I started drawing this at half past 1 in the afternoon and it's now 8 o clock and I forgot to do the dishes. I'm not that good with colour schemes and expect the colours to change a bit, but I'm quite happy with these designs. This is the first drawing I've done of John that wasn't a pencil sketch in my notebook so I'm still figuring out a good colour scheme. I originally drew this to see what they all look like with their different heights: Alcelanda being the shortest at around 5", John and Lance being average height and Dylan being 6" something and his afro wouldn't fully it on the canvas without having to shrink everyone down to make it fit.

"Colors can actually invoke a lot of thoughts and impressions. Most people associate red with warmth, and passion, but also with danger or fear depending on the context. A lot of people view black as a masking color be it clothes to hide certain parts of yourself or the shadows in your nightmares, but you can also see it as a protective color as it doesn't reflect. Blue is usually related to the sea, the lighter tones with sunny mornings walking along the shore, darker tones of blue can relate to the deep cold unknown depth that's hidden from prying eyes......if I had to describe you a color..it would be green. Not necessarily because of the associations with it, wisdom, calmness, and hope. which do apply to you don't get me wrong, but green is my favorite color, and you're my favorite person. Simple as that. Now, care to read with me for a bit?

Shueisha color teasers dropped! thoughts on the pallettes?

Okay quick rundown of what I think!

I think Jodio and Dragona look the best, I’m glad they kept Jodio’s colours, and Dragona looks more or less what I expected!

Though I’m not in love with the orange outfit for dragona, I think green or purple would have looked way better! Paco is fine, though I think his hair should have been a dirty blonde.

And I’m so sorry Usagi enjoyers, he’s a lost cause, they made him tingle. They feared to let him slay, they debuffed him. It almost looks alright but then they made the hat neon blue,,, should of been at least red to at least compliment just a lil

I think everyone else’s colours are fine! Though kinda just standard, and I do love November rain, I won with him having blue!! (Looks like weather report which is super cool)

Tbh I can get use to these colours, EVEN though I’ll probably still use the colour palettes I’ve been using, not like Shueisha colours are canon, It’s disappointing they just used palettes from certain Araki paintings over trying to make their own decisions on palettes

Jodio is fine, seeing Araki used it multiple times so it feels like that is what Jodio is supposed to look like, but taking from a painting where the whole point is to be one certain colour scheme, where everyone matches (Araki does these types of paintings a lot) feels somewhat misguided and will make Dragona, Paco and Usagi blend together and while Jodio will stand out.

I feel like there should be more variety of colours amongst the group, similar to how Golden Winds cast are all defined by one colour. I felt like it was too soon to give them colours, but again maybe I’ll warm up to them,

Definitely still using my own palettes whenever I feel like drawing them again🩵🩵🩵

I'm so happy to have finished my Kinnporsche the Series posca marker illustrations! I planned these out earlier this year and it took a long time to get in the right headspace for them. In the end, after multiple Kinnporsche rewatches and months of putting them off, I finished them all in about a week.

This show is so visually stunning, and I thought the vibrance of posca markers would be the best way for me to show my appreciation for its creativity. The beautiful lighting is such a fun contrast with the dark themes explored.

Trans Flags

I made a post with 4 striped trans flags a while ago, but I wanted to revisit it with some new edits/flags.

(Not all of these are mine, I just like having everything together as a set. I'll also be splitting them into sections, since there are a lot of flags.)

transmasculine/transmasc ★ transfeminine/transfem ★ transnonbine/transenbine/transnbine/transnonbinarine

(Note: nonbine, enbine, nbine, and nonbinarine are words for nonbinary gender quality, nonbinary versions of masculine, feminine, etc. The first 3 I came up with, and nonbinarine comes from here.)

✦ All these flags follow these trans flag formats. The white and grey black stripes are the same for all of them, and the only thing that changes are the center 2 stripes, for the respective gender qualities.

The transmasc and transfem flags are the same as their originals.

Transnonbine was made by me. I used the yellow and purple stripes from the nonbinary flag.

transandrogynous ★ transgenderless ★ transneutral/transneu

Transandrogynous is just a slight colour edit of the original. (I changed the bottom stripe to grey and adjusted the purples.)

