to wear on you. You had never met his friends or even teammates, let alone his family, and you started to doubt your relationship, or maybe lack thereof.
***
You sat on the couch of Cale’s apartment, watching the end of the hockey game. The Avs won again, and you knew he would walk through the door nonchalantly but would be elated on the inside. After about an hour or so later, a jingle of keys in the door let you know that Cale was home. You smiled to yourself.
“I’m home,” Cale joked, throwing his bag next to the door so he could easily find it tomorrow morning.
Looking back at him, you rested your chin on the back of the couch, “Hi, how was it,” you asked, acting like you hadn’t just watched the entire game in his living room. You always liked to ask him how it went to get his perspective.
He crouched down to be level with you and smiled, “It was good.”
You rolled your eyes at his humbleness and leaned in closer to him. Cale closed the gap between you, placing a quick kiss on your lips and stood up, too fast for your liking.
There honestly wasn’t a thought running through your mind that he didn’t like you, especially not after that flirtatious kiss. You just wished you would finally make it “official.” All you wanted recently was to meet his friends and to be a part of his world, completely.
“Hey babe,” Cale called, you didn’t even realize he had walked away because too distracted by your own thoughts.
Slightly smiling to yourself at the sweet endearment, “Yeah?” Why were you even questioning anything?
“I think I’m gonna take a quick shower, then head to bed. You are more than welcome to stay if you’d like,” he said, leaning on the door frame of his bedroom, waiting for a response. You just shook your head and settled back into the couch.
***
A few days later, you found yourself back in the very same place, Cale’s apartment. You had spent the night and he had just got back from his morning skate. “So then, Mel and a few of the other girls came and picked up their new jackets, and the guys got distracted so Bednar just ended it then.”
You shook your head, just listening to him as you stole a grape from his lunch plate. You were keeping unusually quiet today and sat with your thoughts, this was new to Cale, but he could tell that there was something bothering you. All you could think about was getting a jacket with Cale’s name on the back and being able to sport it with pride on game days. You also couldn’t help but wonder if you would get along with the other girls and wanted to meet his friends.
Sitting in silence for a few more moments, opening and closing your mouth, Cale looked up at you, expecting you to speak, “do you think I’d get along with the other girls?”
“I don’t see why you wouldn’t,” he responded, walking to the kitchen, “You’d probably love them.”
“What about the guys?”
“They’d probably adore you, probably chirp you for being with me, but its all-in good nature,” he said as he opened the fridge to pretend to look busy, “But why are you bringing this up now? What’s going on?”
“I want to meet your friends, your Denver family. I want to see the other side of you and the other community you’re apart of. I feel like you’re ashamed of me or some…” before you could finish, Cale closed the door of the fridge and pinched the bridge of his nose. He let out a breath, walked closer to you, and grabbed your hands.
“I’m not ashamed of you by any means… it’s just always been hard for me to let people into my life. But listen, if it really means that much to you,” he stopped and took a deep breath, “there is a charity dinner next weekend, before the start of the playoffs, would you like to be my date? We could get all dressed up, maybe look for a dress…”
Before he could continue, you shrieked out a yes and grabbed his face, kissing all over it. “Does this mean I get to meet all the guys?”
“I don’t see why not,” he smiled at you and pressed your foreheads together before kissing you.
***
The charity  dinner was tonight and to say you were nervous was an understatement. How was Cale going to introduce you? Were you his girlfriend, his good friend? You weren’t entirely sure.
You looked in the mirror, and touched up your hair as Cale came into the bathroom connected to your bedroom. He arrived 30 minutes early as always and waited on your bed as you finished getting ready. Making eye contact through the mirror, you gave him a tight-lipped smile to which he returned, “I’m a little nervous,” you said as you scrunched into your shoulders.
“It’ll be okay,’ he said, finally walking into bathroom to wrap his arms around your shoulders.
“I know,” you turned around in his arms, “but what if they don’t like me? They have to be protective over you.”
“I promise you, if I like you, they’re going to have to put up with you. But you only have like 2 minutes, otherwise we’re gonna be late,” he said, checking his watch.
You rolled your eyes, “your definition of late or mine,” you teased and turned to finish what you were doing.”
***
As you walked into the hall, it felt like all eyes were on you and Cale, his arm interlocked with yours as you entered. “Calers!” A tall blonde man shouted across the room. Cale’s cheeks turned brighter red than normal as he directed you towards the group the man was standing with.
“Hey guys.”
“Well, well, well, Calers, who is this?” One of the men in the group asked.
“This is Y/n. Y/n this is Gabriel Landeskog, Nathan Mackinnon, and JT Compher.” He finished, pointing to a decently tall man with flaming red hair. Your heart sank in your chest, and you looked down hoping your face didn’t show too much disappointment. You weren’t officially his girlfriend; you just did relationship-y things. An awkward silence landed over the group.
“It’s nice to finally put faces to the names,” you fake laughed, breaking up some of the silence.
As the guys started up a conversation about what they could do better heading into playoff season, a woman walked up to Gabe. She gave the man a drink before stepping closer to you and offering you a smile, “Hey, I’m Mel.”
“Hi, I’m Y/n,” you smiled back at the blond.
“All this hockey talk is kind of boring, would you like to get a drink?”
You shook your head and untangled your arm in Cale’s before leaning up and whispering to him, “I’m gonna go get a drink,” to which he responded with a nod and a kiss to your cheek.
You followed Mel to the bar and ordered your drink, “I’m Gabe’s wife, if you couldn’t tell,” she joked, making you feel less nervous, “Are you Cale’s girlfriend?” She asked as you sat down at the bar together.
There it was the ever so dreaded question. Taking a sip of your cocktail to distract yourself, you shook your head, “no, just Y/n,” you said, repeating what Cale had told the other guys earlier in the evening.
Mel shook her head in understanding, “We’ll, he’s truly a good kid, if that’s what you’re worried about,” she said, looking over at her husband and the defenseman interacting.
“No, yeah, I know. We’ve been hanging out for a while and I really like him, but we’ve never made anything official.”
Mel looked at you, studying your body language, she could tell this was bothering you. “Well, I don’t know how long you guys have been “hanging out”, but I’ve known him for three years now, and he’s never once brought a date to one of these. Let alone a barbeque or team pool party.”
A slight smile crept up on your lips. At least he felt comfortable enough to be willing to introduce you to his friends, despite you having to ask him. You and Mel continued to talk and get to know each other before she excused herself. When you looked over to find Cale, you saw her talking to Gabe and Cale, who looked like he was very interested in whatever she had to say.
Not long after, you finished your drink and followed in her footsteps to find Cale who was talking to some older looking men. Tapping on his shoulder, he greeted you with a smile, pulled you into his side, and continued his conversation with the men. Once there was a lull in the conversation, he looked down to you, noticing you weren’t acting like yourself, “Hey, are you okay?”
“Yeah,” you lied, “just getting a little tired,” you finished off with a fake yawn.
Cale shrugged it off and looked at his watch, “It is getting late, why don’t we get out of here?”
As you walked to the car hand in hand, your thoughts couldn’t help but spiral. Cale opened the car door for you; this sucked, you knew when you got home you would fall directly back into the dance of avoiding whatever conversation needed to happen.
Slamming your eyes shut, you laid your head on the car seat. The quiet got interrupted by Cale gently whispering, “You’ve seemed a little off these past few days. What’s going on in that mind of yours Y/n?”
“Nothing.”
“Please don’t lie to me, Y/n.” Cale whispered, grabbing your hand.
“I’m not lying.”
“I know you are. I was talking to Melissa, and I think we need to have a conversation.”
This conversation could either be very bad or very good, there was no telling at this moment.
“I agree,” you breathed out.
“She said that I should stop avoiding telling you how I feel,” he said as gently started rubbing his thumb across your knuckle, “I hope you know I really like you,” you slightly chuckled, “like a lot.”
“Well, that’s good to know. I was really starting to doubt, I mean just Y/n. Really, Cale? You can’t even introduce me as your girlfriend,” you said, refusing to look up at him.
“I didn’t think we needed a title. For goodness’ sake, we practically spend every waking minute together!” Despite his frustration and lack of being able to truly communicate his feelings, he remained calm. He knew that raising his voice could only make the situation worse and he would only feel more frustrated, “I thought those were titles were juvenile.”
You quickly looked up at him, laughing, trying to hold back tears, “Cale, I want to be your girlfriend!”
Cale sighed and leaned over the console, putting your foreheads together.
“Okay then, will be my girlfriend?”
“Really? That’s all it took for you to finally ask me but yes” you smiled and kissed him.
“I’m sorry, by the way… I didn’t know it meant that much to you.”
“I accept your apology. But I will say, we are both terrible at communicating.”
“I agree, now can we go home?” he asked as he put the car in reverse to pull out of the parking spot.
***
A couple of weeks later, a package was delivered to Cale’s apartment addressed to you. Opening the cardboard box, you found a burgundy jacket with two interlocking hockey sticks on the arms. On the back was “MAKAR” stitched in black with a white outline and a big 8 to match his jersey. You smiled widely and hugged the fuzzy jacket in excitement. The only other thing inside the box was a note.
“Just in time for playoffs :) - M”

hi! let’s do it, right this time!! could i request a trip to paris with cale makar where he’s going to propose but you don’t know it yet for your travel around the world summer requests!! thank you!
yes this is absolutely cute!! tysm; also can you tell I watched friends before writing this lol
come along the world trip
📍paris, france with cale makar
"That was a great diner," you said as you stepped out of the small Parisian restaurant holding your boyfriends hand. He agreed, having ordered another appetizer during his actual meal because he couldn't get enough, you weren't surprised. The restaurant he chose served divine food and the atmosphere was very romantic. "I'm still in the mood for Crêpes, though. You?"
"Sure, I could eat one." He would never not want any more food. You looked up a place to go and remembered a place from your research before the trip that came highly recommended.
"No, not that one. It's not near the Eiffel Tower," Cale disagreed.
"So?"
"I want to see it light up."
"We can do that tomorrow. Or afterwards."
"No, I want to do it now. Come on, they're just as good over there," he continued to argue, but it didn't make much sense to you. "Come on."
With a sigh, you gave in and followed him in the opposite direction. You were really confused by his behavior, he never insisted like that without giving a legitimate reason and usually he gave into whatever you wanted. But now that you thought about it, he had been acting weird this entire trip, especially today. He was extremely jumpy and lost in his thoughts.
The streets of Paris were extremely busy and loud, but you loved that. While not every street was beautiful and you were definitely aware of your surroundings, you loved the of building and all of the different kinds of people living their best lives here. But with the sun long gone and the wind that had picked up a bit, you were getting a bit chilly on your walk so you asked for his blazer.
"Of course." He stopped to take it off, but then suddenly paused and then put it back on. "Actually, uh, no. Sorry."
You furrowed your brows in confusion. "What? Why?"
"Well, uh," he looked for his words, coughing a couple times. "Then I'd be cold."
"Oh-kay." You kept walking, a bit disturbed by the experience. He always offered his jacket and would rather freeze to death than let you be a bit chilly. "You're being weird."
He chuckled and draped his arm over your shoulder, his hand still in yours. "Yeah, well, that's me." He kissed the side of your head, then changed the subject to distract you from that awkward interaction.
"Une crêpes au Nutella, s'il vous plaît," you ordered a while later at a little food truck near the Eiffel Tower. "Et une au Nutella et bananes."
You paid the man and watched him make the two crêpes. Cale grinned, "that was hot."
"Merci."
Once your crêpes were ready, you found a spot on a bridge with a perfect view of the tower to eat them. You saw it sparkle a few times and shamelessly leaned into the tourists in you and took some sweet pictures. In the last while, you could tell he had relaxed a bit, but now he got fidgety again.
"Love," he looked around nervously, while grabbing your hand. He cleared his throat one too many times before you gave him a concerned look, but the mood changed suddenly when his hand reached into jacket pocket and pulled out a small black box. Out of the corner of your eye the Eiffel Tower started sparkling again and a lightbulb went off in your head. He was about to propose.
Time slowed down as Cale lowered to one knee. Your breath got caught in your throat. Your pulse started racing. And your eyes flooded with tears. "Cale-" It was barely a whisper. He cleared his throat one more time, then smiled looking up at you.
"(Y/n), I have loved you for a long time now. Probably longer than I should admit, because the first thing I thought when I first saw you was 'I want to marry her one day'. Well, now I'm hoping to make that a reality. You are my favorite person in this world and you're making me a happier and better man every day. Even with my crazy schedule, when we're miles apart or right here next to each other, I always feel close to you. You're the only person I want to come home to, wake up to, and kiss goodnight. I love you more than words could ever describe. And with this ring," Cale opened the little box, revealing a beautiful ring. "I will promise to love you forever and ask you to spend the rest of your lives together. (Y/n), will you marry me?"
"Cale—", a small sob left you. Your entire body was screaming the word 'yes', even before he asked the question, but all you could do was whisper it over and over again. "Yes. Yes. Yes."
