#so my mom's wake thing was today and that was a lot. not in an emotional sense but in a im standing here talking for 3hrs #to ppl i dont kno or barely kno. ya kno? but it was good bc so many ppl showed up to talk abt her #so many people. my mom made a huge impact on the school system. so many ppl relied on her. she encouraged at least 2 ppl to get their #master. for one person to specilize in helping the dyslexic after her experience advocating for 3 dyslexic daughters. she wrote and was #awarded a 10000 dollar grant for special needs and intervention curriculum. which will affect so many lives. #everyone loved her. she's gonna get a track meet named after her and a scholarship created in her honor. #she was an amazing person and she affected a lot of lives and im glad she was my mom. and she raised at least one jem in my littlest #sister who is so sweet and is a great teacher. god but there was some weird stuff too. were pretty sure her old boss was in love with her. #and there were some weird comments abt her being a strong woman or this woman doing so much and its like hm y do i detect a note of sexism #y not say she was an amazing person? y the surprise? weird comments about how pretty i looked. which yes i looked great lol. my funeral fit #was cute. we did bright colors bc it was a celebration not a dower event. and im sure it was ment well but it was a lil weird. and then #everyone was telling my grandma what a great job she did raising my mom and like god fuck off she didn't do jack. my mom was great despite #her terrible mother. ugh. but altogether it was good that everyone was able to express their love for her. it was def a day that was for #them mostly. i mean partly for us but mostly for them. none of us even cried. ay but we have 2 more parties in her honor #bc everyone loved her so much we have to do one in her hometown too. plus a personal friends get together. ugh. im so tired #i wish i wasnt the most awkward. eye contact avoidant person in the room but like ya kno. what can ya do? #unrelated

my struggle w/ my series so far

now dont get me wrong im very passionate abt this little passion project ive been brewing for abt two years now (or should i say like almost TEN bc ive been wanting to make a magical girl type project for a WHILE. i quite literally didnt get a concept down until recently) but oh my god. i never figured character designing would be this hard ESPECIALLY since ive mostly drawn magical girls for??? YEARS???

so ive recently redone her design to change a couple of things ive grown to be super unhappy with

this bitch. i call her amber. mainly cus she had orange hair. but NOW i dont like the orange hair so im changing it. to what? idk. anyways

ive been trying to design her for the past TWO YEARS. i figured that since shes the main character of the project shed be easy right? NOPE.

soooo i decided to mess with hair despite the orange hair being her signature look, but accoridng to the audience the orange hair was unpopular. i ran a poll to decide what hair she should have instead with these as the options

i came up with a bunch of different choices specifically with ranges of oranges and yellow to lime eyes, even a brown to shake it up. ultimately the brown hair with green dye won, which was surprising to me at least but it is cuter than the other colors tbh. the original one had brown eyes but i cooked a bit and gave her the yellow. suits her much better and leaves hints that shes like. not Just a human u kno?

some more rough drafts of her final design plus a color study. i intend on her being a nature fairy. flower powers. yeah yeah. her dress is a daffodil. soak in how cute that is. we love a nature related magical being with a flower themed fit. her little transparent sleeves representing leaves n shit. i rly like the disconnected look its cool but the commected look from the earlier draft is starting to speak to me now u kno? oh fuck its too late for that im doing the final draft

She finds it interesting to look into, but quite concerning. She uses facts about it to scare people for fun. Lilac - SNAKES!!!! Everything in her life would be for snakes, ever since she held a snake, she's loved them ever since!! She has a pet snake actually!! Core - They claim they don't like animals, but they REALLY like the horned lizard that shoots out blood. Setlet - Cats!! Especially if they're little kittens or fluffy. It's why they have a cat, named Fluffy! Bani - Hard one, I think she would like fish, more specifically the ones that have interesting backgrounds and/or colors, glow, etc! Heart - Deer, this is self-explanatory if you've seen the little fact I've put down. They like them because I planned for her to be one! She thinks the antlers are pretty cool. Theythem - Honestly, they love EVERY SINGLE animal. I think they just like them because of the trauma they endured while going into multiple games where animals die, get tortured, etc. Winter - They like wolves, no reason. Just wolves. Summer - She absolutely LOVES cats. Specially the Siamese cat. Aqua got her one, in their little hideout in the AU! Aqua - Aqua likes Siamese cats because Summer does. ( queer ) She also likes Conure birds. They remind Aqua of Summer. Real simp there. Scarlett - They don't really care about animals, but if they had to choose, they'd choose hedgehogs. Spikey! i made some sonic ocs!!! seperate from my sonicsona and the sonicsonas i made for my friends lmao

loosely based on the avatar characters i made in forces, theyre p early in development and dont have names yet, lil backstories for each character for those who care under the readmore, ill be uploading some more characters soon