Transgenderless is the same as the original.

For transneutral I chose green, as that's a common colour for neutrality. So it's like this variant of transneu.

transmaverine/transmav ★ transxenine/transxen ★ transbine/transbinarine

(Note: bine/binarine is binary gender quality. Binarine comes from here, but I came up with bine follow the same naming convention as nbine.)

Transmav is pretty much the same as the original, though I changed the yellow and orange to be slightly darker, for more contrast.

Transxenine is quite different from the original. Instead of copper colours, I used a light purple blue colour scheme, just because I felt those colours were fitting.

Transbine uses the colours from this binarine flag. (I chose the lighter colours so it wouldn't look too similar to the transmascfem flag.)

transmidbine/transmidbinarine ★ transabine/transabinarine ★ transatrine/transatrinarine

(Note: midbine/midbinarine is midbinary gender quality, abine/abinarine is abinary gender quality, and atrine/atrinarine is atrinary gender quality. I came up with midbine/abine/atrine following the naming format of nbine, and derived atrinarine from midbinarine and abinarine (which weren't made by me).)

Transmidbine, transabine, and transatrine all use the colours from my alt midbinary/abinary/atrinary flags. Besides this transabinarine flag, which uses a different format, I don't think flags for these exist, so they're pretty much new designs.

transaporine ★ transoutherine

Transaporine is fairly different from its original. Instead of using bright red orange, I used the colours from this aporine flag.

Transoutherine is also kind of different from its original, mainly it's the colour configuration. I used this outherine flag as reference.

From here on are combos of the above flags/terms :D

transnbinemasc ★ transandrogynousmasc ★ transgenderlessmasc

(Note: transandrogynousmasc is also called transandromasc. The wiki page lists transandromasc as both transandrogynous and transmasculine, so I assume andro is supposed to be a shortening of androgynous. However shortening it like that just means masculine, so I use androgynous instead so it's clearer.)

Transnbinemasc is a mix of the blues, yellow, and purple from the transmasc and transnbine flags.

Transandrogynousmasc is bluish purple, as a combo of the blues of transmasc and purples of transandrogynous. Same idea as the original, though I used slightly different colours.

Transgenderlessmasc is just greyish blue, as a combo of the grey from transgenderless and blue from transmasc.

(I don't think transnbinemasc and transgenderlessmasc have been made before, so those are new flags.)

transneumasc ★ transmavmasc ★ transxenmasc

Transneumasc is just a edit of the original flag. (The colours are slightly lighter.)

Transmavmasc uses orange yellow from the transmav flag, and a adjusted blue from the transmasc flag.

Transxenmasc uses the purple from transxen, and the light blue from transmasc.

(I haven't found transmavmasc and transxenmasc before, so these are new flags too.)

transnbinefem ★ transandrogynousfem ★ transgenderlessfem

(Note: same as the one about transandromasc, this one is also called transandrofem.)

For transnbinefem is a mix of the pinks, yellow, and purple from the transfem and transnbine flags.

Transandrogynousfem is a lot like the original, I just used slightly different colours.

Transgenderlessfem just uses a greyish pink, as a combo of the greys of transgenderless and pinks of transfem.

(Transnbinefem and transgenderlessfem are also new flags, as far as I'm aware, I wouldn't be surprised if similar flags have been made before, though perhaps just not in this format.)

transneufem ★ transmavfem ★ transxenfem

Transneufem is based off of my transneumasc flag, I chose a light peachy colour for it. The original is pretty different, it uses a bright red instead.

Transmavfem uses the same orange yellow from transmav, and the dark pink from transfem (which I adjusted the hue of, so it would match better with the orange).

Transxenfem uses the same light purple from transxen, and the light pink from transfem.

(Last note about this, but I transmavfem and transxenfem should be new too.)

transmascfem/transfemasc

Transmascfem flags have been made before, but not in this 4 stripe format (that I know of). I chose the dark pink from transfem, and the light blue from transmasc.

There's also transoutherinemasc and transoutherinefem flags in the same 4 stripe style. I didn't make any though, since I couldn't figure out how to make it look. It's the same reason why I skipped out on making combos with transbine, transmidbine, transabine, transatrine, and transaporine, I just couldn't figure out a good design.