He managed to slide the ring on your finger before you threw yourself at him, slinging your arms around his neck. "Yeah?"
You nodded vigorously. "Yes. Always."
His dimples appeared, deeper than ever, and even in the dark you could see his blue eyes sparkle with joy. He finally kissed you, his soft lips exploring yours with newfound passion.
"That's why you were acting so weird," you realized when you pulled away after a moment.
"Guilty. I just wanted to do it in front of the lit up tower and couldn't wait another day." You kissed his grin, too sweet not to. "Oh, if you're still cold you can have my jacket now."
You threw your head back with a small laugh. "I'm good. I'm all warm and fuzzy now. I love you."
"Love you more, honey."

“I don’t know what you want from me?”?
With either Cale Makar or Jack Hughes? I couldn’t find your who your write for list ):
Tumblr media
↳ I do not own this gif. this gif belongs to its rightful owner.
masterlist
pairings: cale makar x nurse!reader
warnings: arguing + cale being a dick + lightly proofread
you’re too drained to even notice the time when you got home from the hospital. these past two weeks you got stuck with night shifts and they’ve been brutal. a patient died on the table, two emergency surgeries, and three ICU patients admitted. coming home felt like a reward, but it hasn’t been these past couple of days.
your boyfriend, cale, wasn’t being as supportive of the night shifts as he used to be. he always was one to make you meals for the shift, do your laundry, etc. but this time he’s been frustrated because every time you come home you go right to bed. he missed you. and there was no denying you missed him as well, but sleep was a priority for you.
when you got home that morning, you immediately started getting ready for bed. there was no time to waste considering in a couple of hours you’d have to be back up again taking care of other people’s lives. it was exhausting and draining, but it felt rewarding when you saw a patient get discharged.
entering the bedroom, cale was still asleep. usually when you got home he was right at the door getting ready to leave or just there to help take the load off for you. but recently he’s still been in bed, and by the time you climbed in his alarm was just going off.
finishing your routine, you heard cales alarm go off unexpectedly earlier than normal. sighing, you moved out of the way of the bathroom to allow him to get ready. hardly any words were ever spoken during this exchange. and to be fair, no words have really been expressed all week.
“morning,” he mumbled brushing past you. it hurt to see just sudden his mood changed with you. he used to be so in love with having a girlfriend that was nurse, but nowadays it seemed like he wanted a girlfriend like his teammates had. someone who waited around and moved whenever he did. but you just couldn’t do that. you loved your job.
“how did you sleep?” you asked from the other side of the bathroom door. you heard him mumble a few words, but nothing you could make out. so this is how it’s going to be? you thought to yourself. you rolled your eyes deciding to climb into bed now.
the bathroom door opened and there stood Cale’s body in the door frame. you couldn’t make out much but you could tell he was shirtless and still in his boxers. “bad day at the hospital?”
you shook your head adjusting your pillows, pulling the blankets closer to your body, “no, just tired.”
“you’re always tired.” he complained, you heard him rummaging through his drawers trying to find something to wear. you didn’t want to have this argument with him. not now. not when you needed sleep.
you sighed, closing your eyes, “cale, I just worked a whole week of back to back night shifts. I am beyond tired.”
“I get it, y/n. work is rough. just trying to have a conversation.” he shook his head, leaving for the bathroom with his clothes it allowed you time to get settled into bed before he came back into the bedroom.
“think you can make it to the game tomorrow? or will you be at work?” his tone came out like venom. like he was trying to push your buttons or make you feel bad. he knew you couldn’t make it, but it gave him something to talk about with you.
“I can’t, cale. I’m working.”
“what do you want from me, y/n? I can’t even have a conversation with you! I get it you’re tired, but it’s a job. you don’t have to take it so seriously.”
sitting up out of bed, you flipped on the light on your bedside table so he could see just how upset those words made you. it wasn’t just a job for you it was your career. you couldn’t even imagine saying that to him.
“how dare you, cale! I would never say that to you! this is my life and I love my job. you don’t get to just say that to someone.” your voice rose with anger. you could feel the heat inching around your face. this was a conversation you did not want to be having with him. not when he was about to leave for practice and you should be sleeping.
“I’m sorry, but I feel like I don’t have a partner anymore. so I don’t know where this leaves us. it’s the job or me, y/n.”
shaking your head in disbelief, you got up to start packing your things. you couldn’t stand to look at him right now.
“my job is what makes me happy, and right now? you’re making me sick.”

"i just want to lay here all day" & "we can share" for one fluffy bunny tyson jost pls <3
you hit snooze on your phone alarm for the 5th time, groaning at the thought of getting out of your warm bed. you rolled over expecting to see tyson but he wasn’t there.
“tyson?” you half yell in a sleepy voice.
“yeah babe?” he says walking into your room with a cup of coffee in hand.
“why’d you leave?”
“well your first alarm woke me up, clearly it didn’t work for you.” he teased, climbing back into bed beside you. you nuzzled into his side, absorbing his body heat. he put his arm around you and gently rubbed your back while he sipped on his coffee.
“i just want to lay here all day.” you mumble into tyson’s chest. you loved mornings when he didn’t have practice and you were able to just relax.
“as much as i would love too babe, we got things to do today.” you let out a groan at tyson’s comment, causing his to chuckle. “cmon babe, it’ll be a good day!” he says giving you a squeeze.
“it would be a good day if i had a cup of coffee too.” you say giving tyson a dirty look before flashing a smile so he knows you were just teasing.
“i used the last of our coffee…” he says with a nervous smile. “we can share?” he moves the cup over to you slowly and put it up to your lips, slowly pouring some into your mouth. you make an exaggerate “ahh” after your sip, turning your head up more towards tyson and giving him a soft smile.
“my god i’m spoiled.”
“that’s how it should be princess.” tyson takes another sip of the coffee and hands the cup to you. “you can have the rest, and meet me in the shower in 5.” he says with a wink, slipping out from under the covers one last time for the day.

Pls I am begging for a fic where the reader works in team’s front office and literally any avalanche player 😌😌😌😌😌
Something to Dream About - JT Compher
Tumblr media
Pairing: JT Compher x Reader (f)
Summary: Secret relationships are messy. They’re even messier when your boyfriend is a professional athlete playing for the organization you work for. Surely nothing will happen when you have to spend the evening together at the charity gala that you’ve been planning for months… right?
Word Count: 5.5K
Author’s Note: I don’t know who I am but JT Compher has taken over my life. This fic came out of absolutely nowhere.
Warnings: Smut (18+ ONLY). Secret relationship, brief alcohol use/mention, oral sex (f receiving), unprotected sex, risqué sex (do I have a thing for this???)
Part 2 / Moodboard / Masterlist
The sound of your heels clicking on the cement echoes through the halls, your pace quickening to reach the door. Your mind is flooded with checklists, to dos, trying to keep all of them straight to write down so they don’t get lost in the abyss.
Reaching your destination and opening the double doors, you look around Ball Arena, amazed at the transformation that’s come over the building in the last 24 hours. The ice has been covered with a wood flooring, decorated further with carpet. Cocktail tables covered in elegant black tablecloths are scattered around, the stage erected on one end of the arena, lights and balloons outfitting it nicely. Above you, two men stand on ladders as they erect a large banner, another man standing on ground level and shouting left, a bit further, that’s too far. Your eyes trace over the words at the center, Avs Fight Cancer, the logo standing proudly at the center of the banner, symbolizing all of your hard work the last few months putting together the annual charity gala.
Tonight is the night, and all of Denver’s finest will be there, schmoozing and — hopefully — donating even minuscule fractions of their wealth to support the cause that the Avalanche have rallied behind. The entire Avalanche organization will be there, including Joe Sakic and Stan Kroenke, as well as all of the players and coaching staff, mingling with fans and donors alike. As the Executive Director of Community Engagement, the bulk of the coordination falls on you to manage and ensure everything runs as smoothly as possible, and as the hours wane down until the doors open, you’re certainly feeling the pressure.
Pulling out your phone, you jot down the few remaining notes that bounce around in your brain before you’re called to sign off on the liquor delivery. The next few hours pass quickly, you and the events team pulling the last pieces together before the event. When you finally leave to head home to get ready, you’re exhausted and aching but satisfied with the way things had come together and excitedly anxious for the night to come.
The dress you've selected for the evening is a one-shouldered floor length black number, with a slit going mid-way up your thigh, elegant for the occasion and still classy enough for a professional event. Your hair is done up in a neat bun, keeping it out of your eyes for the running around you’ll undoubtedly be doing. You’re pleased with your appearance, and although looking good tonight is a secondary priority, you’re motivated to make sure you impress in more ways than one.
The event kicks off, and people begin flooding in, checking coats and perusing the items for the silent auction. You’re doing rounds, glancing over everything even though you’d double and triple checked it all before you’d left.
A pair of russet eyes catch yours, a smile sent in your direction beneath a thick, freshly groomed auburn beard. You return the gesture, unable to prevent your eyes from sliding down the body attached to that smile, tailored suit hugging the well-kept muscles that lie underneath.
It’s not the first time you’ve checked out JT Compher in public, but it is the first time you’ve seen him dressed to the nines for a black-tie gala. There’s a moment between you, across the room, temporarily thick with longing, for you can’t cross the floor to be with him the way your heart wants to, kissing him in front of everyone the way you wish you could.
As you glance at him, admiring how good he looks with the rich black of his suit complementing his creamy skin, the conversation you had with him three months ago floods your mind, flashing before your eyes.
You were leaving the office for the day, keys in hand as you walked toward the exit. There was food in the fridge, but you didn’t feel like cooking, so you were debating what you should order for takeout on the way home.
“Y/N, hey, wait up,” a voice called from down the hallway. You paused, turning to see JT Compher jogging toward you, sporting sleek black Colorado Avalanche warmups and a backwards baseball cap.
“Oh, hi, JT. How can I help you?”
“Yeah, um, I wanted to talk to you about something… if you have a minute?”
You smiled and nodded, placing your phone in your purse and turning to face him to give your full attention.
He swallowed nervously, and you noticed that he was fidgeting a bit, shifting from foot to foot. “Will you — would you like to go out with me sometime?”
You stared at him, defense mode kicking in and immediately assuming he was playing a prank on you. “What?”
“You know, like, for dinner or something.”
“JT, are you asking me on a date?”
A blush rose to his cheeks, accenting the red in his hair, and he shoved his hands in his pockets bashfully.“Well, yeah.”
You were unable to help the way your eyebrows rose in surprise. This man was a millionaire athlete, playing in the best league in the world, traveling from city to city every night — and he wanted to take you out on a date?
He was attractive, you couldn’t deny that, always having a soft spot for the depth of his brown eyes and the way he always managed to stop and say hello to you, his down-to-earth personality making it easy to chat with him every time. But, technically, he was your coworker, and you had a strict rule not to date colleagues. You didn’t interact much outside of events and the occasional marketing brief, but the fact that the same person signed both of your paychecks was enough of a reason for you to nope out of that scenario faster than a Cale Makar breakaway.
“I’m flattered, JT, but I don’t think that’s a good idea,” you picked your words  carefully, rejection never a strong suit of yours. “We work together, and it could get messy.”
Something shifted in his face, though he remained smiling. You could see his eyes fall as he nodded, “Oh, yeah. I totally understand.”
“I’m sorry.” You smiled, trying to soften the blow and do anything you could to get that fucking look out of his eyes.
“No worries at all,” he said, quickly, maybe more to himself than to you, before offering another smile, bidding an awkward goodbye, and sheepishly walking away.
From that day, those beautiful chestnut eyes followed you wherever you went, haunting you, as if to tell you that you’d make a mistake not accepting his advances. Whether it was frequency illusion or just a coincidence, he seemed to be everywhere you turned. First, it was a photo shoot for the PetSmart puppy calendar. Then, it was a youth hockey event, which you coincidentally parked next to him for. He showed up in your dreams two weeks later, his same charming and jovial self.
Things changed when you were at home one night, wine drunk on the couch with your best friend watching The Bachelorette. (Even at home, away from work, you found that the tall, ginger contestant reminded you of another tall, bearded redhead.) She snatched your phone while you were aimlessly swiping on Hinge, exclaiming with a slur, “‘M gonna find you a husband.”
Giggling, you watched as she swiped, providing commentary on the various men’s dating profiles, and you gasped when she paused. Smiling up at you from the screen of your phone were the same eyes you’d been trying to avoid.
“Oh, he’s cute,” she said, scrolling through his pictures. His profile included a wide array of photos, including one with his sisters (clearly related, you determined, given the same shade of fiery red hair), a cropped picture of him and some guys on the beach, and a picture of him smiling down at two puppies in his arms. You’d been there that day, trying to ignore the way your heart melted seeing him coo over the puppies, so small in his big arms.