Wolf boy is around vectors age im thinking? hes boys with the entire chaotix detective agency, isnt affiliated with them but is often the one they turn to when they need certain types of intel, probably a hacker type who knos his way around a computer and can help decrypt files and such. Looks big and scary but is a big softy and doesnt hide it at all(he gets ruffled p easily when ppl avoid him based off looks alone), great with kids (charmy loves when he visits, cream adores him, tails thinks hes p cool)

cat girl is a magician! prob around amy’s age (12/13), she would perform shows and such as her main gig, somehow got into contact with a chaos emerald and was unable to harness/handle the sheer energy/power of a single emerald and as such left her a bit...frazzled? she cant contain the chaos energy well at all and often times finds its entirely too much to handle(think green knuckles), the blast of energy from the emerald gave her a starburst shaped mark on her face and made her eyes change color, shes super untrained but her sheer power and unpredictability would prob give shadow a run for his money on first encounter

i can see why some people may dislike elysia at a surface level (she certainly needed to grow on me just as much as she grew on mei)… i mean, its p clear what kinda demographic mhy was targeting w her character design & her cold open at the end ch25, which can definitely rub some people the wrong way

but then u get to kno her thru the elysian realm story and she… actually has in character motivation for presenting herself in such a way. she clearly wants to be loved by everyone, and her cheeky persona allows her to share the boundless love she has for everyone & everything around her w/o being all that disruptive (she rly is rather considerate, all things considered). the constant flirting can definitely get on some peoples nerves, but if you pay a little attention, u can eventually see a difference between just small-talk flirting (like w kevin, which mostly amounts to ‘i wish u sweet dreams of me’ ;P), and the actual genuine interest she shows in mei , and her feelings, and her life (…and yes, her horns).

i think the moment that finally endeared her to me was her strutting around the realm w a megaphone telling anyone that will listen that she finally got to touch the horns! bc heres a girl that knows what she wants & goes for it, and just has to share her joy w the world! and if thats not sickeningly cute & unbearably attractive at the same time, i dont kno what is.

so anyway, i forgot what started this, but enjoy my brief elysia character analysis in rebuttal to strawman nonexistent elysia haters (and yes, i did have fun w the color formatting)

Well here’s my two cents to add onto this: Agree there’s legitimate reasons you can dislike Elysia, just like there’s legitimate reasons to dislike certain types of people. Some find loud people endearing, some find them annoying, that’s just life.

I personally don’t think her expressing how attracted she is to Mei is an issue, especially since it’s used for comedy a lot and isn’t meant to be seen as serious. Some people thinks she’s crossing Mei’s boundaries though! And that’s okay! That’s their interpretation of the text! As long as they actually read the text to know what they’re talking about, of course, I’ve got zero issue with it.

(Badmouthing a character off first meeting vibes because you skip all their dialogue would just feels like bad faith. Yaknow? If you can’t bear to read em don’t talk about what you don’t wanna know~)

But yeah like. If someone’s reading “I really want to touch her horns” as “I want to touch her d—” that would be inappropriate, so I understand some people think it’s sexual harassment.

Personally I feel like it’s closer to “I really want to touch her hair” as if Mei had a mohawk. It’s fancy and looks fun to touch! The sexual dimension is there but it’s less from what Elysia is wanting to touch and more superposed with her being attracted to Mei. You can make hair touching feel sexual if you’re flirting with the person, but it’s not the same thing as fondling them? Something like that.

There’s also the question of consent, since Elysia always asks for permission first, but you could see her insistance as pressure. It comes down to what you believe Mei thinks and feels. What I see is that she can get exasperated or embarrassed by the PDA but not really angry, so she’s probably okay with it. Someone else might think she’s given up because Elysia can’t be tamed. Both are fine way to interpret the situation since they’re based off of facts.

The important point is that we have to be aware we’re all just interpreting the text. There can be multiple valid readings! And that’s good. Diversity of angles is interesting.

Problems mostly just arise when you start going “I can’t believe ANYONE would love this character who EATS BABIES”.

Issue being, the interpretation isn’t necessarily wrong, but you’re being mean to the people who are seeing things differently and attacking their character based off your view of the story, the hurt has crossed into the real world. That’s just a no-no.

the condesce originally WOULD have culled them however she basically figured out she could use them to their advantage if she played her cards right. how?? well while HIC can keep as many tabs on ppl who are outwardly against her as she wants with her subjugglators and such she doesnt have a good way of keeping track of, say secret resistances. while techincially she can just threaten lower castes, theyre too squishy and would likely get killed by middle classes or smth, and the middle classes (teal and jade mostly) have a very specific and imprtant purpose which involves serving the empire meaning she cant exactly go around threatening them either lest word get out. plus shed likely need a bunch from each caste. what to do!!!!

thus the rainbowbloods! if she could figure out a way to control them then shed have basically an entire caste of spies!!

but how would she control them??? shrimple!!

almost all of the specific parts of the body rainbowbloods are canonically sexually attractive barring nails. horns, teeth and hair have all been confirmed to be attractive in mindfangs journals and the entirety of equius' character confirms blood. it isnt far of a leap to say nails are given similar treatment tho nothign abt them hasnt been confirmed. id imagine this is bc the condesce herself carefully maintains these specific features.

why does this matter? bc it makes rainbowbloods heavily fetishized. the teal/jade train car portion of hiveswap confirms that fetishization is very much a thing!! and boy oh boy with this caste itll be taken to extremes!

and HIC knos this. so what shell do is offer offplanet rainbowbloods a job working as a spy. and OFC theyll accept. they had spent their entire childhood being fetishized and would spend their ADULTHOOD like that too if not for the incredibly high class job for HIC of all trolls!!! and its not like they care abt the other castes, they were basically just a sex object for them!!!!!! and if they reject oops looks like youre being made into a highbloods pet whoopsie daisies!!!!