I'll also note about the names, there's a lot of possible names for these terms, I didn't list all of them because there's a lot. So feel free to use these flags for alt terms, or come up with your own terms (as long as they mean the same thing).

Hey quick question how do you come up with the color scheme for the piece? I get stuck trying to think past what colors my characters have

oohhh, that's a hard one It depends on what you're focusing on, the colours on a character or the colours in their background! Backgrounds are best when they complement the figure but don't melt into them. Using opposites on the colour wheels (red/green, blue/orange, Yellow/purple) is a good place to start, as well as complimentary tones. So, for example, for the pieces below, the background contains a Lesser colour from the figure, but allows the main colours to pop! the pink/red of ahme's skin to the desaturated green, the deep but warm brown against the blue and green of the bg!

For complete pieces, full illustrations, one good way to make the character and background feel more coherent, is picking colours from the figure and incorporating them into the bg. The pink flowery dress becomes the pink of lanterns in the bg, the same yellow of the stars as the characters eyes. And for most character designs, I find sticking to a few base colours and adding one to make it pop, works for me. Brown leather and smoky blue with Gold jewellry, Lilac silk with sage and perwinkle blue! Also, mixing warm and cool tones. All warm and all cool is borin, gotta give it a touch of the other to make it glow! Also, make sure to look into some colour theory, my way isn't the way for eveyone, getting lots of dif info is the best way for you to find how YOU like to colour! Hope this is helpful!!

okay so we know some saw movies are green and some are blue. and we know mexico in saw is yellow and orange. so here's my 'theory':

idk shit about american geography but we don't have any exact locations for where they take place anyway. my theory is that SAW CITY changes all the time and the colour scheme can indicate latitude, at least in north america. all usa saw movies are blue/green/yellow, all mexican saw movies are yellow/orange/red, any future canadian saw movies will be blue/purple/brown or just fucking dark as hell, and any south american movies could be pink/lavender maybe. the gradient follows the gilbert baker pride flag in honour of adam

Papa's chasuble colours analysis.

It’s sad to see the fandom so sleepy, so what a better moment to be back with some ramblings…

So, we know each Papa got their own chasuble colour, but is it casually assigned?

In the Catholic church, vestments colours have specific meanings, usually they change based on the celebration or festivity period, so I thought it would be cool to find out if the meanings match in Ghost’s world too.

The colours used by our Papas are:

Papa IV - Blue: Advent. It is a period (usually 24 days) before Christmas. We witnessed his journey from Cardinal to Pope, with his ascension on stage; he basically reborn as Papa Emeritus IV. I think it would be a nice analogy to Christmas. Blue is also connected to the celebrations of the Holy Mary… I don’t think I have to say more.

Papa III - Purple: Lent. It is the 40 days period before Easter, when christians celebrate death and resurrection of Jesus… are you thinking what I’m thinking? Plus, purple is also the color of grief (death) in Catholic Church.

Papa II - Green: Epiphany/Pentecost. The Epiphany indicates many events in Catholicism, in particular the arrival of the Magis at Jesus’ birth, the event of his baptism and the Cana Wedding (that is also a badass painting of Paolo Veronese that the Louvre should give us back, btw. It is one of my life’s missions. They can keep the Mona Lisa.). So we have a birth (Year Zero), the moment Jesus becomes the “son of God” (Jigolo Har Megiddo, to say one) and a feast with wine (Body and Blood…?). The Pentecost is even more interesting; it is celebrated seven Sundays after Easter to celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles, event that marks the start of the Catholic Church. Now, in 1966 Anton LaVey and Kenneth Anger founded the Church of Satan, declaring that year the Year One. Ghost did the Year Zero, which I always thought was a refer to both the christian Year Zero and the satanic Year One. In both cases, a birth/start is involved, so the birth of the Antichrist as main theme is on point.

Papa I - Red/White: red for Holy Week/Pentecost, white for Christmas/Easter/Marriage. It is often said that Primo represents everything that’s holy, so a refer to the holiest of Christian festivities would make sense to me.