“D’you know him?” she asked, turning the phone toward you to show the last picture: celebrating a goal, Avs logo standing proudly on his chest as his arms stretched for an incoming hug.
You nodded, and before you could get a word out, she’d swiped right. You shrieked, her cackle nothing short of maniacal as she held your phone out of reach despite your best attempts to steal it back.
“Elle, no —“
“It’s a harmless swipe, Y/N,” she shrugged nonchalantly. “You can always unlike —“
She gasped, and you both looked down when your phone dinged, signaling that you had a match. You groaned, throwing your head against the back of the couch as you scrubbed your hands over your face. Even if you could undo the match, the damage had been done, for JT had seen the match already.
You managed to avoid him for the next week, embarrassment flooding every time you saw his car in the parking garage and turning down the wrong hallway just to prevent yourself from running into him.
It was a Thursday when life as you knew it changed forever.
You were reviewing the line items from the liquor vendor for the gala, checking the quantities and the prices. Engrossed in the numbers in front of you, you didn’t hear a certain athlete approach with a confident saunter.
“So, about that date… ?”
You closed your eyes at the sound of his voice. “Hi, JT.”
“Come on, not even a smile?” he grinned. “I know you can’t be that disappointed to see me.”
The reference, while subtle enough if anyone else had overheard, was glaringly obvious to you, the image of your photos bouncing together on the app with ‘It’s a Match!’ flashing through your mind. You glared at him, then nodded your head toward your office door, signaling him to get inside.
“Oh, we’re doing this right now? I would’ve dressed a little nicer had I known.”
He’s confident, a complete 180 from the way he’d been a few weeks prior, stuttering and nervous like he was a 17-year-old asking someone to prom. His recent 3-game point streak was enough of a reason for the enhanced confidence, though you still hadn’t connected the dots as to the additional factors for the added edge in his game.
“JT, please,” you said once you’d closed the door, thankful that the rest of your colleagues had left for the day. “We can’t.”
“Why not?”
“We’re coworkers,” you said pointedly.
JT scoffed with a smile. “Coworkers? Hardly. Our jobs barely overlap. We just work in the same building. This is like, best case scenario.”
“I don’t mix personal and professional,” you said, sounding more firm than you felt.
“What about pleasure and professional?” he asked with a wink. You rolled your eyes, and he added, “Really, Y/N. It isn’t that big of a deal. I can name like, at least three guys that are dating someone who works for their team.”
“That’s not the point! It’s a principle.”
“You afraid I’m a stereotypical hockey bro? Not all of us are just pretty playboys.”
‘You sure are pretty, though,’ you thought to yourself, instead replying with, “It has nothing to do with that.”
“Please,” he added. His voice was a little deeper, more serious. “Just give me a chance. One date. That’s all I’m asking.”
You swore you could feel the actual heat of his gaze on you as you looked away to contemplate. Truthfully, there was nothing written against it in the handbook, and he was correct in stating that your jobs really didn’t overlap that much.
What harm could come of it?
“You will not tell a soul.” Your voice wavered, but you looked him square in the eye as you said it.
A smile broke out on his face as he mock saluted you, and any remaining doubt you had flew out the window at the sight, the light in his eyes filling you with a little too much joy than you’d care to admit. Before you could think twice, he was handing you his phone to input your number. You did, and handed it back to him, looking at him expectantly.
“I’ll change your life,” was the last thing he said before winking and walking out.
That was three months ago, and, true to his word, he had indeed changed your life in the two-ish months that you’d been dating. It had all been a blur, really, after the first date, and as things progressed you’d still sworn him to secrecy despite his every effort to remind you that you weren’t doing anything wrong.
So, here you are, casting coveted glances at your boyfriend across the room at a million-dollar event, except no one in the room knows that he’s your boyfriend, except for JT himself. It’s a secret, weighing heavy on you every time you come into work or have to watch him go stag to an event that you should be on his arm for.
Someone calls your name, and you tear your eyes away from him, turning to address your colleague, Grace, who’s standing beside you with a tablet, ready to have a final run through of your carefully crafted checklist. You review it twice to ensure that everything is in place and that no loose ends are left.
After a brief team meeting, everyone knows their posts, and Stan Kroenke is waiting by the stage, being briefed by another one of your colleagues with a rundown of the night’s schedule.
You catch JT’s eye, and he sends you a quick wink for luck before you take a breath and walk onto the stage. Doing your best to ignore the bright lights, you focus on not tripping before you get to the podium to welcome everyone. You’re nervous, but the words come to you easily as you explain the night’s festivities and introduce Stan, who is speaking after you.
The speeches go smoothly, as planned, and soon enough the time for mingling has begun. Naturally, most people gravitate to the players, wanting photos and autographs, and at this point, your only remaining assignment is to monitor and be available to assist with any issues that may arise. Everything is going smoothly, so you allow yourself to take a breath and let loose, just a little. You grab a glass of champagne, letting the tickle of it rest in your throat as you go to chat with your colleagues and brush elbows with the donors.
You’re not sure how much time has passed, only aware that the silent auction has begun, meaning it must be around 9pm. The music in the rink is a distant background noise, the sound of amiable chatter echoing in the arena.
“Great job up there.” JT sidles up to you, startling you and causing you to jump. He chuckles before taking a sip of his beer. Your eyes flick to the foam that remains on his mustache, watching the way his tongue darts out to retrieve it.
“Thanks,” you reply with a smile, careful to keep your distance, being in such a public setting. “Been doing this for years but still never gets any easier.”
He hums in response, then lowers his voice slightly. “This whole thing has turned out amazing, babe. I’m really proud of you.”
All you reply with is a look, silently scolding him for the pet name in public. His expression is apologetic, but he doesn’t say anything, instead stepping closer to you under the guise of setting his glass down on the table behind you.
“And for what it’s worth, there’s no way you’re getting out of here tonight without getting fucked, looking like this,” he whispers in your ear. It’s low, murmured hotly, and fire courses through your veins at the words, which is presumably the exact reaction he’s aiming for.
You splutter in response, stepping away from him. “JT —“
“You look so fuckin’ good, baby,” he husks, and you can hear the hunger in his voice. “Can’t keep my eyes off you. Took everything in me to keep my hands to myself.”
“Don’t… don’t talk like that,” you breathe, feeling the heat in your cheeks despite the fact that no one is near enough to overhear.
“Why? Do you like it?”
The pang of your heartbeat is loud in your ears as you look at him, shaking your head. He smirks, knows that you’re lying, can see it in the way your breath hitches when he runs a hand over his beard.
“C’mon,” he urges, nodding toward the door to the hall, marked with a sign that says Staff and Personnel Only.
With a hesitant sigh, you glance around the room. The guests are chattering, laughing, drinking, everything going exactly as planned. It can’t hurt to take a few minutes away, right?
Your redhead grins when you turn back to him with a shrug. The two of you slip into the hallway, and you do your best to walk both quickly and quietly, your heels clacking loudly on the cement floor.
“JT, there are no private bathrooms down here,” you protest, heart thumping in your chest.
“There’s one,” he grins. “Follow me.”
He leads you away from the rink, down a different hallway from the guest bathrooms.
“JT, where are we —“
“Shh, only a bit further,” he whispers, glancing behind you before taking your hand.
The next thing you know, you’re standing in front of two large sliding doors, the Avalanche logo carved into the rich wood.
“JT, no.”
“Why not?” he smirks, fishing out his access card from his suit coat pocket. “No one’s gonna find us in here.”
Before you can protest, he’s scanning his badge, the doors sliding open with a beep to reveal the entry way to the Colorado Avalanche locker room. You’ve been in it before, but never with a player, and certainly never alone with a player.
The doors are quiet when they shut behind you, and JT steps up to press his body against you, warm against your back as his hands find a hold on your hips.
“Finally alone with you,” he murmurs. “So I can do this.”
The whiskers of his beard tickle your neck first, soothed quickly by the softness of his lips that press a kiss against your skin. You can’t help the sigh that leaves your throat, feeling too good to ignore.
“And this,” he continues, hands giving your hips a squeeze through your dress before he’s flipping you around to face him.
You meet his eyes, soft despite the obvious heat in them, like melted chocolate in the center of a fresh, warm lava cake. He moves to cup your jaw, stroking your cheek gently with his thumb before he’s leaning in, whispering against your lips, “And most importantly, this.”
The kiss is all you need to make you forget where you are, head spinning with his lips against yours. Your internal moral code that was screaming at you up until five seconds ago has quieted, unable to think or feel anything except JT; any protest you had died the minute he touched you.
His hands quickly find their place back on your hips, this time reaching behind you to give your ass a squeeze. You can taste the beer on his tongue as it slides against yours, probing, letting the temperature heat up to near scorching levels. He groans into your mouth, colliding with the moan you let out when he massages the globe of your ass in his hand.
“Stall,” he manages to get out between kisses. “M’stall.”
Slowly, he begins walking you backwards, mouth never leaving your body. You trust him to not run you into a wall, blindly kissing him as your hands find purchase on his jaw. When the back of your knees bump into the wooden bench, you let out a soft grunt and he’s helping to lower you down, making sure you don’t fall.
Once he’s sure you’re seated, he sinks to his knees before you and you bite back a moan at the sight of him kneeling in front of you. With a smirk, he draws the fabric of your dress up your legs, making you shiver as your skin is revealed.
“So pretty,” he murmurs as he takes your leg in his hand, delicate, kissing your calf. It’s slow and torturous, the way he trails his lips up your leg, his beard tickling the sensitive skin of your inner thighs, and you know he’d be teasing you for hours if you had more time.
“No panties?” His voice is deep, husky, when he reaches the bare apex of your thighs, eyes unable to tear themselves away to meet yours.
“Mm,” is the response that you manage, for his finger is running lightly through your folds, coating him in your slick, before you can even answer. “P- panty lines. Panty lines.”
“Sure you weren’t just trying to get fucked? Wanted something easy access just for me, huh?” he teases, a glint in his eye as he looks up at you from between your thighs.
“JT, please,” you whine, rolling your hips against his hand.
“Oh, now she wants it,” he smirks. “You’re lucky I’ve been wanting to taste this pretty pussy since I first saw you walk in tonight. God, my girlfriend is a smoke show.”
“M’not gonna be your girlfriend for much longer if you don’t do something.”
“Oh yeah?” he breathes, mouth inches away from where you want him. The heat from his mouth makes you drip even more, throbbing desperately for his talented tongue. “What’s gonna happen when you break up with me and there’s no one to fuck you the way you want, hmm?”
“If you don’t touch me I’ll do it myself,” you threaten, and he chuckles.
“Think I’d really like to see that,” he muses, and you can tell by the glassy look in his eye that he’s envisioning the sight. “Maybe when we get home. But for now…”
His mouth finally presses against your molten center, tongue running over your lower lips and savoring your taste. He groans into you, beard scratching your thighs in the most delicious way. The man was a natural born pussy eater, you couldn’t deny it, knowing just how to maneuver to turn you into a whimpering mess. Your intense attraction to his thick beard only made your desire stronger, something he’d quickly deduced early on in your relationship and frequently took advantage of.
“So fuckin’ wet for me,” he praises you against your core, feeling the slight vibration of his deep voice all the way in your stomach. “Fuck, you taste s’good, sweetheart. So gorgeous.”
He laps at you, wants to take his sweet time but knows he’s racing against the clock, that things will be worse for everyone if you’re gone too long. Undoubtedly, someone will be looking for you, and soon. So, without warning, he plunges two fingers into you to earn a shriek from your lips before you’re clapping your hand over your mouth to muffle the sound.
Tongue and fingers working in tandem, it doesn’t take long to send you hurtling over the edge, legs shaking on his shoulders as he expertly works you through your high. Your knuckles are white, fisted in the formerly perfectly styled locks on his head, and you hold him against you as you gush against his face.
When he pulls away to grin at you, his thick beard is soaked in your essence and it draws a moan from you, quickly leaning forward to kiss him. The taste of yourself on his beard as his tongue probes your mouth is downright sinful, and you feel yourself throb as if to say, not done yet.
“JT,” you breathe against his mouth, his tongue flitting against your lips. “Fuck me.”
“You were just bitching about getting caught and now you want me to —“
“Need you. Now.”
The snark disappears when he hears the sincerity in your voice, pure instinct taking over as he’s quick to unbuckle his expensive belt, the sound of his zipper sliding down like music to your ears. Your eyes are glued to his length as he pulls himself out of his dress pants, noticing the way his Adam’s apple bobs in his throat as he strokes himself.
The locker room, while spacious, isn’t exactly made for this kind of physical activity, so finding a place to lie down comfortably is difficult. He takes your place in his stall, seated, then tugs you into his lap, bunching the fabric of your dress over your waist again once your thighs are nestled on either side of his hips, core pressed firmly against him. You can feel him, hard as steel against you, and you reach between your bodies to wrap your hand around him.
His jaw goes slack, eyes not leaving yours as you pump him, then swipe your thumb over his tip, smearing the precum over his head before bringing it to your mouth. JT groans as he watches you suck the dew off your finger, his own fingers digging into your hips illustrating that he likes what he sees.
“You want it?” you ask with a smirk.
“Fuckin’—” he curses, unable to keep his lips off of you, “yeah, fuck yeah, please, beautiful.”
Briefly, a moment of clarity hits you as the event flashes through your mind, and you remember where you’re supposed to be, in contrast with where you are. In that split second, you’re faced with the decision — be responsible, or give in to your desire. Given the way JT’s lips are pressing hot, open-mouthed kisses along your neck, his rock hard dick pressing against your naked core, throbbing wantonly against you, it’s not a difficult decision to make.
The sound that your boyfriend emits when you sink down onto him is otherworldly, and you bottle it up, hoping to elicit that sound from him over and over again.
And you do, moving up and down his length while his hands reach to grip your ass, helping your movements. He lets out the same moan against your mouth when you duck down to kiss him, swallowing the sound. When he shifts his hips, tilting them to press himself deeper into your tight heat, you mimic the sound, crying out a call of his name into the emptiness of the room, echoing out of the empty stalls surrounding you.
“Fuck,” he groans, voice low and sending waves of arousal straight to your pussy. “Feels so good, squeezin’ me so tight, baby.”
You lean in to kiss his lips, swollen and red and downright delicious, and your tongue seeks out his own as your hands clutch onto his broad shoulders for leverage. The sound of you bouncing in his lap has his belt buckle jingling, and he rips it out of the last belt loop before chucking it somewhere on the ground behind you, landing with a dull thud on the carpet. A free hand palms your breast through your dress, and the warmth even through the fabric makes your nipples harden, your back arching into his touch. He’s all over you, in your lungs and on your skin, and in that moment you swear you’ll let yourself be swallowed by him, devoured amidst the low lighting in the Avalanche locker room.
“J,” you sigh, breathless. You hope he can pick up the rest of what you’re trying to say, unable to speak words for the bubble of heat that’s rising in your belly, his dick drawing enough pleasure to render you speechless.
Fortunately, he does, and he’s using his grip on your ass as leverage to coax you up and down, faster, striking the perfect spot within you. One of his hands leaves its post on your waist, snaking between your bodies to find your clit, knowing he’s found the bud when you gasp against his jaw. Fireworks dance in front of your eyes, and you throw your head back, eyes squeezed shut tightly as you swear you can visualize your high, just on the horizon. He applies pressure, just enough, circling slowly to gauge your reaction, looking up at your face like you hung the moon and the stars. When he sees your eyes begin to roll back, he repeats the action, desperate to feel you come while wrapped around him.
“C’mon, sweetheart,” he coos, voice dripping in honey.
He claps a hand over your mouth when you cry out in ecstasy as your peak hits you, rippling through you while your hips falter their once steady movements. Between the fluttering of your heat around him and the blissful expression on your face as you climax, JT’s soon reaching his own, spilling deep inside you in the final waves of your orgasm.
There’s a haze around you for a few peaceful, wonderful moments following, and you smile when you see him grinning at you, holding back laughter. The corners of your lips curl up into a smile, and soon enough you’re giggling along with him.
“Can’t believe you just did that,” he says through his laughter.
“You started it!”
“Yeah, but you went along with it,” he winks, grunting when he helps to slip you off of his lap. You can feel his cum dripping out of you, thankful that your dress is floor-length and black, hiding any leakage. He dashes away, returning quickly with a wad of toilet paper and a kiss to help clean you up.
“Kinda want to do it again.”
“JT,” you warn as you adjust your dress, smoothing it out to hide any wrinkles. “We need to get back.”
Nerves flutter inside of you now that the heat of the moment has passed, and you suddenly feel guilty for abandoning the event you spent months planning, even if your temporary distraction is a delicious, incredibly attractive hunk of a man.
“Hey,” JT says, seeing the way your hands have started to wring themselves. His voice is soft and he takes your hands in his, giving them a squeeze. “Everything is fine, okay? You did an incredible job planning this — so good, in fact, that everything is running perfectly smoothly without you, and you are allowed to take a break.”
He’s right, of course, a smug expression on his face when he slips back into the hall ten minutes later, staggering his arrival with yours. His hair has been combed, no evidence that you’d been running your nails through it not 20 minute prior, though you do notice the flush of his lips against the glass of the new beer he’s gotten. The only person who noticed your absence is Grace, but you’re quick with an excuse that you were cornered by Stan, who is notorious for his long-winded conversations. She looks at you, but if she is thinking anything, she doesn’t say it, and you mentally pump your fist that she’s bought your lie.
As you are both approached by Joe Sakic, you have to hide your smile knowing that you’d just fucked one of his players in the locker room just down the hall. You can’t help but feel undeniably smug — and maybe a little bit turned on — that while you chat with some of the wealthiest, most important people in Denver, you can still feel the warmth of JT’s cum inside of you, one bead dripping down the inside of your leg.
Another hour or so later, the last few remaining guests take their leave. The clean up crew begins their practiced routine, and you make your rounds to ensure that the vendors have their appropriate tips and payment before you head up to the office to wrap up for the night. Grace is waiting for you, to tell you the initial count of dollars raised has exceeded $20,000, and you grin, feeling both relieved and quite satisfied at the culmination of your hard work.
Not much later, you and Grace walk to the parking lot together, and you commend her for a job well done, thanking her for keeping you sane. As you bid her goodbye and slip into your car, you take out your phone, smiling to yourself when you see a text.
[JT:] Meet you at yours? [JT:] I’ll make you breakfast in the morning.
You chuckle, sending a text back to let him know you’re on your way.
[Y/N:] I’m heading home now [Y/N:] I prefer waffles, by the way [JT:] Lucky for you, I am a waffle extraordinaire [JT:] See you soon, beautiful 😘
You start your car, stowing your phone in your purse as you exit the parking garage. The bluetooth in your car dings with another text from him, and you roll your eyes as the message pops up on the screen.
[JT:] Still want to see you touch yourself like you promised… I’m waiting 😉

That Which We Are, We Are | Nathan MacKinnon | Prologue
Tumblr media
A/N: HERE IT IS!!!!!  I’ve been waiting so long to post this and I’m SO excited to get this story going!  Though it’s only the prologue, I hope you enjoy!  Let me know what you think!
Nathan MacKinnon would rather be in Halifax than anywhere else in the world, but at this particular moment, he would have rather been playing in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
That dream was clearly not meant to be this year.  Despite a strong showing and a hard-fought effort, he couldn’t get it done.  He blamed a lot of the failures on himself.  Though he was part of a team – a very good team, filled with friends and mentors and guys he considered his brothers through the ups, downs, and battles they faced together – the pressure he put on himself was immense.  Because of this, he thought it was his responsibility, and his alone, to get it done.  To advance in the playoffs.  To get over the hurdle of the second round, which it seemed his team was perennially stuck in.  Alas, he came short.  As was the story nowadays.  The Colorado Avalanche couldn’t get it done.  Nathan MacKinnon couldn’t get it done.
Being back in Halifax was always his favourite part of the year, because he loved his hometown and city with all his heart.  But this time around, things stung a little bit more.  Things hurt.  Not anything to do with the city – the city was beautiful, and in the summer, it was even better.  Mentally, things hurt.  The mental weight of not being able to get it done lay heavy on his chest and in his mind.  It started the second his flight landed.  It continued as he passed through customs, got into a taxi to his parents’ house, and walked through their door.  It continued as he woke up in his childhood bedroom the next morning, got into his Range Rover, and drove to his house on Shubenacadie Grand Lake.  It continued as he stood in his house, alone with his own thoughts and deafening silence, not knowing what to do with himself.
There was only so much he could do.  Plus, he could only wallow for so long until he became a caricature.  It would be on the back of his mind the entire summer, until he got back to training camp and his mind reset – he knew that.  But he also knew he needed to find happiness somewhere.  An equal balance.  Something to focus on other than hockey and his shortcomings.
It would be hard.
Hockey consumed him.  It was his life.  He was like one of those racehorses with blinders on, not being able to truly see anything around him – especially during the hockey season.  Part of it was that it was how his mind worked; the other part of it was that he knew he needed to be that way.  People like that succeeded – they were able to attain the highest level of glory, which he wanted.  Sid certainly did, which people liked to remind him of constantly.  He reminded himself of it constantly.  Sid already had a Stanley Cup by his age, and was on the road to getting his second and third, which he would win by the age of thirty.  He, at twenty-six, still had more than most – he’d won a Memorial Cup, the Calder and the Lady Byng, and a World Championship – but he hadn’t won the Stanley Cup.  That was Nathan MacKinnon – always coming up short of the ultimate prize.
He stayed in his house alone for a few days, eating whatever healthy food his parents had stocked for him when he told them he was flying home.  He took calls from only them and his sister – his agent knew to leave him alone, as did his nutritionist, trainer…basically everybody else.  It would take a while for him to feel normal again and want to communicate.
It was only after he’d been home for a few days that he ventured to go back outside – to Halifax, specifically, and its downtown core.  Despite it being busy, with people out for work lunches and the like, he flew mostly under-the-radar.  It was why he liked Halifax so much.  People knew who he was, so they left him alone.  They took care of their own.  Of course people still came up to him occasionally, especially people with kids (and he always accommodated the kids), whenever he was back in Halifax, he was left to live his life.  He had parallel parked his car on Bedford Row and began walking with no end in mind.  When he didn’t like the look of the buildings, he walked a block down and found some he did like; when he couldn’t see the water, he walked south so he could see it as the blocks opened up.
He was wandering.  And he was a guy who didn’t exactly wander.
His stomach began to grumble, so he knew he needed to find a place to eat.  Not willing to go into a restaurant and blow his cover, he slipped into a tiny, unassuming café on Granville Street, along the cobblestone streets of Granville Mall.  It was in a very artsy area of town, near the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, so he knew being recognized was slim.
He got a table alone.  His waitress was nice, and he ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with fries, and he just kept to himself and his own thoughts.  The café wasn’t too busy – he’d say about half full – and it was only when he was about half-way through his meal that he noticed his waitress interact with another person – a woman, alone just like him, sitting closer to the front display counter and till.  His waitress gabbed enthusiastically with the woman, who had a head of long, long curly hair that was impeccably kept and styled.  She wore a fashionable outfit of a long, sleek blush-coloured blazer (currently hanging on her chair), black dress pants, and a white shirt.  On her feet were a pair of flat, ankle-laced shoes.  Nate was in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt, and kept his baseball cap on inside.
Every member of the staff was kind to her.  They all approached her to say hello, apologized about distracting her from her work (she had an iPad Pro perched on the table behind her plate) stayed for a quick little chat, then went on their merry way.
“What are you working on now?” one waitress asked.
“I’m still working on curating the upcoming exhibit I mentioned last time,” the woman said with a smile.  “It’s almost done!  I’ve been working on it for so long now – I feel like it’s my baby or something.”
“My friends and I are going to get tickets.  When it was announced, we were so excited!”
“Good!  It’s going to be great, if I may say so myself.”
Nate felt like he recognized the woman’s voice.  There was something about it that made it sound familiar, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on where he’d heard it before.  Then, she turned around in her chair to get something out of her purse, and he was able to see her face.  Even her face looked familiar.  Fuck.  She had makeup on, but not so much that it completely covered her features – it was well-done and professional.  He swore he’d seen her somewhere before.  He swore he knew her.
But he couldn’t figure it out.
Nate continued to eat and continued to listen to her interact with the waiters and waitresses.  When he was done and it was becoming socially unacceptable to just be sitting around at his table listening in on conversations while he tried to pinpoint exactly where he knew her, he got up from his seat to approach the till and pay for his meal.  As he waited for someone, he looked over at the woman.  She didn’t notice, as she was focused on her iPad.  He did it a few more times until he was able to tap his card.  He left a hefty tip and put his wallet back into his pocket.
He was supposed to leave.  He was supposed to walk right out the café doors.
Instead, he approached her.
“Um, excuse me?” he said softly, just loud enough to get her attention.  When she looked up at him from her seat at her table, her eyes were wide and beautiful.  “Hi, I—I’m sorry to bother you,” Nate stuttered out.
“That’s alright,” she said in an equally soft yet confident voice.
“I just—I—do I know you?” he asked.
“Nope, but I know you!” was what he was expecting to hear.  Everybody said it to him, because he was home in Halifax, because, well…mostly everyone knew him.  But this woman, whoever she was, looked him dead in the eye and shook her head.  “No,” she said definitively.
Nate was slightly taken aback by her directness.  He couldn’t help but let out the slightest of chuckles, mostly out of nerves.  “Sorry, I—I swear I recognize you and your voice, but I don’t know from where.”
The woman smiled – grinned, really, since she showed no teeth.  “I must have one of those faces or voices,” she said politely.  “Sorry I’m not who you’re looking for.”