I haven’t gotten into all the details because there would be too much to say and analyze. I don’t know if TF has ever planned all this, maybe not - even if in a last year interview he said he was planning the color scheme of the new era, so it shouldn’t be completely casual-, especially with the first Papas, but even if he didn’t his ass is lucky enough to catch some cool coincidences.

whose phone is that, anyway? character signature colours and yoshizawa's phone

There is a perennial debate over what's going on with Yoshizawa's phone. Isn't it Kasumi's phone that she's dragging around for reasons? What's even wrong with it, and why?

I have no opinion on the last two questions (other than that her difficulty communicating likely symbolises the things she's hiding from herself and others.) But I do think we can put that first question, of ownership, to bed.

First let's take a quick look at...

character colour coding

Most playable characters in P5 are assigned a colour, which is used more-or-less consistently for various things. For instance, their chat icons use them:

Their gloves use them. Makoto is the exception here with white gloves (perhaps because she uses fist weapons, so her gloves are always hidden?):

More to the point? Their phones are all colour coded:

Clockwise from the top: Ryuji (gold), Ann (hot pink), Yusuke (pale blue), Haru (purple), Futaba (green) and Makoto (dark blue).

royal trio: joker

The Royal Trio throw this nice little arrangement for an absolute loop.

First off, let's take a look at Joker. Silver phone (you may have observed it). No chat icon that we ever see to my knowledge, though it seems highly unlikely that he wouldn't have a red one. And indeed, his gloves are red. (as you may also have observed)

Our resident Gemini, of course, stomps in with his steel-capped kicker boots and does everything twice. He's got two pairs of gloves, which match his apparent alignment (white or black, with his "day gloves" being black):

And his phone? Well, it's red (though the anime has it as dark grey, because, again, never not extra). Because, to this day, he's still playing hero—with the emphasis by now very much on "playing"—and part of him still wants to be the hero....

So Joker and Akechi have a reverse colour scheme going on with their phones: Joker has the silver/white/colourless phone that you might expect Akechi to have, and Akechi has the red one you'd expect Joker to have. Or rather, Joker has the "bad guy" phone while Akechi has the "good guy" phone, because he's a fucking liar and because each of them, to a greater or lesser extent, is walking that line between hero and villain.

As for his chat icon, it was grey in vanilla [source], while in Royal it was changed to brown. So: two sets of gloves, two chat icons, two phones (if we count the anime). Complicated.

what about yoshizawa?

Just like Joker and Akechi, Yoshizawa is too cool to be bound by any stupid dress code... pretty much. Her outfit is essentially girl Joker, and so her gloves are red, like his. Her chat icon is a deep purply-pink—more hot pink than Ann's, in fact, whose colour hot pink is!

It's possible her icon is meant to be red, but it's been shifted to purply-pink because a red icon on a red background would look bad.

But there are a couple of other things we can look at. And they tell us it's incredibly likely that the malfunctioning phone Yoshizawa carries through the game is not Kasumi's, but her own.

Remember that Yoshizawa's codename, Violet, is taken from her true given name Sumire—which means "violet". In Maruki's Palace, there's a cinematic of her with the real Kasumi during their accident, where both girls have umbrellas. Kasumi's is yellow—but Sumire's?

It's violet. And what colour is Yoshizawa's phone, when she pulls it out on 10/3, still believing that she's Kasumi?

It's violet. Violet for her true name, violet for her codename. Violet like the umbrella she carried when Kasumi died. This is clearly Sumire's phone, not Kasumi's.

Why is it broken? Still damaged in the accident, maybe?—Sumire is knocked flying. Unconsciously sabotaged? Space pixies? Who knows.

tigris hating the new snow (colour symbolism + minor meta from this scene)

i'm so deeply obsessed with so many of the colour choices in tbosas movie.... like wow! one day i'll talk more about them, but one i want to pull out and talk about right now is tigris' colour scheme in her last scene. the one where she's wearing this:

(the picture is not great quality, i'll update this when i have a pic that's more than 2 pixel lol, but it shows what we need to see)

she's got on a light purple/lavender dress with dark blue stripes. blue and purple are usually associated with wealth and royalty (given the historic complications that came with producing them).

purple is especially representative of royalty and wealth, and tigris' outfit is mostly purple, symbolizing the new (wealthy) life that she's found herself in.