Nate accepted the reality.  He nodded his head quickly, bringing his hand up as if to wave off his own behaviour.  “Sorry to bother you,” he apologized.  “E—Enjoy the rest of your lunch.  Have a great day.”
“You too, sir.”
Sir.  He’d just been called sir in his hometown.  He wanted to shudder.
He left the restaurant without another word.  He knew he was in an artsy part of town – and the woman was clearly involved in art, since she was speaking about curating something – but Nate still found it a bit odd that she didn’t recognize him.  Most people did, even if they were polite about it and pretended not to, or only showed they knew who he was at the end of the conversation by calling him by his name or Mr. MacKinnon.  But she didn’t do any of that.  She denied knowing him, didn’t recognize him, had no ideas who he was.
But he was determined to remember where he knew her.

“No way in hell am I going skiing. What if I break my leg or something? Who’s going to explain that to Bedsy?”
“Nathan, there’s this thing called fun. You should try it sometime.” EJ chirps back, clapping a hand on Nate’s shoulder as the Canadian rolls his eyes.
“Just don’t break your leg, Nate. Simple as that. We’re doing this in the spirit of team bonding! It’s a team holiday trip.” Gabe says in response with a genuine smile on his perfect face.
“Yay! Team bonding!” Newy exclaims, a little over the top which makes several of them laugh including Cale.
“Can we get hot chocolate after?” JT chimes in, voice serious but hopeful like that’s the only thing that can convince him to get on the slope.
“Sure. Hot chocolate after. Now let’s go!”
Nate shuffles forward, grumbling to himself and the sight makes Cale chuckle. He’s not the biggest fan of skiing either, but he always enjoys any time he can spend with the guys. No matter what activity it includes.
This time, it just happens to be skiing at a resort in Vail. Gabe decided a team retreat would be a fun idea leading up to the holidays and you can’t say no to the captain.
So here Cale is, awkwardly standing in the lobby dressed in his ski gear and surrounded by his teammates who all have mixed reactions to what’s about to happen.
He’s just about to ask Nate if he even knows how to ski, because if not they might actually have to think up a reason to give Bedsy just in case, when a flash of bright red hair catches his eye near the entrance of the lodge.
At first, Cale thinks it’s the resident ginger of the team. But JT is ahead of him, being jostled around by Newy and Bo, so it can’t be him. Why does he care anyway?
But then, as he looks back to hopefully get another glimpse, he realizes why he cares. He realizes why the splash of red captured his attention in the first place. Because it was that exact red hair he used to see every day, run his fingers through and adored so much. Cale is frozen in place, gaze locked on the girl he still loves with his entire being. The one who got away.
Before he can think or see the confused look on Nate’s face, he’s leaving the group behind and trudging across the lobby towards the familiar red hair. He’s nervous, really nervous, but he hasn’t seen her in a few years now. And if he misses this opportunity, he wouldn’t ever forgive himself.
“Evelyn.” Cale doesn’t even recognize his own voice. He gently taps her on the shoulder and all the wind is knocked out of his lungs. Maybe it’s the time apart or Cale’s simply forgotten how gorgeous she is, but when she looks at him, he swears she is the most beautiful person he’s ever seen.
“Cale?” She asks in shock, brows furrowing for a moment before a beaming smile blossoms across her lips. “Cale! Ohmygosh, how are you? It’s been so long.” Evelyn gives him a quick hug and suddenly, Cale is thinking about how he’s going to have to thank Landy for this silly idea.
“It’s nice to see you.”
“You too! I didn’t know you skied. A new hobby?” Evelyn teases. It’s like nothing ever happened, no time has passed. But Cale knows that’s too good to be true.
“No, no. A team bonding trip.” Cale explains, nodding towards the door where the team left moments ago. “I’m not very good anyway.” He can feel his cheeks heating up with blush, the familiar pink becoming apparent in mere seconds.
“Oh, please. I’ve seen you skate and know you’ve got balance and coordination like no one else.”
“Uh, well, thanks.” He murmurs shyly, rubbing the back of his neck. Cale knows the inevitable end of conversation is coming. Where she tells him how great it’s been to see him and she disappears from his life again. His mind is whirring to find something to say just to keep her talking, to keep her in front of him.
He isn’t quick enough.
“It’s been nice seeing you, Cale. And I’d love to catch up more, but I have to go. Have fun on the slopes and tell everyone hi for me!” Evelyn says cheerfully, giving him the smile that he still loves before he gives his own goodbye and she’s gone.
“Dude, who’s the redhead?” Nate’s voice snaps Cale back to the present. Of course, Nate stayed behind and saw all of that. “And why do you look like you’ve seen a ghost? You’re not gonna get a girl looking that terrified.”
“Geez, thanks.” Cale mutters, turning to face Nate who’s wearing a look of concern mixed with curiosity.
“Who’s the redhead?” He asks again. Nate is nothing but relentless, Cale should know this by now, and he’s going to have to explain in order for the topic to be dropped.
“Her name is Evelyn. We dated for awhile back when I was at UMass and we tried to keep it going long distance when I came here, but it didn’t work out.”
“But you’re still in love with her.” It’s not a question, but a statement.
Damn it. Why couldn’t EJ have seen the whole interaction? He would’ve just teased Cale about having a thing for gingers. Or even Gabe who would’ve given him some kind of pep talk. But no, Nate had to be the witness and he’s so observant that nothing can be hidden from him.
“Yeah, I’m still in love with her.” Cale admits, voice full of defeat and longing.
“Then why didn’t you just make your move?” The question falls from Nate’s lips with a tone of incredulously and Cale sighs. There’s so much more than them just being exes.
“She just got out of a long term relationship. They were together for a year and half or something like that. Mom told me. I can’t just jump in there like she’s okay and the last thing I want is to be a rebound.”
But Cale can’t help but wonder what exactly Evelyn is doing here. Last he heard, she had graduated from UMass and returned home to Calgary where she got her first big job and her own apartment. Plus, she had told Cale himself when they were trying to make long distance work that she couldn’t see herself living in Colorado. Yet she’s here.
Does she live here now? Or maybe she’s just visiting. That’s more realistic. But who would she be coming to see? She doesn’t know anyone in the entire state of Colorado besides him. At least that Cale knows of.
“Cale?” Nate’s voice is soft, but snaps the defenseman back to the present.
“Huh?”
“I think you should talk to her. You never know what could come of it. And you still love her! Doesn’t matter what happened in the past, I think she needs you more than you realize right now, especially coming out of a relationship like that.”
“Thanks, Gabe.” Cale says pointedly, giving Nate a look that’s supposed to be mean but he doubts it comes across the way he intends. Nate’s smile gives that away. “When did you become so wise and captain-like?”
“Just-” Nate starts, putting a hand on Cale’s shoulder shaking his head at the chirps before continuing. “Think about it. Okay?”
That’s easy, but Cale doesn’t say that out loud. All he’s going to be doing until he sees her again is thinking. Thinking about her.
Tumblr media
Cale gets answers to all but one question when he calls his mom the next day. He barely gets through saying hello before the news bursts out.
“Mom, you’ll never guess who I saw yesterday.”
“Who?” Laura asks with curiosity.
“Evelyn. Eve, like my Eve.” The nickname rolls off his tongue naturally. Cale’s the only one who ever got to call her Eve and saying it now feels so right. Like there’s still a chance she could be his Eve again. Not Evelyn like she is for everyone else. Eve.
“Oh, honey. Did you really?”
“Yeah, we’re on this mini team retreat right now, Gabe’s idea, and I saw her in the lobby before we went skiing.” He explains, taking a deep breath. “Did you know she would be in Colorado?”
It’s a loaded question, Cale knows that, but he has to know. He’s known Evelyn pretty much his whole life and even after they broke up, their families still stayed in touch. He just needed to know more about why he saw her in the last place he ever would’ve expected.
“Um, not exactly.”
“Mom!”
“I didn’t know, Cale! Her mom said that after the breakup, Eve decided she needed a fresh start and left Calgary. That’s the last I heard. But apparently she landed in Colorado if you saw her.”
Cale is silent for a moment, absorbing everything Laura just said. Nate’s words from the other day become clear again and he knows what he’s going to do next.
“I know it might be out of nowhere, but I think she could use a friend, Cale. She’s taking this really hard and I can’t imagine how scary it might be also being somewhere completely new too. If you see her again, ask if she wants to get a coffee or something simple. You know how she loves the wintertime and that might be tainted now with everything going on.” Laura says softly and Cale knows she’s right. In fact, that’s almost exactly what he’s thinking.
“Okay, you’re right. Thanks, Mom.” Cale replies before they exchange the usual love you’s and see you soon’s. He lets out a sigh of relief and leans back against the couch. It might not have been the answers he was looking for, but now he at least knows what he has to do.
And if there’s any chance of getting back together, even just the tiniest little sliver of hope, Cale has to know. But first and foremost, he has to be the friend that Eve needs more than ever.
Tumblr media
Not even a week into the new year, Cale finds himself back at the ski lodge where the team was during the holidays for Gabe’s grand idea. He has no idea if he’ll see Eve here again, like maybe the run-in was some twist of fate and only destined to happen once, but he has to try. As he’s running through all the options of what to say to her, Cale spots the familiar flash of red hair and his heart starts to race.
Now or never.
He walks up to the front desk in the lobby where Eve is talking to someone on the opposite side, her sweet smile on full display. Before Cale can even say anything, she senses someone next to her and turns to offer a kind look but then realizes who it is.
“Cale! How crazy is this?” Eve says, her voice full of happiness. She guides him away from the front desk, thanking the employee she was just talking to and that’s when Cale seemingly loses control of his tongue.
“Eve, hi. It’s really great to see you again.”
“You too. Do you come here often? I didn’t think you’d have a lot of time to take up skiing or anything else with how busy your schedule is with hockey.” She asks, her big brown eyes holding Cale’s gaze.
“I- uh, no, I don’t. I was hoping to see you again actually.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” Cale starts, unsure of how to phrase what he wants to say, but Eve is looking at him so fondly and he can’t put a single thought together. “Look, I heard about what happened and I’m really sorry things ended that way. You don’t deserve that and even after all this time, I still care about you. A lot. Plus, you’re new to Colorado so I wanted to let you know I’m here for you and would be happy to show you my favorite places around here or maybe do some of the things we used to do together to cheer you up. It’s up to you.” He trails off, hoping she doesn’t notice how nervous he is.
Eve doesn’t say anything for a moment and Cale worries he already messed this up. He’s ready to face the rejection and continue on with his life as if this never happened, until Eve’s smooth voice cuts through his thoughts.
“You’re just as sweet as you were at UMass. Nothing’s changed.” She whispers, her cheeks becoming a deep color of pink. Cale swears he’s never seen anyone so adorable. Her beaming smile is directed at Cale for the first time in years and he doesn’t want that to change. “I would love that. Whether it’s seeing your favorite places or doing what used to be our favorite things. Sounds perfect to me.”
“Yeah?” Cale asks, trying to mask any shock in his voice.
“Yeah. So when do we start?”
“What about right now?” He giggles as Eve nods with excitement. It feels a lot like the old days when they would spend any possible moment together, laughing and sharing kisses without a care in the world. That kind of happiness is one Cale wants back and hopes Eve feels the same way too.
“Okay, then let’s go, Makar. We’ve got quite a lot to catch up on.”
And just like that a new routine is born. Every waking moment the two of them have is spent together. They start with seeing Cale’s favorite places around Denver, spanning between the variety of tourist attractions and the little hidden gems of the city.
Slowly, but surely, Evelyn opens up about the breakup and it physically pains Cale to see her hurting over some stupid guy who just lost the best thing that would ever happen to him. He offers nothing but his support and kind words because despite the feelings he might have for her, he still cares about her more than anything.
An unspoken list of things they used to do together, especially during the winter time, is put together. Driving around to see the Christmas lights while drinking hot chocolate, making cinnamon rolls, playing crib, a spontaneous snowball fight and so much more. The more time spent together, the more it feels as if they’re back at UMass and completely in love.
Cale doesn’t push. If all he gets is Eve as a close friend, he’ll take it. She’s back in his life and he couldn’t ask for anything more.
But with each passing day and activity done together, Eve remembers exactly why she fell in love with Cale in the first place. And it’s more obvious than ever that her feelings for him never fully disappeared. Her heart seems to be healing because of him and although she can’t admit she wants to give them another try just yet, there is something she’s ready for that Cale hasn’t mentioned once since they saw each other again at the lodge.
“Hey Cale?” She asks softly, looking up at him across the table. The cafe isn’t that busy during this time of day and Eve learned quickly this place has the best breakfast so this morning her and Cale decided to grab a bite before he had to go to morning skate. This used to be a regular occurrence for them back in college. Getting up early, sharing breakfast together while giggling over everything and then going their separate ways until Cale was back from practice. Eve starts to feel a weird sense of deja vu, but pushes through.
“Hm?” Cale hums in response, taking a sip of his coffee before meeting her gaze. He looks so adorable in the early morning light that she can’t stand it. Cheeks rosy as always, wearing a warm knitted sweater and his hair is just the perfect kind of messy, sticking up in all different directions.
“How’s the team doing? Do you like playing here?” The questions tumble off her lips innocently, but shock Cale for a moment.
“You- sorry, you want to talk about hockey?” Cale shakes his head in disbelief, blue eyes searching Eve’s face for any sign of worrying emotions.
In the last few weeks, there hasn’t been a single mention of the sport Cale plays despite the two of them planning around his practice, game and travel schedule. Eve hasn’t addressed it yet because in the end, hockey is what took him away from her, it’s what broke their relationship when it couldn’t have been better. But now, realizing she’s falling in love with him again, Eve knows talking about hockey isn’t going to ruin anything.
In fact, now, she can’t wait to hear about Cale’s career here in Colorado.
“Yeah, I do. If this,” Eve gestures between the two of them, “is going to work, I can’t be scared of something that we had no control over in the past even if it’s the thing that separated us. Plus, it’s such a big part of your life so I want to know everything, Mr. Norris and Conn Smythe Trophy winner.”
Cale laughs, that beautiful smile overtaking his face and pure joy radiating off of him. “Well someone has been keeping up, huh?”
“Please, it’s hard not to when everyone back home couldn’t stop talking about you during the playoffs and then your day with the Cup…”
Without any hesitation, Cale jumps right into telling her about everything hockey related since he got to Denver. Joining the team during the playoffs, winning the Calder, all the fun and not so happy moments with the guys over the years, how he’s trained in the offseason and of course, the biggest moment of all, winning the Cup last season.
Cale’s in the middle of telling a funny story about Nate, one of thousands, when he catches a glimpse of the time on Eve’s phone. 9:15.
“Oh shit. Eve, I’ve got to go. Morning skate.” He says quickly, kissing her cheek and making sure the check is paid for. “I’m sorry, I totally lost track of time. You’ll hear the rest of the story later I promise.”
“It’s all good, Cale. Have fun at practice! I’ll see you later, okay?” Eve says, her voice soft and Cale feels his heart swell. “And thank you for telling me about hockey again. I’m so proud of everything you’ve accomplished.”
“Anytime, Eve. And thank you.” With that, he offers her the kindest smile before heading out to the rink.
Tumblr media
Cale is late. Well, not technically since morning skate doesn’t start until ten, but by his standards he’s late. He already missed the usual routine of getting ready with Nate and catching up with Devon. And the worse part is, he doesn’t have a single clue about how he’s going to explain this to the guys who will definitely be asking him what happened.
But Cale knows he isn’t good at lying and at the same time, there’s no way the team can know what he’s up to. Even if it’s making him way happier than usual.
Which of course, EJ notices right away as he’s hustling into the locker room.
“Look who decided to show up! Nice of you to join us, Caler.”
“Sorry,” Cale mumbles in response, heading right to his stall to get ready for practice. But he feels his cheeks heat up and knows it’s a dead giveaway.
“What took you so long? You’re usually here with this maniac way earlier than need be.” EJ pushes, gesturing to Nate for a moment before all his attention focuses on Cale. A beat of silence lasts too long and somehow EJ knows exactly what’s going on.
“It’s a girl, isn’t it?”
“EJ,” Nate warns, ready to step in since he knows Cale has been talking to Eve again, but everyone knows EJ is mostly all talk. The chances of him overstepping is slim to none. It’s just fun and games. Except Cale’s lack of response and rosier than usual cheeks say everything he doesn’t put into words.
“I just got coffee and breakfast with a friend. We’ve been catching up lately after not seeing each other for a while.” Not a lie. That’s partially true and he hopes it’s enough to convince the team to lose interest.
“With a girl!” EJ says with a laugh, clapping him on the shoulder. “They grow up so fast, don’t they?”
And just like that, everyone moves on. Almost everyone. While the rest of the team filters out of the locker room to hit the ice, Nate gently taps Cale with his stick and gives him that same knowing look that he did a few weeks ago.
“How’s it going? With… ya know?”
Cale kind of wishes the floor will swallow him, but he knows Nate is being nice. He’s just not used to talking about his love life with any of the guys because there hasn’t been much of a love life to talk about.
“Really well actually. Nothing’s happened and neither of us are pushing, but it’s been great just spending time together again. I miss that, you know? It’s great to have her back.” Cale explains, cheeks becoming pink with blush as he talks. Nate offers a genuine smile in response and bumps his shoulder.
“That’s good. You deserve her. So I’m rooting for you.”
“Thanks, Nate. Means a lot.” He shrugs softly, trying not to let his thoughts wander.
“Just an idea though, maybe see if she wants to come to a game. She might like seeing you play.” Nate says out of nowhere and Cale just nods, unable to think of a proper response. They walk out to the rink together and the moment Cale takes the ice, all his worries fall away.
But beneath it all, Cale can’t help but think about how Eve has just started asking about hockey again. And he’d be lying if the idea of her in his jersey, cheering him on in the stands and waiting to greet him afterwards didn’t make his heart race.
Tumblr media
This is crazy and Evelyn knows it. She hasn’t seen Cale play since college when she would sit with her friends and the other girlfriends in a much smaller rink. He might not like her being at a game even if that sounds far fetched. Yet, here she is right against the glass on the Avs side of the ice at Ball Arena.
The sign she’s clutching in her hands is another reminder of how insane this whole idea is. Although it will help her blend in among the other fans who have brought their own homemade signs as well. But it’s too late to back out now, and if there’s one thing Eve is sure of, it’s how she feels about Cale.
So she waits at the glass in anticipation of seeing the team skate out for warmups. The same giddiness that used to run through her veins when she attended the games on campus returns and realizes she’s missed this feeling without even knowing it. Sure, she’s watched the Avs games at home from the comfort of her couch, but this is a whole different experience that she is happy to have back.
The only person that knows she’s here right now is Nate. He's the only one who knows more than he should about her and Cale, which she didn’t think was ideal until she came up with this bright idea. Nate only encouraged her and even helped organize all the details to ensure everything about the surprise goes according to plan.
That also means he’s the only one who won’t have an outrageous reaction to her sign.
Eve snaps out of her thoughts as the lights begin to come up, illuminating the ice in the usual brightness that she has grown accustomed to. Her eyes focus on the tunnel next to the bench while pressing the sign against the glass. She has no idea if Cale will even see it, but everything in her is hoping he does and if not, one of his teammates points it out to him. He’s followed in Nate’s footsteps of being zeroed in during warmups and the fan interaction falls to the wayside in terms of importance.
Tonight will be different.
The team skates out onto the ice and cheers erupt from the crowd. An instant smile spreads across Eve’s lips when the familiar number eight steps onto the rink, immediately skating around effortlessly. As the guys settle into their usual warm up routines, Eve keeps an eye on Cale as if she could look anywhere else. Nate skates by and taps his stick against the glass, a beaming grin of his on display.
“He’s going to flip out.” Nate says, shaking his head and tapping a fist bump against the glass. Eve does the same with a giggle before he skates off to continue with drills.
It’s then when she spots JT and Mikko whispering to each other opposite of where she’s standing. Mikko’s got that mischievous look in his gaze as the ginger next to him can’t stop smiling. They’ve noticed the sign and Eve feels her nerves spike. It’s only a matter of time before they bring it to Cale’s attention.
“Hey, Caler! Why didn’t you tell us you finally invited your girl to a game?” JT calls out, giving Cale a playful bump to the shoulder.
“What?” Cale responds, looking up from his stick handling in confusion. “I didn’t invite anyone.”
“Well, that sure looks like Evelyn to me.”
“JT, don’t be- ohmygod. It is Evelyn.”
As an unbelievable amount of shock rolls through him, Cale can’t help but beam in her direction. He would recognize her fiery hair color and beautiful smile anywhere. She’s here at one of his games. She’s really here. He’s been waiting to have this back for so long. His eyes never move away from her even if he can hear JT and Mikko chuckling nearby.
Despite the happiness coursing through his veins as he slowly skates over, he tries to take in every detail of this moment. Eve is wearing what she called her “lucky jersey” from Cale’s time at UMass. Seeing her in the familiar maroon and silver jersey with the number 16 on the sleeves and a simple A on the chest makes Cae’s heart soar. His last name is on the back of that jersey and even better, she’s kept it after all this time even if it’s been years since she saw him play in Massachusetts. Cale doesn’t even have enough time to process all this when he realizes what is written on the sign she’s pressing against the glass.
“Even in burgundy and blue, my heart still belongs to you #8!”
All the air in his lungs is stolen away and everything else seems to fall away except for Eve. Not only is she here at a game, but her sign holds the confession that Cale has been wondering about since they ran into each other again.
She still loves him. He doesn’t know if her feelings ever went away or she fell in love again, but Cale can’t believe this is happening. After all this time, her heart still belongs to him just like his belongs to her.
“Hi,” he murmurs, pressing his hand against the glass when he comes face to face with Eve. She waves in response and the smile he gets in return rivals the sun. He pulls a puck over and flips it up onto his stick before tossing it over the glass. The moment she catches it, looking up with the most hopeful expression on her face, Cale takes the leap of faith. “I love you so much.”
Evelyn doesn’t think she can smile any bigger and swears her heart might explode with pure joy. This beautiful, sweet, amazing boy just said the three words she’s been waiting to hear since the day things ended. Cale loves her. Nothing else in the world matters more than that.
“I love you too.”
Cale taps the glass a few more times before ever so slowly skating away. His cheeks are pink with blush and the smile on his lips won’t be going away anytime soon. Eve gives him a wave, holding the puck to her chest where her heart is racing. With his mind on his girl, Cale returns to the usual warmups and knows this game is a must win more than it was before.
Because of Eve.
Tumblr media
The Avs win 4-1 and Eve doesn’t think she’s ever had this much fun before. All of Cale’s games at UMass were an experience, but that doesn’t even come close to how happy and excited she is when the buzzer sounds and the boys spill onto the ice for hugs and celebration.
Cale scored two goals and had a three point night which isn’t unusual for him, but he seemed to be playing on a whole other level. She is beyond proud of him for making it to the biggest stage in hockey and it’s no surprise that he’s thriving because he’s just that good.
“Evelyn, do you want to come with us to the tunnel? We wait for the guys down there after the game, if you want to see Cale.” Mel asks softly as the rest of the wives and girlfriends start filtering out of the suite.
“Oh, yeah, I’d love that. You’re sure it’s okay?” Eve responds, trying not to let any sign of nerves seep through her words.
“Of course it is. You’re part of the family now! We all see how that boy looks at you. It’s only a matter of time before he makes it official.” Mel chuckles sweetly, looping her arm through Eve’s to show her the way through the arena. Eve feels a tiny smile creep onto her lips after what her new friend just said, but the giddiness running through her about seeing Cale so soon takes precedence.
In no time, the small group is waiting outside the locker room and Eve can’t seem to stand still. Anxious thoughts run through her mind. How does she greet Cale after their mutual confessions during warmups? What if he didn’t mean it? Where do they go from here?
Before she can get lost in the whirlwind of anxiety and what if’s, the door to the locker room opens and the guys start to filter out. She says hi and congratulates each of them on the win, including Nate who tells her Cale will be out in a few before bumping her shoulder playfully and giving her a knowing look.
And just like Nate said, Cale is the next player to exit the locker room. His bright blue eyes are searching the area like he’s looking for someone specific. Then he sees her.
“Eve!” Cale calls out, hurrying over with open arms to scoop her up in the tightest embrace. She can’t help the giggles that escape when her feet leave the floor for a quick moment as Cale spins her around.
“Hey bubs, you played so well! I missed seeing you out there. And I already knew it, but you’re one hell of a player.” Eve says, cupping his rosy cheeks in her hands as they maintain eye contact. The close proximity is enough to make her dizzy, but the look on Cale’s face steals her breath away.
“Thank you. It was a big surprise seeing you out there, but I’m so happy you came.”
“Me too.”
Everyone is probably watching the moment as it’s happening, but Cale doesn’t care. His girl is in his arms and there’s a tension in the air that he needs to get rid of which means he has to ask the thing he’s been wondering since he saw her during warmups with the sign that changed everything.
“Also noticed your creative spark for making signs hasn’t disappeared either.” Cale hints, a smirk tugging at the corners of his lips.
“It wasn’t my best work, but I couldn’t wait to tell you something so important.” Eve giggles, hands sliding up to lock behind Cale’s neck. “And it’s still true.”
“I know,” Cale mumbles under his breath, just loud enough for her to hear. “And I meant what I said. I love you more than anything, Evelyn. I never stopped. Not when I left for Colorado or when we decided to end things. Not even when I found out you had moved on. It’s always been you and I don’t plan on letting what we have slip away again.”