blue, along with it's other meanings is associated with melancholy. we know that tigris is unhappy/heartbroken/disappointed with snow's changes, so this link makes sense. it is also a passive colour, showing us that she is passive in coryo's transformation into snow -- there's not much that she can do about it anyway, but i digress. the deepness of the blue implies something tumultous, which gives us an insight into what she's likely feeling: relief at being out of poverty, happiness for coryo's success, but a deep sense of uncertainty and unease at this new snow persona that he's adopted. finally, it can also a colour of peace, which i take to mean that she's sort of made peace with what she cannot change about him, regardless of how she may feel about it.

now we get to the standout of this outfit: the red lip!

usually we see tigris is lip colours that are complimentary to the other colours she has on from what i recall; when she wears pink, her lips are pink, when she's got on dark magentas her lip colour matches/compliments it. the red lip here is clearly an intentional choice as it is a contrasting colour that stands out brightly against the mostly subdued/cool-toned rest of the outfit.

red can be recognized as the colour of passion and anger. the fact that it is on her mouth is certainly trying to show us something. what she says to snow here is "you look just like your father, coriolanus". it is clearly a dig, clearly meant with negative intent, with anger. she is heated! this is the little boy she grew up with, that she protected, that she loved and he's morphing into something sinister before her very eyes. if it wasn't clear by what she said, the subtext behind it, and the way that she said it, the red lip indicates her anger here.

it stands out as a little piece of rebellion against just accepting snow the way he is. she is clothed in colours that show her wealth and complacency with the changes that caused them, but she isn't entirely willing to let it go all the way.

also, she wears warmer colours for a lot of the movie -- pinks and the like -- and now she's in more cool tones, which is an obvious choice being made. she loves coryo (perhaps not snow so much), and she is letting herself be swallowed up by this new life (symbolized by the royal colours and new wealth), but she has that little bit of her that is clinging to the past, that wants her coryo back.

her (minor) dissent against snow is verbal, it is subtle and not exactly obvious to anyone except her and him, in the same way that the red lip is a subtle way of emphasizing her displeasure with this new snow.

she chooses her words very carefully, tailoring them to be a direct referral to her convo with coryo after the arena ("i know you wanna be like your father, but, what i remember the most about him, was that in his eyes it was just hate. you don’t have to pay the same price just to survive. people can be good. you can be good"). snow is like his father, who tigris remembers most as having hate in his eyes. coryo didn't have to pay the same price just to survive, he could be good, but he paid that price anyway.

in the full quote from her last scene, tigris says "i think you look just like your father, coriolanus." This stuck out to me because I don't really remember her ever calling him by his full name often (maybe just at the start when we get the "future president of panem" thing). it seems like perhaps he insisted on; he's not coryo anymore, he's coriolanus snow -- no, he's snow; it could also be something tigris did intentionally. either way, it shows that he is not her precious, still-able-to-be-good coryo anymore.

another interesting thing from this scene is her positioning. she does not rise for him, instead remains sitting at her sewing machine (someone look back and see if its a new machine or if she's using the same one as before!!). she does not rise to greet him happily like the Grandma'am, she remains seated, clearly showing her displeasure at the new snow. plus, usually rising when someone enters a room shows respect; tigris does not rise, ergo she does not respect him!

this also makes me believe that she is not making his clothes anymore (she's at the sewing machine, clearly she can make the clothes, but he grabs the coat out of the closet, showing that it's not a tigris snow original creation). it's a contrast to how we first see adult tigris, rushing up to coryo with a shirt she made/modified. now she keeps her distance and doesn't give him clothes. this shows that huge huge huge pit growing between them. once again, this is not her coryo anymore.

i'd assume that she initially was offering to make/alter his clothes, but somewhere along the way he refused. it's a sign of the hard times when all he had to wear was too-small shoes and potato-starched shirts sneaked in with curtains to be bleached. buying new clothes shows power and wealth and coriolanus' 'impeccable, well-bred, respectable taste' that comes from being a snow.

regardless of the how, she's not doing his clothes anymore, she's displeased over the new snow, he's not her baby coryo anymore, and the distance between them has never been bigger, not even when he was all the way in 12.