Tears begin to spring up as Eve listens to Cale speak and she can’t even begin to find words to properly express her emotions. Instead, she closes the space between them with a long awaited kiss that’s soft and gentle, but full of love. Cale pulls her impossibly closer and feels her smile against his lips. Time seems to stop and neither of them can believe how lucky they are.
“You’re it for me, Cale. I love you so much. Even if it’s a thousand miles away from where we started, I want this. I want you. There’s never been anything I’ve been more sure of in my life.” Eve says quietly, pressing her forehead against his for a brief moment before the team, who has been watching the whole moment, erupts in cheers. “Ohmygod.” She whispers, hiding her face in Cale’s chest.
“Finally!” EJ yells, shaking some of the guys in excitement.
“You might want to give Gabe a really big thank you for that stupid team bonding trip. None of this would’ve even happened if we weren’t dragged there.” Nate laughs, taking in both Cale and Eve who are glowing with nothing but pure happiness.
And years down the line, if Gabe gets the first invite to their wedding at that very same ski lodge, no one has to know.

Can I get an Erik Johnson with the prompts "Would you like to stay?" and "Because I fell for you, isn't it obvious." please.
900 CLUB
happy birthday to my fav horse loving king. i hope landy gives you a big smooch.
16. "would you like to stay?" 36. "because i fell for you, isn't it obvious?" (from this prompt list, fluff)
you had completely forgotten erik was coming over until he knocked on your door, "what're you doing here?" you asked, furrowing your brows together.
he raised a brow, "we were supposed to get lunch today." he checked his phone to make sure it was the right day.
"that was today?" you smacked a hand to your forehead as it all came to you, "crap, i'm sorry. i forgot."
"it's all good." he shrugged, shoving his hands into his pockets.
"i can't leave, i have a meeting in like 20 minutes, on zoom, but would you like to stay?"
"are you sure? i mean, we can do this another time."
"no, the meeting shouldn't take too long, so you can stay, then we can get some food after." you suggested.
"all right." he nodded, and you smiled, moving aside so he could enter. he walked in and walked straight into your kitchen to grab a drink.
you took your seat back at your table and waited for your meeting to start. erik fiddled around with his phone while he waited for you. you finally shut your computer about 45 minutes later and gave him a smile.
"so, what're you thinking?"
"whatever you want is fine."
"fine, just don't get mad when i pick something that you don't like." you grabbed your keys and headed for the door, erik following after you.
as it turned out, you picked a restaurant that he wasn't too fond of, "here? really?"
"you said you were fine with whatever, and i want a chicken sandwich."
"fine." he groaned, getting out of the door and walking into the restaurant like a whiny toddler.
yu ordered your food and talked and caught up, "so, you coming to the game on tuesday?"
"i don't know. got some errands i need to run, so we'll see."
"let me know,"
"aye-eye, captain." you saluted him with a smile.
a few days later, you were running your errands, all of which were a surprise for erik. he was set to play a big milestone game, so you were planning a little celebration after.
everyone but erik was aware of the party, so they were all in on the surprise. the little celebration was set to happen at the family suite. you got streamers, a banner, huge cutouts of erik's rookie headshot, and of course, shirts with a funny photo you had of him drunk.
you drove around, handing out the shirts so all the guys and girls had the shirts. and you made sure to send him a text that read "congrats on 900, king!" and a bunch of heart emojis and a couple others that he would understand.
you watched the game from the family suite, rocking your drunk erik shirt. he had yet to see your shirt, but he knew you were there. after the game, everyone made it up to the suite, the only person you were waiting for was erik.
"wow, this is really good." landy complimented as he finally got a chance to greet you.
"thank you. do you think it's too much?"
"i think it's perfect," he reassured.
a security guard led him up to the suite, and when he got there, he was greeted by everyone shouting "congrats!"
he nearly jumped out of his skin, but let out a laugh and covered his mouth in shock as he took in all the decorations, "wow, thank you." he started hugging people as he looked around.
he finally noticed the shirts, and sighed, "i know who did this." his eyes danced around the room before they landed on you, "you."
"surprise." you shrugged.
"we agreed that this picture would never see the light of day."
"well, you talked and i listened." you corrected.
he groaned, "you're crazy." he pulled you in for a hug.
the party was in full effect after that. drinks were flowing, music was blasting, and erik was having a lot of fun, "you know, you guys didn't have to do this. i would've been fine with like, a cake, or something."
"yeah, we know that, which is why we didn't plan this." gabe responded.
"then who did?"
"who else, dude?" mikko asked, nodding his head in your direction where you were talking with a couple of the girls.
"y/n did this?"
"of course she did." erik was too shocked to say anything, so nathan shoved him in your direction. you looked over when you saw him making his way over to you and smiled.
"you having fun, mr. 900?"
"tons." he nodded, "can i talk to you for a second?"
"sure." you set your drink down and followed him into the hallway, "so, what's up?"
"you did this? the party and the shirts. and the banners and the cutouts of my head?"
"well, yeah. i knew you wouldn't say you wanted a party, so i decided to do it anyway," you answered.
"why?"
"what? do you not like it?" you felt the panic bubble forming in your stomach.
"no, no, i love it." he reassured, "it's just, why? you didn't have to do anything. a cake would have been fine."
"i know, but i wanted to do something special." you shrugged, looking down at your feet.
"why?" he repeated.
"because i fell for you, isn't it obvious?" you finally blurted out. you watched erik's face change about 20 times, and that worried you because he didn't say a thing, "erik?" you asked after about a minute of him just staring at you like a fish.
"you... like me?"
"like? love? however you want to prhase it."
"why didn't you say anything?"
"because i didn't want to ruin anything."
"you didn't want to ruin anything? i didn't want to ruin anything.''
"what do you mean?"
"like? love? i feel it all for you, silly." now it was your turn to gape at him like a fish.
"are you serious?"
"if anyone else had printed me drunk on a shirt, we'd have a problem."
you let out a breathy chuckle, "we're really stupid, aren't we?"
"just a little." he nodded. you loped your arms around his neck and pulled him down to meet your lips.
"if we had just admitted a little earlier, we could've been doing this instead of pretending to enjoy those crappy chicken sandwiches."
"hey! i actually like them!" you hit him in the chest.
"no, you don't."
you pouted, "...the chicken is a little dry."
"that's what i've been trying to tell you!"
taylor's 2.5k celly!
this is a celly blurb, but it was the perfect time to write ot. so, happy birthday to my favorite guy ever (he shares this spot with about 10000+ other guys lol). you are so slay king *muah*

I have thots….
Mile high club
Timo is an obvi choice but may I present to you Barzy? Or MILES
And obvi if we’re talking OC’s for sure lio and con
Mmkay back to my bevies
😘🍻
I am having tequila high noons tonight… so it’s gonna be lit 🔥
The way you are making me choose about who to write this about.. what a predicament.
But… my Woody girls are thirsty…. So let’s go with Miles MF Wood.
Tumblr media
“Surprise!!!!” Miles yells as your sneakers hit the tarmac. The last fifteen minutes have been very confusing to you. You had arrived at the airport in Boston, ready for your new adventure together in Colorado. But everything took an unexpected turn when the car continued onto the tarmac of the airport. You were shuttled to a specific hanger that holds a private security area and the nicest airport lounge you have ever seen.
“We are flying private.” He wiggles his thick eyebrows at you.
“Baby, what…. This is… so…”
“Free!” He grins. “Paid for by our new team as a welcome to the Mile High City.” His arms stretch out to the side. The gap in his teeth is extra pronounced with his excitement.
“Oh my god. I’m finally dating a real superstar.” You snort as you poke his stomach. His smile falls off.
“Hey.”
“Sorry, you tee’d it up for me.”
You both get settled on the plane quickly taking off before you even register what is happening. Your take off drink of choices was mimosas due to the late morning time.
“Cheers to our next adventure.” Miles clinks your glasses together. You take a sip, then his tongue chases the bubbles in your mouth, stretching out his seatbelt to maximum length.
“Babe.” You laugh at his aggressive kissing. Your plane is just hitting ten thousand feet and you feel a bit anxious as you always do during the first part of any flight. Something about being in a smaller plane isn’t very comforting to you.
“We are fucking before this plane ride is over.” Your boyfriend’s words snap you out of your anxious thoughts.
“What?”
“There is no way you’re getting off this plane without me being inside of you.”
“Babe!” You smack his huge thigh, glancing back at the flight attendant gathering together your cheese board appetizer. “No way.” You look at the lack of door between the cabin and the pilots as well as the openness of everything. Plus, you’re way too anxious of a flyer. “It would be so obvious.”
“I do not care.”
“Well, you’re not the only one participating.”
“You owe me. A bet is a bet.” Your face goes white. Shit. He is not actually making you pay up for your drunken bet that he wouldn’t go three years without getting replacement teeth. “You’re too vain.” You had giggled at him. Miles never “got around” to getting new teeth… and you didn’t really think anything of it because you love him and he’s so cute and sexy either way that whatever. Who needs teeth?
Damn, when did teeth get so negotiable to you.
Only Miles Wood could do that to you. And only he could make you unbuckle your seatbelt to straddle his lap. His prize for winning the bet was naming a time and place of his choice for you two to have sex. Apparently, this is the time and place.
He reaches around your body to grab the inflight blanket provided. He folds it around your back. You have a full view of the flight attendant who has the cheese board in her hands, ready to walk it out to you. You make eye contact with her. You purse your lips. She immediately knows and turns around, closing the curtains.
“Oh my god. She closed the curtains.” You put your forehead on Miles’ shoulder in shame.
“Baby, they definitely deal with this all the time. With way grosser people than us. Let’s give them a show.”
“Miles, you fucker.” You whine as you reach for his belt. You cannot believe you are doing this. He is rigid beneath your fingers already panting at what you’re about to do. His blue eyes are wild with excitement as he grins at you. You take him out of his pants, unable to make eye contact with him as you stroke along his taut skin. He chuckles.
“Baby, we don’t have to.” Him giving you the out makes you want it so much more. Your eyes meet his and he grins wider. “Yesssss, I knew you wanted to.”
“I see why you told me to wear the dress.” You had been debating between leggings and a dress, but he insisted on this.
“I’ve had this planned since I found out we were flying private.” He leans forward, sucking along your collarbone. “Fuck that feels good.” He moans as your fingers wrap tighter around him, stroking his length. “Oh.” He moans.
“Okay you need to be quiet.” You say pointedly. He’s the loud one in this relationship.
With his help, you shift your panties to the side. Miles leans his chair back, then guides your hips as you put him at your entrance. Your head falls back as you slide all the way down onto him. His thickness is intoxicating while stretching you to capacity. You roll your head forward again, watching the way his eyes flicker with waves of desire. His lips are pursed to keep his groans to himself.
Miles bucks into you. It’s a little awkward with not being able to move, but you find your rhythm quickly, wanting release.
“Ohhhmygod.” Miles’ head falls forward to your breasts, shoving between them as you squeeze his face between the mounds. “Baby.” He moans into your right breast, leaving a kiss there afterwards.
Neither of you last long. It feels too good and so public and honestly, you needed this to relax and enjoy the rest of the flight. You rut into him with slow movements to bring you both down gently. Miles comes out from your breasts, puckering his lips for a kiss.
“I’m glad this is how we started our life in Colorado.”
“Me too.” You admit, brushing his curls off his forehead.

a/n: i actually really love writing for EJ. so here’s some more of him! sort of a prequel to this blurb from my last birthday celebration. hope you all love sunshine/golden retriever EJ.  word count: 1.5k warnings: dirty talk + implied smut (basically the proposition of the act but not the act itself). feminine reader this time!
I won’t deny I’ve got in my mind now all the things I would do.
“Looking good, sweetheart.”
You hear EJ before you see him and your shoulders heave in a sigh as you cast an exasperated glance in Nate’s direction. You knew he was going to be here; it was Colorado’s charity brunch after all so of course the entire team was in attendance. But still, that didn’t mean that you had to interact with EJ.
At least, not right now.
So, you sigh again before spinning around in your chair, your eyes darting up to his face. And to your unfortunate surprise, he looked hot; in his casual suit, the top few buttons tastefully undone, his blonde hair artfully ruffled.
“Thank you, EJ,” you say, your voice dry, not at all willing to let him or anyone else sitting at your table know how much this man managed to fluster you.
You think that your forced politeness would be the end of it as you turn back to continue the conversation that you were having with Nate, your friend who was responsible for bringing you here. But you should’ve known that Erik wasn’t going to give up that easily and your body bristles when you feel him settle into the chair next to you, his voice sounding again.
“Woah, being nice to me? That’s a surprise,” he laughs. You roll your eyes in Nate’s direction, an action that was met with a scolding glance from your best friend, silently telling you to behave. Which you always do. EJ just never made it easy for you.
You turn back towards Erik, finally giving him your full attention and plaster on a smile before responding.
“We’re at a charity event. I gotta be on my best behavior.”
EJ doesn’t give you a verbal response at first, just shoots you that ridiculously goofy grin. The two of you back off each other for a moment, turning your attention to the delicious food in front of your and the conversation surrounding you. However, the peace only lasts a minute until you feel Erik lean over towards you, his voice quiet.
“I prefer you on your worst behavior.”
The way his voice drips with desire and passion makes you falter, almost dropping your fork. The glare you send in his direction does not discourage him. In fact, judging by that stupid smirk that remains on his face, it seems as if he actually enjoys it.
Which, after spending a few too many nights tangled in his sheets and in his arms, you know that was the truth.
Yes, you were sleeping with Erik. What started as an accident turned into a full-blown habit that you couldn’t seem to stop. Somehow, this obnoxious golden retriever of a man snuck his way into your life and it was now hard to shake him off.
Although, the two of you did promise that you would keep your ‘status’ quiet in front of your friends and the rest of the team. But here was EJ, flirting with you at a team sponsored event.
You swear you could throttle him.
In an attempt to settle your skipping heartbeat and ground yourself to the present moment, you turn your head, cracking your neck as you brush off his words, not wanting to encourage him anymore. Erik doesn’t take the hint and it isn’t long until you feel a strong hand land on your thigh, the warmth of his palm seeping into your skin through the fabric of your dress.
“I love how this dress looks on you,” Erik whispers again, his fingers caressing the silk. “I think I’d like it better if it was on my bedroom floor.”
You once again stiffen in your chair and glance around, eyes jumping between the others sitting at your table. Thankfully, they are distracted by their own conversations that no one has seemed to notice how close Erik has gotten to you. You are grateful for their ignorance, not only for the proximity of your bodies but also the undeniable rise that EJ’s words pull out of you.
“I wish I woke up with you in my arms this morning. We could’ve snuck in a quick fuck before we had to come here,” Erik continues, his hand moving higher on your thigh, calloused fingers dragging the soft material of your dress up.
“Or maybe we would’ve made up an excuse not to come so I could have spent all morning with my head between your thighs. You taste sweeter than anything on this table.”
There is no stopping the pounding of your heart and the rush of heat that pools as Erik’s hand slips underneath your skirt, his warm hands finally coming into contact with the soft skin of your inner thighs, lightly gripping the flesh as his hand continues to sneak closer to your aching core.
“Do you like the sound of that?” he questions, no doubt in response to the heat he can feel radiating from your center. “What if I just took you here, in front of all our friends? Let them know how weak you get for me. How loud you moan for me.”
You force yourself to suppress the full body shudder that runs through your body as Erik’s fingers just barely caress the edge of your underwear. Your thighs instinctively widen to give him more access and you hear the small chuckle that rumbles from him – a sound that you immediately want to smack out of him. He shouldn’t get the satisfaction of pulling this reaction from you.
Two can play at this game.
“You know I love hearing you,” EJ states, his fingers moving again to brush against the front of your core. “But you think you can stay silent for me now?”
Without thinking, one of your hands fly down to grip his wrist, halting his movements and lightly pushing him away from you, his hand retreating to rest on your upper thigh. You look over to him and when your eyes connect to his, you can see the question in his eyes and a twinge of guilt. The worry that he might have taken things too far is painted in his expression but you are quick to silence those fears with a mischievous grin of your own.
There was no hesitation from you when your other hand falls from the tabletop to land on his thigh, squeezing the strong muscle there and your smirk just widens when you hear the small gasp on EJ’s lips.
“Can you?” you ask, hand trailing up, following a very similar path as the one that Erik traced up your own thigh. “Don’t lie to me EJ. You try to act all suave and smooth but really, you just want me to drop to my knees in front of you.”
You can feel his grip on your own thigh tighten as your hand creeps up over the soft material of his dress pants. It isn’t long until your fingertips reach out to barely trace the side of his cock, half hard from both his teasing and yours.
“Does that turn you on baby? The idea of me looking up at you from the pretty tiled floor. You know it would be one way to keep me quiet. But if we were in that position, I don’t think I’d be the one who would struggle staying silent.”
Your words are almost instantly proven as you get bolder and place your hand over his bulge, softly palming him underneath the tablecloth and you smirk as you watch Erik disguise a moan as a cough, reaching out to take a drink of his water. You giggle, your own hand withdrawing to mirror his, resting heavy on the top of his upper thigh.
“Shall we see? Make it a contest? See which one of us can keep their composure at this beautiful charity event while we do the most sinful things in the bathroom?”
The proposal lingers there for a moment before the words truly register with EJ, his head whipping to face you and you can’t stop the genuine laugh that falls from your lips at the eagerness shining in his eyes.
“Are you serious?”
“Only if you are.”
You watch as Erik’s eyes register the sincerity in your words and those beautiful grey irises dart from your own down to your lips and back again.
“God, I really want to kiss you right now,” he whispers and you can’t stop your heart from softening at his gentle declaration. It is short-live though as the smile on your face twists again, returning to that playful smirk.
“Men’s room. 10 minutes. Then you can kiss me all you want.”
EJ’s only response is another firm squeeze on your thigh before he is practically bounding out of his seat and you once again have to swallow a giggle at his obvious excitement. Your eyes follow his trek to the back hallway where the bathrooms were located.
You shake your head slightly, taking another drink and reorienting yourself to your surroundings. You make small talk with some of the others at the table before you are politely excusing yourself, your own desire rushing through your body as you follow Erik’s path.
This was a shit idea.
Didn’t stop you from wanting it though.

Birthday with Stanley || Cale Makar
Tumblr media
Authors Note: It’s @calenorrismakar‘s birthday so this is just a little something thrown together based on today’s Cup day celebrations. I really hope you enjoy it.
Warnings: none  // Word Count: 1,002
~~~~
Today was Cale’s day. And if you were anyone else you might be upset that you were sharing your birthday with Cale’s big day. But you weren’t and honestly you were just as excited as your boyfriend for his Cup day if not more so.
So when you woke up to a bouquet of your favorite flowers on the nightstand beside you, you were a little surprised all the same. Even if you shouldn’t have been. By the time you got dressed and headed downstairs, Cale was loading the Cup up with pancakes for breakfast and you couldn’t help but chuckle to yourself at how proud he looked.
Watching as he took the obligatory pictures, you attempted to stay in the background only to be spotted by Taylor who immediately shouted that the birthday girl was awake. Cale’s grin went wide and he stopped to pull you over, kissing you softly before insisting on feeding you breakfast from the Cup. Tucked under his arm, you traded bites, enjoying a few minutes of relative quiet amidst a crazy day.
With Cale scheduled to be at the arena for a meet and greet you were expecting to be back at the house helping Laura prepare for the party later that day. Instead, after carefully washing the cup, Cale had tucked an envelope into your hand insisting that you open it. Inside was the drawing of the tattoo you had been wanting to get for a while with an appointment card for an artist in Calgary scheduled for this morning.
“Cale…” You murmured, your voice confused and chastising. “I’m helping your mom with the party…”
His eyes crinkled and he quickly shook his head.
“It’s your birthday. Mom has plenty of help. Now scoot or you’re going to be late. It’s all taken care of.” He insisted, pausing to kiss you again before pushing you out the door.
****
You were just leaving the tattoo parlour hours later, skin freshly inked, when your phone buzzed with a text from your boyfriend’s brother.
Taylor: Meet us at the circle K near the house.
Replying back with question marks, you bickered with Taylor for a few minutes before getting back into Cale’s car and heading to the gas station Taylor had indicated. When you arrived, you pulled into a spot next to the car you recognized as the Makar’s and as you climbed out, so did everyone in that vehicle.
“What are we doing?” You asked, only to hear a casual ‘slurpee’ from your boyfriend who was grinning widely. With a laugh spilling out, you shook your head and followed as everyone headed inside for Cale to have his slurpee out of the Stanley Cup. It was something that was just so Cale you were surprised you hadn’t thought of it earlier yourself. And it was definitely something that all of you were going to remember forever.
****
Gary rode with you on the way to the next stop of the day, the senior home where Cale’s grandmother lives. As Cale’s only living grandparent you knew how important it was for him to share that with her as well as his dad.
It was nothing fancy, though there were balloons and confetti, but watching Cale with his grandma you fell a little deeper in love with him no matter how often you told yourself that that wasn’t possible.
****
By the time you all returned back to the Makar’s house, family and friends had already started to arrive. Still, Cale handed the cup over to his dad to be washed before guiding you inside as you had commented on wanting to change. In his room, you stripped to change, sighing happily as Cale’s hands slipped over your bandaged skin murmuring that he couldn’t wait to see it. Assuring him that if he waited until tonight he could help you clean and care for it, you grabbed clean clothes from your bag. By the time you turned around, a wrapped present was sitting on the edge of the bed and you looked at Cale curiously.
“Open it.” He stated, fond annoyance in his voice. Murmuring again that this was his big day, you complied and tore the wrapping off the present to reveal a shoe box. Even as you opened the lid you already knew what was inside, the shoes that you’d been talking about wanting for at least the last month.
It still baffled you sometimes how Cale paid attention to the little things like this.
New kicks on your feet, you followed Cale downstairs to join the growing party, tucked against his side as he took center stage as the man of the hour. His family was amazing and even with Cale being pulled from person to person you never felt left out or like you weren’t naturally a part of all of this, instead, it felt like these had been your people forever too.
After an amazing dinner, you looked around for your boyfriend only to find that he was nowhere to be found. Before you could explore further, a hand came up to cover your eyes and before you could squeal or scream Cale’s voice was murmuring for you to relax. For approximately forty seconds he guided you across the yard before bringing you to a stop.
When you opened your eyes, everyone was standing around you and the cup was on the ground with freshly lit candles poking out of the cake contained in the cup. Cale’s cousin Mark kicked off a boisterous version of “Happy Birthday” which everyone joined into and you swallowed the lump in your throat at the fact that as much as this was Cale’s day he had refused to forget about your birthday.
Blowing out your candles, you couldn’t wish for anything more than this and after sharing a bite with Cale, you kissed him deeply, knowing the memories from today would linger just like Cale’s legacy would.
You really couldn’t have asked for a better day. Or a better man.
Pool Party | Cale Makar
summary: you and Cale host a pool party wc: 630 ps: this one is really bad tbh
Since the season was finally over, you and Cale had spent the majority of time relaxing and enjoying your time together. During the season you were constantly at work while Cale had games, practices, roadies, media days, and so on. The first few days of summer break were always together cuddling, sharing meals, watching movies, and lazing away.
You and Cale had just finished up breakfast, the two of you migrating into the living room and collapsing onto the couch together. You were scrolling through your phone, Cale’s head resting on your lap and his eyes fluttering slowly shut as you run your free hand through his hair.
“Hey,” Cale says and you move your phone to look at the rosy cheeked boy.
“Wanna host a pool party?”
“Today?” you ask and Cale shrugs.
“Why not? It’s supposed to be over 90 degrees outside and I’m already missing some of the guys,” he admits shyly and you can’t help but grin at his explanation.
“Okay.”
Cale and you spend the next half an hour inviting people over, calling, texting, and setting a time so you two could get the house in order before everyone showed up.
“Do we have time to run to the grocery store?” you ask, glancing over at Cale.
“With the way you drive? Absolutely,” he jokes and you shove him lightly.
The two of you head out into the warm weather to grab snacks, drinks, and anything else you might need to host others at your house for the day.
You’re in the middle of pouring a bag of chips into one of your sharing bowls when the bell rings.
“Got it,” Cale says, pecking your cheek before heading towards your front door.
“Cale!”
Your face brightens when you hear your best friend's voice and when it's followed by the sound of her kids yelling you can’t help the giggle that escapes your lips. You wash your hands and head to the foyer where Cale is in the middle of swinging your niece around in a hug.
“Aunt (y/n)!”
You’re tackled by her two kids, the two wrapping their arms around your legs and you jokingly fall to the ground opening your arms up to pull them towards you.
“Oh my gosh! You guys are so big now!” you exclaim and it sends the pair of siblings into a fit of laughter.
After getting your hugs in, you finally stand and make your way to your best friend and plant a kiss on her cheek as your greeting. The kids run into your house, following Cale into the living room. You catch up with your best friend as you walk and the kids are already incredibly excited about the pool party.
“Are other kids going to be here?” Your best friend asks nervously.
“Gabe and the family are coming too,” you tell her and she nods in relief.
The six of you finally head out to your backyard, the kids already jumping into the pool while you grab your best friend's stuff and put it to the side so it's safe. You two take a seat, continuing to chat while Cale wanders off to answer the door again.
For the next half hour, the two of you switch off, greeting people, replenishing food and drinks, pointing people to the bathroom and so on. As the day wears on, people come and go and you and Cale end up on the same lounge chair, his arms wrapped around you and your head resting on his chest.
“I think this was a success,” he murmurs in your ear and you smile tiredly.
“I think we should make this a regular thing.”
“Anything for you my love,” Cale responds, pecking your lips before returning to this previous conversation.
